Girona, Figueres Day Trip from Barcelona

Great plan for a day...get out of Barcelona ! We did Girona followed by Figueres with Sylvia and Abel. Sylvia taught me so much about what we saw during the trip. And Abel took us through a route to pass by some important landmarks. There is a lot to see in Barcelona and Figueres. Maybe they can be separate day trips ?

Very worthwhile

The Salvador Dali Museum was a particular highlight. Girona was a real treat in imagining how ancient life must have been. The connection with the ‘Game of Thrones’ was definitely added bonus!

Locations GREAT, the trip was NOT

The locations we visited where great, our guide was not, neather the time they gave you to visit Girona or the museum. If you have the chance to visit this locations in some other way please do it you won't regret it, bit don't hire this trip

Nice excursion although brief information

Overall- convenient tour given transportation to both sites. I wish our guide was more informative in regards to the town of Girona. It would have been nice to be informed more about why it’s special, cycling town, the current climate with their soccer success. Also- it would have been nice to get a little more information on the Dali museum and highlights of what we were going to experience inside. I felt like our guide gave minimal info to the group. I do recommend visiting both places though.

Easy, comfortable and interesting Girona& Dali day trip

Well organized and enthusiastic tour led by Sandra. Comfortable and Easy 1-1/2 hour transportation via tour bus from Barcelona. Good overview walk tour of Girona and 1-1/4 free tour time at each of Girona and Dali museum.

Rainy weather and no umbrellas.

The tour for Girona was on a festival day and very crowded so we arrived very late. It Raines on us the whole time with no protection. The tor company could have warned us about the crowds and provided rain gear. Quite a miserable experience. The bus windows was so fooged tha the driver couldn't even see where he was going and sometimes either went the wrong side of the street. Drive to Dali Museum was short but also fogged windows and scary. Ran into traffic so we arrived late and only had a hour to tour. When we arrived back at the meeting point two people were late and the bus left them behind with their gear still on the bus. The guide was very unconcerned for them. Horrible experince!!

NOT RECOMMENTED

Time was waisted as the microphones did not work (apparently not charged), the guide had to stop several times to explain. Was not a smooth excursion at all. Did not have enough personal time to explore the areas or do any shopping

Trip to Girona-Figuères Dali musuem

Great experience at Catalonia

Sandra was great she was very helpful in our day trip to Girona and Figueres. Great experience if you are visiting Barcelona. Girona is stunning and Dalí Museum a must visit. I would like some more free time at Girona

This tour was terrible. Totally disappointed.

Not well organized, the Guide gave cursory, 10 minute tour in Gerona. Was not very knowledgeable. Did not point out many of the sites there. When we met at the bus to go on to the Dali Museum, we were told that we would not be able to enter the museum even tho we had all paid for the tickets. Instead of offering to take us back to Barcelona, we were given the choice of staying in Gerona for 3 more hours or going to Figueres and doing nothing. Most of us went to Figueres where the bus driver seemed to be lost for about 30 minutes before letting us off the bus. We had one hour to do nothing in Figueres, where there was nothing to do except for the Dali Museum, which it seem Julia Tours did not manage to get us our PAID entrance to. We then got stuck in 3 hours of rush hour traffic getting back to Barcelona, after picking up stragglers in Gerona. A terrible waste of a day. We could have gotten tix to Dali Museum and taken a train to Figueres easily, on our own. Also, after seeing the number of people who were actually going into the Museum, the Tour Company totally miscalculated how much time it would take to see the museum, if we had gotten in. A real waste of time and money.

SCAM

the agency did not provide us access to the Dali Museum, even though they stated that tickets were included. They didn't even provide an explanation that made sense, so the group believed that they simple have not bought the tickets in advance. The entire reason I booked the tour was to visit that museum, so me, my boyfriend and a few others decided to say in Figueres by our own, buy our own tickets (which were only available later that day) and go back to Barcelona by ourselves with a train.

Girona figueres day trip

Great trip! Totally recommended! Must do if you have days to spare in Barcelona! Our guide was super informative and let us into all the details of the towns we visited!

Trip advisor spoiled this for us.

Guides were great and Gerona was nice but that was it. Trip advisors advert for the guided tour was confusing. We thought that we were getting into the Dali Museum as part of the tour but we were informed on arrival that this wasn’t the case. Girona a was fantastic place to visit. But were disappointed not to see the Dali museum. Also because of traffic and the bus driver not knowing were to park we were left with barely an hour in Figueres so it was a wasted journey there.

