Small Group Kuranda Tour via Kuranda Scenic Rail and Skyrail

Awesome, little bit of everything, tour!

This tour was amazing! The train was very fun and scenic. Kuranda had lots of fun shops with great coffee and souvenirs. We went to the Koala sanctuary where you can see Koalas up close and feed kangaroos. The Skyrail on the way down was our favorite part! You have the option to get off twice, where you can view Barron Falls from different lookouts. This tour was a great way to see a little bit of everything and make the most out of your day. We loved that Michael booked everything for us, yet we were still able to explore Kuranda on our own itinerary. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see a lot of gorgeous sites Michael was a great tour guide and very punctual so everything went smoothly. We also appreciate the timing of the tour, as a full-day would have been tiring. Highly recommend!!

Great way to see the area

The whole day was fabulous. We had perfect weather and the train and Skyrail were the best! Michael our guide was really good and told funny “dad jokes”

Low key, DIY tour

Low key, DIY sightseeing tour. Michael organized our tickets for the railway and cable car. Kuranda is a quaint town. Railway took us up to the village with narration on the history of the railway. Cable car took us over the rainforest. Nice, but not our top 5 sights.

Beautiful city

The cable cars were amazing and my husband and I enjoyed the jungle walk after our train ride. Kuranda was beautiful and we had a nice stroll through the market there

Amazing views!

We had a great day with amazing views! We all really enjoyed both the train journey and the skyrail. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I thought the market in Kuranda would be bigger/have more stalls or food stalls - was still enjoyable just smaller than expected!

Incredible sights

Beautiful trip on an old fashioned train through stunning scenery to Kuranda village. You are able to hold a koala bear here but you must book separately first. Pretty place to explore and see native wildlife and then it's the incredible return journey to Cairns via Skyrail, soaring over the lush rainforest below.

Great time out

Really awesome trip and well worth the money. Spectacular country, great food up the top, and lots of markets and attractions

Amazing visit to Kuranda with the best tour operator in Cairns

Michael was absolutely amazing to deal with from the beginning. He was very friendly and informative. He made the entire process of visiting Kuranda enjoyable and fuss free. He has a wealth of local knowledge and offers lots of information to decide how to best spend your time in the village. I am so glad we booked the tour with him. When we revisit I will definitely rebook with Michael.

Loved Bird Sanctuary.

I loved bird sanctuary. The koala gardens and town was not spectacular. Michael our tour guide made sure that we had our tickets and knew what to do. Not enough time to go to Butterfly world. Stay away from the Kuranda Hotel for coffee. It took 25 minutes to get a coffee to go

Easy way to see Kuranda Rainforest

Easy & beautiful way to explore Kuranda with all transportation with train up and Skyrail down. Michael is a very engaging tour guide, coordinating schedules closely and easily. Saw & fed wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos at Kuranda Village. Saw an amazing Cassowary up close in the rainforest on the Skyrail down!

Happy with the experience.

It was unfortunate that we were not able to do the train trip to Kuranda due to heavy rain. It was one of the things we were most looking forward to. Michael the tour guide did his best to make the trip to the Kunanda by bus interesting and informative. At least he did not cancel the whole trip. The markets at Kuranda were okay as was lunch at the pub, nothing to rave about but an enjoyable outing. The sky rail trip back was excellent. I am extremely scared of heights so to do it was quite a real challenge but I did it no problems. The stop offs on the way down were great and gave me confidence that I could do the trip.

A day very well spent.

The train trip is amazing,especially the spectacular Barron Falls. Plenty to do in Kuranda. The chair rail back is not to be missed. The pick up and return to accommodation by Michael is an excellent service

Amazing Experience

Great experience riding the train and the Skyrail. Michael was amazing with arranging it all, from pick-up and drop off to being available and responsive.

If your in the Area of Cairns Do Not Miss It.

