Excellent Tour

Great tour guide! She was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We walked the city and she told us history and stories of the past. So glad I did this tour because we got away from the main areas and saw "the real Bath". The Roman Baths are also very interesting to see.

Definitely worth a visit

Val was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of interesting facts. Made the tour interesting and it was great to learn about Bath's history. Lovely that Val and the others have volunteered to do this freely. We definitely would have tipped them. Thoroughly enjoyed the day - even though we had to deal with heavy rain for the first 5 minutes! I would definitely recommend this tour to all who visit Bath! We had a great stay.

Great tour / great guide

Save your money. Free tour is better quality.

Hate to complain but this is a warning for others. The guide we had was a student doing this as a means to pay for her student debt. It was obvious she was not native to the area and didn’t have a passion for the incredible history of Bath. She has no idea what she is talking about if you can hear her soft voice. The points of interest are unfortunately, not interesting. When questioned about other points of interest, I was surprised to hear, “I don’t know.” The worst part…prior to our tour we learned that the Town of Bath offers FREE tours every two hours that have knowledgeable guides. I wish someone had told me.

Excellent Walking Tour

I was on a Country Walker's tour of the Cotswolds and was delighted Bath was included. The Viator guide was very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I saw far more of Bath and got good background information. The self-guided tour of the Roman Baths which was included on the tour was also excellent, allowing as much time as I wanted to linger, read descriptions of displays, photograph and just look.

Facinating

I initialy thought the cost rather high but since I last visited over 40 years ago they have made a major investment.The audio guide allows you to listen to as much as you wish and the holographic displays are ingenious.I spent over 2 hours in this experience which I felt was very good value for money. However if travelling with children who are generally more interested in what's in the next room rather than the one they are in,it would seem to be expensive.I think it's better for adults only.

Great tour/highlights of Bath

Dan, our tour guide, was excellent! Very personable and knowledgeable about the city and history of Bath. Fun way to experience the highlights of Bath on foot. Would recommend!

Great Idea for the First Day in Bath

By taking the walking tour we were given a good overview of the old city of Bath and some of its highlights. I certainly enjoyed the beautiful old buildings. I was then able to orientate myself for the rest of my visit. It also made it easy to enter the Roman Baths as they were part of the tour and we did not have to wait in line. Gerry. Winnipeg, Canada

Great walk around the highlights of the city of Bath.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. However we had problems hearing at times the city was full of rugby fans for the big match that afternoon.

Wonderful Roman Bath Tour Experience

What a wonderful tour! The history of the Roman baths is amazing and the audio tour does a great job of giving you relevant information. This is a wonder for perfect pictures. Bath is a beautiful place and we will be back.

City tour & Roman baths

My family have been visiting us from the USA, and they wanted to come to Bath for a few days. We had booked a few things to do whilst in Bath and this was one of them. The Roman Baths and the tour of Bath. The tour was very good, but the young lady was very nervous to start with but then found her confidence and was very informative and very pleasant. However she must beware of her audience at all times. The Roman baths were very good but again although they cater for the disabled the Roman baths on the ground floor is very uneven and I would say not suitable for wheelchairs. Due to the age of the baths there is very little that can be done. My husband was unable to go around the alcoves because of the floor. On the whole very good and worth having a tour of city and the Roman baths.

Just Ok

Our guide was a young college student that did her very best. She came on time and guided us to all the attractions that were scheduled and gave us the basic information. The tour was just OK

Amazing day in Bath

As solo traveler this time I hit the jackpot with choosing Footprints Tours. Their travel guide Maya was just amazingly good at her job, managed to tell us the story of the city and also kept us smiling all the time with her amazing smile and positivity. She made my day, and believe the rest of the group which she guided through the city. Definitely will choose Footprints Tours again.

Wonderful experience

We loved this walking tour and would have missed out on so many things. We truly think that without this tour our experience in bath wouldn’t have been this great. Dan, our guide, was really nice, knowledgable and funny. We very much recommend the tour. We also went to the roman baths afterwards which was truly impressive. We had a very amazing time in bath.

