My tour Guide MAHMOUD BADR through Deluxe Travel. was very educated on the history of Egypt, did a tour of Coptic Cairo, some shopping and lunch. He was passionate about the stories and English was good, the car was clean and nice.

HOSNI is the man!

We had an AMAZING day with our guide Hosni and his incredible driver Essam We visited amazing churches and Hosnis knowledge of all things Egyptian was so helpful and insightful. We were so impressed that I asked him if he could take us to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquaties and not only did he do that, but he took us to an amazing restaurant on the Nile and got us a ride to our hotel and the airport. I HIGHLY recommend Hosni as a tour guide!

Must Do on an Egypt Trip!!

Mohamed was the BEST tour guide!! He had such patience with all my questions, told me the history of Cairo, the different churches and society. He took great pictures and let me sit and enjoy the sites for as long as I wanted. He was very polite and engaging, and double checked with me throughout the tour on my comfort level or if I had any more questions.

Good tour of important historical religious sites.

Zizou is an educated and respectful tour guide. The tour covered some wonderful Coptic Christian locations. It was a nice half day trip for our family of 6.

A Must Do!!! Visit the Incredible St. Simon “Tanner” Monestary & St. Marcos “Cave Church”!

This was our last day & tour scheduled on our 2 week vacation through Jordan & Egypt and we were still able to be wowed 🤩🤩🤩 by what we saw. We were the only 2 people on the tour so we essentially had a private tour with our fantastic & entertaining guide, Mahmoud, and amazing driver also named, Mahmoud. Both made the experience memorable as we were so impressed with the driver’s ability & skill in safely navigating the narrow streets of Garbage City & the crazy traffic of Cairo. Ofcourse our guide, Mahmoud, was fabulously entertaining as he enthusiastically shared detailed information at each site we visited and then allowed us free time for photos. We were never rushed and the pace was perfect. Since we had already seen a few of the sights on the list, we opted to have lunch and our guide took us to the Old Cairo Restaurant that had great food (the kofta was amazing!), clean bathrooms and very reasonably priced. The highlight was definitely the St. Simon “Tanner” Monestary & the adjacent St Marcos Cave Church which was the main reason we booked this tour. We really also appreciated that the itinerary had them as the first stop of the tour as both were so unique and incredible to see. Overall, the highest recommendation for this tour and a definite MUST do in Cairo.

Fascinating tour

My friend and I had a great time. Mohamed Gomaa was so knowledgeable. He introduced us to the history in an enjoyable way and also gave us all the time we needed at the different sites. I recommend this tour as a way to get an overview of Cairo's religious history.

Tour never showed

I booked this tour and the company never showed for it. There was no cancellation and no update from them (unresponsive to my messages) until I contacted this platform. I only had a limited amount of time in Cairo and I was really looking forward to it. I understand life happens. People get sick, etc. But to be a no show…that is just completely unprofessional. And if they couldn’t manage the booking the booking should not have been allowed to happen in the first place.

It was really worth to have this tour and we learned a lot and had very good time. Thanks to our guide.

Zanaty is the best guide!

Zanaty is a great guide. He gave a very in-depth historical explanation of Coptic Cairo. He is a great storyteller so we (including our six-year-old daughter) were never bored. He is also very organized with the logistics and the scheduling of activities so we were able to visit all the sites on this tour. He also went the extra mile and accommodated our request to have a take-out of koshary at the end of our trip. Truly one of the best guides in Egypt!

Great tour to do solo or in group

The tour was exactly what I expected. Zizou was extremely professional and polite. He showed incredible knowledge of Egyptian culture. He took his time, answered all my questions and at the end of each tour he gave me time to take photos and enjoy the place I visited. Furthermore, the driver was always ready at the end of each tour and knew very well how to drive in Cairo. Which from my point of view is very complicated.

Tour guide spent more time on his phone than he did with us. Tour was supposed to include water and it did not.

An interesting trip!