My wife and I had a funtastic time, Michael the Owner/Operator of Cairns Custom Tours, done a fantastic job organising the information to make train ride as enjoyable as he could, and picking us up from the Skyrail and taking us back to our pick up point. The Kuranda Scenic train ride was an experience not to be missed, loved the views and the commentry. We travelled on the Skyrail on way , my wife who is not good with heights loved it and so did I. Recommend to go and enjoy both.

Breathtaking experience

Fantastic day on the railway great way to experience the wonderful rainforest and waterfalls. Kuranda station full of lovely shops and eateries and heading back down the mountain in the skyrail really topped off a great day.

Great trip

Michael was great at communication prior to and during the trip so that everything went smoothly. Great scenery along the way up on the train to Karunda. Plenty of choice of things to do whilst there, enjoyed the river trip and even saw a baby crocodile. The cable car down was great being able to get off at various points to walk in the rainforest. Back mid afternoon.

Thumbs up from us

We took this tour in place of a ships tour because it is usually a bit cheaper and a lot more personal, with a small 10 0r 11 seater mini bus. Owner Operator Michael was very friendly and accommodating when I mentioned that one person in our group did a knee injury several days before and he offered her a wheely walker to use for the day, which became very helpful. He also gave us good information and commentary during the parts of the tour we were with him. All up a great day so thank you Michael.

Good Time

Took this tour as an alternative to a cruise ship tour, glad we did, we had a small mini bus of about 10 persons which was more enjoyable than the larger coach tours and got some personal help from the operator when one of our team suffered a knee injury prior to our arrival by supplying a wheely walker for the day. Kuranda spectacular.

Miranda tour is a spectacular experience from both the train and the sky rail. Only downside was I chose the village rather than the boat trip - a mistake!

Great trip.

The rainforest was beautiful and really enjoyed Kuranda. Barron falls were beautiful. Michael did a great job!

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Micheal efficiently arranged the train and cable car journeys for us. All the information we needed was provided and he gave us an amusing and informative commentary on the way back from the cable car. He didn't accompany us so we were each able to choose how we wanted to spend our time once we got to Kuranda. He was on time for both pick up and drop off.

Well worth doing!

Sky rail was a great experience as was the train. The views were amazing from both. If you can, train up and skyrail down. Loved looking around the market. Have a good look before purchasing because prices differ greatly. Michael from Cairns custom tours was very funny and showed us a Golden Orb spider.

Kuranda Scenic Railway & Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

Great tour loved the Kuranda Railway & Skyrail beautiful scenery. Amazing little part of Australia. Michael our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend using him for any future tours.

Powerful nature

The waterfalls were beautiful. The gondolas gave great views from above the rainforest. Seeing a bandicoot

So glad we did this tour

The trip up the mountain on the old train was fun and very scenic, but don't go when it's hot because there's no air conditioning. The train stops at different scenic lookouts and narrates the history of the construction of the railway. The town of Kuranda has a lot to offer - we went to the butterfly sanctuary which was magical. The trip back on the skyrail is so beautiful and peaceful. It was my favorite part. The panoramas are absolutely gorgeous! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a very dry sense of humor. :) He made sure we got to the train and then picked us up at the end of the skyrail route.

Good day out

Would definitely recommend . Train ride was different and views amazing. Skyrail was just as good. Michael picked us up from our hotel at the stated time and was very knowledgeable whilst travelling to and on the return journey. Our only criticism is we didn't have long enough time in Kurunda. Would have liked to go into a couple of the attractions but there isn't enough time.

Magnificent scenery, photograph with koala, but don't be late getting back to the skyrail station.

We started by the train ride. A very interesting commentary was provided as we travelled explaining the history of the train and the building of the railroad. The scenery was magnificent and we had stops along the way to better admire the view. Kuranda was vey pretty and I had my photograph taken with a koala bear. The skyrail ride was spectacular with two stops that allowed us to take photograph. At the second stop on top of the mountain I joined a tour given by a warder. This was very informative. However, it made me late at the end and the tour bus left without me. I had to take a taxi back to my hotel..

Rushed trip, less fun , more stress.

