South Brisbane Cemetery Ghost Tour

Definitely recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our night. We have done many ghost tours around Australia and overseas, and your tours always rate highly with us. We love the true life stories, the highly researched backgrounds of the ppl who are buried there. It's been a long time between drinks worth your tours. The last one we did was the last sleepover at boggo road. We would love to go back there! Last night was amazing. There was so much activity. We captured many things in photos that are very clear. Thank you for offering these tours. It's highly educational and very enjoyable.

2 hours of standing for a history lesson

The tour was good but it was more of a history lesson then a scary ghost tour. More stories regarding how people died than ghost experiences had in the cemetery. Be prepared to stand in the one spot for long periods of time as the hosts speak extremely slow ( for dramatic effect ) By the end of the 2 hours people were just sitting on the road, gutter or dirt.

A must experience, historic and well presented tour.

The two young men, our guides, were exceptional in their presentation, knowledge, and care in keeping the company together and ensuring safety from marauding ghosts and walking on broken graves. Both young men spoke internationally accepted standard English and were adept at character acting when speaking as though they were characters long since buried. I consider this tour in the hands of such hosts to be a highlight of the Brisbane night.

Brilliant spooky history tour

This tour was so great. Our tour guides were brilliant and so knowledgeable. They also spent the time after the tour to chat to us about our experience and other tours around the city. I could have spoken to Harley and Jean for hours! Can't recommend this tour and this company enough!

A different experience

Enjoyed the history and stories. The atmosphere supported the tour. Great tour guides fitted the part.

Presenters for the night...

Presenters for the night did a great job with atmosphere and the information was great. Educational without knowing your learning.

Disappointed

I did this tour many years ago and it was great, Yesterday I decided to arrange a date night with my partner who has never experienced this tour before. However we were extremely disappointed. Our tour guide was in experienced didn't know where he was going half of the time, didn't know the full names of the deceased, such as Jack the rippers full name, Did not know the actual name of the beer that William Macnaughton Galloway drank, the guide said he drank triple XXX LoL. The tour is meant to last for 2 hours and it last for 1.5 hours. We did not see everything like the book we got handed to us at the end, Basically it was like a primary school excursion.

Rewarding

The stories of the residents. Made me want to delve more into the history of Brisbane. Did not know of the fate of the last man to be executed or of his visitor who still leaves flowers on his grave.

Fun but unfortunate

Whilst my partner and kids had a blast once in there, it was upsetting that I was denied entry due to my choice of footwear. Frustrated that I couldn’t join them, I didn’t argue the point and told them to go on ahead with out me- waited outside and watched as the same guide let in another young lady who had sandles on - I can swallow my pride and admit that I chose the wrong shoes. But for guides to pick and choose who they let it. It’s sad.

Tales from the grave

The history was super interesting. The guide keep us safe and no ghost attacked us. The animals are noisy. The sensor motion lights ruin the vibe slightly and it would be better if we didn't come across another group.

Wonderful and highly worth it!

Absolutely worth it! Wonderful experience! There's a lot of walking up and down hills so might not be accessible for some. Highly recommend.

Was just me, my partner and Harlley. He was very knowledgeable and it was like our own private tour. Was quite spooky being so personal with just 3 of us. Highly recommended.

Worth it

The two gentlemen running the tour had a tough night in a thunderstorm. But they did a great job, the stories were great. They took appropriate care of people because there had been a storm which meant unfortunately we had to stick to the main paths, a sensible decision on the night and it was still a great tour. My friend and i loved it. Very pretty place in some ways in the evening light.

Really good! Would Recommend

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of the tour. The tour lasts two hours but it goes by so so quick. The tour guide (Jan) was so lovely and is such a great story teller! Also, although your walking for two hours, it’s really easy and leisurely, I wasn’t tired at any point. The overall atmosphere when you’re doing the tour is really nice too, it’s not about being scary, it’s about the history and telling South Brisbane’s stories. Some of the stories make it a little spooky, but I love that. It was such a great experience and really worth it. Absolutely loved it.

South Brisbane Cemetery Ghost Tour

Thought this would be an interesting Saturday night out. The only good thing about the night was the cemetery itself - lovely old cemetery and a beautiful night to walk around looking at the headstones. The ghost tour however, I could have done without. Claims of real history, seriously, nothing but far fetched stories that do not do this place any justice. I must have missed the reasoning for the guides cane but it was most annoying. Expensive, uninteresting and ridiculous stories - I do not recommend this tour.

Great evening tour

Great tour, prefect balance between ghosts and local history. Guide was very knowledgeable. Booking confirmation specifies you need a real torch but phone torch light is sufficient.