We reserved a group tour, but ended up we had a private tour experience. Zizou was very flexible and knowledgeable! Our flight was late and we were very tired , so the company delayed our starting time. We’re very grateful! During the trip we saw all the churches and Zizou explained the history and the historical background to us. We learned a lot!

Amazing tour of Churches in Cairo

Mohamed was our tour guide and reached out to with us prior to our trip. Mohamed is very knowledgeable about the history of the 6 churches and Synagogue we visited and it shows. My sister and I throughly enjoyed our time with Mohamed. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn more about church history in Cairo. I highly recommend it.

Informative

The guide was punctual to pick us up at the hotel. He came with the driver 10 minutes earlier and waited at the entrance of the hotel. He is informative and gave us enough time to tour the churches. In the tour, he provided us the relevant information of the churches.

Great tour to the churces of Cairo

Great tour to the churces of Cairo. We saw first two of the big cave churces, the summer and the winter churces. Then we get to old Cairo to see the other curces and the synagog. Our very clever and friendly guide, Zizou, told us a lot of interesting things about the churces , the coptic chistianity and other things.

Excellent tour of Christian sites in Cairo

An amazing tour of Coptic Churches in Cairo, as well as the Jewish Synagogue. Mahmoud is a knowledgeable guide and answered all my questions. I had time to walk around and explore the churches. The tour was exactly what I was looking for. Our driver, Mo got us around Garbage City and provided great transportation for the tour.

Comprehensive guide of Cairo’s religious history.

Mohammed was a fabulous guide. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about his country and it’s history. He was gracious and kind. Moved at the perfect pace, never felt rushed. I would highly recommend this tour. His driver was the best we have had in Egypt.

Great Tour

Our tour guide Abanoub was exceptional. He contacted us right away and was prompt on his arrival. I explained that we had two ladies with disabilities and he was very compassionate about their needs. The tour was excellent since Abanoub spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable about Coptic Cairo. He took the time to take group photos on our phones in multiple locations throughout our tour. I would definitely recommend that you select Abanoub as your Egyptologist when you visit Cairo Egypt.

Coptic Churches in Cairo

We thoroughly enjoyed our half day Coptic Churches tour in Cairo with Abanoub! We started in the Hanging Church, with Abanoub providing an overview of how to recognize the architecturally distinguishing features of Coptic and Orthodox churches. He then told us of the story of the miracle credited to that location in the 10th century, where the prayers of the Coptic Pope in the Hanging Church were answered in a vision, that intercepted with the faith of St Simon, resulting in Mokattam mountain being literally moved by faith! Mokattam mountain is now the home of the largest Coptic Church - the Cave Church. We then visited the Church of St George (Greek Orthodox), and the Church of St Sergius which is situated over a 1st AD Cavern Church. The cavern is believed to have housed the Holy Family for 3 months during their escape to Egypt to seek refuge from King Herod's decree. We then saw Synagogue Ben Ezra, which was converted to a Synagogue from a Coptic Church. Abanoub and our driver went above and beyond to take us to the Cave Church. The afternoon we visited was the funeral service for a recently deceased Coptic bishop. We were unable to see the inside of the church, however we were very appreciative to see the exterior of the church along with the many carvings in the mountain. Abanoub speaks excellent English and is a very informative and engaging guide. He invited us to join him for lunch (not included in the tour) at a local's spot close to our hotel for a delicious dish called Koshari. During lunch we learned he is a university trained and licensed Egyptologist! We highly recommend this tour and Abanoub!

Coptic Cairo

It was an amazing experience to Coptic, Cairo. Our friend and guide Abanoud was amazing. His understanding and knowledge of subject matter was truly inspiring and I’m definitely motivated to visit back Egypt again just to see some more of this place and learn about it. If you ever decide to come back please ask for Abanoud, he’ll make sure you have an experience to remember 🫡😌

Coptic Tour

Abanoub was a terrific tourist guide. He explained the history of Coptic area in detail along with an explanation of the architecture of the churches in the area. It was an amazing experience. Towards the end of the trip, we asked him about a good restaurant to get Koshary. He was kind enough to not just recommend one but take us there :) Thanks for the wonderful tour!

