Amado was our tour guide and was upbeat, fun, and very helpful and informative. He was able to tell us about the local culture, history, and vegetation. He also was kind and patient with us.

Monkeyland One of a kind time with Monkeys

Monkeyland with Our personal guide Misael from the port and our guide at Monkeyland Mario Silva was amazing. It was a Premium one on one intimate encounter with all the squirrel monkeys learning about them and feeding them and taking pics … definitely one of the best I’ve been apart of I would recommend 10/10 and I wanna go back again! Very cool lifetime experience and memories to cherish forever my wife loved just as much as I did ♾️.!

This was fun for the whole family of all ages! The trip to Monkeyland was unforgettable. The experience was nothing short of amazing, and it truly exceeded all my expectations. The moment we were picked up from our port was perfectly organized and seamless. The highlight, of course, was the chance to interact with the squirrel monkeys. Learning about the local coffee and cocoa was both educational and enjoyable. Orelvi (Oral-B) was very knowledgeable and made the experience even more enriching with their insights and stories. Manuel was a good driver and got us to our destination safely. Thank you for providing such a unique and memorable adventure. I will highly recommend this tour!

Better than expected!

Monkeyland was better than expected. Of course, the monkeys were number 1. They are so cute and the habitat is surprisingly clean. The trainer/handler spent a lot of time with us (Sept 9, 2024) allowing the monkeys to get their treats from our hands, sit on our heads and jump around. What was also noteworthy was our guide, Jose Rojas. He was knowledgeable about the community and their resources. We also received education on coffee and chocolate production. There were cultural facts sprinkled in with presentation. I really enjoyed the excursion.

Monkeys everywhere!

Amazing! The handlers made sure we got a great experience! Monkeys on our heads, in our hands, digging through pockets for food! So much fun! Definitely would do it again!

Amazing crew. Great fun. The staff is tremendous and the monkeys are so friendly and gentle. The plantation tour side also great, trying amazing coffee and chocolate.

Highly recommend Monkeyland

We had a great time. We highly recommend a visit to Monkeyland. The monkeys are very interactive and the staff was great. They also took really nice pictures. You pay one flat rate to get all the pictures they took of you and your family so you don't have to decide which ones you like best. They email them to you which is very nice.

This place is super fun! The monkeys are adorable and the guide made sure to come around to everyone multiple times so you were sure to get some good pictures, plus they take pictures for you and are pretty reasonable in price. The “traditional house” and demos were a nice treat as well!

Awesome excursion

Had an awesome time at Monkeyland, sampling Dominican flavors, and shopoing in Puerto Plata. Our guide Delmis and driver Freddy really went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. My wife had injured her knee before we got to Dominican Republic and we were not sure she would be able to complete the excursion. Delmis called ahead and made sure we had a wheelchair waiting. Delmis and Freddy made sure we never got left out or left behind during the experience.

Monkey's welfare was sadly not important

I did not realise at the time this trip seems to be run by Runners Adventures and I cannot find any way of contacting Monkeyland. I have tried to reach out to Runners Adventures but they have not responded when I said I wanted to recount the bad experience. My daughter and I visited Monkeyland last month. It would have been good (although far too many people in our group) but depite a very stringent pre-briefing about how to interact with the monkeys, a little girl (aged about 5) repeatedly kicked at the moneys every time they went near her. People who saw were horrified. I told the keepers (in fact I shouted) at least 4 times as everytime the moneys got close to her as the food was taken round she kicked at them. The keepers sadly did not remove the girl and her parents and young brother (who screamed for the entire time) until literally 2 mins before the end. They weakly asked her to stop several times but did absolutely nothing. The keepers were just interested in the photo opportunity. After the encounter this is all anyone was talking about. My daughter and I were so upset and on edge the whole time it ruined our experience. Sadly could not recommend as those keepers were simply not putting the monkey's welfare first.

An Amazing Family Experience!!

