We learned so much about Hungarian Cooking.

This was a wonderful and informative class. Our chef Bridget was very knowledgeable and was very easy to understand. All of us enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it to other travelers.

Bernadette was incredible! My husband and 2 adult children greatly enjoyed this class. The instructor was easy to follow and I learned so much! We will definitely make this dish at home. Please consider taking this class and learning about the culture.

Wonderful Hungarian Foodie Experience

We had a wonderful morning with Vesna. We prepared three very authentic (and delicious) Hungarian dishes. She was incredibly well prepared - everything was ready to go so just some chopping and stirring but a lot of attention and guidance given to the timing to ensure none of the ingredients were spoiled in any way and we got the best out of the spices etc, but lots of information provided about the ingredients and essentially a lovely sharing of information about how locals source, prepare and cook their food, which was very interesting. Facilities were excellent. No pressure to rush our lunch, lots of drinks offered throughout. Vesna is lovely, warm and engaging and passionate about her craft - highly recommended, it was a great experience for me and my teens.

Definitely one to book!

Brigitte our chef was so lovely and helpful! I didn’t realise it was more of a group thing but we got our own copies of the recipes to take home and we all sat down together to share the meals everyone prepared. It was a really casual cooking class which felt more relaxed and fun.

Actually got some hands on cooking which was fun. Food was delicious and plentiful. Recipes provided. Really nice Chef teacher.

Fantastic Cooking Class Experience

The tour of the Central Market in Budapest was fantastic. Learned so much and saw everything imaginable to eat or drink! Sylvia was a great guide and an even more amazing I structured for our cooking class. We loved the small class size and the hands on cooking. All the food we prepared was delicious and served with beer/wine. We laughed, learned and enjoyed the entire cooking class experience.

Not what I hoped for

I booked the Cooking Class with optional Market Tour. The market tour was rushed with no time to purchase anything. The guide spent a considerable amount of time telling us what was not good to purchase in the market. After the group got into two taxis we rode 20 minutes to the location of the class. Upon arrival the guide told us only two in the group purchased the deluxe tour that included transportation back to the start point, a cook book and apron. Those who purchased on Viator had the basic tour, no transportation back to the center of the city. The description of this tour says the end point is the start point. I was concerned during the entire class how I would get back. This was resolved by the end of the class by having us all take one taxi back. Two members of our group sat in pop up seats in the baggage area of the taxi. The class was rushed and we each prepared a portion of the recipe and cooked everything for the whole class in two large pots. The vendor supplied the wrong cut of chicken (boneless, skinless) which was not what the recipe called for. The guide said we could prepare the dish as the recipe shows anytime but we would change the dish promising it would be much better with the changes. At the end we scarfed down our meal in a rush to vacate the room for the next class. In the lobby we were served our after dinner digest of Unicum. The wait for the cab was over 20 minutes to get back.

Great way to experience the local cuisine.

We started the class with a Market overview tour. Very insightful. We then proceeded to the cooking class. Totally cool. The class was very hands on and a lot of fun. Best of all we ate the three course lunch we made and it was incredible. If you want a unique experience in Budapest I highly recommend this.

fun and interesting cooking class

We were visiting Budapest and fell in love with Goulash soup so we wanted to take a cooking lesson at Chef Parade. We arrived early and met Bernadet who was very patient and taught us all the tips to prepare: goulash, porkolt and apple strudel. We had a great time and we ate everything we made. we had a lot of fun and purchased there the cooking book, sweet paprika and some condiments needed to cook goulash and porkolt when we’re back home.

Fun way to learn and experience Hungarian cuisine.

Our cooking teacher was extremely polite and caring. we started by taking a tour of Central Market and headed to the cooking studio. The experience was well worthed and I highly recommend it.

Amazing food, fun and informative class.

Amazing day. Vesna was full of knowledge. We had a lovely tour of the market. Just under an hour was the perfect amount of time to get an overview and learn which products are of the best quality. The Cooking School was well equipped. The class was fun and informative. There were a few food surprises as well. Highly recommend.

Authentic & Delicious Hungarian Experience!

One of the best cooking classes my husband and I have ever participated in! Vesna's love of cooking and passion for authenticity was evident through out the whole process. We started off with a market tour which was fun and informative. We participated in the class with a family of 3 and all had a chance to sample taste while cooking and experience different cooking techniques. I loved and appreciated Vesna's tips and tricks throughout the process such as how not to burn the paprika! The cooking space was spacious and well stocked. Truly a great experience!

