Relaxing visit to Chicen Itza

The early start tour to Chichen Itza was great! Our tour guide Frank has lots of knowledge of the Mayan culture, history and practices which enhanced the experience. The visit to the cenote afterwards included a well stocked buffet and the swim was most welcome after a hot morning! Definitely recommend the early access tour as there were no crowds and no pesky souvenir sellers!

Amazing visit to a World Wonder

The tour gide make a difference on the tour. He knows a lot of the history of Maya culture and get your atraction with funny jokes. It was a really nice tour. 100% recommended

Great tour!

Frank was great! Tour was very informative and we got in before the crowds! Cenote was beautiful! Was able to get back to the hotel and still enjoy a bit of the rest of the day! Highly recommend!

One-of-a-kind experience with the MOST knowledgeable guide

Marco is by far the most knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced guide. He’s very calm and clear. Explains the history of everything you do with a zest for Mexican culture. The cenote they take you to x-cajum is so beautiful and one-of-a-kind. Yes, it’s early but you’d rather suffer by waking up early and get to enjoy everything ahead of the crowds! Trust!

Excellent tour!

Excellent tour! Our tour guide, Marco, was very knowledgeable, and the tour overall was very fascinating. Doing the early access was great! We didn't have to deal with any of the crowds and was worth the early start in the morning.

This was an assign experience our tour guide was super funny, trustworthy, knowledgeable, helpful, and made you feel really welcome. Vincent made this experience super enjoyable.

Excellent tour! Very engaging and knowledgeable tour guide, Vincente Padilla. We had plenty of time at the ruins and the cenote. Fabulous buffet lunch! Very clean and comfortable tour bus. I highly recommend this tour!

Don't buy this tour. Go on your own and enjoy the cenotes more.

The host talked way too much. It appeared he was high on that crystal meth since he was talking nonstop. Other guides were more aware of how to speak. He also left us in the sun instead of lecturing us from the shade. We lost way too much time standing in the sun. It's much better to go to Chicen Itza by yourself. That way, you will be able to enjoy more time in the CENOTES and less time listening to nonstop chatter while baking in the sun.

Low quality and half a scam

The tour with Frank was extremely expensive for what it is, all the places were not local at all, everything was overpriced and very low quality. I booked a tour entirely in French and sadly we did not get what we paid for, everything was in Spanish with the exception of the Chichén Itzá guide that was able to say some words that were still pretty hard to understand, therefore it was half a scam as I had to translate everything to my partner. As a Mexican I feel ashamed for showing this to my partner, and would not recommend it at all for anyone that wants to see what Mexico is really like. In Spanish, the information is interesting but sadly it still remains way too expensive and low quality with the worst buffet ever! The cenote was way too crowded and you basically pay to get in there for 5 min to then be forced to go out. It would have been better to do everything on my own.

Amigos will not dissapoint

First and foremost; Amigo tours is the way to go! theyre absolutely the very best! From the very beginning, all the way to the end, staff members are super attentive and very friendly. Staff members are also very detailed with instructions, and they really go out of their way to provide the best service possible. Ulises, or Don Uli is absolutely wonderful! Would 100 percent recommend amigo tours for your activity plannings!

A wonderful Mayan and cenote experience

The swim in the cenote was liberating and refreshing, getting up early for the tour was difficult but absolutely worth it in my honest opinion. I enjoyed the trip and i know you will to.

What an incredible experience. Rodrigo was the ultimate tour guide. I highly recommend you go on this trip. The experience, the history, and the education was above par. It's worth every penny.

The ONLY Chichén Itza tour to take!

This tour was amazing from beginning to end! Freddy is the best tour guide. I learned things about the Mayan culture that you won’t get from mainstream sources. My favorite part was going to the Mayan village and being personally blessed by the Shaman. From a practical perspective getting up early wasn’t bad. I got the best sleep on the bus. When I woke up we were there. We were the first ones at all sites and after each one there was a huge crowd coming behind us. Not only did we beat the crowds, we also beat the heat. At the end we got back to our resort at a decent hour in the afternoon with enough time to rest and go to dinner! Thank you Freddy!

Great tour

Great tour! Our guide Freddie was wonderful - knowledgeable, funny and willing to answer all of my questions. The early morning start was so worth it! Got in before all the crowds, and before it was too hot. Lunch was good, and the cenote swim was beautiful.

Chichen Itza Early Access W/ Freddy

Freddy was knowledgeable, patient with the group, and extremely FUNNY. If you are looking for a good time and a honest guide, ask for Freddy. I would absolutely take this tour again with Freddy.

We had fun with this tour! Rodrigo was the best guide and photographer! Frank and Ivan were nice too! Frank was very knowledgeable with the Mayan history. The Cenote that we went was very beautiful! Highly recommended!

