What an awesome tour we had today with the team from Sunset Safaris on Moreton Island. It was so professionally run but with the essential twist of good ol' Aussie humour icing from 'Croc' our 4wd desert guru! He gave our son an unforgettable time.... thanks heaps, you awesome human. I hope we cross paths next time we come back 😘🍻

A long day

It was a long day with lots of travelling and not much activity. Fun sand boarding and amazing to snorkel, beautiful place with really nice people, but did not get to kayak in the end due to the weather and the tides.

Beautiful from start to finish

This was my first ever time snorkelling and it was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the shipwrecks surrounded by beautiful sea life, and getting to see it all over again in the kayaks was an added bonus.

We had lot of fun

We recently took a trip with our family and had a fantastic time. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The snorkeling was great, with plenty of sea life around the shipwreck. One of the staff even pulled my kayak to show me a sea turtle, which was a highlight of the trip. The 4-wheel drive was a thrilling and bumpy adventure that added to the fun.

Moreton Island Day Trip

Once the ferry and island fees are included the trip doesn't represent great value for money given the amount of time spent traveling to and from the island. I unfortunately did the trip on a very rainy day and while the activities went ahead as planned and the guides did well in the circumstances, they were ill-prepared for rain, with no towels, a leaky coach and nowhere dry to eat lunch.

Great tour to Moreton Island

Had such a good day going to Moreton Island with Australian Sunset Safaris! Especially the guide Jo from South Korea was really nice and helpful. Food was good as well - next time they should probably reserve the falafels for the vegans or vegetarians, so that there is enough for them. Would def recommend!

Great experience, highly recommend. Sandboard is soooooo much fun, must try it. Snorkeling is great, swim with lots of beautiful fishes.

Brilliant!

Wonderful experience. As I was traveling with younger kids, some activities might not have been perfectly suitable for them. But generally, I'm happy to take them back again when they grow up.

Controlled but distracted staff

Went to Moreton Island years ago in a small 4x4. Enjoyed that tour more as it allowed for more freedom of activity. If you are skittish about water activities this is a great tour for you. If you are more comfortable with snorkeling and kayaking and like more freedom this is less enjoyable. The tour is relatively large with a 4x4 bus. Novel, but many other visitors to contend with. The sand dune activity had a wonderful and helpful tour guide. 5 stars on him. Going down the sand dune requires good core strength (Superman pose - elbows up and out, back legs lifted while laying on stomach- for several seconds) to ride down successfully. It’s work to climb back up the dune so if fitness is an issue, this will be a hard one. The see through kayaking is tandem so if you’re in an odd group number or traveling alone you may ride with another person or tour guide. I was with a tour guide. He was more focused (rightfully) on guiding the group so it felt like I was conscripted as a backseater to a guide and less fun. You cannot go off on your own. The snorkeling was guided as well and again not allowed to go on your own so less fun. The lifeguard on the jet ski was preoccupied on her mobile fun and seemed quite distracted. Even during the line to get back on the ferry. The trip is designed for safety which is awesome so again this tour is good for beginners. Overall, the staff was polite but all seemed pretty distracted.

Really good fun day out. The staff were very polite. The transport was really calm and well organised. I would recommend it.

We had a great time with...

We had a great time with Viator. Our trip began with a ferry ride from the Port of Brisbane, for which we had to pay an additional $70, including national park fees (as mentioned in their description), along with on-site parking of $20 (which is available if you arrive early - we arrived 30 minutes early). The advertised time for catching the ferry at Port of Brisbane was 7:30 AM, but after booking, the confirmation email stated the time to be 9:45 AM, for which we received multiple reminders as well. We started our day with lunch. They provided wraps with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian filling options, which we could fill ourselves. Our first activity was kayaking, which was a bit challenging for us as we were new to it. Navigating a kayak with strong waves, wrecks, snorkelers, and other kayaking people from another group was not easy. The next activity was snorkelling, which was fun. They provided us with a wetsuit, snorkelling gear, and a life jacket. Being a non-swimmer, it was challenging at first, but as I got into the process, it became enjoyable. Our third activity was sandboarding, for which we had to catch a 4WD bus. We had very little time to change our clothes, use the toilets, etc. It started drizzling as we reached the dunes, and there were no toilets at the sand-boarding spot. As it drizzled, the sand became wet. They gave us wooden boards, which were getting stuck in the sand and were not slipping over the sand (probably due to the wet sand). They also had a very limited number of plastic boards, and we were taking turns using them. It would be great if they could replace the wooden boards with the plastic ones. Overall, the experience was good, since we did all of these activities for the first time. We would recommend it to others.

Moreton day trip

The experience was fantastic, with a plethora of exciting activities. However, the 1.5-hour bus ride from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, and back, was slightly inconvenient due to the freezing bus air conditioning. Despite repeatedly asking the driver to turn it off, it remained on throughout the journey.