Great start to Egypt trip

Tito was an excellent Guide on our Coptic Cairo tour. He has an incredible wealth of information and went above and beyond to show us the sights and explain the history. Tito was happy to answer our questions about life in Egypt and its history. Has been a great way to start our trip in Egypt.

I had many favorite moments, so it’s very difficult to select only one because each place an event is different and unique and its own way. Henry was an exceptional tour guide, a font of knowledge.

Half day not spent well

Had an awesome day with Mohamed Gomaa and Anwan visiting the churches and the Egyptian Museum of Civilisation. Mohamed is extremely knowledgeable and was able to share a lot about each of the places we visited. Thank you team for a wonderful first day in Egypt😃

Day tour of Coptic and Cave Churches

This tour was well worth it. The tour van picked us up in front of our hotel right on time at 10:00 am and dropped us off around 4:30 at the end of the tour. Hosni, our tour guide was very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. Mustafa was an excellent driver. We toured some of the coptic churches first and had many great photos. The legend is that Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus stayed in a room under one of these churches during their flight from Bethlehem to Egypt. We also had a tour of a large mosque, and Hosni gave us a great deal of information there. Next, he took us to 4 shops nearby. The first was a papyrus art shop where they showed us how papyrus was made, and then painted on. We had the option of buying any of the many pieces that were for sale there. The second shop was one that dealt in essential oils. Here we had a brief lesson on these oils, and their purity. We were able to sample many of them. Many were fragrant oils that could be used as perfume or aftershave. Again, we had the option of purchasing here as well. The third shop had a lot of teas and such. The fourth was a jewelry shop. All of the shops were good quality, I would say. We were offered juice at each one. There was very little pressure to buy, which was nice. We did buy a number of items. Next, we drove through an interesting section of Cairo, called Garbage City, where the people sort through all the recyclable waste. It is a sight you will not forget. We drove through without stopping, and then all of a sudden we were through, and almost immediately were at the cave churches. There are 2 cave churches, a summer one, which is has an open side, and a smaller, closed-in one. This is the older of the two. This was very fascinating, as they are carved right out of the rock. In addition, there are many reliefs carved into the stone, depicting various Biblical events. I found this to be very interesting indeed. We ended up stopping for shawarma, a local sandwich type food, on the way back to the hotel. It was quite good. I highly recommend this tour. Just make sure you bring enough water, and also something to eat, as there is no lunch included.

Smooth day visiting churches!

I came to Cairo in the morning and did not want to leave the day without plans having no hotel, so I booked this tour, also because I wanted to see the place I’d be attending Liturgy at the next day (St. George) and confirm Liturgy start time. As others have mentioned, some of the time of this tour is spent on going to a couple (totally unrelated) shops—a perfumery and a papyrus shop. (I was really not pressured to buy anything, though!) But my guide Hosni was very friendly and I really appreciate having his company on my first day. He took me to the largest mosque in Africa (near the churches) as a treat since I expressed interest!

Fantastic time

Mohamed Gomma was the perfect guide! We saw an amazing side to Egypt and had a chance to go shopping with his help bartering. His knowledge of Egypt was amazing, too. We learned all about the hanging church and the history of the area the churches are in. Thank you so much Mohamed! If anyone is curious about learning more about Egypt, this is a wonderful experience- do it!

Complete waste of my time.

Did not take me to the cave church, which was my goal. Didn’t know it was going to be closed. I would’ve expected, with his over 20 years of experience that he spoke about frequently, he would’ve known whether it was going to be open or closed. Requested that we went early in the morning before services, he said, no, we will go in the afternoon, and then it was closed. However, we learned it was open before services, so if we’d gone when I asked, it would’ve been open.

