Bad experience with hotel booking

In the month of March 2024 , I booked a place called Gli Avelli at Florence, Italy through Booking.com . The photographs of the property displayed was tempting , the review showed 8+. Unfortunately could not access the property , it was supposed to be on the 5th floor , no lift . Could not carry the baggage . An narrow the stairway , only one man can access not a good climb for old people with luggage . Quite a old building and appeared in a poorly maintained condition . It was supposed to be online checking . All money was taken before hand , even the local government tax . Online instructions for check in was vague , the access code given did not work. Normally in the online check-in , most of the parties give detailed instructions with photographs and step by step instructions . Here nothing was given. Most of the time the property is always reachable by call or WhatsApp message to hep. Here the property wan not reachable after the payment of money. After reaching the property , could not enter , tried contacting the property people , then booking.com . No help . From booking.com they only had standard reply someone will contact . It was already quite late in the evening finally had to find an alternative hotel with additional payment and take care my stay at Florence. So lost the money and suffered inconvenience. So be careful about the properties displayed in the Booking.com . They have no means of verification and assure you safe services. No compensation received , this system of prepayment appears to be risky and no way of recovery and holding responsible. This was a terrifying experience. Many of the properties appeared to be higher cost and misleading with photographs. Do exercise caution. I had few communications with Booking.com they also could not reach the property and said you should have contacted while you where there , which I did , no help very irresponsible reply.

Great and friendly experience. Booked the shooting experience via Tripadvisor and Nate from the Shooting Club came to my hotel to fetch me. Instructor was helpful. The entire experience was very pleasant, safe and highly enjoyable.
