Personal look into an amazing city

Barbara was our guide and she was just perfect. First she found out what we would like to see and what we could tolerate on such a hot day. Then she took us at a reasonable pace through the city, stopping at various spots with wonderful insights. Barbara clearly loves her country and her city and we really appreciated the time she spent with us. We would certainly book again with Taste Hungary on our next visit and, hopefully, spend more time with the wonderful wines of Hungary.

Executive Summary: Take This Tour!

My tour guide was Endre - charming, cheerful, punctual, well-travelled and with ridiculously good English. The private tours are customisable - we customised mine so much that the four hour tour took nearly six fascinating and enjoyable hours. We also “customised” coffee and cake into Villányi Franc! You’ll cover a lot of ground on this tour but it’s not physically demanding thanks to clever tactical use of public transport. Endre was particularly good at highlighting the subtle details and history that one would otherwise miss - particularly how the different epochs are represented in the architecture (often even within the same building).

This was the best experience we had during our visit to Budapest! Our guide Angela was knowledgeable and professional, and during our 4+ walking tour we visited many of the districts of this beautiful city. This is a must do when you visit!!!!!

Valentine’s Tour

Such a knowledgable guide and genuinely interested in our tour goals. We learnt so much about Budapest’s history and the impact on its society and culture. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough. So pleased we didn’t choose a cheaper alternative (we saw so many 30+ headcount tours; how can that work?)

A wonderful Budapest experience - thanks to ANA:)

This tour kicked off at the 'Tasting Table', right where our 'Culinary' tour ended - a brilliant segue from one tour to the next - and both so very different. On our Budapest Grand Walk, our tour guide, Ana, was simply the BEST! Her general knowledge and overall passion for her hometown was infectious. We loved hearing so much of Hungary's history as we weaved our way all over 'Pest'. We now absolutely love Budapest, thanks to Ana, and look forward to returning again one day. THANK YOU!

Guide was well informed and very helpful. He gave us an insight into the local politics and everyday life in Budapest as well as the history. We went on the underground which was very interesting and well run. The tour was good value.

Amazing food tour and wine dinner!

We did both the food tour and Thursday evening wine dinner during our recent trip to Budapest and loved both! We had Aggie as a tour guide for the walking tour. She was wonderful, and very knowledgeable and passionate about her hometown. We had the opportunity to try a wide variety of authentic Hungarian food and wines. The wine dinner was fabulous, great conversations with other guests, and excellent information about the wines we were tasting. The winemaker actually attended the dinner too, which was fabulous. The sommelier allowed us to taste the wines in the new 6-bottle packages that they offer for sale in the US - all were excellent, and I ordered a package as soon as we got home! Really, really wonderful experience - worth including in any Budapest itinerary. We look forward to returning to the beautiful city of Budapest, and trying other tours offered by Taste Hungary! Also hoping to join some of their future DC area events!

Outstanding tour!

Really enjoyed this tour! Unfortunately, I've forgotten the tour guide's name (Lilla perhaps?) but she was delightful. Very personable, knowledgeable and accommodating. She had planned to stop and have a drink early in the tour but because we were coming off a food tour, she quickly adjusted the schedule and postponed the drink for later. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the city, and shared freely as we walked around Pest. We saw all of the major sights, and some lesser known as well - Hungarian Parliament Building, Shoes on the Danube, Heroes Square, Liberty Square, Opera House, St. Stephens Basilica, Jewish Qtr, Hungarian National Radio Building, and more. We stopped and had a beer at City Park, and then a delicious dessert and coffee at a nice little cafe. She even provided restaurant suggestions (we went later, it was delicious!).

Awesome! Fantastic was to learn about Budapest.

Lilla was an amazing guide; enthusiastic, informative, and funny. So much beauty and history in this wonderful city, and so good to have someone explain why and how Budapest has developed over 1000+ years. Just the two of us on our tour. Highly recommend the small tours, this one in particular, and especially if you get Lilla as your guide!

