I loved my street food walking tour of Cairo! My guide took me around to the best places. We had khoshari, falafels, shawarma and pastry. I got to see the real city streets and the places where to go.

The best food tour in Cairo

Manar is the best! She showed us the best spots for delicious Koshary, juicy and flavorful shawarma, the best falafal, and really tasty juices and desserts. She took us for a walk downtown and told us about the history of some of the buildings. It was like sitting down with a family member, she made everything amazing. The driver ismael will get you around safely, he is very kind and knows his way in and out of the Cairo traffic. Definitely book this tour with manar when you are in Cairo! You will not be disappointed!

Good food and nice tour staff!

We wanted a private Cairo food tour for our first full day in Egypt. Our tour guide Manar and driver Ismail were friendly, professional and punctual. We were open to the visit of the Papyrus Institute and the Heaven Essence, and both enterprises were clean, educational, professional and we did not feel pressured to buy. Everything we ate was delicious. Ismail took us everywhere without any hassle, even though the traffic is "unruly" if I must be polite. After the amazing Koshari, we were taken to a secret falafel place, where our guide brought delicious falafel dipped in tahini in a fresh bread (like a sandwich). The falafel was so yummy. She did the same with the Shawarma while we waited in the van. I really wanted to see the places where they cooked our food, so I asked to go with her to get the food next. So she took us with her, where she bought a tray of "oriental pastries" for us to take back to our hotel. They offered to take us to more food, but the rest of my group was too full to go on. We were all too full to eat anything else after the Koshari with salad and pudding, shawarma, and falafel. The experience is very nice, the food portion was large for tasting. This tour is even for those who may not be as adventurous for new cuisines and culture, since I think it was somewhat filtered. I was left wanting for more, since I'm way more adventurous than most. But isn't that what every tour should be, leaving you wanting more?

Awesome food tour and great company!

This food tour was easily one of the best I have been on. Ibrahim was awesome and friendly! Had some of the best food and great company along with it. I would highly recommend going with him and can’t wait to book another tour!

Vegetarian Food Tour

Manar and Mohamed are both really nice. They really did take care of me during my trip. I'm vegetarian, and they brought me to a lot of different places that have good vegetarian food.

Fun, Tasty and Abundant Food tour!

It was for the second time we used "Egypt tours planner" in less than six months . In our first family trip we didn't have the chance to go for the food tour. I came back this time with a friend and decided to give it a go. Our guide was  Ibrahim . He was great and on time. He picked us up from the hotel and took us to downtown to try some local food. The tour lasted around 3 hours and we got to try variety of lovely dishes, such as shawarma, falafel and Koshary. Oh... the crispy fried onion which came with Koshary was divine. 😋 And the sweet to complete our meal was deliiiiicious. We had some really interesting conversations with Ibrahim. He was humble and personable. His knowledge of history and food made the time more enjoyable. I would recommend this incredible tour to anyone visiting Cairo. Ps: make sure do not eat for few hours prior to the tour.

Mixed feelings after the tour

Our guide Khalifa was very friendly and on time. He took us to the downtown area, where we spent approximately 2 hours roaming the same street back and forth. We had shwarma, koshare, some sweets but since we had our lunch too close to tour time, we could not fully eat our portions which Khalifa gladly finished for us. At the end, he bought us the desert box of sweets but since we could not finish it, Khalifa did his best to finish the box himself, which was really weird. We could have taken this box to the hotel and have a tea party with the sweets a little later. Also, he tried to exchange some money for us at the official rate instead of their market rate. I felt used. It was not worth my money.

Stuffed with excellent food

We had a wonderful time with our host. He knows the history and is such a pleasant guy. We never felt rushed and for us that is very important. We are seniors and move a little slower than some, but our guide was very respectful and helpful. We would recommend this tour especially if you have had no exposure to middle eastern food and customs.

Great Egyptian Food Experience

This company is extremely professional, has great communication, and a wonderful staff of guides and drivers. Special thanks tour guide, Khalifa. Khalifa made sure we had a great tour. He's a true professional, ensuring we had sufficient context for each site and restaurant we encountered during our tour. We never felt rushed and were encouraged to ask anything we wanted. I can't recommend this tour enough.

