Great day in Alexandria

Our driver picked us up from our accommodations very promptly and our guide was wonderful. She had a clear passion for the sites of Alexandria and gave us plenty of detail with still time to explore. The day was also reasonably paced; we didn't spend too long or too short of a time at any specific location. We booked the all-inclusive package with lunch, which was underwhelming and not worth the 20 pounds extra (also didn't include drinks), but the day itself was excellent.

Great Tour!

We had an incredible time in Alexandria. Our driver, Joseph, was very friendly and gave us lots of interesting information about the areas we were driving through on our journey from Cairo. We felt safe on the drive and he offered us breaks when needed. When we arrived, we met our guide Samira, who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the sites she was showing us around. An unexpected favourite of ours were the catacombs, which were really interesting. Samira had great local knowledge and was able to recommend a good fish restaurant for lunch. We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a quick introduction to Alexandria.

Great Historical City, Wonderful Driver, Average Guide

It was our first day in Egypt, and our 3-hour car journey from Cairo to Alexandria was pleasant. The driver, Abdullah, was on time, polite and he did his best to converse with us in English (with assistance from Google Translate). He helped me brushed up my Arabic in a fun way by asking me to read the car number plates as we drove past them. Our guide was a young mother of two. While she was fluent in English, she gave us a skim-through summary of each site and gave us 15-20 minutes (instead of an hour as per the itinerary) to view the site! In short, we felt rushed. To be fair to her, however, the heat and the piercing sun rays were draining us by noon and so, we did not ask for a longer duration. Alexandria is a great city and worth the visit. We wish we had more energy to absorb its rich history and culture. Lunch (USD20 per pax at own cost) at the Fish Market was good! We had the best table there - a corner table facing the Mediterranean Sea; the grilled fish (main course) was fresh and delicious. As it was Ramadan, our guide was fasting and so, she sat waited for us at a table near the entrance of the restaurant while we ate. In the end, we decided to tip the driver more than the Guide.

Cairo to Alexandria

To and fro journey between Cairo and Alexandria was great. Our driver was super good , journey was very smooth. We spent only half day as Library was closed always on Friday. If you don’t want to miss library please don’t go to Alexandria on Friday.

Hit and miss

Our driver was great. The stops in alexandria were interesting. I felt like the guide could have done more to bring the history and importance of alexandria to life We were also charged extra to have a stop of lunch for some reason, but were still back in Cairo by 4pm after leaving at 615. So didn't really take any extra time.

Our guide was very personable, professional and informative, we enjoyed the detailed explanations she provided to us.

Well worthwhile!

Alexandria is a beautiful city and very worth visiting. Ghada was a fantastic guide. So knowledgeable but also not just facts. She made it interesting and intriguing. The drive from Cairo on the desert road was an experience - great driver, but crazy traffic on the way back. This is definitely the way to do a day trip to Alexandria. Our only comment is fortunately we brought some water bottles. The description on the website said we would get a water bottle each and we did not.

Beautiful Day in Alexandria

I had an excellent day tour. My driver was right on time picking me up. My guide was very knowledgeable and she was great at making sure all my questions were answered and helped get a deeper understanding of the city and culture of Alexandria. I didn't feel rushed at any of the sites and was able to enjoy the entire day.

Long drive, wonderful sights, delicious lunch!

If you are a nervous passenger, the 229km drive is not for you. Egyptian traffic is manic and chaotic! However, our driver was excellent and we got there and back without a major incident. The tour in Alexandria itself is worthwhile, different to Cairo with interesting sights. Our guide Mahmoud was very dedicated and informative, we enjoyed his talks. We had an amazing included lunch at a sea front restaurant, 4 of us had the traditional Alexandrian fish and rice meal plus mezze. Fish was incredibly fresh and tasty, a whole grilled fish! Delicious. Other options were available to non fish eaters, equally good. We were tired after a 12 hour day but it was totally worthwhile for a multi-generational family! 😁😁😁

Excellent service and value

Pick up and drop off from our hotel in Cairo was seamless. Our tour guide in Alexandria was knowledgeable, and we were able to see a lot for one day.

Alexandria is Amazing!

Great Day Out away From Cairo

The tour was great. I can recommend to do it if you have spare day as Alexandria was full interesting of Greek+Egyptian history and places.

The driver, Shibu was very friendly and courteous and our family connected with him immediately. He planned the day well and included sufficient breaks. The tour guide, Neermi was also equally friendly, had sufficient knowledge about the history of the places we visited.

Alexandria the Greatest!

My only regret is that we didn’t have more time in Alexandria. We were met at our hotel in Cairo by fun and friendly driver, Ahmed with whom we spent a long day to and from Cairo. Booyah!! Mahmed, our tour guide in Alexandria was exceptional! His knowledge and expertise, and his friendliness made for a wonderful experience. Highly, highly recommended.

Nice day trip to Alexandria, covering some notable landmarks and sites.

