Fascinating and Poignant

The Titanic Experience is definitely worth a visit. All the staff we spoke to were pleasant and friendly. Our Guide on the Discovery Tour was knowledgeable and engaging. She was happy to answer any questions from the group. The tour took is to places (Drawing Room One and other areas of the Titanic Hotel) that we otherwise wouldn't have known about. The indoor Experience was incredibly informative. We liked that it was not just about the ship but also about the wider city of Belfast. Having said that, one of the final elements, with the ship above, all the passenger names and the haunting music was quite emotional. The SS Nomadic is also worth a visit.

Worth a visit

My husband and I visited on a Sunday - so it was pretty busy all the way round. There is a small ride but we skipped it as the waiting time was 25 mins. It’s a really interesting place and I would allow 2 hours for your visit. The only thing I would say, is that £50 for two of us felt a little bit steep.

One museum you won’t forget!

Absolutely amazing! Such an in dept display. Loved the build up to the sinking of the Titanic and its connections to Belfast. Very well thought out and every part blended together nicely. Would definitely recommend.

A lot of interactive features

All the interactive features were the highlight for me, as well as the shipyard ride. What an enjoyable experience!

A must if you are in Belfast

A very good interactive overview of the building and sinking of this famous ship. Would recommend an audio tour. Try to avoid times when cruise ships are in. Very tastefully presented

Awesome Museum!

Thorough, engaging museum. Tells the story of the Titanic alongside the context of Belfast at the time of her construction. The Nomadic was especially fascinating to see in person- a really White Star ship! Go early as it does get crowded mid-day with school trips. And budget 3 hours (or more!)

Not to be missed

Blown away by how much detail there was in this museum. It was absolutely incredible. Obviously it’s very sad in parts, but overall it’s a fantastic experience. Book in advance in case it’s a busy day. We’re glad we booked in advance because a group of 1200 people came in off a cruise ship the day we went and it was super busy

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience, can't praise it enough, you are fully immersed from the start. Found the end quite emotional and sad, but the whole thing is incredible. What a fantastic experience to witness, with the incredible artifacts, stories and holograms, wow, wow, wow!

I would pass to many other things to see in Belfast.

They went through the building of titanic to the finding of the wreckage. There was a small ride through the building showing parts of the build. I was not really impressed but found some of it informative. I would skip this tour because there is much more to see in Belfast

Visiting the Titanic Experience wont give you a sinking feeling.

We were looking forward to visiting during our short holiday in Belfast and were not diappointed. Easy to get to, welcoming staff, reasonably priced and with varied presentation styles, this is a great experience for anyone interested in history. You don't even need to have seen the film! Information is conveted in a variety of ways starting with the history of ship building in Belfast including using holograms and interactive activities to keep everyone entertained. You can even attend the ship's launch! We really enjoyed the Disney style ride through the bowels of the ship and the virtual lift through the various decks. Of course, we all know what eventually happened and the tour does poignant very well. Don't forget to also visit the SS Nomadic: included with your ticket! A must for anyone visiting Belfast.

Fabulous.

It's magnificent. Much better than I anticipated. Lots of history of life in Belfast around the time the Titanic was built, how it came to be built, the ship itself and of course how and why it sank. It took us 2 hours to go round and we didn't visit the ship outside. If you're visiting Belfast this is a must see.

Powerful

An absolutely powerful audio-visual presentation of the Titanic story, from its conception to its unpropitious ending in 1912. Its build and the lead up to its tragic ending is dealt with great care and detail in an extremely sensitive manner, with a conclusive presentation at the end that could leave only the most emotionally hardened soul not reveling in passionate musings. Sadly, such an attraction also draws very large crowds, and on many occasions the presentations and moods are spoilt by large crowds’ intent on preventing or blocking access to many of the exhibits. Shamefully, this was most demonstrated by tour group guides standing in front of an exhibit (or its description) while addressing their group, who acted as a first line of defense against any others wishing to view what was being spoken about. Perhaps this also contributed to the considerable bad behavior of many other visitors who felt it their right to simply barge their way through the throngs with physical force. A devastating story exhibited and spoilt by a dreadful audience.

