Penedes Wine & Cava Tasting & 4WD Vineyards Tour from Barcelona

Wonderful all round experience!!

Knowledgeable guides at both wineries, both were obviously very passionate about their world of wine. Spectacular scenery. Impressive buildings on each site, especially the Cava caves at the first winery. Wonderful settings and ambience of the tasting rooms. History of the wineries was very informative and interesting. Jeep experience was unique.

A fabulous small group tour to a family cava producer

A highlight of our trip to Barcelona, a short journey out of the city and wow you are transported to wonderful vineyards of the Pendes region. The family owned producer offered us an insight into still and sparkling wine production and the labyrinth of caves housing many many bottles of cava. The tastings were excellent and purchases were made, an all round fabulous day.

First Class Winery

One of the best tours I have been on, tons of history as well as all of the wine making experience. Ava and Rob were outstanding.

Intressting winetour

The winetour and the guides was exelent. But the busdriver almost fall a sleep when he draw us tih teh first winegard from Barcelona. We where affraid the he would fall a sleep when he was driving.

Birthday in the vineyards!

Excellent excursion! It was a surprise for my husbands Bday. We really enjoyed everything about the tasting. The wine was excellent! The venues were absolutely beautiful. We even enjoyed the jeep tour of the vineyards. Both women were very knowledgeable, interesting and very pleasant to listen to. I would do it again!!

Beautiful and interesting info and history

We visited a vineyard first, traveling in a couple Range Rovers, very comfortable, not too bumpy which took is to an area with 100-120 year old vines. Very interesting! Then to a cava cellar where we learned about the 2,000,000 bottles of cava, how it was made, stored, etc. The accompanying tapas complimented each diffwine and cava we tried. Highly recommend!

Best wine tour in Barcelona!

We went with a group of 5 and this was everyone’s favorite part of the trip! Ana was very educated on everything at the winery and was happy to answer questions. We got to try 7 amazing wines and explore all of the property. If you’re debating on what you should do in Barcelona this is a MUST!! Very kind family and employees

Terrible logistics! Wonderful wineries

First the winery tour and wine tasting was exemplary! The family that owns the wineries were gracious and informative. They shared the knowledge of how they approach the production of first class cavas and still wines. The facilities and vineyards were beautiful. Even for a well traveled oenophile, there was much to learn. The little bites were well paired with the wines (4 cavas and 3 still wines). The issue was with the transportation. It was St Jordi's day and the downstreets of Barcelona packed. I am handicapped. The meeting point was a distance from the bus pick-up point and we rushed through the streets after our initial guide was 10 minutes late in meeting the group. THe bus took a long time to show up - no coordination, no anticipation. We arrived late to the vieyards and we missed seeing some of the operations as the vineyard tried to make up time. On the way back, one member of the group received a text telling her we would be left off on the outskirts of Barcelona. Again, a hike to the nearest Metro stop. After emails to the operator, the driver brought us directly to a Metro entrance. Luckily some of us knoew the metro system and go everybody directed to their destination. The operator provided no assistance. We heard the driver saying that he had another pick up, so we needed to be dumped off (yes, some of us speak Spanish!). We missed a late lunch reservation, but really no harm done at the end, not because of the assistance of the operator, however.

Beautiful Winery, Terrible Logistics

Excellent winery tour. The problem was the logistics of coming and going. The winery itself, a family owned business of over 30 years, was fascinating. The physical facilities are stunning. the guides are knowledgeable and gracious. The array of cavas (4) and still wines (3) were well chosen and really showed the breadth of the wineries offerings and the differences among various grape blends. The little bites enhanced the tasting experience. So why not 5 stars? It was St. Jordi's day, so traffic was terrible and the pick-up was late. The person checking us in was 10 minutes late which complicated matters. As a result, we were late to the winery, which caused a bit of a rush. It should have been anticipated and the pick-up point adjusted to avopid the worst of the traffic. Coming back was a worse situation. One member of the tour received a text saying that we would be let off on the outskirts of Barcelona. No other member of the tour got the email. The original revised drop off point was a hike to the nearest metro stop. Some of us complained and the driver was told to drive us to the metro stop. We could hear on the driver's phone that the change to the outskirts was to give him time to make another pick-up. No thought was given to the reservations for late lunch that many of us had and lost. No help in directions back to City center, although enough people on the tour figured it out and helped the others get home. I am an elderly handicapped individual. The time at the winery was challenging but doable. The extra "mileage". from the poor logistics, made for a tiring day.

Fantastic !