The tour starts with pickup from Cairo and transportation via a private van towards Alexandria. The drive was approximately 2.5 hours. During that time we had a comfortable nap and were given cool bottles of water. Upon reaching Alexandria, we started with a visit to the catacombs where a noble and some families were buried. Afterwhich we went to a greek/Egyptian amphitheatre excavated within the city. We had some issues after at the Citadel by the bay, as the ticketing system had issues. They only accept payments via card (no cash). So we canceled that part and went straight to lunch at a restaurant called 'fish market'. This restaurant has an amazing view over the bay and the food was really good! The fish served was fresh and it came with an accomapniment of dishes and sauces. Definitely a highlight of the tour. Thereafter, we went to the last site which was the new library of Alexandria. The inside of which, was very impressive due to the mix of modern islamic architecture and large open volume of the study hall. If you are a person who appreciates libraries and academic works, this is a must see. Overall, our guide Safira was able to explain well in english for each site and we would recommend you take her. We enjoyed our tour and would recommend anyone who wants to get a quick visit of Alexandria.

A beautiful day out

Had a wonderful time with Waleed (tour guide) and Ahmed (driver). Both were warm and accomodating. This was probably the best day I had during my 4 day trip to Egypt. Waleed was super knowledgeable and shared great insights and history. He felt more like a friend than a tour guide and made me have lots of fun. The lunch on the Mediterranean was the best part of the day and I enjoyed all the sites as well. I hope I get to see Waleed again some day. They made me fall in love with Alexandria.

Marwah our Tour guide from Egypt Tour Portal is a lovely lady. We only spent half a day at Alexandria from Cairo but she made sure that we had a good time at Alexandria. She was patient enough to answer all our questions and learned more about Alexandria. Highly recommended tour guide if you will visit Alexandria.

Educational day tour to Alexandria

We had a great tour to Alexandria. Driver Yousef and tour guide Said from Emo Tours were very nice! Said was very knowledgeable and could answer every question we asked. Yousef was a great driver and very friendly person. It is really not easy to drive in Egypt. Just a need to leave a note for improvement. We had lunch included and arranged in some restaurant/ or cafe in Alexandria. The place was clean and waiters were polite though the food was very average in comparison with what we ate before and after this tour in other places in Egypt. The manager of the dining room was even rude to us. We felt pushed and disrespected. Emo Tours, please use different dining facility in Alexandria. Everything else was great! Thank you

Great Trip

The catacombs and library were definitely the most interesting and amazing spots of the tour. Both the guide and driver were super helpful and kind. Would recommend!

My driver Armo Mousfata outperfomed the tour guide!!! He has shown me around so many places, explained culture and historical sites to me in a clear and concise manner. Armo was so caring and treated everyone with absolute kindness and support, you really can’t ask more from Armo. He’s the best that I ever met in Egypt! We became a friend. Armo is a man with integrity and can be trusted. Make sure you ask for this driver (he’s better than my tour guide) when you book the next trip! Your journey will be more fun and worthy if you travel with Armo.

Nice trip a must visit if you are in Cairo.

The city of Alexandria is known through the ages. I was so pleasant to see the city, it blue coast line, the catacomb, roman theatre, Pompey pillar and the castle. The lunch on the trip was tasty and filling. The guide Mr. Eslam was a knowledgeable person an gave full information of all the places we visited. He helped us by taking lots of photos from strategic position. The driver Hasan is perfect gentleman and on both from Cairo to Alexandria and back took lot of care.

Excellent day trip of Alexandria

We went on a day trip from Cairo to Alexandria with Emo tours. The trip was truly enjoyable and we covered Alexandria‘s top sights in about 5 hours. Our guide Rania is very friendly and knowledgeable in Egyptology and we learnt a lot about ancient Egyptian beliefs and history from her. We were not rushed in any of the sites and Rania was happy for us to have free roaming time at each site which is a bonus. Lunch is included for our package - there was an option of kofta, chicken, or fish - I went for the kofta and it was delicious. There is also an optional visit to a papyrus and perfume shop but there was no pressure for us to do so. We did go and smelled tested a variety of perfumes which was an interesting experience for me! Also to add is that the drive from Cairo. was long(ish) at about 3 hours each way. But our driver was punctual and friendly all along the way which made the journey easier. All in all I found the day trip enjoyable and an efficient way to visit Alexandria. Thank you Rania (and driver)!

Nice an interesting day at Alexandria

Driver Ahmed was on time and a very friendly and funny guy. We really enjoyed our tour to and from Alexandria. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly too. Her explanations about the sites we visted were interesting. It was a very pleasant and wel organized trip. We truly enjoyed the tour!

Great guide and driver. Unforgettable experience.

We were so amazed with everything! The catacombs, the Citadel, the Mediterranean Sea, the library. Our guide, Marwa, was so knowledgeable and helped to clear up misconceptions we had, particularly about Cleopatra. The lunch was delicious! We don't prefer fish, and our guide found us a delicious chicken wrap with fries. The only surprise is that we had to put the fees on our card, but we were reimbursed in Egyptian pounds. The company should really give the guide a company card for that, but all is well. Everything was fair and above board. Extra good driver and guide.

