A good day out in Margaret River

Marty was a great tour guide. Good sense of humour and excellent knowledge. Bush food lunch well explained by Marty, and amazingly tasty. Enjoyed the vineyards and tastings. Could have left the chocolate shop visit out - no tastings, just a retail shop. Last brewery stop could have been longer as there were some great beers. A good day out.

Friendly tour guide, rushed day

Tour guide was lovely and very friendly. The bush tucker lunch was definitely an amazing experience and absolutely enjoyed it. Apart from that we felt like the day was rushed a bit and some places we wasted time waiting around while others were too rushed. The first place we went to for tastings was the best and if the other places would have been the same then this would probably be a 4-5 star review. The first place the lady explained to us about the wine, how to properly taste wine and the difference. In each tasting she gave us about 3 mouth fulls of wine which is a good serving for a tasting. Day was off to a good start. Then it went downhill. The other places we went to were rushed. Felt like they were trying to quickly finish the wine tasting to get onto the next one. We were lucky to get 1 mouthful per tasting and the people didn’t explain very well and were not very friendly. I reckon out of the whole day which was 6-7 hours long I would have had a total of 3 glasses of wine, not even enough to put me over the driving limit. I got home a drove to dinner. One place after our tasting we waited there for 40 minutes before going to our next place which forced everyone to need to buy something to eat and drink otherwise we would just be sitting there doing nothing for 40 minutes. The most disappointing part was that there was not cheese factory. That’s the main reason I booked this one over some others. I found out afterwards that the cheese factory is temporarily closed. They should not be advertising this in their ad if we are not stopping by the cheese factory. Overall, the tour guide was really good but would not recommend this specific one to friends.

Adults Fun tasting day out !!

The whole day was an absolute blast from start to finish. From the pickup time and during the whole day the whole experience was awesome. Our tour guide was funtastic and well worth going to. A lot of tastings and a different lunch was had. The day is well worth it if one wants a great day of wine tasting and laughs without having to drive.

Great way to explore the south west

Lovely tour with lots of amazing stops and lunch was delicious. Not normally a wine drinker but did it for the experience and totally worth it

Wine tasting in Margaret River

Picked up on time, from our guest house. Very interesting day, including lots of samples of wine, liquors, chocolate and food. Steve, the driver and guide, was very informative about the wines and area. The meal was all original local foods. A very enjoyable experience.

Amazing tour in a beautiful region - and great value!

Overall an amazing day! From the quick email confirmation for my dietary and disability requirements, to the SMS confirmation of pick-up time the day before, and the pick-up from my accommodation in Busselton, it was a brilliant day. I was solo, but there were 12 others on the tour. Steve the tour guide was friendly and informative, and very approachable throughout the day. The lunch spread he put out was excellent, with a wide range of native ingredients, all labelled and context given as needed. Vegetarian was well catered for, as was the range of meats. Visited three wineries, two of which were great. The other (Knotting Hill) seemed annoyed that I was on the tour alone, preferring the people in pairs, and definitely focused on only making sales. Cape Naturaliste wines and Woody Nook wines were both lovely, great surrounds and staff. Grove distilling, Cheeky Monkey brewery and Margaret River chocolates were all excellent too. The only downside was that the bus we were on was pretty old and noisy and sounded on the verge of breakdown at times! That said, I felt completely safe and was delivered back to my accommodation on time. Cannot recommend this tour company enough - I got to see the region, taste lots (and lots!) of different drinks, learn a lot about the history and landscape, eat some amazing native ingredients, and best of all, not risk driving myself.

Best tour in Margaret River with a knowledgable guide!

I went on two winery tours while I was in Margaret River and this one was by far the best! I admit, I was a little hesitant because of the name of the tour but it turned out,it was a tour with people that were interested in getting to know the wine, not just in getting drunk. Our guide Greg was so knowledgeable, warm friendly and totally accommodating to each individual guest. He provided fascinating stories about the region and the history. The lunch was also very interesting. It included indigenous foods and the stories behind them. Pick-up and delivery was right on time and it seemed that this company had a good relationship with all the wineries we visited.

