Andorra, France and Spain: The Original Three Countries Tour

Great day trip

When we booked our Spain trip, my child really wanted to go to Andorrasince it was close. There is no easy way to get to Andorra. This trip was great because we also got a stop in France. Our guide, Pablo, was excellent. He was full of energy and explained the history of the different places we visited. Even thoufh we were most interestedin France and Andorra, the stop in Baga was nice to see Spain ourside of Barcelona.

Day trip 3 cities

Fun trip to 3 cities in Spain, France and Andorra. Knowledgable, helpful and friendly staff. Pablo was our tour guide and he was very entertaining! Highly recommended! Shout out to Pedro for getting us there and back safely!

Longest day tour

It was 12 hours of beautiful scenery. The guide Alex had a lot of interesting trivia n history to share. He was most accommodating with a great sense of humor. He kept us on time with all the places we went to.

Once in a Lifetime experience

Our tour guide Rod, was awesome. He is very knowledgeable in all the histories and origins of all the villages, towns and cities we visited. We would highly recommend Rod and the Explore Catalunya Tours to all our families and friends who might visit Barcelona in the future. Excellent day

Excellent tour. The amazing landscapes and the contrast between the old Spanish and French towns and the modern Andorra la Vella made for an interesting day. Alex and David were great! Alex told the Catalonian history in a fun and informal way.

Great way to see Andorra

Great tour and mark was a great guide! I thought the time we had in each location was perfect, and it was awesome to be able to see Andorra. Only thing to note is that bathrooms can be difficult to find or long lines, but other than that a good experience!

This was the perfect day trip to see different parts of Spain and to spend the afternoon shopping in Andorra. Our tour guide, Marco, was very knowledgable and kind.

A unique opportunity off the beaten path.

This trip not only had incredible views and interesting stops, it was an excellent opportunity to do something unique and quite different from other tours. Our driver, Marcos, was masterful driving the mountain roads. Jaime, our guide, was wonderful. He not only talked about the scenery, he gave great information on the history of each location. Take this tour and sample the delicious pastries in Baga, dip your feet into the spring at Ax les Thermes, and brag to your friends that you were in Andorra. Loved every minute.

It was fine, but we needed more time.

First, let me say we had fun. And we got lots of naps in the bus. And some decent pictures. However, there are things one should know before booking this all-day tour. 1) You are in the bus for 9 hours and in the towns for 3 hours. We had about 1 hour in each city and that simply wasn't enough time to do much of anything. 2) No stamp for France because there is no need for a border guard crossing. And the Andorra stamp is likely a tourist stamp and not official because apparently the border guards don't often stop travelers. That's fine, but if you go and staffing is at a minimum at the crossing, you may not be able to get a stamp. 3) In Baga, you will get a coffee and use a bathroom and you have little time for anything else. In Ax les Therm, either choose food, shopping, or walking around. You won't have time for more than 1 activity. And if you want to shop, do it right away. All stores seemed to close by 12:15 so we couldn't find even a souvenir from the town. In Andorra, you're in a shopping plaza but the tourist info booth will sell some Andorra-themed items if that's what you're looking for. But hardly time to sit and order and enjoy a meal unless you just pick the first place you see and order right away. 4) The guide and driver were AMAZING. Judit was fun, knowledgeable, and attentive. I learned quite a bit of history and culture on my tour! Overall it was fine, but we absolutely needed more time. For the tour provider, I recommend cutting France and focusing more time in Andorra. If you cut France you could give travelers 3 hours or more in Andorra. Plenty of time to walk around, order lunch, and still make it back to Barcelona by 19:00.

Three countries

The stops gave us time to see the terrain. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the driver was very helpful. We got to eat and shop in most locations and frequent bathroom stops were provided I would recommend this tour.

Amazing

Great tour of all the countries in a day! It was amazing. We took a tour bus with AC. However no AC was needed when we were up the mountains of Andorra. So picturesque with snow topped mountains and ski resorts. We shopped and ate lunch in France. Then back to Barcelona. Our bus driver was Jonathon and our guide was Arno. Very informative.

Great tour but not enough stops or time to see sites

Had to switch the bus at bus shop so 1/2 hour plus lost time for trip. Played catchup rest of trip as driver could only drive so many hours. Baga was great but no time to walk medieval town after quick cup of coffee as advertised. The French town with hot springs was nice and worth going to (You soak your feet in a hot spring) Going to Andorra was a let down. Just shopping, not for tourist things, but expensive stores and duty free things (jewelry, perfume, tobacco produces, wine). Lots to see from the bus but no stops for photos. Our tour guide and driver, David and Lidia, were really great.

