Fun time with a beautiful view

Great cooking class! Meet some fun people as well. Class is also good for single travelers who would love to learn about different cultures. The tour of the local food market, the view over the plaza and the wine and food we made was wonderful!

Good Times, Good Food

Chef kept everyone engaged with a great sense of humor. His sous chef and translator was an excellent tour guide of the market and ensured at all times that everyone was happy. Tapas history was informative and entertaining.

Fun time cooking Spanish food

We had a great time on this tour, first visiting the local market, then sampling and cooking a range of dishes including paella. It would be fair to say that we've never really appreciated paella but it turns out we've never had a proper one before! This was really good.... The whole group got to participate and everyone will have left well-fed and with a greater appreciation of Spanish food.

Family Market and Cooking Experience

Amazing day! Such a fun learning experience!! We were a group of six ranging in age from 24 to 73 and everyone had a wonderful time. Jaime was a great guide and Alfredo was an excellent historian, chef and teacher. Traditional Spanish tapas, paella and dessert. We recommend this experience highly. You won’t be disappointed.

I can make paella now!

I have yet to go to a cooking class in my travels that I didn't love; this one was no exception. Horea is obviously a very skilled chef, but he might be an even better teacher! We loved the tour he took us on at La Boqueria, and he very helpfully pointed out what kinds of goods from the market we would and would not be able to return home with. The actual cooking class was extremely well-organized and he made sure to include everyone equally in prepping our meal; even less experienced cooks (like a 10 year-old boy that was with us) were able to fully participate and have fun. It didn't hurt that the food ended up being delicious and the wine was constantly flowing! I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone!

Excellent food!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Barcelona. The trip to the Boqueria was fun, and the market was full of fresh fish, produce, and other delicious treats. It’s the best place for ingredients (though we didn’t purchase any for our meal since our host already had everything ready for us). We then went to our host’s home to have tapas, learn about the food and culture, and cook a Spanish omelette, Catalan crème for dessert, and fish paella for our main course. The food was among the best we’d had in Barcelona! Superb. And we had a small and friendly group too. Highly recommend!

A Spanish feast awaits …

A fantastic evening touring the Boqueria Market with Jamie and culminating in a cooking experience where you eat the fruits of your labours! Cooking at a pace where the food absorbs all the flavours and you can spend time with each other; enjoying the company. Lots of brilliant tips and friendly guidance from Alfredo - along with a few glass of wine and a lot of laughter! A brilliant evening, thank you … remember ‘low fire’ 😁

Lots of fun while learning to make a local dish

Every second of this was beyond expectations. Our chef was funny and engaging, the space we were in was beautiful, the food we made was great, and the tour of the market was very interesting. This was an amazing experience!

Great experience and good cooking tips

Was only in Barcelona for two full days and wanted to make the most of it. Was super happy to see the market, Las Ramblas, and learn what I’ve been doing wrong with paella all in one awesome experience!

Wonderful experience

Fantastic afternoon that started with exploring La Boqueria and cooking a delicious meal as a small group. The chef was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious!

We had a great time learning about cooking the local style of food. The market visit and class was full of culture and customs. We really enjoyed the class.

Great Chef, Food and Friends!

My daughter and I signed up for the Mediterranean Cooking class in Barcelona and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our chef-teacher, Juan, was kind, patient, funny and extremely talented in the culinary arts. We were made to feel welcome and at home in an amazing cooking (and eating!) space. We both learned so much and have greater confidence in the kitchen to try new things. In addition to great teaching, cooking and eating, our fellow “students” were a delight and made the evening one of the most memorable of our entire trip. We highly recommend Juan and this class! Don’t miss this cooking class!

It was 4 hours and not boring for a second. Content, presentation, explanation of cultural influence was amazing and informative. Food was delicious. Very interactive; we were all involved in preparing our courses. Absolutely would recommend this to anyone. Very organized. Looking forward to receiving the recipes to be able to repeat these delicious courses at home. Very rewarding interaction with the other participants which will lead to lasting friendships. We all sat down afterwards and ate together. Thank you Juan and his assistant Alicia-and I know I got her name wrong,

Highly Recommend!

This class was so much fun! My husband and I took this class, and there were 10 additional people in the group. We really did not know what to expect, but had such a great time. The people in our group were super fun and friendly, and Juan is a great host and facilitator. He did a great job of making everyone feel included and involved, and was very funny. The kitchen/home that we were in was really cute. If you are not familiar with the area, I do recommend giving yourself a little extra time to find it. I had forgotten to share that I am vegetarian, when I signed up for the class, but it worked out really well, as several of the dishes were vegetarian anyway, and there was another woman in the group who had registered as vegetarian, so a veggie paella was planned. It was really fun chatting with others in the group, and hearing about their travel experiences. My only recommendation would be to maybe have everyone introduce themselves at the very beginning, and say a bit about themselves, just to get quieter folks chatting more at the beginning. Overall, this was an excellent and unique experience, that I highly recommended! Thank you Juan!

Highlight of Barcelona!

My wife and I had a great time in this class! The chef and his assistant did a great job of explaining how to make each dish. I loved that everyone got to chop and stir along with the cook. The market tour was amazing. I would have been to intimidated by the whole experience but with our guide it was fun to see what the market had to offer. Generous amounts of wine helped too!

