Informational Tour

I really enjoyed the knowledgeable and sometimes snarky commentary by our tour guide. Take the time to find parking very seriously. These Americans wondered about for a long time before realizing that there just won't be good parking. We missed our tour by an hour, but the folks were very accommodating.

Great relaxing, informative historical glide down the river.

Although I goofed mightily, walking hrs. To arrive late for my reservation, they were kind and solicitous of me and made accommodation, which I greatly appreciated. The river punter was excellent — highly informative, great history and just delightful way with us all. I recommend this company highly.

Our guide was engaging, thoughtful, and knowledgable. He gave us a good overview of the colleges, and filled in the gaps with bits from history and legend.

Punters in a punt

Trip timing was changed the day before in anticipation of staff not turning up for work on a Sunday morning (this hunch turned out to be right). Our tour was very comprehensive and it was good to have booked early to avoid the 10s of punts which were just about everywhere by the time we got off the water. Definitely worth booking early. An on the day price with the same company was £40pp.

Messing about on the River Cam

A great experience for a birthday weekend. Book online for a better and cheaper deal than you get from the kids who stand on the river (really lovely kids / but the prices are eye watering - even when you negotiate a discount with them. Our Punt Chris was great fun, knowledgeable, amusing and fielded all our questions and queries about the colleges, the history and traditons. Chris made me want to come home and immediately watch Grantchester. Definitely a MUST DO in your itinerary. We loved it

Wonderful views of all the colleges lining the Cam all the way up to the mathematical bridge and back. So pleased we did it. Callum was our boatman and he was truly excellent. Calm, very knowledgeable and gently humourous he made the experience special.

Punting on The Cam

Sam, our guide, was very informative and told us a lot about the colleges parks and bridges we were seeing, who built them and any interesting history that was linked to them. His punting skills were impressive negotiating us safely through the swathe of self-hired punts many of which were being poorly punted! A great trip and must-do if you are visiting Cambridge.

Great trip, highly recommended

Joe was an excellent punter with an endless knowledge of Cambridge and an engaging approach. We learned a lot about the history of the colleges on the canal and had time to appreciate all the amazing historic buildings that make the city so special. We experienced an incredible downpour on the trip but Joe didn’t miss a beat! He continued with his super commentary as we hunkered under the supplied umbrellas waiting for the sun to come out again. Which it did. . We sheltered under a bridge for a few minutes. It was the only hour that day when it rained.! An excellent trip - enjoyable, educational and a lot of fun - and a bit wet. Well done Joe.

Fun and informative

Really fun 45 minute tour - our guide George was informative and witty. He answered lots of our questions and gave us lots of interesting facts. I would highly recommend this company and definitely try punting when you are visit beautiful Cambridge. ☀️🚣‍♂️

Interesting boat experience with a fab guide, well worth the money and the sights.

What a memorable experience, our guide Chris was informative and comical. He made the journey fun and one we won't forget for all the right reasons. Cambridge has so many delightful sights only available by the boats, definitely recommend if visiting and definitely book before hand online. Some guests even brought along their own prosecco and plastic glasses which was a good idea but there are floating bar boats along the way if you dmfsncy a tipple. Thanks Chris for a fab experience 😀

Punting about on the River Cam.

I have given this tour 4 out of 5 because the young girl who took us on the tour was quietly spoken and I was on the opposite end of the punt and difficult to hear, so we missed out on some of the information. It was however lovely to see all the colleges and the green spaces surrounding the backs of them. The river tour is the only way to see the backs as they are called and also to see the famous mathematical bridge and the bridge of sighs, a copy of a bridge in Venice. The river was v busy with lots of punts so be prepared for a few knocks.

Our host George was EXCEPTIONAL!!!! What a wealth of knowledge he had, funny, insightful and truly a wonderful experience because of his expertise and knowledge. Far more than just a boat ride!!!

Worth the Time and Money

Great way to spend an hour. The punter was entertaining and knowledgeable about the sites and history along the river. Everyone should do this at least once.

Good punting experience

Listening to the guide, who punts really well. However, there were just too many companies out there and so many boats and people kind of destroyed the calm and pretty place.

our guide was Joe, and he was absolutely incredible! very personable, easy to talk to, and incredibly knowledgeable of the history of the city and school. very good at pushing the boat as well. It was extremely smooth the whole way round even with all the other boats on the water! extremely beautiful trip. Joe also gave us a dinner recommendation that proved to be delicious!

Excellent tour with Chris. Despite booking a shared tour, we ended up alone on the boat, which was very pleasant! Very informative. Cambridge and its colleges are rich in history!

Worth it! Easy to book and find. Staff were professional and knowledgeable. The tour on the punt was just under an hour, safe with amazing views. Lots of historical facts and all questions answered.

The right choice for your punting experience

Have visited Cambridge couple of times but never got to do the punting which was a mistake. It’s an absolute must to do. We had a really nice experience with The Cambridge Punt Company.

Beautiful Punt on Summers Evening

I had friends staying from Holland and last minute we decided on an evening trip to Cambridge. We were very lucky as we arrived near the end of the day so although we booked a shared tour it was only us in the boat. Our guide Joe / Joseph was super. He was kind, polite and knowledgeable. We had a lovely trip in beautiful sunshine - it wasn’t rushed at all and we really got to enjoy seeing the sights at a leisurely pace. Not only that Joe was kind enough to let my friend’s 10 year old have a go a punting. Joe really made the trip fun and interesting with lots of commentary and facts. Really recommend him as a guide.

Leisure time on the boat

Punting is a highly tough work, it needs practicing and experience. We enjoyed the river view and appreciated the vivid guide from the handsome punting man. Learned a lot from him.

Adam was the best guide! Funny, very informative and thoughtful. It was a chilly day and blankets were provided which was so great! Would definitely recommend.

Took an Uber to the address shown and it dropped me far away from the meeting point and consequently missed the tour. 70 quid gone just like that. It’s better to just go to the punting place and choose from the many punters. It’s cheaper as well.
