Affordable and Enjoyable

Really enjoyed this tour our tour manager Zac&Paul was very knowledgeable about XXXX would definitely recommend coming on this tour and might come back another time to see the production since they only do it on certain days

A HISTORY OF XXXX BEER

Paul was excellent as a guide. A wealth of knowledge about XXXX and the brewing process. A few DadJokes thrown in to keep the patrons on their toes. It is an interesting story and well organised. We finished up by sampling the product am which was most enjoyable.

Enjoyable

We enjoyed this tour and the tastings. We decided to walk there from Brisbane, and although the start of the walk was very enjoyable, the end was not as it was on a main road. We would definitelyrecommend getting public transport.

Great tour

Me and my wife went here and enjoyed this tour very much. We both got food afterwards which was really tasty also the tour itself was super interesting learning the history of the brewery and then getting a tour of the brewery itself id definitely recommend for anyone visiting Brisbane looking for something to do. It was our tour guides first time leading a tour and he did a great job and we also went home with loads of merch to from the gift shop. Long live the quaddie

Very interesting and fun tour. Great beer tasting and food!

Great tour and really appreciated Paul taking us around as he has worked at XXXX for decades, and knew every detail intimately regarding the brewing process, the many efficiency and quality improvements and great memories of the early days when a pot of beer was allowed at lunch and after work!

What a bloody great tour enjoyed by the whole family. We were very fortunate to have Ken as our tour guide what a legend. I had a funny feeling he likes a frothy & very passionate about the XXXX Company. Only wish that it was a work day so we could see the operations. But still throughly enjoyed & will be telling my mates.

What a great tour!

We took this tour on Good Friday 2024 and were very lucky to get Ken as our tour guide. Ken was very knowledgeable and very passionate about the brewery. As he had held many positions within the company he had a wealth of information about every area we visited. At he end of the tour he spent a lot of time talking to all of the participants and of course the samples were delicious. After the tour we stayed and had some dinner in the restaurant which was also delicious. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon.

Fun, interesting, worth the money we spend.

We did the tour on a Saturday morning and we were lucky enough to get Josh as out tour guide. He was a very fun guide. He made the tour very interesting and there was no question he couldn't answer. The tour was very interesting and worth doing. We all enjoyed the tasting bit at the end as well! We stayed to have a light lunch afterwards and it was really good.

XXXX Brewery and Alehouse Tour

Great tour of an iconic brewery. Tour guide Josh was informative and entertaining. I learned so much about the history and modern brewing processes and would do this tour again.

Highly recommend, our tour guide Ken was great and it was an added bonus that he had a lot of personal experience and knowledge with the business throughout its history. The food was delicious also.

Nice tour with insights of the brewing process

The tour by itself was good as we got to see the different steps of the process of brewing beer. The tour was done by an enthusiastic co-worker of the brewery and he was passionately telling about how the beer is made. For us as tourists sometimes it was difficult to follow the story the co-worker was telling about the process because sometimes he was telling very fast. Nevertheless it was an experience that you should've done while you're in Brisbane.

Well Worth doing.

Very interesting tour. It gave us the history of the brewery right up to today’s new innovations. Our guide was very thorough and willing to answer all our questions. Very nice man.

Tasting from the wooden keg

A must do while in Brisbane, the history of the brewery is very interesting and surprising, I had no idea my favourite beer still comes out of a wooden keg at the brewery and the breakfast creek hotel,also a massive shout out to our amazing tour guide Josh for completing our brewery experience, thanks so much.

XXXX Brewery history and tasting.

Very informative with the history of the brewery an important part of Brisbane. Many firsts telephone poles, stubbies and more. Our guide was very good. He made the tour. Food and drinks we top notch.We recommend this.