Amazing tour

One of the best tours I’ve ever taken. Rodrigo the tour guide was amazing. Very informative and very friendly. I learned so much new history. Frank in the tour bus so amazing as well. He is super friendly and informative. Very passionate of his job. Bravo to the whole staff that assisted us. The drive to the place was long but we’ll worth it. Thanks to the bus driver that got us there safely.

Wonderful Tour of the Mayan Pyramid

A great experience to undergo. Tour guide Frank and Bus Driver Armond gave a wonderful trip through the historical Mexican tour.

Tour Cancelled at short notice

Tour was cancelled with just 36 hours notice, leaving us needing to book a last minute tour through the hotel tour desk at double the cost with another provider. Amigo Tours did offer alternatives but they were not acceptable. Tour guide apparently did not have the required permit to operate the visit to Chichen Itza - surely this was known well in advance ? They could have given us more notice to organise and rebook.

Very interesting

The pyramids were amazing of course, but I really liked the Mayan history described by our guide, Daniel Hernandez (part Mayan himself), especially tying it in to the current plight of Mayans today. But it gave me hope that a group of local women created what has become a thriving cooperative on the road to Chichen Itza, Real Mayab, where you can get locally made obsidian carvings that are very beautiful. The woman who runs the cooperative knows Daniel and did a toast with us, which felt special.

Wonderful Experience with Daniel

Daniel was a great guide - we visited many cool spots and had great guidance throughout. We got a lot of the history and had ample time to do all the activities we wanted to. Santos was a perfect tour guide at Chichen Itza, giving us so much background but leaving us with enough time to walk around on our own. The cenote was beautiful, the towns were beautiful, and the overall experience was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Cancun. It was an all-day experience that was worth more than its price.

No showed the morning of with no communication. Left us stranded at the hotel with no notice.

I very rarely write negative reviews but in this case I felt it was needed to warn other travelers about a company who doesn’t value their customers, especially since I would guess most of their customer base is tourists. My wife and I wanted to come to Mexico to see these ruins. We booked the VIP experience to get picked up from our hotel and waited 45 minutes while on the phone with an operator. They no showed us. Never sent our ride. This company will leave you waiting to get to the ruins. Their excuse was an accident with their driver. I understand accidents happen but at that point it’s your job to find alternate means of transportation for your paying customers AND/OR at minimum call and alert the customer of the issue so we could rebook with another company instead of missing all the other tours. They don’t take their customers seriously and should be avoided at all costs. Please look elsewhere. We are currently awaiting our full refund. If we get that I will update my review to reflect a full refund.

The perfect way to see Chichen Itza!

I had a wonderful time on the Chichen Itza tour with our friendly guide Vincente Padilla and our driver, Luis! As a solo female traveler, I loved that this tour picked me up and dropped me off at the door of my hotel. Vincente always made sure every member of the group was accounted for throughout the day. He was a great teacher, explaining many details of the Mayan history and Chichen Itza in both Spanish and English. He was engaging and fun. He also assisted in taking photos at Chichen Itza. The van was clean and comfortable. This was the perfect way for me to see this wonder of the world!

Great Cultural Excutsion

We scheduled the excursion to explore Chichen Itza a few weeks in advance to our trip to Cancun. We had a great amount of communication leading up to the event to schedule the pickup from our hotel to get to the tour bus and ultimately go to the Mayan Ruins. Our tour guide, Freddy, was very fun and interesting as we made our way to the ruins, visited Mayan city for lunch and finally went to the ruins. I will say, I was expecting to just see Chichen Itza and walk away with some good pictures. But Freddy did an amazing job explaining the culture and history to the best our our recorded historys knowledge. It was a very good cultural day to see how our ancestors lived and appreciate history. I recommend this for a full day adventure!

Chichen Itza Early access tour

The tour was led my Marco and our guide at Chichen Itza was Rodrigo - both were great. Rodrigo has a wealth of knowledge and made the experience engaging and interesting. Would recommend the early access as you beat the crowd and most of the heat. If you are a vegetarian I would recommend getting your own food.

Great walk through history without the crowds.

Great guide that began our experience on the bus and car carried us through the entire experience. His knowledge of culture (past and present) was invaluable to a deeper appreciation of the history, evolution and present state of the regional cultures and heritage. It was great to arrive on site prior to the crowds and with the guidance of our local guide, our experience was elevated even more. The buffet was well prepared and an enjoyable experience. Everywhere we went, the local communities were invested in our having a great and unforgettable experience. The bus ride was pleasant despite the Road construction.