A City Full of History

We had a wonderful time with Iryni as our guide. She was very knowledgeable about her city, and the many eras in its history. This history tour was the perfect overview for our limited time in Alexandria!

The package was good....

The package was good. However, the new city should be shown a little. The guide Rania was great. Over all good.

Alexandria from Cairo with a great lunch for a good price

This was a nice tour and we got to see very interesting places, the downfall for our group was that the library was close the day we did the tour and I was very into going inside the famous Alexandria library. If they would’ve let us know we could have gone another day. The lunch was great and we learned a lot about Alexandria.

Not worth it

The tour started well. Our tour guide lady was very nice and knowledgeable. Till about mid- way she started telling us 2 words and leaving us “explore” by ourselves. The driver almost got in an accident- twice. If you can just skip Alexandria. Not worth the money and time.

Rania made our trip

Rania was an amazing guide. We were picked up from the hotel. Our driver didn't speak English but it wasn't an issue at all. He was very kind and had cold water ready for us. Rania met us in Alexandria. She knew the answer to every question I asked, no matter how big or how small. She grew up in Alexandria and spent 7 years studying Egyptian history. I asked her if I was annoying her with my questions and her face lit up as she said "I love these questions, they make my heart so happy when people want to know more"! She guided us through ruins, the library, and ordered lunch for us before departing. My only tip for others is to bring snacks. We weren't able to eat lunch until 4:30p because all of the sites close at 5p and we wouldn't have had time to fit it all in. Excellent experience and absolutely phenomenal guide, Rania.

Alexandria is a must-see destination

Mahmoud is a great knowledgeable guide with a friendly disposition. The trip from Cairo airport to Alexandria is quite long but well worth it. Both Mahmoud and the driver were very accommodating of our needs

The guide Karim was awesome. He was friendly, accommodating, and went out of his way to explain things very clearly. He was clearly gifted for this type of work and represented your company exceedingly well. My girlfriend and I will definitely recommend him and the driver to our friends.

Great experience, worth the trip

Our guide Rania Elsihy was very helpful and knowledgeable. She was a very friendly guide and our driver was a very good driver as well as pleasant company. The trip was very enjoyable and we saw all the main sites and learnt a lot about them from Rania.

Trip to Alexanderia from Cario

The driver and tour guide were quite good, flexible and were on time according to schedule. I will strongly recommend this company for anybody who wishes to take a day trip to Alexandria from Cario.

A very nice day in Alexandria!

Our day tour in Alexandria was very full, interesting and insightful, giving us the best that the city has to offer. Our guide Mahmut was instrumental for this great experience being a very kind person as well as knowledgeable, with a deep background on the history of Egyptian, Greek and Roman times.

Tour guide in Alexandria

We really loved the tour. Heba was the perfect guide for anyone to have! Always polite, full of knowledge and funny.. Really made our tour in Alexandria memorable! Hope we meet her again at another tour when we come back at Egypt one day! Alexandria has so much history and some things are still hidden! Not only on the ground but in the sea too! This is so mind blowing! I really hope that the government will take the appropriate actions and reveal all these hidden gems and treasures in Alexandria. I hope that some day, an underwater museum will be built in Alexandria, since there are whole cities hidden in the sea.

Worst tour ever

This tour isn't good at all! There's only two sites worth seeing which is the catacombs and citadel. Beware if you do this tour especially without the guide. The tourist police is crooked. They forced me and my family to pay them while we were looking around. We felt helpless and beyond terrified. The police inside wouldn't let us leave until we paid him and it's not like you have a choice because he's the police holding a semi automatic gun in his hand. We recorded the whole experience and still can't believe what happened to us. This isn't safe if you don't have a guide and if you're traveling with your family like I did. Don't do this tour at all!

Excellent driver, guide needs improvement

Driver “E” was great, arrived on time for collection and made the drive there and back entertaining and fun. Locations visited were great also. However that’s where the good. The local guide, will call her “C”. Arrived 45mins late and no apology for the lateness (not a great start). Meaning we had to wait outside the library in the car for her. Once in the library building she proceeded to show us the museum then out the exit we went (please keep in mind we didn’t actually go into the library section). She then guided us to the Vodafone shop to top up her phone. Where I asked where the actual library with the art and books was. So she said it was back where we had come from. So back we went and this time to the library section (architecture was amazing and definitely worth a visit). The citadel, the Roman theatre were worth the visit too. Overall excellent driver bower actual tour guide and tour could be improved upon.

Good for a day trip

This was great! Although not a ton to do in Alexandra IMO. The library and citadel were nice. I asked my driver to take me to the beach and showed him which one, but he didn’t seem to know how to get there. A day trip to Alexandria is probably plenty.

Little bit of Rome in Egypt!

The driver and guide were amazing. Lots of interesting things to see- a must do day trip when in Cairo. The history of the city is crazy with the roman influences mixed in with the Arab world. Make sure you know it will be a full day trip- traffic can be a bit crazy, but the driver was amazing and able to handle it.