Had a fantastic time touring XXXX… not a beer fan so was not sure I’d enjoy myself, the tour guide exceptional knows it all past and present, the staff we were served by for drinks and lunch again amazing. Code the burger and chips sensational yum

Great tour, food, and beer tasting

Josh took the group through the brewery at a really good pace, we were never in one room for too long, and he gave us all the information in a really interesting way. Everyone got a $5 gift card for merchandise. The beer tasting was excellent! We got prepaid burgers and someone had taken our number but the staff got us sorted. Burgers were really good!!

A must do!

Paul was our tour guide and he was fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable - he took his time to explain everything and so make the tour feel very personalised. Highly recommended if you are in Brisbane!

XXXX Tour

Fascinating. Ken, our guide, had a great enthusiasm that shone through. Possibly slightly long and due to loud machinery you couldn’t hear guide at parts unless close to them which wasn’t possible in large group. (I think part of the length was Ken trying to make up for lost time as people were late) Ken’s knowledge was amazing and obviously loves his job. Overall, very enjoyable and educational. Great merchandise - and very reasonable price, especially with the $5 voucher. Would be great if the guide could tell people to turn phones off or to silent for the duration of the tour, as twice someone’s phone rang and disturbed what was happening. It would’ve been great to see some of the brewery in action - the bottle labelling was hard to imagine without seeing it working. It is great to hear how much of your by-products are recycled. Overall, great experience and very good value for money.

Working of a brewery

Informative tour albeit you don't really get close up to equipment and on a weekend nothing is running so no vibrancy or smell. Good info videos before and the guide helps keep it interesting. Burger and beer at end were good.

Fun and detailed!

It was really fun! Compared to other brewery tours I've been on, we actually really got into the details of how the plant operates and genuine local history. Paul, our tour guide, was really knowledgeable and entertaining (with serious dad joke energy!). Allow around 2 hours for the tour, including the tasting at the end. It's hard to believe that as Brisbane locals we have never been up to now - I would go again and would recommend it to anyone that's either visiting Brisbane or has lived here for years!

Must do Tour!

Fabulous tour! We were given plenty of knowledge about how the beer is made and shown all the different areas in the factory plus many facts about its history. I would recommend the burger at the end, really tasty and enjoyable!

XXX Brewery Tour - a must for locals and visitors to Brisbane

The Stafford PROBUS Club did a 90-minute tour of the Castlemaine XXXX Brewery on Saturday 28th October and it was unforgettable. The tour guide, Joshua, was extremely knowledgeable and delivered the information on the background of the brewery and the current status in a very entertaining manner. He had a delightful sense of humour. The beer tasting at the end of the tour was very much appreciated on a hot day and again he delivered the beer and the information in a way that kept everyone interested. We all enjoyed our lunch that followed the tasting and everyone in group thoroughly recommends this tour to anyone who wants to know a lot more about Queensland's favourite beer.

An educational afternoon

A very educational brewing tour, with significant brewing skills included. This made the tour extremely interesting and rewarding with descriptions of the different brewing processes utilized to produce various "artisanal " brews from a high-volume production plant. Tour guide, Ken with much experience was really able to add value with knowledge of brewing, history, and current and previous marketing and consumption trends.

Great history but need to see the plant in operation

The tour guide was fun and knew his stuff and learning the history behind xxxx was real good. The unfortunate part about the tour that with nothing running your missing out on how it all really works. You really need to do the tour only if you can see the full place in operation.

Average

It was a shame the factory was all but closed for our tour so we didn’t get to the see moving components. However, our guide although a little dull and monotone was very informative. Definitely open for the burger package as they were delicious.