A tremendous tour

David the tour guide was tremendous! He provided a vast amount of history during the tour. The best part of the tour for me was seeing the snow in Andorra in June 2024. Overall great tour would recommend to everyone

A 12 hour bus ride

Looking at this you think it would be awesome, visiting the 3 counties. In actuality it's a.long.bua ride. You get to stop at a little place in Spain for about 20 min, the hot chocolate was a Yoohoo that was steamed, in France you get to stop for about an hour, you can put your feet in hot springs for a few min. The Cave restaurant owner was really rude and the food was not good ( we chose this place on our own unfortunately) with Andorra being one of the oldest countries you are not prepared for how modern it is, it's like a giant outdoor mall. That being said the guid was very knowledgeable and nice. We had some laughs on the way and got some cool pictures but I wouldn't do this again.

Views were stunning! Loved learning about the different regions with history and culture. Short stops, but expected for a three country day trip.

3 countries in one day but wanted to see more

We took the day trip from Barcelona to Andorra & France with a stop in Spain. All the stops were interesting and fun but there were many sites that we just got a glimpse of from the bus. If we could have stopped for even 10 minutes at the dramatic castle with two towers still standing, the arched bridge or the waterfall, much would have been added to the trip. David & Lydia were great guides and it was an enjoyable day away from the city.

Day Trip To Andorra

If you’re interested in visiting Andorra, this is a very easy way to see the country. There were two stops that were done before the bus arrived in Andorra . I really enjoyed, the Authentic Catalayan town of Baga. I also enjoyed St. Louis the town in France. Our tour guide David was full of informstion and kept the tour on track. He truly wanted everyone to enjoy their experience.

Nice trip and towns - but typical tour group frustrations

Beautiful country. Was disappointed with having to trade busses out of the gate and the lack of control over the tour group, and how many people wandered off and we had to wait for. Information during the tour was nice. Convenient way to see Andorra in a day. Stops were nice but were tight on time. Would have liked more time in Andorra-ended up with about an hour.

Highly recommended for a quick view of the mountains

Excellent day out to see the mountains after spending many days in the bigger cities. Got away from the mad crouds and had some time to experience the rural scenes. Guide and driver was very good.

A True must see

Rod started the day with energy at 7am! The two ladies at the front check in were lovely. Rod came out and greeted us, gave us a brief chat on the way to the bus. We were then introduced to Jorge (George?), our driver, who greeted us with a warm smile, and a kind remark ‘Bon dia’. We were off on our way. Rod provided a informative but fun and interesting commentary the entire way and back. He took us to Baca first for a Catalonian pastry and coffee, some history, and some photo ops. You can see Rod really cares about his clients and the locals. He took time to sit and speak with a local elder, and introduce her to us. Then we were off to Ax les thermes for a French lunch and to dip our feet in the surprisingly hot natural spring. After that, we were on our way to Andorra, for about 1.5 hours of exploring, and then back down through Catalonia. Rod provides the perfect vibes and info for each stop. Jorge gets you there safely and on time. A perfect duo. Undoubtably an amazing day trip, NOT to be missed. If you are travelling to Barcelona, you owe it to yourself and the region to learn about the Catalonian culture with this amazing trip.

Fun day trip

Judit was very knowledgeable and super nice. She was also very accommodating, ready to answer any questions we may have and gave us good recommendations. It was a long trip but well worth it!

Worth a look

Enrico our driver guide was the best . He had a great sense of humour and gave out small group some good insight into the history of the areas we visited.. Andorra was a spectacular place scenery wise but the town itself was really only a big shopping centre

The guide is great but due to road construction we spent majority of our time in the bus than exploring the sites.

Brake from Barcelona

This tour was an amazing day that visits three places in apparently three different countries. Our first stop was in Baga, then we stopped in another place in France and finally Andorra. The three places were beautiful and tranquil thus making the day even more pleasant. Our guide Pablo was very friendly and passionate about his job. He tried to make the long bus trips more enjoyable by giving us unformation about the places we are visiting, information how we could make the most of our trip in Catalonia and some games. The rest of the group were very friendly as well which made the day even more enjoyable. If you want to take brake from Barcelona and visit something different this tour is excellent and I totally recommend it. Finally I would like to thank again our guide Pablo for his wonderful job during the tour.