Best Winery tour in Margaret River

This was about the 3 time I had been on a Bushtucker Wine tour….The first 2 pre Covid and this one post Covid while most things have changed in a post Covid world this tour certainly hasn’t…. What a fantastic day, new Wineries that I hadn’t been to before plus a stop at a Brewery …a really different lunch which was enjoyed by all….knowledgeable hosts…a truly great experience….one not to be missed….and the added bonus you can have a drink as you are collected and delivered back to your accommodation!

Wine, Wine and more Wine.

Firstly if you’re not a drinker forget going on this tour, it’s not for you. Greg our driver & host picked us up in the air coned Mininbus dead on time from our accommodation, Margaret River being fairly small meant we had several more pick ups all quite local, he explained along the way to the first of 6 stops how the day was planned, Winery’s, a distillery, Chocolate factory and finally a brewery. Each stop provided a unique experience, Lunch at Knotting Hill winery was a Bushtucker affair, prepared and presented by Greg, with locally sourced Kangaroo, Smoked Crocodile & Emu meat, Yummy, with homemade chutneys and salad. We were never rushed, each winery was very relaxed no pressure to buy the wine. The day went extremely quickly and was very enjoyable. A defo if you want to visits a number of different places without the worry of driving or finding them

Great tour with fabulous food

We did the wine tour with a friend and it was great. We visited 4 wineries, the chocolate factory and a brewery. At the first winery we spent time getting to know the group and Greg spent time telling us the best way to taste the wine to help with the rest of the day. There was a great selection of wines at every winery and all the hosts were really great at telling us about their wines. The highlight for me was the food. We were not expecting such a spread, but it was so good to try all the different things Australia had to offer.

HIghly recommended tour

We had a lovely day which was booked with friends visiting from the UK. Our friend was celebrating a special birthday and he was presented with a bottle of wine to celebrate. We were returning clients and also received bottle of wine. These were much appreciated and a nice touch. We visited several wineries as well as the chocolate factory and a brewery. Our guide was Greg he was very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Greg served lunch at one of the locations and explained what each dish was, this was a great opportunity for our guests to try local dishes. The day wasn't rushed at all we had sufficient time at each stop and Greg went out of his way to drive us to see kangaroos at the end of the tour. Greg is a great ambassador for Bushtuckers. No doubt we will be returning, hopefully with more visitors.

Great day out

Good selection of wineries and other attractions. The tour title was misleading, we didn’t, have a gourmet winery lunch but a picnic prepared by our wonderful tour guide John.

Brilliant day out. John our guide was lovely. The drinks and food was terrific. Great way to have a taste of the region.

Wine and tucker

It was a bit of luck that we chose this tour amongst the many available.... but luck was on our side. This was relaxed, informative and lots of fun. The range of places to visit was the bonus.... each was a little quirky and all were interesting. The group were such fun and the guides really helpful. I would recommend this "Bushtucker" tour to anyone!

Great day out!

What a great day! Huge thanks to Maureen, John and Carol, you made our wedding anniversary very special. Only comment is that the tasting at Notting Hill was a little rushed but loved the bushtucker lunch!

Brilliant, Delicious and most interesting

Everything...the driver, the unique Australia food on offer, the wine experiences..eucational in the main and not the usual excuse to get drunk for many, the bus, and the scenery / commentary by our driver.

Bushtucker Tours is the reliable tour company that provides a genuine Australian experience

This is my second time with Bushtucker Tours and I can’t fault them. Maureen who took our booking was efficient and helpful and even ended up picking us up from our accommodation on time. John who was our tour guide was a character and so full of knowledge of Bushtucker food, local history and events and of course had connection with the families that ran the wineries. He even sang us a great folk song and we all joined in on the bus. What a guy! The wineries chosen weren’t the big ones which is good as you got personal attention and got to taste a lot of white, red wines and liqueurs. I would highly recommend tour which thanks to Helen the owner has given me and my friends great memories.

