Interactive Spanish Cooking Experience in Barcelona

Wonderful experience

Walking in the market and picking up the fresh ingredients for the Paella. Making sangria was outstanding and tasted really great. The interaction from the chef and the people in the group made this a truly memorable experience. I would highly recommend this activity if you're visiting in Barcelona. Great big kitchen so it didn't feel overcrowded and everyone could play a part in making the Paella. It was a short walk from the kitchen to the marketplace and it was so much to take in at the marketplace. They give you time to walk around the market place and try different items. The ham and cheese sandwiches were so good at the market place. It's a must try.

Fantastic experience

What a fantastic experience. Liz and Sally were wonderful hosts and we were all able to get involved in the preparation and cooking. Overflowing Sangria was lovely and it was all round good fun. Highly recommended.

Authentic cooking class and hat you will love!

This cooking experience exceeded my expectations. Sally, the hostess, was very knowledgeable and kept everyone laughing. I highly recommend (and I’m not even a huge paella fan!)

Great experience, would recommend!

I would most definitely recommend this experience to people interested in a fun and traditional Spanish experience. We first met up at a local bar (this was confusing, as it was a little hard to find), then we quickly split into groups ( there were a LOT of people signed up) and went to the market on Las Ramblas to buy seafood. We wandered around the market for about 30 minutes, then head to the place where we did the cooking. The chef and his assistant were great, very knowledgeable. He walked us through all steps to make a paella from scratch. I will tell you if you are kind of iffy on seafood - this paella is NOT for you. I like, but do not love seafood, so I didn't enjoy the paella but the experience overall was a blast. They served us some very light tapas while we were cooking and we helped (a little) but overall is was more of a cooking instruction class as we were making one large paella for our group that had 12 people. Then there was a Sangria making lesson where we watched our guide teach us how to make sangria, with some funny commentary in there as well.

Going shopping at the market to get our supplies was so cool! We all played a part in making the amazing food and kept it so engaging. We would love to do this again and recommend this to anyone!

Cooking class in Barcelona

This was more like a presentation since not everyone had their own cooking space. The food, drinks and company were good. I prefer a step by step guide so that we can participate all along the way and really feel like a part of the process. I don’t think that it was worth the money spent.

Unforgettable experience!

Our hosts Denise and Manny were so knowledgeable and fun! The drinks were flowing, everyone was so kind, and we learned a lot. I also appreciated their recommendations for other food/experiences in the city at the end of the class. This truly was our favorite experience in Barcelona and we will be booking another class the next time we visit!

More social than cooking

It was fun to get to know some of the other guests, but there were too many people to really experience the cooking.

Great cooking class learning Spanish dishes

Very fun class. Liz (pirate name: Peggy) and Manny are very knowledgeable on both the city and regional cuisine. We had a great time some friends and the sangria was so good. Lots of fun at the Traveller Bar afterwards.

Must do when visiting Barcelona

Great experience ! We learned a lot of things about cooking in general and the chef gave us hints for a perfect paella dish.

Loved every minute

This experience was AWESOME! Denise was our guide and Manny was our chef. From the market, to the kitchen, to the food, everything was unique and well-done. Just be aware that some walking is necessary and the kitchen is on the 2nd floor of a building that is not accessible. So, if you can't climb stairs that will be an issue. Definitely recommend.

Cooking Fun with Manny!

We had a great time making a seafood Paella with Manny! He was very kind, patient with us & knowledgeable. He was also flexible & waited for us as we were a little late due to taking the train in to Barcelona. We came as a family of 6 - my husband & I with our adult children. We also met another family of 4 and 1 other young woman. It was fun to learn how to make paella & sangria! Most of us enjoyed the seafood - but 3 family members would have preferred chicken paella. Manny apologized - as he said he forgot to ask everyone at the beginning of the class. It sounds like he may have made an alternative paella for them. But overall, we had a great time! Curry Family

Judit was amazing in Montserrat

Judit was so wonderful to spend the day in Montserrat with. My daughter and I had a great time and Judit’s welcoming personality and knowledge of the town made it even more enjoyable.

Amazing, fun interactive experience

Learning how to devein prawns and make Sangria. Chef Sally was delightful and entertaining. Food was really tasty. Learnt alot of skills.