A great day out when visiting Brisbane

This was the 2nd time I'd done the XXXX brewery tour, but this time I brought my wife as well as family who were on holiday from the UK. The 1st time I visited was back in 2008, but it hasn't changed that much. The tour itself was really good fun and very interesting, thanks to our superb tour guide, Ken. The tour starts with a short history of beer, followed by a video on XXXX and its origins. Upon completion of the video, the tour of the brewery/facility commenced. The process of beer production is explained from start to finish, showing the different stages in production. We also saw the kegging and packaging facilities. The tour ended in the alehouse where we tried several beers brewed in-house. It was a nice touch to receive a discount voucher for merchandise. I didn't try the food this time but from what I saw come out to other customers, it was well presented and reasonably priced. It's great to see how much the brewery has evolved over the years and the initiatives it uses to minimise its impact on the environment. Minor comments, none of which impacted the enjoyment. At times it could be difficult to hear what the tour guide was saying due to machinery noises. Perhaps a microphone or radio earpieces for guests would help. It was a shame to see that "XXX sparkling ale", which was exclusive to the alehouse and breakfast creek hotel is no longer available. I thought it was interesting to compare this older recipe beer to the current brews produced today. I would definitely recommend the tour to anyone visiting Brisbane. A true Queensland icon. Big thanks to Ken.

Fun, Value, XXXX Beer

Went on a Saturday morning tour with Josh as our guide. He was very good fun, but also very full of knowledge about the XXXX Factory, and the process of making beer. We didn't see the line running, being a Saturday, but watched the videos whilst enjoying our beer tasting. Good Value Tour.

Ken was a fabulous guide. His wealth of knowledge made for a fantastic tour. My family really enjoyed it and we learnt so much about the history of XXXX. Would highly recommend. Thanks Ken!!

Top tour worth every cent and more

This was an excellent tour our tour guide Ken had so much knowledge and personality a really great guide. Would recommend this to anyone even if they don’t drink beer. Will be back !

XXXX Tour Great

We had a day layover in Brisbane and decided to see Suncorp Stadium statues and the XXXX Brewery. We arrived and saw that there was a tour so had nice burger and a couple of beers while waiting for the tour. It was great Ken out guide was so good his knowledge and information was so intriguing as it came from a 42 year employment knowledge. At the end we had a beer tasting and it was so good

Worth every penny!

Tour was a great day out - very informative and enjoyable. The guide was also superb, answering all the questions with a great sense of humour. And the food was great!

XXXX means Extra special!

We thought the brewery had actually stopped producing when the recognisable smell disappeared years ago and were glad to discover that the tour existed and it was still in full production. Our guide Ken did a fantastic job guiding us through the history and operations of the brewery and we both enjoyed the tasting after the factory tour. Our favourites? The 105 lashes and the Gold, but all were good. The beer battered chips we bought to eat on our way home were delicious and stayed crispy on the outside until the last one. Can definitely recommend this tour. (and Ken's guiding abilities - he worked there for 42 years and really knows his stuff.)

Enjoyable tour, plenty of beer at the end and the wagyu burger was just the best I have ever had. Our Brazilian bar staff were great and extremely helpful.

Great afternoon tour

The tour was a great time and our guide was a lovely man with a great haircut. We’re 3 Americans who know nothing about the brewery but we enjoyed the entire trip. Such a lovely encounter and would recommend to anyone.

Great tour of a great brewery

Very interesting tour that ended in very generous pours of three XXXX beers. The tour guide, Paul, was a hoot. He seemed to be truly proud of his long association with XXXX, and it came through.

A little disappointing as we couldn't hear the guide and wasn't that knowledgable

A little disappointed. The guide didnt seem to know much about the Brewery. He said he worked there for years and now retired and felt that this job was 'just something for him to do' - he wasn't clear in what he was saying and couldn't answer some of the questions. He mumbled a lot and we couldn't hear what he was saying. Lovely gentleman but not the job for him

Great fact tour

We loved our tour guide. He was hilarious and had us laughing all the way. Very informative. This tour is a must if you drink beer, or just want some historic knowledge on the beer making process. Really recommend this tour

XXXX - It's not because they can't spell Beer...

Tour was well worth it... Who knew the effort that goes in to allow us to twist the top off a cold one to enjoy a beer. Ken our Guide was very informative, and the very right person based on his extensive experience..

Great tour to do with Friends and Family. We did it for our sons 21st birthday and had a great time. Ken our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and and a great guy. (He has worked at XXXX for 40+ years) Great beer tasting at the end. Highly recommend.