Great Margaret River tour!!

Fantastic day with a small group of people. We visited a number of wineries and a brewery and had generous tastings at all. A yummy bushtucker lunch was enjoyed by all of us! Would thoroughly recommend to visitors to Margaret River!

Best value, best tour!

Absolutely awesome tour! Peter was the best guide. Knowledgeable, easy going and the best driver (I suffer from anxiety being in a vehicle). A great variety of places visited, the best being an introduction to bush tucker. Had a fabulous day. Would 100% recommend!

Fantastic guides. Friendly staff everywhere we went. Wonderful lunch experience. Sampling all different wines, beer, liquor that you normally wouldn't try.

Bushtucker tours were...

Bushtucker tours were amazing. Well planned with a knowledgeable and experienced tour guide. The day was filled with variety and offered something for everyone. Not great for families with children. You really need to be over 18 for this one!

An awesome experience from a solo traveler’s perspective

A fantastic experience from start to finish! Pickup was conveniently outside my AirBnB. I also got lucky and ended up with a smaller group of about 11 people so it was easier to mingle around with others in the group. Going on a Sunday seems to be the best way to achieve this. Our guide was informative and charismatic, as were the various hosts at the wineries and breweries we visited. There were a total of five stops on the tour, including two wineries, one liquor distillery and a chocolate factory. Lunch was also awesome! We got to try five different kinda of meats, including emu, kangaroo and crocodile! Be sure not to drink too much or you could feel quite tipsy by the end of the day XD. Still, could not recommend this tour enough, especially to first time visitors of the Margaret River region or those staying in the Busselton/ Dunsborough region.

Do a Bushtucker tour as you won't regret it.

This was our third Bushtucker tour and it won't be our last. We went to three different boutique wineries (none the same as previous tours). They were all wonderful. We went to a distillery, a brewery and chocolate factory. Highlight of the tour is always the bushtucker lunch. You can try crocodile, emu and kangaroo along with chicken and beef with over 30 condiments to complement the protein. Our tour guide/driver had great knowledge of the region and even went out of his way to find a kangaroo for our international visitor on board who wanted a photo. It is a fun day and thoroughly recommend.

Great Tour Great Guide

The whole experience was great. Easy to book , pick up and drop off at our hotel. We would recommend this tour to anyone. We especially enjoyed the Australian themed bushtucker lunch.

If taking a Margaret River wine tour l would definitely recommend this one, an informative and fun trip with a small group visiting wineries and breweries in stunning locations. Greg our guide for the day was knowledgeable and friendly and every got to know each other very quickly which was great for me as a solo traveller

Fun and varied

Flexible, helpful people who communicate promptly and thoroughly. Our tour driver/host Dan was fabulous, the venues were great, the food was amazing, the wines were beautiful. There is a lovely, generous feeling about this company, from the owner, Helen, through to everyone else. We weren't rushed out of anywhere, information was freely given, the venues I requested were included, and I was given a bottle of wine as a repeat offender bringing overseas visitors along. Our visitors were blown away! Thank you to everyone at Bushtucker Tours.

Amazing introduction tour to the Margaret River wines

We highly recommend this tour as an introduction to the Margaret River wines. John our driver & tour host for the day picked us up promptly along with 3 other friendly groups from different stops along the way. We stopped at 3 wineries & introduced to a selection of white, rose & red wines with lunch being served after the 2nd stop which was needed after all the wine tasting. Having the option to purchase wines along the way, John stored them on the coach & distributed back at the end of the day. The bushtucker lunch was explained and buffet style we were offered a selection of kangaroo, emu, crocodile, beef & chicken with salad, bread & relishes/sauces. All well worth tasting to experience the delicious food. We continued then with a liqueur tasting, stop at a chocolate shop & final stop was cheeky monkey brewery. A well organised day visit for our first wine tasting. Thank you for my fridge magnet John.