A brilliant family day out

We visited on 7th June 2024. We had an amazing experience. We opted for the White Star Premium Pass and it was well worth it in our opinion. We started out with the Discovery Tour and we were so lucky to have a small group of only 5. Our tour guide Pip was fantastic... a true wealth of knowledge and background information. He was also brilliant with our two boys aged 6 and 9. He explained everything so well. Then we went into The Titanic Experience. I was really well put together with a great mix of things for all ages. A firm favourite was the cable car and the teddies for the kids to find. We then went across to the Nomadic and enjoyed browsing around and met some very friendly staff members there too. Finally we went back to the gift shop where we were able to redeem our 20 pound voucher and get our souvineer gifts. The boys got a well stocked activity pack which they were delighted with. It really is a fantastic day out for all the family.

Brilliant

An incredibly well thought through and informative exhibition. Everything you need to know and more. Staff are incredibly service orientated. Had lunch in the Pantry and it was super efficient, well organised, great food and very friendly and helpful. Some restaurants could learn a lot from them. Great Gluten Free choices on the menu too. Highly recommend.

An excellent museum of the Titanic

This museum is very well done. We've seen artifacts from the Titanic before when the exhibits have toured, but this was a different perspective. A look at it as it was being built and how it was furnished. Also a look at Belfast at that time and the very busy shipyard and the jobs. Very sobering to see names and sailing class of those who perished.

Titanic

We went to this ,it absolutely brilliant a must do experience when visiting Belfast. Do the tour is a must . A really enjoyable and fascinating experience.

Excellent installation but budget 2 hours minimum

A really amazing experience from the history of Belfast to ship building, then the building of the Titanic. A short ride I the middle is really fun. The story goes through the White Star luxury and the sailing, loss of lives, through to the finding of this amazing ship. Was disappointed that we could not walk out over the old shipping slips as that would have been nice. The SS Nomadic is nice to see and is really low class compared to the opulence of the Titanic. Would have been nice to have a smaller section on the sister ship the Olympic there too. Overall a worthwhile attraction. You can get food there before or after and it is about 20 min walk to the centre of Belfast along the river which is nice to do if not too windy.

Titanic Museum- Belfast. A masterpiece in storytelling.

This museum is quite possibly the most well-designed that I have visited. It is packed to the rafters with relevant and interesting information, to read, to watch and to listen to. One of the guides, Pip, was particularly interesting explaining things in great detail and bringing his related personal stories alive too. I had a tear in my eye listening to how his own ancestors had been involved in building the ship. The enormity of this task, from its inception to the physical build was quite incredible and this museum celebrates the genius of those that were involved. Many have seen Cameron’s fictionalised movie, but the stark reality of the tragedy is much better realised in this wonderful museum. I heartily recommend it.

An emotional wreck

Perhaps the best experience of our recent tour of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The Titanic museum is a ‘tour de force’ of a museum. Tracing the humble beginnings of hard working people who endured conditions we wouldn’t tolerate today to produce an engineering triumph. A true exploration from the cradle to the grave of this Titan. On a personal level I found the Drawing Office segment rather poignant as two of my uncles were draftsmen and my Mum a tracer in the Drawing Office of Aveling-Barford - once a heavy engineering manufacturer but sadly now no more. But what really floored me was thinking about my grandfather who had the unenviable task of being chief stoker on many warships during the First World War and beyond. One section of the museum highlighted the decks in rising affluence - the Engine Room being the lowest of the low. A bit of light relief explored the luxury and ambiance of those who could afford it. This museum truly takes you on a journey and also features a huge wall listing the names of the survivors and those who perished. The culmination of the tour shows a scale model of the Titanic with the impression that she is lying at peace on the floor of the ocean. I found the whole experience so emotional and a restorative cup of cappuccino and a cookie in the cafe rounded off this fabulous visit.

Well worth a visit

Really really good, thought provoking, I got very emotional at the end with all the names on the wall that didn’t make it.

Really well done museum! Worth the admission and very interesting. I recommend going early to avoid the crowds.

World class exhibition

This is a fantastic exhibition which exceeded our expectations. The architecture is extraordinary and gives a feeling of excitement even before the tour starts. Great care has been taken to set the scene of an industrial Belfast and its hard-working people. Historical photos are merged with video to bring animation to the exhibits alongside carefully crafted models. There are room set-ups of the different cabin levels and dinner services used. The gondola ride was fun if rather short. The most emotional part was the list of deceased, over 1500 of them, their names covering a huge wall. Then visitors enter the last scene, showing the wreck of the ship moving above a glass ocean floor together with poignant fiddle music. Special thanks to Connor, standing at the top of the stairs, who answered our most searching questions very knowledgeably. At times it was crowded and the numbering of exhibits could be clearer. We didn’t bother with headphones - everything is clearly described as long as visitors have a good command of English. The cafe and restaurant are crowded, food unexceptional and it was difficult to find a seat. Overall, an excellent exhibition which did justice to a famous and tragic ship.

