In a city full of phenomenal food, this tour was a highlight! Our tour guide George was not only friendly and knowledgeable as one might expect, but turned out to be the sort of good company you might enjoy from a long-time friend. Along with samplings of such typical Budapest delights as poppy seed strudel, langos, local meats, cheeses, an assortment of paprikas fresh and prepared, goulash, breads, and wines (need I say, come hungry!) we enjoyed a wonderful conversation about the history of the city and the sites we were seeing. George entertained all our questions and afterwards, was generous enough to share his family recipe for goulash. Overall, the tour was a great value for the price and we can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had. As foodies who travel pretty extensively, this food tour was among the best we've experienced.

5 star food tour in Budapest!

Zoltan was fabulous! We had five couples and we all LOVED his knowledge of Budapest, Hungarian history and I’d the local food and drink!!! Five stars for sure. It is a “must do” if you are visiting this wonderful city!

George was a great tour host, not only did he take us to some great restaurants and spots to eat but he also talked about the history of Budapest while on the tour. Perfect Food Tour in the Heart of Budapest

We always do a Secret Food Tours expedition whenever we visit a new city. It is a perfect introduction to not just the local food but also some of the city's history and architecture. Secret Food Tour guides seem to do a perfect blend of everything. In Budapest, we had the absolute pleasure of having George as our guide. He introduced us to some of the best local food we've ever tasted and one special summer dish (that had never showed up in any of my searches) became our favorite food! Would have never known about it otherwise. He was also very informative and had the perfect itinerary of food, history, and architecture mapped out for us. Highly recommend - be sure to ask for George!

Great food tasting tour of Budapest.

George was a great host. Selected some excellent restaurants that provided unique Hungarian dishes: strudel, goulash, langos, charcuterie, wine tasting and cheese ball dessert. He also walked us to interesting sights while giving us background information on Hungary and Budapest. Wonderful experience!

Zoltan, the man, the myth, the legend - Gotta try this tour!

What can I say? Zoltan is awesome. The whole experience was wonderful. The food selection and locations were perfect. The goulash was out of this world. You have to have it! Zoltan the Hun is really great. Funny, smart, articulate, and knows his history. We learned and laughed a lot. Definitely take this tour!

Amazing & Delicious Tour!!

We loved the Budapest walking tasting tour with Zoltan! He took our family to several authentic Hungarian restaurants we would not have found on our own and helped us select delicious dishes to try. We were full at the end from all of the amazing food! We also loved meeting Zoltan and learning more about the history of Hungary through his personal stories. We highly recommend taking this tour with Zoltan - it was a highlight of our time in Budapest!

Tasty Dishes

Our food tour was exceptional. She took us to traditional restaurants serving traditional dishes. Was able to see different areas of the city as we tried different dishes. The walking distances to the different venues was average and not too hard. I would highly recommend this tour.

A Highlight of Budapest

Tour guide Daniel met us at the Great Market Hall, where we started with tastings from different vendors in the market, including langos, exotic meats, paprika peppers, pickled foods, and more! Then on to a Hungarian lunch spot for a traditional hearty meal of goulash, chicken, and more. After lunch, we popped into a ruin bar for shots of palinka. Next was a stop at the very special Tasting Table for sips of an array of Hungarian wines. We wrapped up at a cafe for coffees and a selection of Hungarian desserts. As we walked from place to place, Daniel shared with us the history of Budapest, the special roles these foods play in the culture, how to ensure you are buying high-quality paprika, how to "cheers" in Hungarian, and what drinking palinka with a new acquaintance means! We greatly enjoyed our tour and it was one of the highlights of our time in Budapest.

Before my partner and I came to Buda a friend of mine recommended "secret food tours" as he did one in San Francisco, so I booked online before we came, and I must say, it was the best decision I have ever made. Norbert, our guide was so professional, knowledgable and friendly from the first minute. We went to many fantastic eateries, gaining an understanding and history of the types of food and surroundings. It was truly eye opening. The whole experience was fantastic, we both came away more than stuffed. It is an excellent way to experience the local cuisine, especially when you have a guide like Norbert, who really could not do enough for us. Excellent value for money and we will be doing another one of these tours wherever we go next.

Can't recommend this highly enough!

The food tour was absolutely brilliant, the tour guide Zultan was fantastic and have us a really good tour of the city and loads of history and background as well as - obviously - taking us to some amazing food stops! The Strudel was delicious and the cheese and wine was also a real highlight, but we couldn't fault any of it at all. He also gave us some really great recommendations for places to go and eat for the rest of our break. Do this tour if you like food! The Obuda tour also sounded amazing and I'd do that again with Zultan if I returned to Budapest.