Great value for money

The tour guides knew a lot about the region and about the wines. Tour was on time and well organised. The lunch provided was good but a cold meat lunch. Lots of tastings included.

Sensational day exploring Margaret River

Sensational day visiting three boutique wineries, a chocolate factory, an artisan liquor specialist and a brewhouse. At the second winery, an enjoyable gourmet lunch was served. This is not a lunch provided by the winery, it is created by Bushtucker Tours, home made essentially, and included emu, kangaroo and crocodile. Beef and chicken were also served along with breads, cheese, chutneys, pestos and selected wild berries. Our hosts were wonderful. Once at the first winery, traveling distances to the remaining venues very short, allowing for plenty of extra time to enjoy each location. Highly recommend this company.

A great day with the freedom to enjoy the wines of the region.

Fantastic company and an action-packed day. Very well organised and a wide range of venues visited. A very relaxing environment without any pressure. Would thoroughly recommend and would go again.

I would recommend not...

I would recommend not doing a liquor mid way through the tour I would have to say that would have been better to finish off with, as you go from super sweet back to dry wines and then beer. Weird combo. The bush Tucker food was delicious and great way for people to experience a little Aussie culture

What an amazing tour and tour guide. There were 7 adults and a 5 year old. Dan our guide, played with my daughter, showed her the dogs at the vine yards, fed some fish. She helped put out the lunch. She had the best time. So did we. We tasted some amazing wines and liqueurs. The lunch was beautiful. Thank you Bushtucker for a fantastic day out.

Great vineyards

Going to all the different wineries, tastings all the different wines and listening to the descriptions of how the wines are produced and the history behind it all. On the web site, lunch is described as a gourmet lunch, but it is a bushtucker lunch.,all that we tasted we enjoyed, but we think there could have been bit more meat, we went for seconds, all gone ...Gourmet Lunch??? Definately not.. . Picnic /light Lunch from plastic boxes.

A day of light fun without getting too tipsy- taste it all and eat it too.

Worth the day out especially on a wet one- lots of history about the Margaret River families and fun sipping and tasting all sorts of alcoholic drinks with appropriate foods / cheeses/ chocolates , fudges, and lunch. Thank you Helen and John . The tastes of the Bush Tucker foods a delicacy and definitely a delight for me.

Not what we expected

We were excited to tour the Margaret River region however the tour was not what we expected. While friendly we found the tour guide to have a sarcastic humour which didn’t sit right with our group. The first winery we visited was nice however we did have to wait a while to get the tasting started. Next we went to the winery where we were expecting our “gourmet winery lunch” 😂. Definitely not what the website promised and we felt misled. It basically consisted of cold meats, bread and a selection of condiments. No hot food and not actually provided by the winery but the tour provider who wheeled in eskies with our lunch in it. Another gripe was that the tour says it caters for kids (we had four children) however I don’t know any kids who would eat the food provided and they ended up having to eat dry bread and some lumps of cheese. We also thought a drink would be included with lunch but we had to buy our own. Obviously we fell victim to the craftily written description of what was included. Onto the chocolate factory where we were rushed in and told we only had 10 minutes. Tour guide didn’t even come in and besides the little choc bits that any customers can get there were no tastings included. The rest of the day was fine with nice tastings at a winery, distillery, dairy company and brewery. At the last stop (brewery) the kids were reluctantly offered a soft drink- the only drink they had been offered all day. Having been on a few winery tours before I wouldn’t recommend this tour and I would say before you book make sure you are really aware of what is included.

Lovely day out

We had an awesome day out visiting a number of the wineries in the region along with a distillery and brewery. While the weather couldn’t have been much worse it didn’t matter as the experience more than made up for it. The food at the second winery and the opportunity to taste some different foods is a great touch and definitely separates this from the other tours in the region. Couldn’t recommend this tour enough particularly with Dan who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made the day very enjoyable. He was awesome with all the guests and made everyone feel really comfortable and have a great time. Will definitely be recommending to anyone we know who is coming to this region in the future!