Communication around departure time and location were communicated well before the tour and re-confirmed again 2 days prior. Highly professional! I was in a group of about 20 people in a very comfortable mini van, with lots of room to space out - I had two seats to myself as did many travellers. The mini van had air conditioning which worked very well (very strong!). Our driver George was fantastic and our guide Nu was equally fantastic! She was extremely informative and gave detailed information about the countries we were visiting and also about the day’s itinerary. Together, they both did a superb job to ensure the tour ran according to schedule and guests were happy. We met outside the office at 6:50am, and after a quick check-in, document check (passports) and toilet break, we boarded the buses just after 7am. Our first stop was in Baga, Spain, approximately 1h 45m from Barcelona (arriving about 9am). We started out with a 20 minute walking tour of this quaint little town, and then had the opportunity to buy snacks and use the toilet. We also stopped in at a local bakery to try a sweet bread called Coca. It was delicious and a nice inclusion provided by the tour company. At 9:40, we were on our way to our second stop. The drive through the pre-Pyrenees (low elevation on the Spain side) and the Pyrenees was really scenic and lovely en route to France. Our next stop was in France - a town called Ax-les-Thermes. Here, we did a short walking tour and we were given free time to enjoy lunch and the town on our own until 12:45pm. You walk by the river, grab lunch or you can also dip your feet in the free thermal spa if you so choose! The border crossing was very fast and easy - we did not stop, we just drove right through. En route to Andorra La Vella, we made a quick scenic picture stop to view and photograph the beautiful Pyrenee mountains. For me, this was the highlight of Andorra! We made our way to our final stop of the itinerary - Andorra - where we would make a stop to look around in the capital, Andorra la Vella. We arrived at 2:20pm, and we were given 1h 10m of free time, which was more than sufficient! There is not a whole lot to do in Andorra la Vella other than shopping and eating. I enjoyed walking up and down the streets, taking in the beautiful street art and the people taking a lazy coffee or wine at a cafe. There is also an Andorra la Vella sign nearby the bridge and some other cool sculptures you can photograph. I enjoyed my time! We met at our meeting point at 3:35pm, and made our way to the bus. We made a quick stop at the border so that we could get our passports stamped with an exit stamp for Andorra (tourist stamp, it’s not official!). I thought this was a really kind gesture on part of our guide. Within minutes we were on our way! We made one last stop to use the toilet about 1 hour after crossing the border, and then we made the drive back to Barcelona (arriving back at the pick-up spot around 7pm). The driver was really great - we all felt in very safe hands! He was very attentive, and concerned with the safety of passengers. Our guide was just exceptional! She was full of energy, very informative and was clearly very passionate about her job! She went above and beyond to make the tour as enjoyable as possible for everyone. Experience

Good trip, nice and comfortable bus, knowledgeable guide. All stops are perfectly including, stoppages for toilet breaks, and lunch etc, are planned well

Would definitely recommend.

Overall a great experience. Our driver, Marcos, navigated tight turns and parking spaces expertly. Our guide, Pablo, was entertaining and full of great information. He kept the group on schedule and created a fun atmosphere for everyone on the bus. He was helpful with directions and tips at every stop, and took great photos so we didn’t have to strictly rely on selfies. On the way back, Pablo took the time to chat with everyone individually and offer them tips for the remainder of their time in Barcelona. All but one of the stops on the tour were beautiful and interesting. (The very last one was a strictly functional bathroom break, which was neither beautiful nor interesting, but was appreciated.) The bus was comfortable. It had seat belts, tray tables, and even usb charging ports. Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes. Also some toilet paper, as some of the public toilets may not have any. That’s not a reflection on the tour; just a fact of travel in medieval towns.

Beautiful Andorra la Vella!

We absolutely loved this tour! 3 countries in 1 day...the promise did not disappoint. Its hard to pick just one favorite, but Andorra wins the prize for us! Pablo was an amazing guide and made our family of 6 feel very special! Definitely recommend!

Scenic ride

The scenery along the ride was beautiful. Unfortunately, I was so tired after being on the go for two weeks that I kept on nodding off. I enjoyed the stops that we made, but I have to admit that I was rather disappointed at Andorra. I expected something quaint and scenic - not a shopping destination.

Triple Header

This was an absolutely AMAZING excursion for our first visit to Spain. Top quality services, communications and both our bus driver Lidia and our tour guide Arnold made this trip extra special. Arnold was extremely knowledgeable and witty, and is a true professional. Thanks to ALL❣️

An incredible adventure to Andora

The scenery on the way to Andora and France was something our family will never forget. Just incredible.