Best Paella class ever!!

Awesome experience. Liz and Anthony were the best. Sweet and fun and thorogh. Plus the sangria, tapas, and paella was wonderful. Learning how to actually cook the paella and meeting new people were the biggest takeaways from it!! Thanks Liz and Anthony!!

Absolutely Fabulous experience!

The best experience ever! This paella cooking class with Liz and Andre was the highlight of our time in Barcelona! Liz was funny, knowledgeable and a great entertainer- she is an absolute legend! If you can ask for Liz we can all highly recommend her! Andre (sexy Andre lol) was equally amazing and entertaining. Our group of 6 was well catered for and welcomed. The hosts were brilliant! Free flowing sangria and tapas were delicious, the trip to the market was delightful and gave us a great introduction to the cooking class. Everyone joined in the paella prep with much enthusiasm and entertainment, dancing and drinking while being taught how to make the best and traditional paella and sangria. This is one of the best experiences/ classes we have ever done, massive thanks to Liz the Scouser and sexy Andre from the Geordie bunch - Dena, Alan, Arlene, Gary, Lesley and Mark

More than just a cooking class

Tour through the market and walking tour with history was a delightful and unexpected addition to the cooking class. Lorenzo was an excellent hostess. Overall a wonderful experience. Our 15 year old son enjoyed cooking the paella.

Paella Cooking Class

We really enjoyed this experience - the chefs were very knowledgeable and made sure the class was lots of fun. The kitchen was in a beautiful building and there was plenty of Sangria to go with the Paella!

Best Paella Ever!

What fun! From the market tour with Lorenza to helping prep ingredients to the paella cooking lesson with amazing Chef Andrea, it was a great experience. And the result was the best paella I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Excellent experiencia!

Excellent experience! Only suggestion would be to explain that the meeting point at the bar is not where we will cook. Andrea & Lorenza have been great. The paella and sangria superb!

Loved it!

We absolutely loved this cooking class!! I have a severe nut allergy and they were so helpful in making me feel safe to eat the paella. Liz and Manny were very high energy and great guides throughout our experience. The trip to La Boqueria to pick up the seafood was such a phenomenal touch. Great group size and loved the bottomless sangria!!

Cooking Experience

This experience was well worth it! They took us to a local food mart we never would have found on our own. The chef Alexander and hostess were entertaining and gave us tips on authentic cooking styles and the sangria was amazing!

Liz and Dennis were the absolute best! We had such a good time and learned so much. It was definitely worth the money, the sangria was amazing (a bit strong so be careful) the tapas were also very delicious and of course we made and learned how to make some incredible seafood paella. Liz was so instructional the entire time!

Best all in one experience!

The paella cooking class was maybe one of the best things we did in Barcelona. Our guide Denise, and chef Liz were so friendly and kept the group excited. The paella we made was delicious and didn’t require too much cooking knowledge at all. Our group was small with 9 people and everyone bonded over good food and unlimited sangria. A quick walk through barcelona is included so it really is an all in one experience. If you have 3 hours and room for a good meal, sign up! I promise you’ll learn something or at the very least, have a great time.

Andrea and Sally were just perfect, their passion, positivity, charm and knowledge were beyond expectations and just incredible! from visiting the local market, to the interactive cooking class and just socializing with Andrea and Sally and the rest of the group! it was a beautiful experience, not to be missed!

The best paella and fun experience!

Such an excellent experience with a truly gracious staff. Me and my mom had a great time joking around with Chef Liz and Denice, as well as the awesome people cooking with us. It's just a fun experience learning something new, while having the best Paella I've ever had, with bottomless Sangria :).

Even better than expected!

Finally! Our family has talked about Paella for years and too scared to do it on our own. With the fantastic tricks of the trade and some hands-on experience we are ready to make this at home. It is delicious and a fun experience! Liz and Denise were wonderful!!

Great introduction to Barcelona

Liz & Daphne were absolutely phenomenal. Daphne was knowledgeable, engaging & had lots of patience (there was a bachelorette party within the group). Liz had amazing energy. Thankful for the experience because its the only paella I've been able to eat as a solo traveler! It was a great experience to start my Barcelona trip off with.

Great experience, excellent paella!