Goliath

The museum is central to the Docks and it was a great place to spend a few hours. The museum was much more than the Titantic and showcased the ship building that took place.....you can see the huge H and W cranes from the museum. The end of the tour was more reflective and honoured those lost on the fateful night. Worth a look.

Now My Heart Will Go On and On and On

Prior to visiting the Titanic exhibition I knew a little bit abut the history of the "unsinkable ship". I knew it was at the bottom of the ocean and had hit an iceberg and that the last port it called at was at Queenstown (now called Cobh) which is not far from Cork. I've also seen the movie "Titanic" and quite frankly I don't know why Rose could not have moved across a bit to let Jack get on the floating debris with her but then we would not have the tragic love story (!) Whilst in Belfast I decided to pay a visit to the Titanic exhibition and I am very glad I did. On the journey you get to find out about the terrible working conditions that the people involved in the construction of this mighty ship endured. Health & Safety was not a factor back in the day! As well as this you also get to learn about the journey the ship took and what it was like for people in the different classes of the boat. Finally there is the chapter of accidents that led to the ship hitting the iceberg and the terrible things that happened afterwards where two thirds of the people on the ship died. At the end of the exhibition there is a place where you can recreate that famous moment in the movie. I was on my own so had no desire to stand there with my arms outstretched. There is a very good gift shop with plenty of different souvenirs to be purchased relating to Harland & Wolff, The White Star Line and the ship itself. Afterwards make sure you head over to see the SS Nomadic which is the last remaining ship belonging to the White Star Line still in existence. Very educational and informative.

Great morning experience

Very informative and interesting, worth the price and the walk, you can also get the sightseeing bus that stops outside too. Takes about 1-2 hours to walk round the entire museum as well as the normadic ship depending.

Brilliant museum and experience

We had bought the White Star VIP experience which took in the discovery tour, the titanic museum and Normadic. What we didn’t realise was we got £10 off the restaurant or gift shop as part of the price and a free gift. We felt it was really good value for money. Our discovery tour guide was Peter and he was fantastic, thoroughly engaging, full of knowledge, and had a genuine interest and connection with the titanic, and afterwards he gave us great tips on the Belfast nightlife. Definately a Belfast must do!

Very informative and interesting experience. We were there first two hours! Great history of industry and commerce in Belfast, interesting interactive exhibits. Definitely worth spending the time to view this exhibition

Fantastic! Loved every minute.

What a fantastic place! Impressive from start to finish. The place is beautifully designed and feels atmospheric as soon as you enter. The staff were fabulous and very welcoming. Our tour guide was just excellent. She knew her stuff and was able to answer any of our questions, without hesitation. She was friendly and worked hard to ensure we all enjoyed each aspect of our tour. We took the VIP tour which also gave us a £10 each, to spend in the shop/restaurants on site. We were also given a free gift each and a children’s pack. This made the price even more reasonable. The tour took us across into the Titanic Hotel, up to the sixth floor to view the memorial/scenery and into the experience. It also took us onto The Nomadic, outside. The experience section was magnificently designed and the final section, near the staircase, with the moving model and footage of the wreck below, was exceptionally moving. Each area was very clear, informative and thoughtfully created to give the visitor a real feel of each section. I came away having seen a new side to parts of the events, and having gained a more personal perspective. We were there for three hours and never felt bored or unsatisfied. I would fully recommend this for an afternoon out.

Great tour, fascinating exhibition and wonderfully helpful staff.

This is an amazing place. Not a museum, but a memorial to all those who lost their lives on the Titanic, and a reminder of all the people involved in building her. The tour was fantastic - our guide, Rob, was amazing - telling us one fascinating story after another. Two of us on the tour were struggling with our walking that day, so he found places for us to sit and rest wherever he could. When we later went round the exhibition centre (which is also amazing), he found us, and pointed some extra things out to us. I had had to give in and borrow a wheelchair by then, and the staff were extremely proactive in offering me help. There were lifts everywhere, and they even managed (with quite a bit of effort on their part) to manoeuvre me, wheelchair and all, into a specially adapted wheelchair car, so I could go on the cable car experience. I didn't feel I missed anything at all by having to be in the chair. We had lunch at the Galley Cafe, and it was very tasty. Our White Star passes meant that we had £10 each off our meals.

