I was disappointed with...

I was disappointed with this tour. I don't have any photos to post because we spent almost the entire time in the back of a van parked on the side of the street. While we were in the van, the tour guide visited several local food vendors and brought food back to the van. The food was mediocre. The van was cramped so it was not ideal for spending a long period of time. Near the end of the tour, we were taken to an authentic coffee shop where the tour guide left us after a few minutes. Before leaving, I inquired as to whether it was typical for women to visit these types of coffee shops and the tour guide responded no. I was left to wonder why he would then bring our group, consisting of two women, to a place that was not frequented by women.

Food tour at night

Great tour guide Bishoo! We got off the plane and didn't want to waste the first evening here as we had a short trip. He Took us to parts of Cairo we would never have explored by ourselves. Tasted some great food - he was very patient and planned the evening perfectly. We had a felucca ride at sunset and tasted koshari. He was keen to give us the best first impression of Cairo

That was perfect start in Cairo to try local oriental Egyptian food with Ahmed and driver isamil. Our kids like Egyptian dessert too , guide spoke with us about life and traditional in Cairo , so happy

Okay experiece

Very kind leader. We arrived at first stop for koshary just as noon prayers began so we watched the praying and walked around. Good dish. Then we went to a papyrus shop, chain restaurant then perfumery. Got take out falafel on the way to extremely short felucca ride. An easy introduction for first day in Cairo. Learning was limited. He was a good driver. I gave suggestions to owner/manager instead of a review until he asked again.

A very local experience

I would recommend this trip to anyone arriving in Cairo. Besho picked us up at the hotel and took us downtown to try some incredible local street food. The tour lasted around 2 hours and we got to try variety of lovely local dishes and had some really interesting conversations. He was very helpful giving us local tips and we will definitely visit the restaurants we tried again before we leave here!

Very local food for the food adventurers

We being from Asia always want to try local delicacies. Booked this local food tour and it was an adventure because you definitely need a local to bring you around. The food are all scattered in Old Cairo and all signages are in Arabic. We had our lovely guide Bisho who has been very accommodating. Our food journey included: Stop #1 koushary - this is such a comfort food but filling as well Stop #2 fruits of meat aka beef intestine stuffed with rice and beef offal Stop #3 rice pudding Stop #4 kunafa Stop #5 falafel and ful sandwiches

The best food ever

The food was so delicious and authentic! We got a taste of the locals life in Giza. Moaz is a great guide 😊 Our favourites were the Koshary and falafel

Great local experience

Amazing experience! Moaz did such a great job guiding us around town to local spots. We stopped for coffee, koshari, falafel, shawarma and fries, and sugar cane juice. We also did a boat ride on the Nile and Moaz is great at taking photos of us! Highly recommend.

Fantastic First tour

My friends and I had just arrived in Egypt and wanted something low key to do while adjusting to the time difference. This was a fantastic introduction to Egypt, which included not only food, but an introduction to many of the traditional crafts as well. Our guide was Eslam and he was amazing! He has a great sense of humour. We felt at home right away. I highly recommend this!

A wonderful introduction to Cairo, with an excellent guide, Eslam

Eslam was our tour guide for the Cairo Food Tour, and he did a great job—explaining the history of the food he provided as well as the complicated rules surrounding traffic, horn honking, and pedestrians crossing the street. We went to Old Cairo and back to New Cairo trying several different types of Egyptian food, and at one point we sat in a cafe at a roadside table and watched the bustling traffic and passersby. It was a wonderful introduction to the city, and Eslam did a great job.

Amazing country

Amazing country. People are friendly and welcoming but generally want you to buy something or pay for something, nothing is free in Egypt. Uber is definitely a great way to get around. Traffic is hectic at best. Good horn, good brakes, good luck. Nile cruises are brilliant. Would be an amazing way to see everything by starting at the bottom of the country and just cruise along getting off to see all the sites along the way. Airbnb are great options to hotels. Haggle prices on everything, at least 50-75% discount or you're probably paying too much. Street food is great, generally clean, generally cooked well, use google maps and trip advisor to find food. I found Egyptian pounds a little easier to manage particularly for tips than breaking larger notes and getting change for USD or euro. If you can find a place that will break larger notes they will expect a tip. Tips between 10-50 EPG for most services. Tour guides around 100-200 EPG. Random people that stop and talk to you generally will try and sell you something, direct you to a particular shop, give you directions or misdirected you and expect payment to take you back. Nothing in Egypt is free. All part of the adventure. I'd go back in a second! Perhaps in Jan and not Sept, 39⁰ everyday is too hot for me. Most places accept visa

You have to get Moaz as your tour guy!

Really good time with Moaz (really mellow and nice person with really good English) walking on the streets of the real Cairo (not the tourist version), entering restaurants and trying the local cuisine with the locals that are really nice and have a smile on their faces. 5 STARS REVIEW TO THE TOUR AND 6 STARS TO MOAZ!!!

Local eats

We had a great time and ate a lot of local food. We took a private ride on the falucca and enjoyed the whole tour. Moaz was a wonderful guide 🙏

Well organised znd timed itinerary

We had a very productive and interesting half day with Assem. We did felluca ride and food tour, as well as asked for an extension of a sound and light show at the pyramids. Well organized and timed itinerary. Felucca ride was private, purely sail powered traditional boat, very interesting rigging. The food part was shosen to reflect trsditional food, as egyptians eat in their every day life. We spread food over with breaks in between. In thr breaks we stopped at the common tourist spots, like papyrus store as well as we watched the sound and light show. Assem is a very calm and kind person, with professional attitude. Tgank you!