Great food and shop tour of Cairo

Guide Manar and drive Mohamed we’re excellent! The food was great, local and the drinks were refreshing! Stopping off at the papyrus and oil shop was a great time too. Great way to be introduced to Cairo for my wife and I!

Wonderful experience!!

Our tour guide was Manar and we absolutely LOVED our food tour with her!!!! She was so very nice, welcoming, and informative. We got to try authentic Koshary, falafel, pasta desert, chicken sharwarma sandwich, sugarcane juice, and Egyptian coffee and tea. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this tour, and request Manar if you can, she is absolutely AMAZING!!!

Brilliant food tour very happy

Had a lovely time on this tour and had some good local food! My tour guide was really accomodating and made it work for me last minute after I had been let down by another local provider. They couldn't have been nicer and I got a good set of flavors and was full afterwards! I am sure there's loads more to try but it gave me a good flavor and I saw parts of downtown the locals would!

Not just an ordinary food tour in Cairo

Ibrahim was great! We walked through downtown Cairo and he took us to the best places for koshari and flafel. He is very friendly and we talked about everything from architecture and history to our family and dreams. He's one of the best guides I've had on any tour.

Delicious, fun and interesting!

This was a fantastic food tour!! Highly recommend. Ibrahim picked us up in a clean, comfortable car and took us to eat the best food in downtown Cairo! We met the Koshary king of Cairo, ate wonderful shawarma and falafel and gorgeous desserts and ice cream. We learnt a lot and enjoyed hanging out with Ibo who is a great guide.

Great tour

Manar is great! She took really good care of us, explained a lot of information and history of Cairo. Nothing was too much for her. The walking food trail and old city tour is a must. The places we ate are very local and tasted delicious. You feel the energy of this city. Highly recommend if your in Cairo.

A tour of of different food establishments in downtown Cairo

Ibo was an outstanding tour guide. Our flight was delayed and we were over two hours late for our scheduled time. Ibo told us no problem, don’t rush, and waited patiently til we arrived. He then took us to many different eateries, telling us about the history of Egypt and the different buildings we were driving by. We had a great time listening to his amusing stories and we ended at a dessert shop where we met the owner, who gave us sweatshirts and so many desserts we couldn’t even come close to eating all of it. Ibo was the best and me my daughter had a great time. Highly recommend

Great Egyptian Food Tour!

Ibrahim took us to the best, real-deal places for shawarma and koshare, and a real-deal local coffee shop. You learn the culture through food, and this was well worth the time with a friendly, knowledgeable guide.

Walking food trip

Manar was a great guide. We went on a walking tour in Cairo’s downtown area and sampled food popular with the locals: koshari, felafel, shawarma, ice cream and rice pudding (my favorite). Highly recommended!

A day eating like the locals

My guide Manar brought me downtown for a walking food tour. It’s best to have a local accompany you so as to have a foil against random people engaging you in conversation. Egyptians are generally warm and friendly but one has to watch out for the occasional scammer wishing to bring you to the pyramids and ride a camel, vendors, beggar kids who will suddenly hug you for alms and vagabonds out for a dole out. That said, Egyptians are truly a warm people and are generally generous in assisting visitors. Anyway, the food tour. Manar had me try all the common Egyptian foods- koshari, felafel, shawarma, hibiscus juice (nice), ice cream, rice pudding (really nice!). All these I couldn’t have tried on my own as these were really the locals’ daily fare, typically beyond the radar of normal tourists. Such a lovely lady Manar. She’s very open to questions about Egypt, it’s culture and its people.

Ibrahim is a superstar

My wife, son and I had a great experience touring downtown Cairo with Ibrahim. We feasted on typical, delicious Egyptian food and toured very interesting neighborhoods with him. Ibrahim is knowledgeable and personable and very fun to be around. He adjusts the tour to meet interests and food preferences. His love for Cairo and all things Egyptian is infectious. He’s a gifted guide. Highly recommended.

A great way to start your vacation!

The shawarma, the falafel, the koshari, the pastries, the ice cream, the coffee, the hookah! All this and the best company you could ask for. Ibrahim and his driver, Ahmed will navigate the chaotic streets of Cairo/Giza, and full your stomachs will the tastiest food and your heads with the richest knowledge of this amazing city.
