Amazing experience

Such an important tour with so much history. Our driver was so knowledgeable & such a great tour guide who highlighted everything we needed to know

Disappointing

Disappointing and expensive. It was supposed to be a two hour tour but was told at the start it would be an hour and a half but lasted only an hour. There were a few interesting things to see but overall the tour lacked depth and wasn’t worth the cost.

Brennan was an excellent tour guide. We were very impressed and amazed at the history here in Belfast. He was very accommodating for my son that uses a wheelchair and insisted on putting my son in the front with him. My son truly enjoyed the experience

Even though Brendan is the second funniest person in Northern Ireland currently, I’m leaving today. Good banter will definitely recommend people to request him

Moving experience to learn of The Troubles.

In a word — Brendan. He was extremely funny, knowledgeable and engaging. He involved us in conversation so we felt comfortable asking tons of questions, which he answered authentically from a first-hand perspective. He humanized the history of The Troubles and brought passion and empathy when describing these difficult situations. We got to sign the Peace Wall, which I enjoyed.

Very informative & worthwhile

Our driver and guide Sean MC did a fantastic job of explaining the history of the conflict during the different stops and allowed us to gain a better understanding of the divisions that still exist in the Northern Irish society today. He is a very polite and knowledgeable guide. We appreciated the fact that he spoke very openly and directly about the various topics and that he took enough time to answer our questions. Seeing Belfast from this perspective is a must when visiting the city.

Trouble-ing

My guide was excellent. A product of The Troubles era, he gave an objective, in depth details as to life then and now.

Provocative and Thoughtful

Took the 9am tour with our lovely driver Sean Mac and have to say it was absolutely the best way to find out about Belfast's political history from someone who grew up here. Having a very limited prior knowledge myself and my partner felt we left the trip so much better informed and we both felt quite emotional aswell. We were encouraged to ask any questions and there were plenty opportunities to take photographs, if you wanted to. I cant say I enjoyed the tour as I feel that's insensitive to the history but it was worth every penny and Sean Mac was a great character who arrived prompt and was very open and honest with us not sugar coating anything or diluting it down for tourists which I really appreciated. Fully recommend this tour to all visiting Belfast, one to make you think, empathise, appreciate and hopeful that history will not repeat. Lovely to have met you Sean Mac thank you for an excellent tour. All the best Debbie and James

Well worth it guided cab tour

Excellent Political/Historical Tour of Belfast

Excellent tour, very knowledgeable driver of the history of the political struggles going back even before WW1. Busting all the main areas of Belfast. The two hours went very quickly.

An eye-opening trip around inner city Belfast

An eye-opening trip around inner city Belfast with our expert guide Sean. I was shocked to see that the walls and gates that separate the Protestant and Catholic communities are still in place, and was equally shocked to learn that the walls have grown in height and length since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. As our guide put it “we live in peace, because we are segregated”…

"The Troubles" Tour with Brandon

Took this tour with Brandon and was extremely pleased with the tour. He hit all of the spots we wanted to see and gave us a very fair description of "the Troubles" from both sides. (At one point he had me guess which faction he was raised in during this time and I guessed wrong!) I highly recommend the tour and especially Brandon as you guide. He is well informed on the topic since he lived it and will make a few cracks too. The highlight of our stay in Belfast.

Informative

Our driver was Called Brendan he was very chatty and informative. The tour was good but I think it’s over priced , I thought we would have seen a lot more than we did . He knew his stuff though and we enjoyed all the crac off him , maybe a walking tour would have been the way to go and less than half the price!

The amazing story of politics , it is live today with barbed fencing, 6 mtr, High Walls , murals and locals' body language. Not right, provided a White Cab, Not Black. For understanding of Asians, the commentary needs to be little modified

Brian did an amazing job giving us the history and showing us the sights as he spoke. I feel I have a much better understand now of the “troubles”. I highly recommend!

Our driver was awesome. He lived thrrough the troubles and had fascinating insight into the issue. He was able to do a deeper dive and reveal nuances well beyond the typical narratives generally heard that gloss over many of the underlying issues.

Belfast Tour

Tommy gave us a great tour. So much information and scenery. He picked us up from our cruise port. We visited the Peace wall and many more murals. Quite an eye opening day!

Educational

We wanted to learn a bit about the political and religious strife that has been an issue between Ireland and the Brits for a long time. The tour was successful in helping us understand that as well as see the murals that have been created to memorialize the strife. The Peace wall was extraordinary and we did not even know that existed to this day. If you are coming in via Cruise ship, they will pick you up at the dock for about 15 pounds each way.

Bad experience

The trip was not billed as political. It was said to be an historical trip of Belfast. Not at all. I feel cheated out of the money we spent for this tour. Do not book if you interpret the spin as we did. Total waste of money.

Excellent Excursion

Our driver was extremely knowledgeable and patiently answered all questions. This was our top excursion for the whole cruise. Would recommend this tour!

Our guide was Tom, who grow up during this time. He was very knowable and able to explain the whys. He was prepared with marker so we could sign the Peace Wall. Great experience and would do it again.

An important, but sad part of history presented in a poorly woven narrative

Sean was a nice man, but we did not feel that he had deep expert knowledge and for this reason we do not feel it was worth the money we paid. We were given a decent introduction to the situation for 1 hour and 45 minutes (not 2 hours). We sat in the car for long stretches of time (as much 5 to 7 minutes), staring at murals with very basic information about them, followed by total silence (for about 5 minutes at a time). He would often tell us that he did not know what certain murals were about, and he often did not know who certain people were in them. What he did have to share was interesting, but he needs to weave a more coherent and cogent narrative. The information presented felt a bit discombobulated. He was not an engaging story-teller. Overall, we received a foundation of the history by primarily driving through two streets/neighborhoods: Shankill and Falls Rd. For a private tour, we expected to have a richer and more engaging experience. When he did talk, it was without depth. We felt as though he was not really interested in giving a tour. And, when we asked questions the responses were limited. I think if we were to remove the long stretches of sitting in silence in one place, the tour could have easily been 60-75 min.

Worth Seeing

We were picked up at the. Raise terminal and our driver, Sean, was waiting there for us. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared with us the history of The Troubles. We visited many of the walls and even a memorial garden. I would very much recommend this tour, Sean was great.

Knowledgeable and entertaining

Tommy was our guide. He was knowledge and entertaining. Highly recommended. We went to areas of real interest that we wouldn't have gone in a self guided tour. Learnt alot about Belfast. Thanks Tommy, loved it 👍

Seeing the peace wall, visiting the memorials and murals and hearing details about the 'Troubles' - a very interesting couple of hours and a must when visiting Belfast!

For anyone wanting to know more about Belfast and the political story which has led to the Good Friday agreement this tour is a must. The guide was informative and didn't shy away from any questions we asked and the difficult times Belfast has had to endure. The tour guide was excellent.

Excellent Tour of Belfast

My sister-in-law and I were in Belfast for the day and decided to book a tour last minute. We were lucky enough to have the incredibly knowledgeable Tommy as our guide and we had an amazing experience. Having little prior knowledge of The Troubles and this part of Belfast’ history, Tommy provided a wealth of extensive and engaging knowledge while offering insight into his own personal experiences growing up while all of this was occurring. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who want the opportunity to explore a little more of this wonderful city. Special thank you to Tommy for a wonderful experience!