Great time, great chefs, great food!

Loved the trip to the market (get ready to climb a few flights of stairs, twice!). The cooking was so well explained, Joria and Audis were fantastic and easy to follow. Can’t wait for the recipes!

Excellent honeymoon

This cooking class was one of our events on our spain honeymoon. Fantastic experience would do again

Super class! Super food! Super teachers!

After a tour of the main market, we returned to the class kitchen for appetizers and samples of many good foods. We learned and cooked. The instructor and his assistant were excellent. We prepared the seafood for the paella, clams, mussels, prawns, squid. We used the authentic paella pans, learning how to properly stir and mix the paella for maximum taste! We also made a Spanish tortilla (potato and egg omelet). And creme Catalan. And played with a blowtorch to melt the sugar on top. The sessions were wonderfully hands on, plenty of water and wine flowed! But not too much wine...I can still remember things a day later! THANK YOU! FANTASTIC TIME! :-)

Paella and tapa cooking class

Great family activity with our 2 grown sons who love to cook. Brief market tour before the cooking begins. Everyone participates. Delicious tapas and paella. Wine or beer included. When done, group meal. Highly recommend.

Great experience overall! The class was well prepared and thought out. It was a mixture of learning , fun, interesting conversation, and actually doing some cooking. The pace of the class is very good so everyone gets engaged

Mediterranean Cooking Class

We so enjoyed the Mediterranean Cooking Class. Juan was very interesting and made the class so much fun. I learned so much and enjoyed tons of excellent food. If in Spain again I would definitely take a class with him again.

So fun and so delicious

Our family of six thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class. Horea the chef was fun, engaging and taught us much about Spanish cooking. Most importantly, our multiple culinary restrictions were brilliantly dealt with and we never felt that our experience was diminished due to the many items we cannot eat. An experience everyone in our group loved (ages 15-65) and one we would definitely do again if we found ourselves back in Barcelona.

Enjoyable class.

Nice location and class facility. Clean and welcoming. Chef was very nice. The trip to the market was fun. On our return the tapas we sampled were excellent! Wine flowed. The reason I downgraded the rating was because we were not given any recipes. We were told these would be emailed but they haven’t been which is echoed by other previous class participants. The main thing we made was a potato tortilla and paella. Both were very average to say the least in taste. Sorry but the paella should have been the priority of the whole event and it was actually a very poor paella.

His heat recommendation

Juan was an excellent chef and guide. He led our small group on a tour of La Boqueria and explained the highlights of food choices. He had delicious tapas already prepared when we returned and he explained how they represented different regions of Spain. Then we all cooked a delicious meal including paella and tortilla. The group was fun; we all drank Spanish wine and had a great time!

Great way to spend an afternoon

Thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class and Mercat Boqueria tour. Juan was very informative and gave excellent tips. The tapas and paella were delicious and I can’t wait to introduce my family to the new dishes. Am still waiting for the promised recipes to be emailed. Hope they didn’t inadvertently forget.

Local learning, fun, cooking and eating!

So much fun and experience packed into a short amount of time. Juan was an excellent host, teacher, and chef. The people we shared the experience with were delightful! Shout out to Washington DC, the other, Washington, and Australia gulf coast. Buen viaje!

A trip highlight.

Four of us throughly enjoyed this experience. Learned tips that will hep us improve our home recipes. Many laughs and chef made sure everyone was included and participated at their level of comfort.

AMAZING - a must try for Barcelona

Sergi and Juan were amazing cooks and amazing tour guides. The class and tour of the market were amazing. They also taught us about the food and cultural significance which was priceless. I would recommend this class to everyone visiting Barcelona. Lastly the cooking suite was beautiful.

Fun, funny and great food.

Sergio and Juan were fantastic. Lot of humour, lots of tips and delicious food. The course was interesting for adults and out teenagers. There was a great blend of stories and cooking.

This was the best part of our trip to Spain

This was easily the best thing we did the entire eight days we were in Spain. The trip started out with an open air market, shopping trip, and we went back to the fully air-conditioned beautiful loft for the cooking class. There were parents, kids, couples, and it was a small group of only eight people, the chef was amazing. We made paella, Catalan, cream, frittata, sat down with some very nice wine, and enjoyed speaking to people from around the world over dinner. This is the one thing you should absolutely do in Barcelona if you can. Thank you so much for being our host my boyfriend, and I Matt very much enjoyed ourselves.

An unforgettable, intimate and interactive experience in Barcelona!

I absolutely adored this experience during my time in Barcelona! There are many things you can do in this beautiful city, but I highly recommend spending some of your time by doing this very fun and interactive cooking class. Alfredo, the owner and chef, was super funny and taught us a lot about Catalonian and Spanish cuisine. It was one of the highlights of my trip!

Blown away by this excellent experience!

My best friend and I LOVED this cooking class. We booked it to immerse ourselves into the culture of Barcelona and this class did just that. Alfredo was absolutely amazing and the class was so interactive! If you are looking for rich history and amazing food, this class is for you!

Fantastic cooking experience

Our chef was wonderful and we loved the market! We cooked a traditional Spanish meal complete with tapas, Spanish omelette, paella and custard.