Our guide was 35 minutes...

Our guide was 35 minutes late, so the excursion was actually shorter than mentioned. Girona is beautiful, but the tour emphasizes too much the fact that Game of Thrones was filmed there, and it tends to become a Game of Thrones tour. The Dali Theatre Museum is a masterpiece - it must be seen. There is too little time to visit the surroundings in both places.

Better to Avoid!

Not even sure where to start from: 1. One of the tour guides was late, so the whole trip started 30 minutes late; 2. The tour did not correspond to its description at all - Upon arrival at Girona, we had a short pass by walk with one of the tour guides, who then gave us less than 1 1/2 hours of free time which merely sufficed to visit the two most important churches, As compared to the advertised program, which advertised more than three hours to be spent in Girona 3. To my specific request when we would be given enough time for lunch, she told me we would have ample time in Figueres. This turned out to be another misunderstanding or failure on their behalf - We had only one and a half hours to visit the theater museum and no time at all to have any sort of lunch. We had to strictly adhere to their timelines since they did not seem interested in the presence of all the travelers and there was a risk of them, abandoning us in case of no-show at their imposed meeting times. Of Note, the trip agenda advertised two hours for the theater museum visit in Figueres. 4. The cherry on the top was their unsolicited recommendation of restaurants to have dinner at which they gave to the group upon arrival at Barcelona - They recommended a few well-known tourist traps, Obviously driven by the commission provided by the relevant restaurants, respectively restaurant chains. In a nutshell, this excursion was organized without any passion and regard for the client, Just one of the many Barcelona tourist traps, which is better to avoid.

Disappointed

My trip was canceled. I received an email from the trip agency, Julia, letting me know to reschedule. I was getting so much email that I missed it. But Viator didn’t seem to know. They sent me an email the morning before reminding me of the trip. When I logged into my Viator app, the trip was still active. I don’t know if the company communicates with Viator, but they should. I was leaving the next day so there was no option to reschedule. Luckily I was able to find another agency that was just leaving that morning and they were able to accommodate me, Catalunya Bus Tours. The people from Julia didn’t even volunteer that information. I had to ask. I got on seconds before they took off. The trip was marvelous. A must do when in Barcelona.

Treasures and more treasures

Our guide was knowledgable and did well with the dual languages of the group. Time in Girona and Figueres was tight between the two locations but very well spent. Both are worth the visit. The motor coach is clean and comfortable. Scenic drive. . Recommend.

Great trip for Girona and Dali Museum

The trip was according to its description. The Julia office entrance faces the bus bay area and should be in description but we went early and found it. Our guide, Miri, was very sweet and easy going. I really enjoyed her descriptions during the Girona section, especially about the history of the Jews in the area. Our trip was on April 23rd, St George Day, so the streets were lined with booths selling roses and books; very festive. As well, Girona was used for scenes from Game of Thrones series. Not of interest for me but many were. I had not had expectations and found this part of the trip very interesting. Just note that there isn’t a lot of time for sit down lunch and exploring so bring food if you want to use your free time exploring. The Dali part was the highlight for many. Miri got us in a bit earlier so we didn’t have to line up . Very proactive of her. I enjoyed both parts of our trip. The drive there and back was smooth. I would recommend this trip.

Disappointing

While the city of Girona and the Dali museum are well worth visiting, I can't recommend our guide, Danny (Daniel) or the timetable that this tour uses. The tour is bilingual, English/Spanish. Our guide's English was very heavily accented. At times, it was difficult to understand which language he was speaking in. In addition, our guide's delivery seemed very mechanical, like he memorized a script., and lacking any genuine interest or passion. Rather than emphasizing the history of this beautiful city, the 'script' seemed overly balanced to emphasizing locations where scenes scenes from The Game of Thrones were filmed.

Girona + Dali

Girona was the most impressive aspect of this tour. I booked for the Dali Museum, but was even happier to have experienced Girona!

Great trip to the top of Spain

Great trip. Saw things we wouldn’t have on our own. Dali’ museum and our guide Sylvia we’re the highlights. Sylvia brought the museum to life. Passionate and knowledgeable.

Breathtaking Girona and surreal Dali in a day

Girona was beautiful and exceeded my expectations. The Roman wall, the intact Jewish quarter, the picturesque views all over town. Our guide, Sylvia, was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and good at keeping the group together and providing tips and directions. The Dali museum was fantastic. The only problem with this trip that it was not long enough. We could have easily used an extra half hour in Girona to enjoy lunch and an extra hour in Figueres for Dali. I felt like I was racing through the museum, and I would have liked to take more time there.