Fantastic

Probably one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. Really immersive and informative, but engaging at the same time. Loved the mini ‘ride’ in the middle. My second time going and I wouldn’t hesitate going a third time. If you like history/engineering/local history this is definitely for you!

White star tour, worth the extra $$

We did the white star tour and were so glad we did, so much we learned about the titanic, went across the road to the hotel sat in the meeting room etc. our guide pip? Was outstanding. Highly recommend appending a little bit more $ to do this tour prior to entering the museum.

Awesome immersive experience

Absolutely brilliant experience. We went early in day and unlike other reviews found the crowd and ticketing worked fine. Such an immersive experience and a homage to the people who built the titanic whilst also very respectful to those whose lives were lost…And our conversation with Pip one of the guides was just the perfect way to round out our experience - make sure you take the time to experience it fully.

Crap

Never got they were too busy even though I had booked for a morning tour a lady said that they were tooooo busy and could fit us in at 2.30 I said that was no good because it was my daughter hen party and we had something booked for 2.00

Titanic museum & Belfast in general are must visit places

As a titanic fanatic this place was just perfect. We did the guided tour then spent 3 hours walking round the gallery. Melissa, our guide, was very fun and she told the story well. She was also very passionate about Belfast in general, and could she sold it to us really well! It’s a must visit museum, you just can’t comprehend what happened but this place defo brings it to life. To walk where the ship built, to see real artefacts recovered from the wreck and here the real stories from survivors is truly a wonderful but also sad and solemn experience

A Must Experience

An exceptional experience. The museum is incredibly well put together and thorough. Highly recommend the White Star Pass for the additional tour. SS Nomadic is also included but there is not much there, couldn't even go on deck. Only real negatives are the crowds which will be unavoidable. Best recommendation is to get there as soon as they open, that way you can lead the way through the museum and the crowds will be behind you. Also is a little dark in some areas that makes it difficult to read with old eyes. Try to go through the museum in its entirety before or after your scheduled tour, it is a bit challenging to leave and then restart where you left off. Also spoils some of the surprises as you rush to exit for the tour. Staff are all great including management. Found them not only to be informative but incredibly helpful to the point of personally guiding you to where you were asking directions for. This happened twice!

Dream fulfilled

The look on my grand daughter's face. We enjoyed the whole experience. She graduated from High School last Saturday. She choose Belfast for her trip. Just to come and she this.

A titanic exhibition

This exhibition seems expensive at first but after 4 hours of visit you come away appreciating how the titanic was built and who the passengers were. There is a lot of information to read or listen to but you do not need the audio guides.

Sad story well done

The Titanic exhibit was very well done. It is a sad story but was told with grace and dignity. We would definitely do it again when in Belfast.

Educational and very interesting

The story of the Titanic was really brought to life. It was very informative and presented in a way that kept our interest right up to the enquiry about who was to blame for the tragedy.

First time to Belfast , after seeing the Liverpool titanic museum we decided we had to see the real one ! It was fantastic, really informative , we did the self guided tour and learned an awful lot Only 1 regret , we should have asked for the audio , didn’t know what it was before hand not really offered to us and regret it as I thing there was probably more we didn’t learn Great experience

Did not meet the hype

I was not blown away like so many people. I found it confusing from the start talking about the making of linen. I wish there would have been a layout of how they were presenting this exhibit. I also wanted more of an experience and not just reading boards. I really wanted to like this and it really fell flat for me. Also, we just showed up without pre purchasing online tickets because it showed it wasn’t busy. The young man at the ticket window told us the next available time slot was 3:20 (we arrived at 2:10) but we were there so we purchased a ticket and sat and waited outside. I checked online again and there were several time slots before 3:20 available. Not impressed with this at all.

Great Experience!

Great audio visual displays of the town of Belfast and the history of shipmaking and especially the building of the Titanic. Cool fun interactive activities for all ages. The highlight was watching real footage of finding the sunken Titanic. Don't miss this!

Very emotional experience . . .

It's so sad when you understand that this tragedy could have been so easily avoided. I think the exhibits, narration, acoustics and layout of this experience are all very well executed and I found the whole thing pretty amazing. Its only a shame that there isn't some kind of 'ignorance' test at the door to filter out some of the rude & stupid visitors they let in !!!

Beautiful building with comprehensive info on both the building and sailing of the Titanic. Interactive and compassionate about the many souls lost in this disaster.