Budapest Grand Walk

This was a great small group tour. Just one other couple with us and our excellent guide Andras. Budapest is full of beautiful architecture (even in the pouring rain) and Andras made it even better. He was very informative, super friendly and lots of fun. He also gave us lots of recommendations for the rest of our time in Budapest. Highly recommend this tour or any tour with Andras.

Wow! Best way to start your visit in Budapest

Andrea was engaging, enthusiastic and informative. Her journalism background showed with her fascinating accounts which included cultural, historic and personal perspectives. We started in the Great Hall, visited the local's spots and concluded with wine tasting. We left the tour with new insights and appreciation for Hungarian cuisine and culture. Great tour and way to start our time in Budapest

We started our time in Budapest with a 4 hour walking tour with Aniko as our guide. She was wonderful, informative and fun. Great way to begin a week so that we had some insight as to the history of the city for the rest of our visit.

Great walking tour with a fantastic guide

Had a fabulous 4-hour walking tour of Pest with Anikó on our first day here. Being a Budapest native, she was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about her city, and it certainly showed. She brought us through the streets of Pest and provided us with plenty of information about the history and culture of this beautiful city.

interesting and tasty

I have found it very beneficial to do a well rated guided food tour when getting to a city, it helps with figuring out where to eat the rest of the time you are there. We did this tour in late February, so understandably not a major touristy time. We were the only ones on the tour with our lovely guide, whose name I wish i could remember. We started the tour with some unicum, which actually worked to settle my upset stomach! We sampled many little places and a variety of foods. I enjoyed the wine shop at the end of the tour as I found Hungarian wines to be often very excellent. a very enjoyable day. thank you

A great way to discover Pest

Our guide took us to through the streets of Pest, providing great details about the history and the culture of the city - this was a great overview on our first day so that we could decide afterwards what we wanted to spend more time exploring. We also liked the idea of taking public transportation (cost included in price) to reach some of the landmarks located a bit further.

The only tour of Budapest you will need

We had done a smaller tour with our river cruise line and were very unhappy. A friend had suggested we book this tour ahead of the cruise as they are often fully booked. Great suggestion! We met our Tour Guide George at The Tasting Table and as we were the only 2 in the group had a wonderful private tour. George was tremendously knowledgeable regarding the history of the city as well as little anecdotes. Although the walking tour was of Pest only much of the Buda side history-wise was touched upon. I would highly recommend this company and George in particular for this very informative and fun tour.

Great overview of Pest

I found Taste Hungary from a recommendation in Rick Steve’s Budapest book regarding their food tour, however I was thrilled to find out that they offered general site seeing walking tours as well. The 4 hr Grand tour was the first of 3 tours I booked with Taste Hungary. This is a long tour, which actually ran long at close to 4.5 hrs, so bring your walking shoes. I’m not sure that there was a need for the wine tasting at the beginning of the tour, but it made for a good meet and greet. Our tour only had 5 people, plus a guide in training. We made our way thru the Jewish quarter stopping at many places I wouldn’t have found otherwise, over to the Opera house, took the metro up for a quick stop at hero’s square, then metro back to St. Stephens area, we stopped in a cafe nearby where we got to order our choice of beverage, then made our way up to the Parliament building stopping at many statues and learning about the political history that this neighborhood has seen, then we walked along the Danube to the Shoe monument and to the foot of the chain bridge to end. Our guide Orsolya was excellent and had much knowledge and kept everyone’s attention. Great tour.

<p>We were very lucky - we got a best tour ever - Aneko - maybe her name is spelt wrong - really good - she spent 5 hours , knew Budapest like the back of her hand - she was born in Budapest and clearly loved the history and know her stuff - she also took us into a coffee house and would no let us pay for coffee and cake - I,ve done number of these city tours and she was by far the best ! worth every penny <br/> regards Stew and Lindsey</p>

Thomas was a fantastic guide.He was knowledgeable about all the sights and he even came with us on the no 2 bus which goes along the Danube. i would recommend him.