Brilliant Baths

Discovering exactly how big the baths were and how they worked was particularly interesting. The tour was also very informative and the young guide gave a very good insight into everything that we saw.

Great Tour

Dan was our tour guide. Very knowledgable, and entertaining. We covered a lot of ground in a two hour tour. I highly recommend this tour, and make sure you see the interior of the Roman baths. It was a fine set of exhibits, with a free audio guide.

Bath Bomb

Our guide lacked enthusiasm. We saw several free walking tours offered throughout the day that seemed very engaging. We wish we would have chosen one of those.

Tour guide was pleasant but not very knowledgeable. Would have been better to take a free tour offered by the mayor’s office. In the Circus, we asked which buildings had been damaged in bombings and she said, “None; they’re all still here.” :-/

Wonderful tour of Bath

Our guide Dan was wonderful, very knowledgeable and had good energy. We learnt a lot of cool facts about Bath and really got a sense of the past and present of the city of Bath. Would highly recommend.

Late Guide

Our guide was late, only about 5 minutes but it threw off the vibe/other ppl were no shows (maybe they couldn't find the group since she was late) and after 20 minutes into the tour - it was fine, but we got off to a rocky start as she was distracted at first. They should not start the tour where all other tours are starting -it's too congested and hard to know which tour you belong with. Communication was via WhatsAp but some ppl might not have that Ap (?)

Excellent tour of Bath

Am always amazed that such artifacts remain in such a good condition, even as more recent additions have been made. This peak into the past is well presented and definitely worth a visit

This was a great walking tour of all the main sights in Bath. We had a knowledgeable, interesting young woman as tour guide who really knew her English history and Bath history.

Amazing tour of the city

Amazing tour of the city. Sinclaire was knowledgeable and had some interesting facts. If you opt for the Roman Bath tour, its a self guided audio tour. An historic and interesting place to visit. I would highly recommend it.

Bath a must do

From start to finish this was a great 3 hours nearly 2 hours seeing Bath on foot, finding out facts. Then entry to the Roman Baths. Wow, even if History isn't your thing this is a must visit in Bath.

Waste of two precious hours in this wonderful city!

I really do hate to give a bad review however there is simply no way around it! Unfortunately our guide was extremely sparse with any history or details. Honestly, it was dumbfounding, especially in a city with SO much history, architecture, culture and famous historical, literary, and political figures!!

Scam tour

The tour leader did not show up. There was no tour. I suspect this was a scam. We asked every group in the meeting area and they were all free tours. Choose those instead if you go.

Overpriced and overcrowded

Having not visited on our last trip we decided to book tickets. The weather was poor, drizzle to raining. We had booked for 1500-1515 and arrived five minutes early, we had to stand in the rain until 1500. It looks like 160 tickets are available for each fifteen minutes. A one way system was in force, there are toilets at the beginning and the end but you are not allowed to move against the flow. The gallery section was not too bad as it is outside and very spacious but once inside everyone is herded together, making it impossible to see some exhibits. One room was so full we were starting to get pushed together, with the lack of ventilation. A very strong perfume triggered my allergy and we skipped the room. After an hour we were spewed out into the shop, which is the exit. Apparently there were character actors present but we didn't see any. I have visited many Roman sites including a city, an amphitheatre and several villages in Tunisia, as well as the sites in Chester. We are members of the National Trust and visit regularly their properties. The Roman Baths are run by the local council and feel as if they are a very good cash cow, at £29/adult brings in £4,640 every fifteen minutes on admission alone. Reducing the numbers by half would improve the visitors experience but until then, give this one a miss.

Family walking tour of Bath

Our guide, Dan, was excellent! He shared the right amount of history and storytelling- with sharp wit. Kept the group together (all ages and walking ability) and kept our skeptical teenager interested! Highly recommend!
