Cairo Half Day Tours visit Islamic Cairo & ancient mosques

The best

We had an amazing day on Old Cairo! From the Cave Church, St George and all the other holy sites. We even took a tour to garbage city. Our guide Sayed Mahmoud was spectacular! He really knows the area and we learned so much on this tour. The resturant he took us to was seriously the best food all week. Thank you Emo Tours! Ww had an unforgettable day!

An enlightening and enjoyable experience

The beautiful Islamic architecture was breathtaking. If you have a passion for Islamic art and architecture this tour is a must. The intricate patterned decor and high rised domes were mesmerising. Our guide Asma had a wealth of knowledge, she gave us an excellent historical journey.

I would do it again and again

Hebe was a great tour guide and a beautiful person inside and out. It was a Friday which is prayers day - I didn’t know that - so there were thousands of people mostly children. It was a very authentic experience that I very much enjoyed but if crowds make you uncomfortable, choose another day of the week. Otherwise it’s a must do, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the Islamic culture.

A fascinating day exploring

Our tour guide was Deena. We did the Islamic tour of Cairo, visiting the Citadel and several mosques in the area. She was very passionate about Egyptian history and was very knowledgeable about the sites we saw. We learned a lot of new things from this tour. Our guide was also very accommodating to our schedule. We had a lot of fun.

Would definitely go again

This was a memorable trip. We traveled and toured Al-Rifa'i Mosque, Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Hassan, Mosque of Muhammad Ali as well. Unfortunately our toddler and baby were passed out when we reached Amr ibn Al-A'as Mosque. So we didn’t get a chance to tour it. We took some great photos and history nonetheless. Our guide Marwa was very helpful with the kids while giving us a great tour.

Okay tour of mosques in Cairo

We saw all the amazing sites in Islamic Cairo, but did not have a very good experience with the tour guide. His English was quite poor and so he didn't do a good job of explaining what we were seeing and their history. When I asked him questions, he often responded with "I don't know". I ended up reading the Lonely Planet guide at each stop rather than listening to him. I wish he had given us more time to properly see everything, rather than rushing us, especially at Khan el Khalili. I would have also preferred he let us eat lunch privately as a family. Overall, this tour is good to transport you from site-to-site with an Arabic-speaker, but don't expect to learn new things about the sites you are seeing.

Travelling back in time

The guide Muhsin was amazing His knowledge was deep and he spoke good English I would certainly recommend him

Fabulous tour - Sam was great!

Sam was an incredible tour guide! Super knowledgeable about all sites. We were on a shorter timeline, so he kindly accommodated - picked us up at our hotel at 8:30am and dropped us back off by 12:30pm (12:20pm). He was very kind. Would definitely recommend!!

Interesting sites, great guide

The guide we had, Reina, was excellent. We visited several mosques, and she was very informative about all. We went to the market. My wife and I were interested in some specific items (masks for me), and she helped us find the perfect ones. She also treated us to an authentic Egyptian meal. If you are in Cairo, you should definitely take this tour.

Just horrible!

The tour guide assigned to us from Emo Tours was terrible! His name was Mohammed. It was a six hour tour that was only three hours due to his lack of guidance. We only saw the Salah El-Din Castle and Al Rifai Mosque. We were not taken to the other two mosques on the Viator itinerary. When walking us around the mosques, he was on his phone the whole time and only wanted to take photos of proof that he took us to a mosque for his reviews. He took us to Khan Al-Khalili but he made it a bad experience telling us everything there is fake and “made in China”. He kept telling us that he can take us to places off the itinerary. He only showed us the first two mosques in 15 minutes. He was not helpful and completely neglecting during the tour. On the ride back, he put his AirPods in and listened to music and bragged about his wife being a doctor and then begged for a tip because he has two kids. He was not being engaging as our tour guide. I would not recommend him to help other tourists as this was a bad experience. I reached out to Emo Tours and they refuse to give me back a refund for basically a 15 minute tour. Very poor customer service! But expected! Choose another tour agency!!

Memorable, highly recommended!

Khaled our tour guide made the journey memorable. He is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. Highly recommended. Shout out also to Mena our driver who made driving through bustling Cairo a smooth and enjoyable journey

Spiritually healing experience!

