Fun in Barcelona

Changing my look

The staff were helpful and very friendly. They had so many cute sandals, and I got a pair for comfy and a pair for dress up. Totally love the fact that you can buy extra laces to really change the entire look of the dress up sandals.

Great Fun!

My wife and I were in Spain for two weeks and took several tours and activities in multiple cities. This event was the last one of our trip and it was definitely a highlight. The instructors were friendly and engaging, and took a personal interest to ensure each of us were able to create a beautiful pair of espadrilles. This is a family run business - and they are passionate about their shoes and this experience. Really nice bunch of people and so helpful. I was a little worried when I went initially as I was the only one in the class but it was great fun and Pilu was wonderful.

Great class, fun teachers, and custom shoes!

Fun class, not only learning to make the shoes but also the history. It was a chance to be creative and make a custom souvenir. My teenage daughter and I loved it!

A fun and interactive experience! Informative, creative, Cava included. You can choose the kind of shoe, platforms cost are additionally, but flat ones have more colours to chose from. Its a fun way to start a day in the gothic district. Totally worth it.

This was a very fun, interactive, and engaging experience. Annie and Jordie were both fabulous and an absolute joy. They made the class so much fun. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to learn about history of espadrilles while designing your own!

Mafer was an amazing guide and teacher through this experience. She was attentive, funny, and really added to the history of the espadrilles and how to make them now. This was a throughly fun experience and you come away with an authentic, personalised, shoe!

Amazing experience!!

This was so much fun! We went with our four kids ages 18-10 and everyone had fun! It was an amazing experience to learn about the history of the espadrille as well as making a pair for our own use!

Fun way to experience a bit of culture

We enjoyed everything about this charming little shoe store. The young ladies who led our class were energetic and well organized, shared fun history of this type of shoe, taught us how and when to wear them. The tapas were simple snacks of crackers, sausage, nuts, chocolate, served with cava, juice, water - very tasty and still practical while you create your shoes.

Bring Home a Beautiful Customized Souvenir from Barcelona

Pamé was fantastic at leading me through creating my customized espadrilles. Since I was the only one registered that morning, I had a private workshop. She was patient in showing me how best to wield the needle and lace each espadrille (espadeña!). I love how elegant they look, and can't wait to try this on my own with the extra pair that I purchased to bring home. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone travelling to Barcelona, looking for a unique souvenir of their trip. I told everyone about this on my recent cruise when I wore these beautiful espadeñas for evening chic night.

Handmade boots

Great shop and great service! The boots are so comfortable! You can’t find anything like this in the United States. I bought one pair in the shop and ordered another online and they fit perfectly.

So very pleased with my shoes

I love, love, LOVE my avarcas. They are my go-to shoe all spring, summer and fall. When I bought them in the Barcelona store, I decided to wear them out of the store and they gave me zero problems breaking them in. I since have bought 2 other colors and get compliments every time I wear them. The owners are so personable and I know that my purchases have had a small hand in helping sustain not only a small business, but a just working environment as well.

Great fun choosing colors of ribbon and learning ribbon techniques from master artisans! Highly recommend for solo travelers or group s of family or friends.

SO MUCH FUN!

Oh my gosh! This was the most fun in 2 hours I've had in a long time. The girls were so nice, energetic and enthusiastic. They were so helpful and patient with my never ending need for help. When I come back to Barcelona, I WILL be signing up for this one again!

So much fun!

Luis, Kathe & Pilu were wonderful! Luis has so much energy and enthusiasm and Kathe easily matched him! It would be very difficult to NOt have fun! I was lucky enough to be a part of a women in business retreat and this was one of the activities! So many options, the history of the shoes and the process was great! In the end you get a pair of authentic Catalan shoes!

Great fun

Our hosts were terrific and made our experience memorable- what a great team. It was good to learn about the history of the espadrille. The only thing missing was Tapas as stated in the publicity.

I had the most beautiful time at the Barcelona's Handmade Workshop with Luis and Kathe!

I am a Brazilian shoemaker, designer and researcher on sustainable footwear. I was able to learn a lot of interesting things during the workshop and the admiration I had for the craft, the espadrilles and the Catalan history are now even bigger. Luis was also very helpful and provided me all the information I needed to move forward with my research, and Kathe is the most adorable teacher! I highly recommend this workshop and wish the Barcelona's Handmade team all the best. I will share my experience with research colleagues, friends and family and write some interesting paper on the subject, hopefully it will be published!

Run don’t walk!

This was the best thing I have ever done through Viator (and I have done A LOT!) Everyone was fun, friendly and helpful…great atmosphere and welcoming environment. The ladies walked me through each step of the process and cheered me on as well as provided a great experience by explaining the history of the shoes and designs! We had fun, it was stress-free and I came away with an incredible physical take away along with a new memory that will last forever. Truly can’t suggest it enough. My first day in Barcelona will not be forgotten!

New profession for me?

Leaving with a pair of shoes that I actually made and really liked but I'll probably have to keep my day job. The ladies were fabulous and work great together, a great team! They were happy to explain techniques sometimes more than once, very pleasant and lots of fun! Their energy and love for the craft made the class quite enjoyable.

Our hosts were patient and informative! We had such fun making mistakes and correcting them together. The atmosphere of the shop is festive and welcoming. A cultural gem not to be missed!

Lots of fun, but give participants more choices of shoe styles decorating their shoes. There is an upgrade price and people didn’t mind paying extra.

MUST-DO EXPERIENCE for shoe lovers & tourists alike

This was hands-down my favorite experience in Barcelona! Luis and Kathe were excellent hosts - the atmosphere was high energy and lots of fun. We learned all about the origins or espadrilles and were carefully taught the technique. There were SO many options for creating your perfect pair - and they make a wonderful souvenir!! Luis and Kathe are very hands-on instructors - they were patient, encouraging and welcoming. They served cava & light snacks. The shop was very clean and comfortable. I would 1000% recommend this to any shoe lover or tourist who wants to embrace the soul of Barcelona. I will be returning to visit sooner than planned so I can come back & do this again with friends.

Great find in Barcelona

While I was I unable to find shoes for myself, I found two beautifully handmade sandals for my friends. And tge sales person was patient, helpful, and very friendly

A great experience and great shoes!

The workshop was super fun, I went with my 2 daughters, we made 3 pairs of shoes that were unique to each of us. The workshop included history of the shoe, demonstration, then we added the ribbon to our shoes and we got help whenever we we needed it. The workshop was a highlight of our trip!

If you’re planning to go to barcelona please add this experience to your to do list. I gifted me this class for my birthday and the owners Luis and Kathe made me feel so special, they brought out fire candles with the cava and sang happy birthday. Also besides that they were super fun they had music, snacks, and drinks. Also they’re shop is so beautiful and colorful with amazing espadrilles that you can buy. My mom and I loved making our espadrilles that we will cherish forever. Thank you for making me feel speacial on my birthday. It’s the most fun experience I had here in Barcelona.

Festive and Fabulous!

This is such a fantastic experience! Not only do you get an opportunity to customize your own pair of shoes and learn the hands-on techniques of sewing and tying the ribbons, you also get a wonderful lesson on history and culture. The environment is festive with music, tapas and cava. Luis and his assistant Gaby were delightful, fun and patient. I highly recommended it!