Not worth the price

Overall, this trip was kind of unorganized and the group I was with felt rushed the whole time we were here. We spent more time traveling there than any actual activities. You do each thing for about 20 minutes even though they said it’d be about 45 min. Overall, it was not worth the price as you really don’t have time to do much or see anything. I felt like the sand boarding is also unnecessary as you only get to ride down about 2 times and it just cuts so much into the snorkeling and kayaking. We did see some cool fish and the staff was very nice but I also felt like I couldn’t really explore because I was trying to keep up with the tour guide since they were rushing us to get done with the activities. I know they were trying to save time and have us get to everything but maybe it’d be better if we could pick 1 or 2 of the activities out of the 3. Also, they don’t make it super clear in the booking that you have to pay $70 in addition to the $189 price for the national park fee. I didn’t realize this until after I had already booked and some others on the trip didn’t know until we were already at the pickup location. I think there are better options that are cheaper and you would get more bang for your buck, this was just very overpriced!

very good experience

It was a very good experience. The staff were all very nice and patiently taught us how to sandboard, snorkel, and kayak. During sandboarding, one of the staff even helped us wax the board, which was a great touch. While snorkeling, since my friend and I are not good swimmers, one staff member stayed by our side to protect us throughout. I'm really grateful to him; although I don't know his name, I remember he wore an anklet. We would have been at a loss without him. All in all, it was a really nice trip!

Great adventure for all ages

Staff supported booking our last minute trip, when our original one was cancelled due to the weather. The weather wasn't great but the guides were all fantastic. ATV trails were good for all ages, the snorkeling was exceeded pur expecations and the dolphins was a cool experience. We just did the day trip, so didn't stay at the resort, but it seemed very nice.

I recommend it ! Fun to do with friends

It was a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it. The team was really friendly and my friends and I had a great time. What's more, the scenery in the dunes was so beautiful it was like being in a painting!

Moreton Island Adventure

Great board riding down the sand dunes. Trip across Moreton island was an adventure in itself in th 4-wheel dive bus. Snorkeling around the wrecks was amazing with lots of fish, a stingray and coral.

Good trip with awesome crews

I had the Moreton Island trip is Mar 16. Such well planned trip I would say! Shout for amazing crew Nedd and Jo. Nedd was patient and nice from the beginning to end. He introduced the trip into details when on the cruise. And he was there to help me during snorkeling. Without him, I wouldn’t enjoy the Snorkeling at all. Jo was there to help my mom as well even though my mom can’t speak English. Appreciate such wonderful crew team!

Nice day but too much travelling

Nice enough day but lots of time spent on coaches and boats. The day was a bit over organised IMO and so felt constrained rather than freeing

Super fun trip! Did a lot of things in one day and had a great time. Our tour guide Lucky did a great job at driving, he was super friendly and entertaining, as well as very supportive and well informed about the island. Our other guide Josh had a great sense of humor, he was organizing the different groups in an effective but still relaxed and funny way! I would really recommend doing this trip if you’re in Brisbane. It’s a great way to experience all the activities in one day surrounded by breathtaking nature!

Got wrecked mate

My partner and I embarked on a day trip recently, despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions affecting the water. Though the situation posed some risk, the guides prioritized safety admirably. Despite the weather, snorkelling proved to be a fantastic experience. We particularly enjoyed the 4WD journey across the island to reach the dunes, especially being seated beside the skilled driver. Our driver Lakey showcased their impressive driving abilities, especially given the challenges faced by trucks getting stuck. Kudos to all the guides for their professionalism and friendliness amidst what appeared to be a stressful job.

Great for tourism

Amazing island! Good vibes and great activities to do. I would recommend doing snorkeling and kayaking the most and seeing all sorts of coral reefs and fishes out in the sea.

Great day out

We went as a group of 6 and loved it. It was very well organised and all staff were so friendly. Shout out to Matt the bus driver for the fun drive to the desert🙂

It doesn't worth the money

It doesn't worth the money. Way too expensive. You don't get to know the island as the post suggests. You only get to know " the desert" and a tiny part of the beach. They don't take you with the 4wd around the island. The tour it is about 4 hours: 1. You go to the desert. Nothing special. 2. You come back to the beach and do some snorkeling and kayaking on the shore. That is all the tour. If you are a traveller on a budget, this is not for you. I didn't have a bad time, the guide were really professional and nice but TripAdvisor it is ripping people off.

I wasn't allowed to hire anything for my family.