Highly recommend this tour. Both locations were absolutely beautiful. They give a detailed walk through of both places, and explain the process of making the wine and cava. They paired the wine and cava with different snacks as well, which was done very well. The second venue had a nice little surprise, a gorgeous room that you go into, I don’t give too much away. There was an issue with the group of people we were with and the lovely person at the second venue asked them to be respectful of the other people paying for the tour and if they weren’t interested to wait upstairs. If your aim is to not learn anything and just drink, this is not for you. Overall fabulous experience. Thanks Rob! Unfortunately I cannot remember the lady from the second venues name.

Fabulous tour

This was a wonderful tour. Beautiful space, informative, and inviting. Rob was a terrific host- friendly and very knowledgeable. The cava and wines were delicious (we purchased a case to ship home) and the ground are breathtaking! Would definitely recommend

The perfect blend of scenery, history, wines and cavas!

It was an incredible experience in an intimate setting. The winery is along side the Via Augusta and extremely rich in history. In some respects, it was like stepping back in time into some breathtaking scenery. And, the wines and cavas were equally exquisite. If you are looking to get out of the city and enjoy intimate high-end experiences, this is a must.

Best winery tour

One of the best winery tours I’ve ever taken. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. I loved the 4WD jeep that took us around the vineyard. Our guides were incredibly accommodating and insightful. They made sure we had everything we needed and always had smiles on their faces. My only suggestion is to serve water with the tastings to keep everyone from getting too tipsy.

Beautiful vineyards, very cool tour through the cave, and we had great guides! Loved tasting the wine and cava and experiencing the land through its flavor.

Local Winery with charm

This was a fun tour, but we went in winter which was a bit chilly. They provided blankets for the outdoor 4WD ride from the winery to the church. The wine itself was nice, but I really enjoyed their Cava that is stored underground. Splurge and get the nice bottle you won't be disappointed.

Good, but could be better

Its was a good experience, great local, attention, wine tasting. So, I'd like just to recommend to improve the 4x4 experience, for example, +spend more time in the car exploring the area, fields and stopping the car for a outdoor wine tasting. We got the 4x4 car, but it was very short and just one stop to see the montserrat mountain. I think this kind of activity could be more effective or valuable if they could offer a talbe with chesse and short wine tasting there in the field. The lady attention was good, all staff. The indoor Wine tasting was good too. We could skip the "capela/church".

Very Informative

The guides were EXTREMELY kind and knowledgeable. The company, however, underestimated the amount of walking involved. Further, we requested a private tour, for just my wife and me and what we got was a tour with 16 very nice people. Overall, we had a good time but I wanted to be honest in my assessment.

Informative Wine Tour with Great Views!

This was a super cool and informative wine tour. Went to two wineries, the first one only made/ served Cava (sparkling wine) and the second has a variety or white/red. The wines were delicious and came with paired snacks. We did do a pretty extensive tour of the cellars and grounds as well. I would caution that this is NOT one of those “party” wine tours. So, if that’s what you’re looking for I would probably skip this. The open air jeep drive around the property was nice and the views were great. It was a great time with great wine, snacks, sights, and a ton of info.

A little disappointed

The tour was interesting but too much time indoors and not enough time exploring in the 4x4. The wines and cavas were delicious so this alone was worth the money. However, it is misleading saying it’s a 4x4 tour when only 30 mins out of 4 hours involved this

Mostly Cava

The tours were enjoyable and both vineyard guides were knowledgeable and kind. The bus was a little far from the meetup point, so be prepared to walk a few blocks before getting started. The bus ride was about 45-50 min from the meetup point, so I’d recommend getting a snack/water before getting on the bus. There isn’t any food aside from the vineyard’s tastings which happen at the end of each vineyard. Tastings were predominantly cava, which is a sparkling/champagne-esque type of wine. There was 1 red wine to taste at the first vineyard and 0 at the second vineyard until we asked. Overall, a good time was had by all and some tasty wine was purchased to bring home!

Amazing experience!!

My husband and I loved this experience!!! The tour guide, Eva, was amazing. The grounds were stunning & we learned a lot about the process of making the products. The wine & cava were delicious and we enjoyed the light snacks provided that were incorporated into the tasting. We’d do it again if back in the area!!