My friend and I being Muslims absolutely knew we had to do this tour during our time in Egypt! Our fantastic tour guide Eesaam was amazing with his knowledge of Islamic history, noting the differences in design for the different mosques/masjids. We were blown away by the beauty and the deep rich Islamic history of each masjid we visited. We even saw the prominent tombs of important Islamic figures in history which was a special experience. We were spiritually healed and could not be more grateful to our amazing tour guide Eesaam he went above and beyond for us. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Islamic history! We will remember this for years to come. A and S

Great way to see Cairo

The best way to strart the first day at Cairo. Our tour guide Sayed Mahmud and our driver Mohammad Basha was great. They showed us all the places in the tour and even more. Sayed patiently described everything for us and he really listened to what we wanted. Highly recommended, we are booking some more tours for the upcoming days after this great experience.

Informative and a Must Do!

Passionate Team Leader/Guide Ahmed Khattab ensured we were well informed, even drawing in other's to listen to he's entertaining and detailed description and background knowledge of the temples. Delightful excursion and well recommended - a must do!

Great part day tour.

This a great part day tour that works well if you have part of day available while in Cairo. Taking a tour was easy way to see these sites that may otherwise be difficult to see.

Private half day tour planned by Tonsi Tonsi

I booked a custom private tour with Tonsi Tonsi to see parts of Islamic Cairo that would not be covered in my group tour that started the next day. As two of the main components of the regular Islamic Cairo tour were removed we added in the museum where the mummies were all just moved to. Tonsi Tonsi was very helpful in planning my trip and a good communicator.

Greatest last day ever

Ayman was our guide and when I tell you he was the best he was the absolute best! His knowledge was outstanding he answered all questions no matter how silly or obvious! Ayman and the driver were friendly and accommodating. We ate at a wonderful local restaurant and the food was tasty and filling. The tour of Islamic Cairo was so inspiring and comforting! We visited The Citadel of Cairo awesomeness, we visited the oldest Mosque in Cairo and many more! We visited the Khan Khalil Market and saw and experienced so much more! Thank you Ayman our last day in Egypt was amazing!

Best tour if you want to dig deeper in the islamic side of Cairo

We specifically requested Mahmoud al Wakeel to be our guide (he was also our guide for the Coptic Cairo, Egyptian Museum and Bazaar day tour and we were impressed by him). I cannot state enough the good knowledge he has and how helpful and respectful he is. His stories are so funny and interesting.

Great overview islamic cairo

Ahmed Zaki from Emo Tours guided us for a 5 hour Islamic Cairo tour. From beginning to end, the process has been hassle free. He called me the day before to organize our hotel pick up and we agreed on everything. Ahmed has been a tour guide for 20 years, so he knows a lot about every site and you can tell how passionate he is. Ahmed was friendly everywhere to all people, security, driver etc, which made it pleasant and easy for us, he also invited us to an amazing falafel sandwich. We booked an english tour and Ahmed speaks the language.

Thank you Essam!

Essam (3ssam) was an incredible guide for our half day tour around a total of 4 of the most amazing mosques we've seen in old Cairo and the Citadel. We learned a huge amount from Essam and he was very good at setting the scene and then re-iterating what we'd learned for everything to set in. Essam also taught us a great deal about Islamic beliefs and culture which was a huge bonus, answering every question with a great deal of depth, wisdom and enthusiasm. Thank you so much for an amazing, fast paced, and exciting afternoon! We'll be back some day to see you again! Additional things we loved: - Essam handled tips and bribes (sometimes to enter closed areas!) and we settled up with him at the end - Made sure we were comfortable in the car and the temperature was right - Snacks waiting for us in the car - Helped us practice our Arabic (Sabba al Ful!) - Took great photos of us and showed us top spots - Bought us Tea and sat with us in a local cafe after the trip and waited with us for an Uber to take us to the airport, making sure we got into the car safely. - Really cared and took an interest in us

Islamic Cairo should not be missed

Essam was a wonderful and enthusiastic guide to the historic mosques in Cairo and to Islamic al Moezz Street. His enjoyment in sharing his knowledge of the mosques we visited and the history of Islam in Cairo was contagious. I highly recommend him as a guide - and kudos to our driver who navigated the crazy Cairo traffic.

Half day trip

Our day was very nice with our guide Aghmed, he was on time and very informative over all. Takes very good photos! Thank you

Great tour!

Great tour , Mohammad mousa was a great guide and really made this an informative and fun experience ! Highly recommend it

Islamic Cairo

Nice half day trip to different mosques. Very interesting history of Islamic Cairo. Our tour guide Mohammed was excellent. He even bought for us snacks amd water and took us for an extra visit to a local market.

Excellent visit

We just got back from Cairo/Luxor trip and the half day Islamic Cairo was excellent. The guide was waiting for us in the lobby and very knowledgeable and took us to a few mosques and explained in detail

Thank you for a fabulous tour!