Has the potential to be a great tour

Did the ‘Hangman’s Walk’ tour with family. We were really looking forward to this tour, when we arrived the host at the gate was lovely, all staff were very nice and helpful. When on the tour, it went downhill, the stories were dragged out so long, told so slowly. This could have been and has the potential to be really interesting if the stories cut to the chase a bit quicker, some great information, but standing in the one spot, at one grave with mosquitos eating you alive was not fun. The novelty of the ghost tour wore off quick, after well over an hour we had done 4 graves and decided we would leave the tour, we had more fun walking back to our car through the cemetery on our own! I can not say it is like this for all the tours they run. I may try another one and hopefully the tour operators redeem themselves, I understand they are volunteers but still when your taking peoples money you have to deliver a level of service.

Very Disappointed

Did this tour a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed. Sent a message to tour operators hoping for a reply and have not had a reply at all. So unfortunately I am leaving my first negative review ever. All stories were very long winded with very little ghost content. After the first story most people were bored and fidgety. A boring story about a gravedigger who worked there for a day and had a bad experience, nothing to do with ghosts. This story was 30 minutes long and some people left at this stage. Another story about a mystery person who has been leaving flowers on a grave every Sunday for years assured us they will be there the next day, again nothing to do with a ghost and out of curiosity have been to cemetery the last 3 Sundays at 6am and guess what. NO FLOWERS. A very long 2 hours, not worth $30 each and would not recommend

Would recommend!

I loved this tour, as the Tour Guide was very informative and interesting, and I found it very fascinating, especially the history behind some of the stories told. Would recommend this tour, especially if you have done the Boggo Road Ghosts and Gallows tour.

SOUTH BRISBANE CRIMINAL TOUR

Wendy and I went on a walking tour of South Brisbane Cemetery with Jack SIM. Jack has an amazing memory for details of the crime and ghostly past of the cemetery. It was well worth the time to be able to find out some of the criminal past of Brisbane through the voice of someone who is so passionate about this part of Brisbane's history.

Well done

I was sad we did not see any ghosts, however I was quite pleased with our guide. She had her act sorted out and was dressed for the part. She also knew her history.

Terrible customer service

Booked this tour through scoopin, and received no notification that you need to wear closed shoes. Turned up to the tour wearing sandles, tour guide suggested ringing the tour coordinator. Rung the tour coordinator and got the worse customer service EVER, absolutely no concern or ownership of relationship with scoopin. It is scoopins issue, not his (regardless of the fact that he / his company has engaged scoopin). Rick if you're reading this, a bit of empathy and understanding goes a long way when providing a service, suggest you spend some time investing in some customer service training.

You’ll wish you were dead...

4 long-winded stories painstakingly dragged out for 2 hours. Only one actually related to a ‘ghost’. I wanted to leave after half an hour.

Save your money

We we're looking forward to the tour but the 4 of us were disappointed with the tour guides interpretation and information on the evening we went. Obviously we weren't the only ones as another couple left part way through the walk ! We have been on ghost tours in Tasmania and England and I think this was sadly lacking . Maybe if we had another guide it might have been better.

Great night out!

The tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable. He stayed in character the whole night, even when interupted by a group of pasters by. Definatly recommemed and will do another tour soon.

Incredible

The tour was amazing ! It was raining which made it every spookier when learning the stories. Recommend 100% as it just was so incredible! Just knowing that there were people alive and who had stories just like you and i, just gets a chill up youre arm because you know you’ll end up just like them. I hope i can do all the tours in the bear future 😍

Great night

This was our first ghost tour and will not be our last. Was a great night, we loved hearing the history of some of the people who were buried here. Lily was great and very approachable. There was one part in the cemetery that felt icey cold, it was a hot night, my partner turned to me and said has it just got cold, it felt like winter jut in this one spot. Gave us goosebumps. We plan on doing all the Brisbane ghost tours. Great night and atmosphere

South Brisbane Ghost Tour

First ghost tour undertaken, hosted by Lilly (?). Very dramatic when telling stories, with the right amount of humour. Dramatic flair in telling of all stories, knowledgeable in each one. Was a great change to what I would normally do on a Saturday night

Best Ghost Tour (so far...)

Took the family (mum, dad, 11yr daughter, 16yr old son and grandma) and we all loved the tour. Guided by Lilly, who was the perfect historian/spooky story-teller, everyone of us had a such a great time being scared as well as entertained that we have booked our next ghost tour (Boggo Road jail). Best part of new booking is that we get to use our bonus gift voucher supplied by Brisbane Ghost tours, which is the difference we paid as we booked and paid for our first tour prior to the 20th anniversary special prices :)

Interesting and informative

Thoroughly enjoyable tour. lily certainly knew her history and never tried to misled if answer unknown. Will certainly consider doing a historical tour with her. One woman arrived in jandals and was firmly but politely told she could not participate- good for sticking to your guns- it is very clear on the website and email...even highlighted in red as to prerequisite footwear.

Ghostly and ghastly stories from the grave.

The guide was excellent. She looked and sounded the part. Her accounts of some of Brisbane's seedy history well worth this experience.

Fantastic Night and well organised

We did the South Brisbane Cemetery Ghost Tour a while ago. It was extremely well organised. We found it interesting and so much fun. Highly recommend and of the tours run by Brisbane Ghost Tours.