Cook like a Hungarian

Bernadette was excellent. The hands on and comprehensive approach was ideal. Not only did we follow a recipe, but rather, the reasons and alternatives were explained. Highly recommend.

We cooked 3 delicious meals. Our instructor Adrienne was very kind and showed us different styles of Hungarian kitchen.

Amazing culinary experience in Budapest

Our market tour and Hungarian cuisine cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip.Vesna was a informed, experienced, warm and easy going guide for the day. We had a small class, just us and another couple and we worked together to create a gorgeous lunch. The cooking studio was initimate and inviting yet completely professional/commercial. There was a well stocked fridge of soft drinks, water, wine etc to enjoy while cooking and at lunch. Coffee was available too. I love to cook so this was such a highlight. It is quite pricey but well worth it as it is almost a full day event!

Delicious food experience

My wife and I had a fantastic time. Host George provided a fun learning experience and delicious results. The Market Hall shopping was a great place to get paprika and wines. I intend to use his recipe to make the chicken Paprikash at home. We highly recommend this class!

Great Hungarian cooking class

Probably the best cooking class we’ve ever done. Food was delicious. Chef was engaging, helpful, and friendly. We got to do the ‘hands on’ work. Very highly recommended.

Brigitte was fantastic. We had so much fun. It was among the best meals I have ever had and I made it myself. Do yourself a favor and take this cooking class.

Better than restaurant food.

This was a wonderful class. The food we made (goulash, chicken paprikash, and apple strudel) were far better than anything we ate in the restaurants, including some very highly rated ones. Vesna was a great teacher and was very patient and informative. Highly recommended.

Entertaining, educational and delicious

Attended the market tour and cooking class this week and had a wonderful experience. Our teacher, Bridgett, was knowledgeable, entertaining and kept all the cooking teams moving along smoothly. We also enjoyed chatting with the group during our delicious meal. One of the highlights of our week in Budapest.

Worthwhile

The whole experience from first meeting Vesna, our teacher and passionate chef to the fun in cooking together and then eating good wholesome food was memorable. Well worth the time to discover the Hungarian way with paprika. Will certainly cook some of the dishes we learnt at this course - Thank you

Cooking with a family experience

Lucky enough to have had the chef to ourselves. She was wonderful. She taught my daughter and I the way you would want a mother or grandmother to do it. Best cooking class ever!

Tastes like childhood!

I really enjoyed my time! As I grew up with Hungarian grandparents, the food we made tasted like my childhood! The tour before gave me a good insight into the main foods of Hungary. It was nice that my accommodation was very close to the market where we met - I’m not sure if it’s worth it to get up an hour earlier and take a taxi if you’re farther away.

Vesna was a great...

Vesna was a great host/chef and taught us how to make 3 traditional hungarian dishes. The cookery school was well set up and we had a great time learning about Hungarian culture. We enjoyed eating what we'd cooked as well as getting to try local spirits and wines with it. Definitely recommend!

Amazing workshop and food

We made an amazing meal with our instructor Vesna. She was very approchable and kind and her great instruction and attitude led us to having one of the best experiences we had in Budapest. It was great fin and highly recommended

Delicious and fun class!!

Great cooking class with Vesna! Due to my error, we were late for class but Vesna helped us to get there quickly and get cooking. Her recipes and the food we made were outstanding. We were with friends and it was a great way to spend a few hours learning Hungarian recipes, chicken paprikash, yummy! Highly recommend!!

SUPER AWESOMEEEE

I don’t even know how to explain! I was received with a big smile when I opened the door and that made me feel uncomfortable. I was worried because I was travelling alone and was the only person booked for that hour but it exceeded my expectations in a positive way. We cooked 3 dishes and the sour cherry pie was my favourite 🙏❤️ The person teaching was super patient, kind and opened :) I super recommend it

5 Star Experience in Budapest

A highlight of our trip to Budapest was attending the Chef Parade cooking school. Our experience began with t trip to the local city market which provides food to the restaurants and families in Budapest. We got to take in the diversity of plants and animals that make up the Hungarian Cuisine. Then we took a short cab ride across the Danube to Buda where we enjoyed a hands on experience with cooking delicious Hungarian food. The joy of the class came in part from our excellent teacher and her hands on approach to learning. We make the Goulash, Chicken Paprikash , and Apple Strudel under our teacher’s careful guidance. Then came the best part of all! We got to eat the food we cooked and enjoy the rich tastes of Hungary! I highly recommend this experience as it will submerse you in Hungary’s rich food culture! And take a look at the cook book. It’s well worth the modest price!