Tour guide never showed up

My sister and I booked this 2-winery tour while in Barcelona. Pre-planning customer service was outstanding, attentive, and communicative. Positive start so far. Our small tour (13 ppl; 20 passenger bus) was instructed to arrive at meet-up point no later than 9:00 AM, as they stressed their punctuality policy. Anyone arriving late would be considered a no-show/cancellation. At 9:30 AM, no one was there to meet us and we could reach NO ONE at the phone numbers provided. Thankfully, another tour guide for a different destination arrived to meet her group at same spot we were at. After her making several calls in an attempt to reach someone, she was able to find out where our bus was. So she was kind enough to escort us on foot to where it was parked (approx 6 blocks away...why wasn't it where we were??). By the time we got on the bus and on our way, we were 45 mins behind schedule. Our driver, who at this point I [wrongly] assumed was our tour guide, drove utterly silent the entire time. This is when we deduced our actual tour guide never showed up from the get-go, so we were on our own. Silent driver dropped us at the 1st winery's entrance, where we unloaded and stood around for another 30 minutes waiting for someone to come out and greet us (it was freezing out). Eventually the winery owner, a wonderful human being, came out to greet us and escort us to the our jeeps. She told us she wondered where we were all this time and had called the agency to find out what was going on (since she or staff were not there to greet us, I'm convinced she never reached anyone and thought we were a no-show). In spite of the rocky start, once we were immersed in the tour, it was extremely enjoyable and everything moved along nicely as planned. The 2nd winery (cava production only) was even better and FANTASTIC. Then, on the return back with our silent driver, a passenger became ill and his girlfriend asked the driver to stop the bus so he could get out and get some air (they were 3 friends traveling together). The girlfriend and boyfriend got out. The driver waiting about 15 seconds, shut the door and drove off without them, without telling them! And their friend was still in the back of the bus with all their personal items (purse, wallets, etc). So after 5 or so blocks, we all kept demanding he stop so that at least their friend could get out and back-track to where they were. I understand a driver has a duty to bring guests from point A to B only, but how it was handled was absolutely inexcusable. Bottom line, I would highly recommend the tour itself, as it was a lot of fun and very interesting. But I'm going to think twice before going through Viator again. I'm going to try to at least get a partial refund, but you know how that goes ...

Unforgettable winery tour

Initially we have an inconvenience with Greeting by somebody that never arrived to the meeting point. One of the group of 14 people, made a phone call to the contact person and He gave Him the new meeting point and all of us going to there to get the nice minivan with the nice Jose ( Driver); After that, everything was pleasant and very enjoyable. Professional Tours guides, good Land Rover Jeeps, Fantastic Explanations and Tasted of Wine. I really recommend the Tours.

Must do! Wine country in Barcelona!

Fantastic experience. The grounds and facilities of the cava winery and winery are beautiful. Our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I’ve been to Barcelona a few times and this was one of my favorite experiences!

Beautiful Vineyard!!!

We loved this beautiful property and the history that went with it! We enjoyed traveling to the different venues and the cavas were delicious!! We even ordered some bottles to be sent to friends back in the States!

Tour company canceled 3 of our tours

The vineyard experience was good but Viator cancelled 3 tours on us in one week so it really messed up our plans

Absolutely book this tour!

Wow!!! What an incredible experience! So sophisticated and elegant. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and professional as well as being kind and accommodating for all on the your. The best part for me was the tunnels of stored bottles ( I won’t spoil how many bottles!) The best part for my husband was riding in the open air land rovers on the original Via Augusta and being directly connected to 2700 years of history.

Fantastic Penedes wine tasting experience

Beautiful wineries, delicious Cava and wines, knowledgeable, friendly and funny guides - we had Anna and Rob, both were excellent. A very worthwhile and memorable experience!

Absolute must!

Wonderful experience! The winery was beautiful, the guides were quite knowledgeable and fun, and we had delicious wine pairings at each winery. Be prepared with your suitcase to want to buy all the wines. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Wow! Great wine trip

The experience was incredible. We are wine snobs in California and really enjoyed learning the Spanish wine making experience. The wine was soooo good. Our hostess, Rossi, was very knowledgeable and answered our many questions. We were able to taste multiple cavas and wines and toured the beautiful grounds in an open air car. So much fun. I would highly recommend this experience.

Great day in wine country

Had a great time from start to finish. Pick up was easy and nice large van for the 14 of us. Took about an hour to get the vineyards. Wine region is very scenic and our tour guide Adrian (English version of his name) was very knowledgeable and did a great job with the whole process. 4WD tour was good, not long but long enough. It probably helps that we had a beautiful day as well. Tried several Cavas and wines, all were good and paired with a small snack. No issues with the ride back and drop off was easy too. Would highly recommend this tour.

Amazing Winery Day!

The visit to Pere Ventura and Con Bas was beautiful and very professional. The winery guide, Adria, was very knowledgeable and super helpful with answering all our questions. We’ve been on wine tours in France, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Australia and this was the best (or at the very least, one of the best). The drive to and from Barcelona was very safe too. Highly recommend a visit.

Great had a blast, came with my uncle. always want more wine!! Next time have to try the brunch tasting. Looks like fun! The staff us very pleasant and nice. They don't push you to buy at all. Definitely recommend

Really interesting and different type of wine tour

Loved this class! Have done a lot of wine tours but this was our first cava tour. Really interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Had a great time, would definitely recommend.