This was a great trip! The staff were amazing & friendly, and the monkeys were super cute! There are two parts of the trip: interacting with the monkeys AND a tour that details Dominican culture. 10/10 experience, and the best part is that it supports the community!

Runners Adventures of Puerto Plata city tour and Monkeyland experience.

Floricey, our tour guide was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about the city, its culture, rich history, the food, the people and also the Monkeyland experience. I would definitely recommend using this service as both Floricey and our driver Demetrio were amazing!

My son and I went on this “Monkeyland and Dominican Flavors” adventure today booked through Carnival. We’ve never been to the DR before and weren’t sure what to expect but we had a great day! Our tour guide, Floricel and driver, Fabio were so engaging, funny, and knowledgeable about the land and its culture. Everyone at Monkeyland was so helpful and nice. The monkeys were adorable, coffee and cacao were fresh and delish. Awesome adventure today, our guides really made the day great, would highly recommend!

A definite tourist stop in the D.R.

My kids and I went to Monkeyland as part of our Cruise Ship excursion and it was the BEST excursion we've been on and probably the best we'll ever be on! I don't think I've seen my 19yr old son and 8yr old daughter laugh as much together as they did that day The staff were funny, knowledgeable and allowed all the kiddos in the tour to have loads of time with the monkeys. The adults loved the monkeys, the coffee, the chocolate and the mamajuana :)

So much fun!!!

The absolute best tour we've ever done! The guide was excellent. The monkeys are clearly well cared for and loved and the chocolate and mamajuana was so delicious! I don't drink much but I loved the mamajuana so much we bought a bottle for home. Bernie was awesome at Monkeyland and it was all around a fantastic experience and a perfect way to learn about the local cultures. I would suggest this to anyone!

Carlos our tour guide and fredy our driver made our trip to monkeyland a wonderful experience. This is our 2nd trip to monkeyland with Carlos as our tour guide and we will hopefully have him for several years in the future each time we travel to the dominican Republic.

Monkeyland and Dominican Flavors

We visited Monkeyland on our cruise and so glad we did. Our tour guide Orelvi was very personable and fun. He told us many facts about his country on the way and kept the ride interesting. We tried local coffee, cocoa, Mama Juana and cigars. It was the perfect blend of culture and fun!

Monkeyland and city tour The tour was informative, the tour bus was comfortable, the tour guide was charismatic. Monkeyland was my favorite excursion of all time! The monkeys were adorable. I wish I could have spent the a longer time with them. The only drawback was the bottle of vanilla I purchased at the little historic home & coffee tasting at the end of the tour. When I got home an opened the bottle I was disgusted. It smelled like motor oil that had a few drops of vanilla essence added. So incredibly gross! What a waste.

Hanging out with monkeys...recommend...super fun!!

Our family of 4 - mom, dad, 12-year-old, and 15-year-old - loved the monkeys!! It was the best excursion we took on our cruise. Delmis and Diego were awesome guides...knowledgeable and friendly!

Had a great high energy experience going to monkeyland and cigar factory booked through Royal Carribean excursions and run by Runners Adventures. The guide, Orelvi was fantastic. Driver, Juan Eusebio kept us safe and the air conditioning on the clean motor coach was refreshing along with the cold bottled water bottles. The staff at monkeyland were great and no shortage of photo opportunities and pics. Loved it. Great for adults, teens and kids. Get to try and hear process of coffee making, chocolate and try an alcoholic beverage for adults.

We loved our tour to monkeyland and the city tour! We would definitely recommend this to others. Delmis and Diego were awesome. We loved them as much as we did the tour.

Monkeys and Dominican Culture

We had the best excursion! We loved the monkeys! Our tour guide Matttias and our driver Alex were amazing! Alex even helped push me in my wheelchair. They were very knowledgeable and proud of their country. After playing with the monkeys we got to see how coffee and momaguna was made and tasted it. We would absolutely do this excursion again!