Market Tour and Cooking in Budapest with Vesna

Vesna was the best! Her English was almost as good as her cooking and teaching skills. She showed us how and helped us prepare the best meal we had in Hungary, after giving us a very informative guided tour of the Market. Great way to spend a morning and prepare for and eat a great lunch!

Delicious and fun cooking in Budapest!

My son and I booked a private cooking class with Chefparade. Our instructor was Vesna and she was AMAZING! My son is only 10, but thoroughly enjoys hands on learning so we frequently do family cooking classes when we travel to the new country. This class was one of our absolute favorites. We made some amazing food and had so much fun learning to cook some of our favorite Hungarian recipes. We highly recommend this experience to learn about the culture and cooking traditions and to have an incredible amount of fun!

Wonderful way to spend a day!

The market was fascinating and our guide was expert in showing us the ins and outs. Our class was informative, well-timed, and the dishes were delicious. Our chef/guide was personable and a great teacher. Our day was just perfect, and all off our friends at home are wanting to experience the same for themselves.

Solo Hungarian cooking!!!

With minimal time in Hungary but a love of cooking I was really surprised when I was offered the option for the market tour and Hungarian cooking class without any other attendees booked! Vesna was an absolute delight with an introduction to the market hall and then in the kitchen. The recipes were easy to follow and I learnt a couple of new techniques in this relaxed environment! Loved the experience and would highly recommend.

Excellent lunch & even better chef

We had the most fun cooking class with our chef Ban Norbi. He was very helpful and taught us well in cooking the dishes. He made the experience even better. Would recommend the cooking class to anyone visiting Boedapest with friends.

Great Cooking Class and Market Tour

Chef Vesna provided the four of us with an excellent tour of the City Market and an even better and more enjoyable hand-on cooking class. We prepared and the n ate 3 traditional and delicious Hungarian dishes: goulash, chicken paprikash, and and apple streusel variation. The 4-5 hour tour and class was relaxed, with excellent guidance on cooking technique and management of seasoning, resulting in a delicious lunch. Vesna was both skilled and charming. The facilities were fully furnished with all the necessary kitchen tools to make the class flow smoothly. We would totally recommend this experience to foodies or those experimenting with cooking.

Cooking and Eating.

Everything done well. Great tour of market. Real fun cooking class. We had to do everything, so we learned a lot. Then ate what we had prepared and we were proud what we had done.

You get what you pay for.

There were some interesting cooking tips. The cooking portion of the class lasted 5 long hours. The cooking process did not match the recipe. I came to this class to learn the preparation and taste of authentic Hungarian food, but too often we were told to season to our taste. I wanted Hungarian taste. My food turned out bland which I have heard Hungarian food is not.

WOW, just WOW! 10 thumbs up!

If I could give this more that 5 stars, I would. Our excursion with Viking was canceled, so I signed up for the class the night before and they were ready to go in the morning. It was just my mom and I and the instructor, Balazs. He was AWESOME! We made Gulyasleves (Goulash Soup), Csirkepaprikas, nokedli (Chicken Paprikash & Gnocchi) and Almas Retes (Apple Strudel). He had us do all the work, from chopping, measuring, seasoning, tasting and preparing. Then we all sat down to a lovely meal. Drinks were included. We had a lot of leftovers, so we gave the soup and chicken to Balazs and we took the apple strudel to share with our friends from our Viking River cruise. I HIGHLY recommend this class. We had been at the market the day before, so we didn't sign up for that. Another highlight... no dishes to wash. The kitchen/school was outfitted with everything you could need in a kitchen. Well done! I hope that when I try the recipes at home they come out half as good.

Authentic cooking experience and market tour

What a great way to begin a trip! On my first day in Budapest, we began with a market tour where our guide taught us all about the local delicacies and alcoholic beverages providing some samples as we wandered through the market. We then hopped in a car to the Chef Parade cooking school where we made Hungarian goulash soup, Chicken Paprikash and Hungarian crepes for dessert. It was all delicious and so much fun. I felt prepared to tackle the local cuisine after learning about it from an expert.