The entire trip was rushed as we were given strict timelines and very less time to enjoy activities in Kuranda or shop in the local shops there. We just had an hour between the arrival and departure in Kuranda , so we could only visit butterfly garden and grab a quick take away lunch and run back to our bus.

A must do for all ages

Train up, skyrail back. Very interesting journey, the history, the scenery both ways is magnificent. Couple of stops on the way for more photo opportunities. Highly recommended. The pick up drop off hotel service is a bonus.

Nice day out

Great day trip from Cairns! We caught the train up to the village and the sky rail back. We did purchased gold class train seats only because there were no regular ones left, it was nice and comfy. However I’m unsure if the extra cost was worth it. We got drinks and a small cheese platter. The couple of hours in the village was nice but we didn’t find it that interesting, just lots of cheap bali like markets. Skyrail down was beautiful. I would recommend this trip to any tourist

Awesome quick adventure.

Michael is very kind and did a great job at organizing the excursion. He was prompt for scheduled pickup and had everything readily available as far as tickets were concerned. Gave us a thorough run through on how to navigate the excursion from beginning to end. I loved the ease of not having to research the train and sky rail booking myself and having it all done for me. Well worth the price. Due to a delay on the train at one of the stops, we had very limited time in Kuranda. We did still make it to our 12:30 reservation for the koala encounter which we booked separately in advance.

Great tour

Excellent day trip. Michael was so organised. The communication was excellent from when we booked the tour until the tour ended. Views were amazing on the train and the Skyrail.

Best day out

The sky rail and the butterfly house. We needed more time to be able to enjoy the village. The village and markets looked very interesting and warranted exploring time.

Kuranda train and sky rail day out.

This was a fabulous day starting with a hotel pickup by Michael who gave us a leaflet detailing the route and some historical facts about the train that would be taking us to Karanda as well as a leaflet and map of shops, cafes and things to see in Karanda. After spending time in Karanda we got on the sky rail to take us to the bottom of the mountain. This was awesome with three points along the way where we were able to get off and take in the scenery. After the sky rail got to the bottom Michael was there waiting to take us back to our individual hotels. Excellent day out and so well organised. Communication by Michael was second to none from before the trip to the end. Thank you Michael. Well done.

Kuranda Train Journey and Skyrail Sensation

The views from the train going up to Kuranda were amazing. Kuranda itself was interesting. But the Skyrail itself was sensational. Getting off along the way also and seeing the waterfalls and forests was very special.

Great tour!

Fantastic trip! Michael was wonderful, picked us up on time and explained everything. He had all our tickets ready so we avoided all the queues. He also kept in touch during the day with messages regarding times and meet up places. The scenery was spectacular and the Kuranda Railway was amazing. The commentary was enlightening and certainly made you realise what an amazing feat this railway was in its day. The Skyrail was equally impressive. Highly recommended!

Was ok

It was quite boring and the skyrail was the most exciting. If we did it again we would do tje gold class.

Kuranda Train and skyrail

Really enjoyed the day. Great to have both train and Skyrail organised for us. Pick up and drop off at hotel was great. Only hitch from our perspective was the map seemed a bit confusing re the sky rail terminus and train line.

Great attraction, well organised, simple without all the landrights issues and notifications of so many other tours

Fantastic time!

Michael was excellent! This was the perfect amount of solo time + tour time. The sky rail was incredible and the train was super fun. Kuranda was fine- 2 hours is plenty of time to explore. Thank you!

A nice trip for a day

The trip was very well arranged. Skyrail with two interesting stops underway was clever. The Kuranda village itself was very much for tourists (which we were, of course), and very much different from what we remembered 35 years ago (our first visit). The market area was good, though, with several interesting stalls. We went to the Rainforestation Nature Park where we tried the fun Army Duck Amphibious vehicle. Too bad we did not see any animals at all, but back at the station there were both kangaroo, crocodiles, koala and other animals.

Exciting times and great memories. We had a good day and meet some amazing people. That’s a great idea.