We booked the photography tour of Islamic Cairo for 8 Dec 2019. Ahmed was our guide who met us promptly at our hotel. We confirmed the locations we wanted to see with Ahmed, and were off to begin our adventure. Driving in Cairo is an adventure, so the hotel pick-up and drop-off were stress free. Ahmed was knowledgable, professional and he pointed us toward wonderful, unique photo locations. We covered the alabaster mosque, the Citadel and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. All were beautiful, must-see sights! Ahmed was a warm and welcoming part of our Egypt trip, and we are most appreciative.

Amazing Experience

I booked this trip from the Viator website. Mahmoud Ismail was our tour guide. He picked us from the hotel and took us to the car with the driver. Snacks such as bottled water, coke, and sweets were provided in the car already. We first went to the Sala el din citadel, then 2 other mosques including sultan hassan, the al-azhar mosque, and el hussein mosque. Our tour guide Mahmoud Ismail was amazing, he was a story teller explaining the history of every mosque. We booked this on a Friday, so since I am a Muslim and so was the tour guide, we both prayed Jummah together in the Sultan Hassan Mosque. This tour was by far my favorite one at Cairo and I can recommend this to anyone. Thank you Mahmoud!

Amazing and inspirational day!

Today's adventure really emphasized how amazing our tour guide Ola and driver Said are and how far they went out of their way to help strangers. We booked the Islamic tour of Cairo which included visiting some of the oldest and most beautiful mosques in the world. The tour began with the visit to the Citadel of Cairo and the Alabaster Mosque. After finishing the tour, we were returning to meet Said when we witnessed a kitten being struck by a car. As animal lovers we asked if Ola and Said could help us find emergency veterinary services. Ola was kind enough to call a number of places before deciding that we will have the best chances at the local veterinary school. Said and Ola took us to the school and helped translate with the vet who indicated that miraculously the 4 week old kitten had no broken bones and sustained only minor injuries. He only needed a couple of medications. Said patiently took us to a number of pharmacies to find the right medication. At this point my husband and I figured the tour must be over as we spent the majority of the day dealing with the kitten; however, Ola and Said were willing to still take us to all the places that were part of the tour. Ola is an amazing well of information and we learned a ton about Egyptian history and its cultural and spiritual influences. It was an amazing, moving and inspirational tour. We are eternally grateful to Ola and Said for making our time in Egypt so wonderful and memorable and for really going above and beyond to take care of us. We are in awe of Egyptian hospitality. Booking another tour with Emo tours for tomorrow because we wouldn't even consider anyone else.

Amazing Tour

It was our first day. We arrived late at the hotel due to the late pick up and our tour guide - Ayman Gabry was waiting for us patiently. We proceeded with the tour and he showed the the four main mosques including the Cairo Citadel. We got some snacks and drinks as well which was good to sustain us. Ayman was very knowledgeable about the history and facts. He was also kind enough to stop and take photos for us when needed. After dropping back to the hotel, there was an issue with the hotel so he helped carry our bags and waited for us to check in at the next hotel which was very considerate of him. A must do tour in Cairo! Thanks to Emo Tours and Ayman!

Half day tour Islamic Cairo

Just did the tour today with Emo tour guide Rasha & driver Abdella. Rasha’s knowledge about Islamic Cairo & her patience are highly recommended. Me & my sister truly enjoyed the whole trip.

Great tour!

I was so happy I did this tour. I got to see the historic religious buildings of Cairo. My guide Nesma was the best! She had all the information and fun facts which made the tour and my driver Khaled was just as amazing. I felt like a king while touring Cairo.

Request Tito for your guide on this...

Request Tito for your guide on this trip. As a former English teacher he is quite fluent in English and was able to provide presentation in a conversational style that was quite engaging. We were able to see all of the sites listed on this tour at a nice pace. He was quite knowledgeable regarding these sites and frequently checked with me regarding any special interests I would have on this topic. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and engaging.

Excellent guide Eman.

The guide Eman was fabulous. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of Egypt and also about the places that we visited in looking at Islamic Cairo. Although it was Friday she managed to get us into the Mosques around prayer time. She took photos of us together, for us and kept us supplied with snacks and bottled water. Highly recommend this tour and our guide Eman.

Delightful

Tour guide was very friendly. Showed us all the beautiful mosques along with the history. Egypt is stunning from the gorgeous pyramids to the mosques.

Excursion Pyramid

Good moments With Oussama... c’était parfait encore merci Il est trop marrant , un très bon guide rien à dire