Very informative and clearly understands Mayan culture. If you want to learn and have a bunch of tequila go with SUPER frank. 10/10 My wife loved it !!

Early access is the best way to experience the Temple of Kukulcan at Chichén Itzá! There isn’t any shade in the area so getting there just after opening at 9am allowed us to enjoy the scenery before the sun becomes unbearable close to noon. We got to take the best pictures because the place was least crowded, and by the time we were done taking everything in and boarding our bus for lunch most people were arriving to wander out into the sweltering heat. Avoid the street vendors and hold out for the Mayan community you’ll visit for lunch where you can support natives directly by purchasing artisanal crafts, same as you’d find from the vendors at the temple but you’ll receive a receipt from the Mayan community allowing you to take your items back with you instead of having them confiscated on your way out of the country at customs. Freddy was our tour guide and Francisco was our driver, both did an amazing job keeping us informed and on schedule. We learned new things, tried some great food, and had the best possible experience visiting this world wonder. Freddy was particularly knowledgeable and gave us some much needed context and background information as we drove toward our destination. The buses were not packed full unlike other tours I’ve done this week which made me feel much better about COVID.

Highly recommend for an intimate AND knowledgeable experience!

My partner and I had never done a tour before, so we were hesitant. However, Our experience was amazing! Frank & Rodrigo we’re so knowledgeable & humorous. Their attention to their audience and truly sharing the magic and hard work that came from the Mayans was incredible. They made the tour so memorable and intimate. Rodrigo was a great photographer snd helped capture precious moments, who knew? Alejandro drove safely the entire trip and kept all of the passengers feeling comfortable. We highly recommend this activity! Such a beautiful experience to truly connect with the beauty of Chichén Itzá. Thanks to everyone.

Chichen Itza tour

Tour guide Freddy and bus driver Javier from Amigo Tours were great hosts, provided lots of information and kept everyone informed of what was happening. Was a long day but well worth the experience. Be ready for offerings of many things to buy.

Terrible experience.

I received an email less than 48 hours before the trip saying it had been canceled. Something about a labor contract renewal & not having an available guide. Horrible way to arrive in Mexico & left me scrambling to find a trip to Chichen Itza with my son.

We had a amazing experience, would absolutely recommend it. Marco was very knowledgeable and made us feel really comfortable. The food was incredible and the people were welcoming.

Incredible Experience

I don’t think it would be possible to have as knowledgeable and as good of a guide as Marco was. My girlfriend and I had the absolute best time scoping out the ruins, eating an incredible local lunch off the beaten path, and swimming in the coolest cenote. 100% would do this again. 100% wouldn’t have any other tour guide. 100% wouldn’t go with another company. Pretty cool experience all the way around.

Really good tour!

Having always wanted to visit Chichén Itzá, it was on the top of our list when we visited Cancun on our honeymoon. We booked through Amigo Tour through Trip Advisor and added the hotel pick up for around $10 each which was worth it for the time we needed to leave for the early access. The bus was on time and after collecting a few others we set off into the jungle. Our tour guide, Super Frank, was brilliant! He was really knowledgable about the area and the Mayan history and made the whole experience enjoyable, debunking myths and adding some humour to the history of the site. His passion is evident and switched effortlessly from English and Spanish to accommodate all the guests. At Chichén Itzá, be warned it is really hot! We went on the earlier tour to avoid the higher afternoon temperatures and the crowds. The crowds we did miss as by the time we left, it was getting extremely busy! So we managed to get some lovely pictures with just the pyramid in the background. The heat we did not miss, however. It was in the high 30s and the humidity was a killer - this wasn’t an issue for the super Super Frank who competed the whole excursion in a black hoody, complete with his hood up, his ‘sun screen’ as he told me when I asked if he wasn’t hot. After Chichén Itzá, you are taken to a Mayan village where you get blessed and are given a little packed lunch. Nothing special, but fills a hole. The souvenir shop sells some locally produced Mayan articles as well as some run of the mill, Cancun-type souvenirs you can buy anywhere. The ride back was smooth and gets you back into Cancun around 3pm, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your hotel to siesta and eat. Highly recommend and if you have Frank, you’re in for a treat!

The tour was amazing since we were on the bus! Super Frank was introducing us into the Mayan culture with facts and sharing the history while we were on our way. We really enjoyed the tour, thank you!!

Buen tour

Good tour, Frank our Guide told us a lot about the history of chichen itza, the place is wonderful. The cenotes also very cute and the tasting of very very good tequila. Personally the only thing that would change is that I would leave a space of 10 or 15 minutes to be able to look at the souvenirs and crafts they sell in chichen, it really looked very cute and it was worth taking a few minutes to look calmly, it would not have made a difference in the times of the tour.