Girona & Dali are sites to see, but maybe with a different company.

Girona and the Dali museum were amazing! The weather was excellent, the sites and experience were great. I would recommend going to these sites, but not with this tour company. The reasons are listed below -although very nice, the tour guide wasn't a great guide. He did not project his voice, so it was VERY hard to hear him. He was given a headset to speak in to, and we were given listening devices to hear him, but he would not put the headset over his head. So, his communication was muffled or just hard to hear because he was not speaking in to his microphone. - When speaking of Girona, most of the information was around the show Game of Thrones. I learned very little about the town other than the show. If he spoke of the history, it was very hard to hear him and I picked up very little. - The tour guide had photos of the GOT filiming, but they were out of order, so every time he tried to find a photo, it was a five minute shuffle show. - suggestion - organize or number those bad boys! - Lastly, the driver was INSANE. Driving to the sites was ok, but coming back, the driver had to slam on his breaks many times. He went around like 1 or 2 cars, to just slam on his breaks because we were in traffic. He was a terrible driver.

What a wonderful day

Sylvia and Laura were very good. I felt hurried thru lunch and suggest another 30 minutes in Girona. I was really rushing to get thru the Dali museum and suggest 45min to an hour more there. In sun, excellent, just wanted more time

Too Quick!!

This day trip from Barcelona - which included a guided tour of Girona, Figueres and an entry ticket for the Dali Museum - was mostly spent on a bus traveling to these locations. Upon our arrival at Girona, our (awesome!!) tour guide Dani led us to several different sites and explained the history and importance. He also had large laminated photos featuring Game of Thrones scenes shot in the city, which was a lovely touch! However, we were given just an hour to "explore and eat" - we RAN to snap a few pictures, eat a quick sandwich, take a bathroom break, and snag a xuixo (chucho) to-go before hopping back on the bus to Figueres. We were then given about 20 minutes to walk through Figueres as our guide procured our Dali Museum tickets (and a 10% discount at the gift shop). I think the most disappointing part of this excursion was that we were only given one hour to explore the entirety of this incredible museum (which was honestly, the biggest draw for us). You would need a good 3-4 hours if the crowds aren't too bad! We got through maybe 1.5 floors, snapping photos and speeding through so we could look back at the works later... we barely scratched the surface. Then it was back to the bus and to Barcelona. To clarify, everything was beautiful. However, it's important to remember that these cities are beautiful no matter what group you choose to travel with/through. This particular tour was far too rushed, and we were left feeling cheated out of the experience we paid for.

Girona, Dali Museum

This was a great trip. Our guide was great and was very knowledgeable and accommodating! Wish we could have gone into a couple of the sights. But, overall it was a great tour

Wonderful Tour Guides

I loved the tour guide Sandra she was so sweet and funny and the other tour guide was also great. It was a busy day going to two destination. We had free time in Girona and went to the Jewish Museum which was excellent! We did the audio tour because we didn’t have that much time due to the tour we took. You can do a different tour option if you want more time I think. A good value because it also included the Dalí museum in figures and bus transportation. We did not have that much extra time in Figures but it was fine. A good tip is to bring or pick up snacks water for the ride.

Great experience and great guide

Very cool historical and cultural trip, and Sandra was a great guide! Answered questions, had great recommendations in Girona, and more. I only wish we had more time; you see so many fun places and things that it’s hard to see them all!

Wonderful Day! I learned so much.

The tour guide was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and provided all sorts or interesting and informative tidbits along the way. She was especially knowledgeable about the life and work of Salvador Dali. Trip wouldn’t have been the same without her.

A lot of money for an Unsatisfying Tour

Our guide John was good. The complaint I have is with Julia travel. Their online tour posting is very misleading. We found in tiny print that the museum part of the tour which was highlighted in the tour heading, was actually not included and more money had to be paid at the site. The tour was spoken in all English and then all Spanish, so, very lengthy explanations, half of which was not understood and became quite annoying. The tours should be separated by language so English only have tour in English and Spanish only have tour in Spanish, not both in one tour. The earphone amplifiers did not work with a lot of feedback, so had to pull out of ears most of the time and could not hear the guide. All in all, not worth the money paid for and would not recommend.

Dali was the star of the trip!