We had a wonderful time visiting the market and helping / watching the paella be made. You can get as involved as you want with the paella making or stand on the sidelines and watch. Unlimited sangria was delicious and tapas were delicious too. We also learned to make sangria and the origin/history of it- so interesting! Highly recommend for a fun evening.

A nice experience cooking paella

We reserved an online cooking class through TripAdvisor. We met up at a local bar/restaurant. We shopped at the big market close by la Boquería de Joseph. Our guide was a very nice young lady from the Philippines. After securing our seafood for the paella, we walked to a nearby kitchen where chef kuko was waiting with the other ingredients for the paella. We got to help chop and clean things to add to paella. We were also served sangria and some classic tapas while we cooked. In the end, we got to eat the paella.

One of the best cooking classes I have taken!

This class was one of the highlights of our trip to Barcelona! Andre and Sally were very engaging. We learned so many tips and the paella was the best I have had! So glad we booked this and I wish we had the time to take one of their other classes.

Too many fish in the sea

Wonderful chef. Very nice guide. Both charming and helpful. Interesting trip to the market, but the tapas were stingy and the paella was just ok. Good sangria. Too many people were booked to make it a very personal experience although the chef tried very hard to get everyone involved. The other guests were fun.

Paella , sangria,tapas- what's not to love!

Great experience in Barcelona! We met at a local restaurant and then Denis( not sure of spelling) took us to the Boqueria Market which was so colorful & fun to walk around & see all amazing fruits, veggies, seafood, spices...We had like 10 min to shop on our own while Fishmonger prepped the squid , cuttlefish , mussels & red prawns for our seafood paella. We then headed to another location with a kitchen & sitting area where a great chef whose name escapes me,went over all the tips & secrets to making a great paella while we sipped on sangria & munched on olives, cheese, etc. Anyone who wanted to could put on apron & chop , stir , ask questions & see the seafood paella & we also made a chicken paella at different stages of cooking. Met some great people & had a great time! Highly recommend!

Enjoyable experience!

My friends and I had an enjoyable time with Andrea and Salome! They were kind, informative, and engaging as hosts and chefs. We especially enjoyed walking to the market and learning about the seafood used to make Paella. I think this experience could be improved by capping the number participants (there were about 20 in our group and it felt a little crowded), and improving the meet-up logistics. It was confusing to meet at the bar where other tours were gathering, and while bar customers were getting drinks. Overall, happy with the experience and had fun learning about paella with friends!

Fun

The most memorable part of our lesson was our chef Coco KAKO. He was very informative fun. The whole atmosphere in the kitchen were amazing. The food was Very tasty. we would do it again with him and recommend everyone to also do this class.

Delicious, memorable

Our host was very friendly, knowledgeable and kind. We loved getting our seafood from the market, making and drinking sangria, and making/enjoying the paella. The only downfall was there were so many people it was difficult to enjoy the tapas and participate in the cooking process.

Just do it!

Fabulous experience! Andreas and his sou chef Sally were great. We learnt so much about techniques and cooking paella! (And traditional sangria - take that one everyday over the quick fix!) Our 11 year old loved the experience too! Thoroughly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome cooking class with great Sangria and Paella

This cooking class was great and Sally and her team were great hosts! The Sangria and Tapas were tasty and we never ran out of anything. The cooking class itself was very informative and Sally made sure that eveyone was involved in the cooking process. She also provided great tips and insight of how to make a proper Paella. The only thing you want to know up front is that this cooking class took about 4 hrs in total (not 2.5 hrs as advertised). Be prepared as you won't be able to eat right away. The tapas were great and tasty but will not fill you up (which is not intended to be). We were served unlimited Sangria and other non-alcoholic beverages which was great but you should eat something small up front or else you won't remember the cooking class LOL We were 14 people in total in our group and had a great time together. We made enough food for everyone and we even made a vegertarian Paella since not all of us liked seafood. Again, Sally and her team were great and made sure we had a good time.

Kako and Manny are amazing!

This cooking experience was amazing! Kako and Manny were so much fun! They went into detail on the importance of the ingredients as well as how to perfectly cook a traditional Catalan seafood paella. This was the best dish we had while visiting Barcelona and cannot wait to recreate this dish at home.