Amazing trip

This was an amazing tour. We saw so much in 12 hours. Marta, how guide, was stellar. So knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone.

A must do

This was a must do. 3 countries in one day! While it is an all day event, it does not feel like it. There are several stops along the way that you are not thinking of the time. I went in June. Need an extra layer for France as it was cooler. Guide was outstanding, great food, shopping and breathtaking scenery. Comfortable smaller sized bus.

A little bit of Spain, France and Andorra in one day

This is a full day tour which should not be missed. Our guide Marc was very entertaining and gave us just the right amount of information about each location. His delivery was fresh and animated which is not easy to maintain over the 12 hour trip. He interacted well with each group member getting to know their names and a little bit about them. He encouraged everyone to be punctual and they were. Before we left the bus at the end of the trip he made sure everyone knew how to get to their next destination. All destinations in all three countries were unique and representative of their regions. At each stop we ate, toured and shopped. The real show stopper for me was the passing scenery which did not fail to awe us over this all day excursion. All in all a great day tour which I would fully recommend.

3 beautiful countries, relax and enjoy.

Small villages, along with Andorras mountain side, beautiful landscape of Spain. Spain has so much to offer.

A fabulous tour.

I was so excited to do this tour. I've never been to Spain or Andorra so I was on new territory. Bigger than a van and smaller than a full size tour bus, the bus was quite comfortable with good seats and USB ports. Our guide, Jaime, and our drive, Pedro, were both excellent. Jaime was funny and charming, and in Bagà, Spain, our first stop, he treated us to wonderful Catalan pastries. In Ax-Les-Thermes, we had the chance to soak our feet in hot springs, with public wading pools in the town square. I picked the hotter one and it was awesome! Andorra and Ax are in the Pyrenees and boy, are the mountains gorgeous! I was less impressed with Andorra's capital city, Andorra La Vella; it's very commercial and very expensive. The country outside the city, though, is gorgeous. i have only one complaint about the entire experience and that's that the bus windows reflect each other from both sides of the bus. It's very hard to see out the windows and impossible to take pictures while the vehicle is moving. And a lot of the most beautiful scenery is out the sides. I sat in the first row so I could see out the front windshield, but a non-reflective coating (not tinting) like computers and some TVs have would be awesome. This tour is amazing.

Great cultural experience

Enjoyed all the information and knowledge that Marta was able to provide about Catalon and Andorran cultures. There is alot to see and learn on this day trip.

Off to Andorra

I enjoyed all three stops with Aix-en~theme being my favorite. A great way to spend the day in Barcelona.

Quaint Villages, Rolling Hills, and Exposure to the Beautiful Downtown of Andorra

This was a fun day to spend touring three countries, one of which most people have never - and will never - hear about. You will see quaint villages, rolling hills, stop for your pick from a great number of restaurants for lunch and tour downtown Andorra, which is colouful and really stands out with artistic and architectural expression. I would recommend this tour for people staying in Barcelona with a little extra time on your hands, otherwise you'll just be cramming a lot into your holiday and it won't be much of a holiday.

Awesome experience

Our original trip to Andorra and France was cancelled at the last minute by the previous tour operator so when Viator suggested this alternative, we jumped on it. It was the best thing that could have happened. I would strongly recommend Explore Catalunya Tours for all things Barcelona. They are organized, timely, professional and have experienced guides who speak English fairly well. For this specific tour, I would like to give a special shoutout to Judit who was absolutely amazing. She was filled with energy, built rapport with the tourists, she was filled with knowledge about each of the sites we visited, shared legends, you could ask her any questions about the country, the culture, politics, etc. which was great for conversations in between site visits. The cities themselves were also good, a lot of history and the views on our way to Andorra were awesome. Only draw back was we had less time in Andorra than expected but that didn’t spoil the fun we had. Thank you Explore Catalunya for an excellent tour experience!!

So glad I went

I’m in it for the scenery, and this tour did not disappoint. It was the end of May, and every place we traveled was brilliant green. The steep narrow valleys in the Pyrenees were spectacular. I love a road trip, so this was perfect for me. If you don’t like to spend an hour or two at a time driving, it’s probably not for you. Our guide Pablo was knowledgeable and delightful. His enthusiasm kept us all in excellent spirits. I would recommend this trip highly.