Moaz was great! Took me to local restaurants and explained everything I was eating. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cultural experience.

Eslam is an excellent tour guide! He is the safest driver we have been with. We highly recommend him! The tour was interesting. Sort of half food tour and half shopping tour. We enjoyed it all. Koshary, falafel, and a visit to a tea shop. We could have had shawarma but were too full. We also visited a papyrus museum, perfume house, and an Egyptian cotton store. All and all, a great way to see parts of Cairo you would never know about. Truly wonderful to interact with locals.

Nice food and culture tour

Assem was our tour leader. We enjoyed his extensive knowledge of Egyptian culture and history. We enjoyed the dishes at the small eateries especially the falafel sandwich and koshary. We also saw the the pyramids at sunset. Good mix of culture and food.

DOAA our tour guide is very knowledgeable on their history, brought us to papyrus which is very educational for me. ATV ride was an adventure for us. What I like most is that they make our safety a priority.

Best experience ever!

My husband and I had a FANTASTIC time on our guided tour, led by Theresa and Islam! Theresa was fun and educational, and all of their recommendations led us to have an adventure-filled day seeing the Pyramids, riding camels and ATV’s, and visiting shops with beautiful goods from paintings to jewelry to fine fabrics. We will remember this day for the rest of our lives! Oh, and her photography skills were 100%! She helped us get the best photos with the pyramids, and knew all the best poses for great memories. Amazing tour experience

Karim was an amazing tour guide. We learned so much and he was great to joke/have a conversation with. When I come back I’m definitely reaching out to him. Made us feel like we were at home. Our driver Mohammed was also very nice and helpful.

Fun Tour

Fun food tour with Ehab and Mahmood (driver). Got an overview of Cairo, a brief history lesson of Egypt, stopped at a few souvenir places, and ate some food we never would have the chance to try.

What an amazing tour! I highly recommend it for anyone and everyone- we would have never gone to any of the places that we did on our own. Ahmed was our tour guide. He is so knowledgeable about Egypt and shared a lot with us. The places he took us to were all fun and delicious! Wonderful tour of true Cairo with excellent food!

What an experience

What a beautiful experience to get to know the Egypt culture. Hosted by Ahmed who was amazing, sense of humour and made us feel so welcome in his country. A must try to hang with the locals and eat some delicious, famous Egyptian meals.

Amazing, safe, informative, awesome

Iam Ahmed pick my husband and I up from the airport on May 23rd. We were planning on going straight to the hotel room since we had just been on a plane for 17hrs. However on the way there he did such an awesome job telling us about the city that we decided to do a food tour. The food was absolutely amazing!!! We felt safe and well informed about every area we were in. He offered to take photos (which was awesome seeing as I’m usually the one taking the photos!) he was so friendly and took us to authentic places in Egypt! I HIGHLY recommend having him as your guide!

Wonderful experience with the best local people.

Ahmed (Hamdy) was extremely pleasant to ride around with. He took us local places with authentic and delicious food. He explained very well what each food was and what we could expect from each flavor. He also took us to a local sugar cane juice joint where we could see how the Juice is extracted and we could drink is right away. Freshest food with the best local people. Off the beaten path culinary tour

Ehab gave my family the most legitimate culinary tour of Cairo city that I could have asked for. We were here during Ramadan so we started a little later which was no problem at all. We first stopped for vegetarian sandwiches, then enjoyed chai and shishah at a local cafe, meat plate, fresh pressed sugar cane juice, and then a take home container of koshery. All while driving thru the beautifully lit and lively city and bazaars that make up Cairo. So fun and totally off the beaten path.

The best food tour in Cairo

We had a wonderful food tour with Ahmed. Because of Ramadan he happily changed the tour to nighttime and it was great. He picked us up promptly and we had a great drive through Old Cairo and had so much fun. We tried koshary, falafel, beans in pita, halal meats, pickled vegetables, tea, coffee, sugar cane juice, mango baklava, guava. All the vendors were very friendly and accommodating and Ahmed bade the tour do fun and a great immersion in local Egyptian culture.

me and my family just had and finished a great night activity and tried the Egyptian Food Tour.we walk in old Cairo and took nice photos as well . It was a great introduction to the local food . Ahmed was a great guide. the tour include all food we ate , tea at local coffee and sugar cane , high recommended

Disappointing not a walking food tour around the bizarre .

We were disappointed with the tour . We paid $70 each for a private driver and three meals which we later found could be purchased for 200 Le . We read the description and expected a walking tour plus explain nations for meals . Driver was good . Have heard nothing back from tour company since I asked to verify that we had the wrong tour .

Disappointing Guide for Food Tour Our guide did provide local dishes for us to try but was not as knowledgeable as we had hoped on various ingredients used. We also went to papyrus shop and perfume shop although that I as not our focus. We were pressured to provide a review before the tour even finished making us very uncomfortable with our guide. He also took several calls while with us not making us feel important. We lik the idea of this tour but not with this guide and even have concerns with writing this review he may seek us out.