I would literally rate this 0 stars but I can't! My family and I went on 2 trips to Moreton Island (1 in Jan, 1 in Feb) and BOTH TIMES we have been told that NOTHING is available for hire. On 24/02/24, I went over and asked about the kayaks bc there were 25+ kayaks available on the beach but they were for the big groups (that paid $300+ ) so, I waited for the group to go out and my eldest daughter noticed that there was 1 left over and 2 inside the storage. So, I again went over and asked about the spare kayaks but the worker just told me that they were packing up for the day (despite it being 2:15pm) so, I left and heard them laughing at me before going back inside the van and left the kayak on the beach for OVER AN HOUR! So, they basically lied straight to my face. Later, my youngest daughter begged me to ask 1 last time for anything (kayak, flippers, snorkel gear), so, I went over again and asked about the flippers that I could see behind him, but he said, "we don't have any right now" and left. Again, the lying, it's so sad. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed that the ONLY hiring business on the entire beach will not let people hire anything unless they pay hundreds of dollars for a large group. I have also heard other people have similar experiences. I hope 'Sunset Safaris' changes this immediately bc its very disheartening to come all this way and not be able to explore the beautiful Tangalooma wrecks (due to the strong currents, you need some type of devices to help, especially with kids). Even if you only hire to large groups, please state this on your website of signage on the beach so people understand and are not misled. SUNSET SAFARIS, PLEASE FIX THIS.

Good but not worth the money

The activities were fun and they manage to fit a lot into the day, however I don't think the tour is really worth the money. You spend more time on transport than you do on the island and the activities (especially snorkeling and kayaking) are too overcrowded.

Bad call by Sunset Safaris

Terrible weather. They should have cancelled. Snorkeling visibility was terrible. No sand boarding because of weather. Bus transfer bus stunk of cigarette and air conditioner dripped all over people. The driver was late and was blaspheming and swearing. There was insufficient cover for pouring rain on the beach. They had shade cloth not rain proofing. The staff were not very friendly or accommodating considering the weather except Nedd who went out of his way for a few of the freezing wet customers. Very sad that the operator decided the weather was acceptable. They should have rescheduled or refunded. I would not use this operator again. Bad call.

Excellent!

My partner & I did this tour yesterday on our 2nd day travelling from England and thought it was absolutely brilliant. We were collected from Brisbane coach terminal and caught the ferry to Moreton Island. The organisation, set up & clean up etc. from the staff was excellent. Communication from the staff was 5*, we knew exactly what we were doing and when. The lunch was perfect, make your own wraps with plenty of options. Activities were great, my favourite was the snorkelling. We would just like to say a massive Thankyou to the staff that were working yesterday :) Keith, Sam, Big Josh & Simon & others!

Moreton Island trip with brother

It was one of my best trip in Australia. One of the Guide named Neds was perfect. Kayaking, sand boarding and snorkel were fun.

There are many fun activity in moreton island. Especially snorkeling was very very fun!!!! There are many fishes looks delicious and fortunately we could see Turtle as well. Guide staff Bryan, Chris, Nedd help us a lot to enjoy.

Great experience

It was a amazing activities for our family. My daughter, just 5 years old, really enjoyed snorkeling. She said that she was so happy to see a lot of fishes. And our guide, NEDD helped us a lot in the ocean, since we are not good at swimming. I will recommend this package to my friends

You can enjoy amazing shipwreck snorkeling and sandboarding. In the case of snorkeling, even if you can't swim, the staff easily helps you, so you don't have to worry. For lunch, you can get burritos and bottled water that I make. If you want to have an experience you'll never forget, make sure to apply. *Cris is kind Thank you

Good experience

Good trip, comfortable cruise and bus friendly and funny staff. Very well look after all the clients feels so safe in the water. Well equipment and food. Timing is good for each activity not too long and not too short. I would recommend to do this.

one of the best things in brisbane

the arrangement is fluent. all three activities have plenty of time to finish. the instruction is clear and the staff are nice.

Me and my mum went on the get wrecked tour and was accompanied by Josh who was extremely helpfully the entire from start to finish. Couldn’t recommend a better tour guide. Highly recommend

Fun day at Moreton

+ Good trip for someone who likes to try a little bit of everything. I have never snorkelled before and I consider myself a non-swimmer and I felt really secure snorkelling, this was my favourite part! - Pick-up bus from Gold Coast could have more legroom so people taller than 165cm would’t be in pain the whole 2,5hrs that it takes to get to the port.

Moreton island day trip

Sunset Safari! You're the best. Our guides took good care of us. They made sure we felt safe doing the activities and helped us along. I'm not very fit but I had an amazing time. A huge thankyou to Brian who helped me with the snorkeling. These guys know what they are doing and you can be sure you are in good hands. Good communication and good value for money.

Moreton island adventures

The tour was wonderful, the activities provided by the tour were all a great experience and the views we saw was breathtaking. The tour guides were extremely lovely too and always ensured we were having fun as well as safe throughout the day. I would absolutely recommend this tour to both tourists and those who just want to go and have a relaxing time sightseeing at the islands.