Unauthentic

Absolutely terrible, most unauthentic experience ever. There was no real interaction with the monkeys and it felt like it was all for a photo opportunity, of which you had to pay for at the end. We were led into a habitat with a ton of people and little to no space, sat on benches to have a singular seed placed on our head for the monkeys to eat and “interact with us.” Plus minus 10 second interaction. They came around again with some fruits, but only kept the monkeys with you long enough for a few photos. Since we were a huge group, people travelling in 2s had almost no time with the monkeys compared to the families and groups of 4+. It was really disappointing and all lasted a whopping 35 minutes. The worst part was how they tried to stretch out the “half day aka 4 hour excursion” with coffee, and a stop at a factory. It really wasn’t worth the money. If you want to see monkeys like we did- don’t support this, the monkeys had no real “habitat.” Rather spend your money somewhere worthwhile on an experience that can last a lifetime.

Interacting with the squirrel monkeys was amazing, and our guide was the best!

Nilo was an amazing guide! Very funny and engaging. Also very knowledgeable about the Dominican Republic. I highly recommend this tour and Nilo specifically. Demitrio was our driver and was excellent. Interacting with the monkeys was so much fun!

Excellent experience!

Visiting Monkeyland was a unique experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had the added benefit of experiencing Dominican culture through an interactive presentation and visiting an open-air market with products created by local artisans. The whole day was delightful and I highly recommend it to other travelers.

Fun with the Monkeys.

We actually had a combo excursion from Royal Caribbean cruise lines. We did the Puerto Plata City Tour and Monkeyland. It was a fun experience. My 8 year old granddaughter had a blast with the squirrel monkeys. I highly recommend this trip.

Monkey Time with Sweets and Stones

This was on my bucket list and I can mark it off. The monkeys always bring smiles and laughs to all. They are such adorable creatures. For photos, you have better interactions by standing and not sitting. The coffee, chocolate and whiskey tastings were great. Bernie and Flor were fantastic and the stop at the museum was a treat. Handmade items were great!

Very good experience

The tour guide was great !! He also spoke many languages which was fun to listen to, he was also very knowledgeable - named Floricel, I believe (nickname flower). The bus that picked us from our hotel was very clean and air conditioned…When we got to Monkeyland, the experience was overall great, once we went inside the cage, we had monkeys on our head, arms, and shoulders with their soft little hands running around... would have been nice to be able to walk around in the monkey enclosure for a bit. It was more of a "sit down and we bring the monkeys to you " type of experience. There was also a tasting of mama Juana, hot chocolate, and coffee which was really good. Definitely would recommend it !

So much fun!

This was a great experience. Enjoyed it very much. The monkeys crawl all over you and many great photo opportunities. Nice to visit the gift shop as well.

We took this trip as a family of 5. The tour guides were great. The monkeys were super fun and we got lots of great pictures!

Amazing morning

We visited monkeyland and what a fab day we had even though the heavens opened up and we could only go in the walk way which was a bit disappointing but u cant predict the weather. Wasnt sure what to expect but was great. Theres loads off monkeys and they just climb all over you. Theres a shop to buy soveigners and snacks. Staff are all lovely and very well knowledged in what they do. You can buy photos and there's no pressure on how many. We only purchased 1 as we got loads on our camera. U get to learn how coffee and chocolate is made and even get a taste of the fresh coffee and chocolate. Great morning had by us would recommend

Miscommunication of Company

We were told that due to numbers we would have to be rescheduled for a different day. We rescheduled, and on the day of pick up, we waited for an hour at the agreed upon pick up location. After multiple conversations, we were told that the previous employee that had contacted us to reschedule, had some sort of confusion within the company to get that fully rescheduled. Therefore, no pick up, no tour, and a not so happy customer for their last day at the DR.

Amazing!!!

Had a private tour. Our tour guide Berny was very knowledgeable and kind. Worked very well with the monkeys. We enjoyed every moment of it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