Old churches Cairo

We had a great time with Mo and Anwar exploring the old churches of Cairo. Anwar’s driving was amazing and Mo’s knowledge of history really enhanced our tour.

Easy tour with helpful guides

Our tour guide was Mo and driver was Waleed. Pickup was right on time and transport between the various spots was quick and easy. Mo was knowledgeable on all of the sites we visited and happily answered all of our questions. Mo and Waleed were friendly and they made this tour a great experience. Would recommend.

My Guide, Mahmoud badr was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He also ensured that I was well hydrated throughout the tour. My Driver, Mahmoud Dia expertly navigated the traffic.

A deep dive into the Christian history of Epypt

We had a very good day with Bassam(guide). He is very friendly and customer orientated. Since the Jewish synagogue was closed due to the renovation, he filled our wishes to go to Citadell instead, which was really flexible. Bassam speaks excellent English, is really knowledgeable and explained lots of details from the ancient egyptian history, which we enjoyed a lot.

Tito, our guide, did a great job of “bringing alive” the Coptic churches through stories and his vast knowledge of the church’s history. Highly recommend the tour. We learned so much.

Great tour

This is a fantastic part of the world and I am glad I got to do this tour. Mr. Gomaa and the accompanying driver did a great job. They arrived at my hotel for pick up at the appointed time (even a few minutes early, which was great). They explained to me everything and were accommodating to my requests to get back to the hotel a little earlier due to other commitments on my end. Mr. Gomaa explained the history behind the sites and beyond, and was attentive to my needs. He was polite and friendly. I would gladly recommend your tours to others. There was a slight miscommunication regarding a 60% extra charge for pick up outside central Cairo (this had nothing to do with Mr. Gomaa or the driver but rather the booking website). Even though the booking website indicates that pick-up is on centrally located hotels, it would be easy to indicate "surcharge applies when outside central Cairo or Giza" It is a five star service, though, and well worth it. Thanks for the hospitality!

Coptic tour

Today my husband & I toured Coptic Cairo with guide Mo and driver Omar. Both men were warm & welcoming when they picked us up at the hotel at the agreed time. Mo is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable & accommodating. After seeing St George’s, the Hanging Church & the church of St Sergius, we ventured through garbage city to get to the church of St Simon. Omar drove us with great skill & even took us to Felfela to pick up a lunch. So glad we chose to do this tour with Deluxe Travel Egypt.

Magical , awesome, amazing experience of a lifetime

All, it fits my belief and tour guide was very nice, patient. Have good knowledge. The 3 churches visited were beautiful, good sites and best part of my visit to Egypt.

Worth seeing

We enjoyed this tour showcasing various churches around Cairo with their different architecture and historical background. Our guide (sorry I can´t remember his name) is a Coptic Christian so he had many insights into the culture and history. Our driver from the same company was Ramadan who is very polite and a great driver. The ride through the garbage village going to St. Samaan Church in Mokattam Mountain was an interesting experience. Really nice having a private tour instead of a large group like we saw.

Thrilling look into life in Cairo

What a fantastic time we had exploring the streets of Cairo today through the lens of history and modern-day merchants. It was overwhelming, chaotic, exhilarating and educational in the best possible way. Our guide, Tito, shared the history and culture of Egypt in such a gracious, generous and friendly manner. I cannot recommend this tour enough. We started with the sun up and ended with the busy nights of the city and Khan el Khalili market. It was a perfect tour which ended with a ride back to our hotel by or friendly driver, Mr. Ruby (pardon the spelling).

Great tour guide and fascinating experience

We had a great tour with Rasha yehia Mubarak. She’s very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. We especially enjoyed the cave churches in the garbage collector community. Highly recommend!

Great tour!

Titto was the best! Great experience, he learned all of our names. Best of all, many of the vendors avoided us for the most part. Titto was great at showing off the secret spots.