I didn’t find Girona too interesting and there was too much free time there but the Dali in Figueres was wonderful. I’m sure others felt differently. But I wish the Dali was available on its own. The guide Alex made it come alive because he was so knowledgeable and the assistant and driver were very nice, as was the guide in Girona (Marialena?) was also very knowledgeable.

Too little time

It seems there is too much time...stuck in traffic...but not enough time to enjoy the magic of art. I was not familiar with Salvador Dali until this visit here with my wife. I was very impressed! This is something that can be done in a couple of hours but if you really want to get the full experience, you should plan a full day. We were on a tour which was very good but it was not sufficient to get a thorough grasp of the art and artist. My wife is the artist of the two of us but I enjoyed all the small things and pictures in pictures. I do not know how one person could have such an imagination to create the art that we saw. Fantastic museum and tribute to a great artist.

The guide was very nice,...

The guide was very nice, knowledgeable and took us to all places. The guide at Giróna knew a lot of the town and was very funny with jokes.

Wonderful daytrip

This daytrip was amazing! I booked it to visit the Dali-museum specifically and I didn't know anything about Girona beforehand. Once I saw Girona, I fell in love with it. It's a very charming town and definitely worth the visit! Our guide Kristina was wonderful and told us all about the history and interesting facts about the town. I would love to come back one day. The Dali museum was great! I love Dali's work and our guide Carlos provided some context to the work which made me appreciate the artwork even more and made it a fun and interesting experience. The trip was very well organized, the guides were very friendly and helpful and we got enough free time to explore on our own as well. The bus was comfortable and was always on time. I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone!

Perfect full day trip

We had a great time. The tour girl guide was awesome. Nice time in Girona, the river and the city beautiful but we got caught by the rain when we got our fast breakfast, then we went to Figueres, the museum was awesome, we spend a lot of time, be ready yo see a lot of people, there is no place to have a sit. It was a really nice full day trip!

Rich tour experience

Excellent tour! Both Gemma and Blanca are highly knowledgeable and adept. We especially enjoyed the deep knowledge of Dali and the Dali Museum tour. An added bonus is Gemma’s suggestion for an authentic paella restaurant - it was excellent!

Girona

Gemma and Silvia were fantastice. The seem to care about the people in the group. Gemma was passionate about the Dali tour.

Gemma was excellent, patient, and diligent in both Spanish and English. As a bilingual tour guide myself, this work is not easy. It requires a lot of mental focus. She was amazing! Girona was spectacular, and she gave us excellent food recommendations for our free time. A the Dali Museum, she was on point. Really excellent experience overall!

A well-organized day trip

This is a full day of tour locations. At the Dali museum we were split into an English-speaking group and a Spanish-speaking group which I thought was a good approach. Our guide explained certain works in the museum for an hour and then we had free time to explore the rest of the museum. The separate collection of jewelry that Dali created is stunning. You will find them an building annexed to the main museum before exiting the museum. Highly recommend.

Wonderful experience!

This was a wonderful one-day experience! Our guides, Cristina and Alex, have been nothing short of amazing. We've learnt so much about Catalunya, Girona and Salvador Dalì. At the end of the day we were a bit tired but so happy to have taken this trip.

Girona Me Enamora!

Girona is beautiful! The guide, Gemma, was wonderful. She was very articulate, passionate and very well learned as to all things Girona, Figueres and Salvador Dalí. My wife and I truly enjoyed every aspect of this tour and would highly recommend it.

An amazing action-packed day!

This trip was a perfectly fun-filled day trip. I can't believe how many cool sites we got to see all in one day...and it did not feel rushed at all! The views and history of these places are so cool to learn about and our amazing tour guide Paulina made the experience even more special. This trip should be on everyone's agenda when visiting Barcelona!

Girona and Dali

Alex was a wonderful guide And the guide in girona (I forget her name but I believe she was Russian) was exceptionally good. Dali museum was overwhelming and so worth the visit.

My ears are bleeding.

We did not enjoy the Dali museum. It was not our style. We also did not enjoy listening to every word the guide said in English and Spanish. Way too much talking. Girona guide was very good. But again too much talking.

Great tour to try!

Had an amazing trip to Girona and the Dalí Museum! Luis was our tour guide. He was pleasant and very knowledgeable! We even were able to enjoy s nice lunch. Would highly recommend this tour!

Very nice day!

Everything was on schedule. Free time was the perfect amount of time. Nuria (our tour guide) was polite and explained the highlights clearly. Location meeing point was accurate. The bus was comfy and clean (no drinks and food allowed - only water). Definitely would recommend.
