Private Tour: Floating Markets and Bridge on River Kwai Day Trip from Bangkok

Floating Market Tour

Unfortunately we do not have had a super tour guide. He was not really interested, he has told us only the most important information and in the mean time he has played with is I-Phone or have had a sleep. We have to pay extra for the small boot on the floating market. However, the floating market is only for tourist!! I would never go there again. The River Kwai with the bridge was interesting and the cemetery was touching. I would chose another company to make this tour.

too long tour for a short visit to a crouded and too touristic destination

For such a long trip, the private car has to be much more confortable and new!! more space for the legs, the way back to Bangkock took almost 3 hours. The guide should add some more interesting items about Thailand during the driving time.

Great days adventure

The visit to the Bridge On The River Kwai was well worth the effort considering the Australian association in construction of this historic war time relic. Floating markets were an experience.

Great Tour

This is a great tour. Combination of Floating Markets and the Bridge on River Kwai is just like hitting two birds with one stone. The guide Niko gave us good information of the places we visited.

Waste of money

We were very disappointed with this tour the markets were a total tourist trap if you want to view it via paddle boat it will cost you an edition 900thb. As we visited in october which is the low season there wasnt the fruit and food travelling around on the boats like what you expext to see, which we were not told until after the fact. As we went to the markets first we were unable to ride the death railway which was the reason we wanted to go to the river kwai. However we should have done more research on that, we just expected the train to go all day not just in the morning . We did not see the salt fields nor rice fields the lunch was not very good. There was a constant sales pitch for add ons at extra cost at every step.Overall this tour is definitely not worth the money, i would not recommended it.

Loved the market

A bit weird tour if I have to be honest, the floating market part was amazing, would liked to be there a bit longer though. After that we went to a small museum and saw the graveyard, which I was not expecting but was interesting.

We booked a private day tour to the floating markets and bridge on the river Kwai with Tour East Thailand with Viator. 1. Pick up time - Having booked our trip through Viator we received a message that our pick up time would be 630am from our hotel lobby. Our tour guide Netsura turned up at 645am, saying she had been at our hotel since 6am, but then the driver did not arrive until 655am. Having got up this early it was not a good start. 2. Floating market - we were asked to pay 900 baht for a small boat for a 30 mins market tour, though this was not mentioned on the tour exclusions on the itinerary. This maybe optional, but how else do you see the floating market? 3. Bridge over the river Kwai - Netsura explained we should take this once in a lifetime boat trip from the JEATH museum to see the original bridge which you cant see any other way. Despite the 1000 baht charge, we went along with her suggestion, only to find the remains of the original bridge are clearly visible from the new bridge and our 5 mins boat ride is clearly a scam for tourists. 4. Throughout the trip Netsura gave very little commentary of any interest, but continually chatted to the driver whilst tapping on her iPhone. One would question why we needed a tour guide if this is the case. We have been to many South East Asian countries including Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore on numerous occasions, so know that this tour falls well below an acceptable standard. Having provided feedback to Tour East and Viator, neither company seems to accept the above the unacceptable - very poor customer service! We would certainly not be using either company again!

Floating Market and Bridge on River Kwai Tour

Excellent trip. Tour guide, Vanda, was very knowledgeable and spoke clear English. The driver was very safe, so never felt uncomfortable on very crowded roads. Floating markets were interesting and colourful but merely a tourist attraction, rather than about the local way of life. Bridge on River Kwai, the little museum with old photos, and the cemetery were all excellent and worth the long drive to see. Only thing I didn't realise was, by combining the two tours, we were unable to see Hellfire Pass or go on the train ride over the bridge, but still a most enjoyable day out with Vanda and her very competent driver.

Way too crowded with tourists trying...

<p>Way too crowded with tourists trying to experience the floating markets. More like bumper boats. Literally went down the canal a short ways and then went backwards up the same canal. Werent told that there was an extra charge for the paddle boats needed to float down the canal. Disappointing for the amount of time taken to reach the market area. Thought there would be some advantage to having a private tour but there wasnt any.</p>

<p>The tour guide and driver were on time and very nice and accommodating. We had a good time at the floating market and River Kwai, although the floating market we went to the most touristy one was very congested and after awhile we got tired of being stuck in traffic in the canal. The guide was knowledgeable and we had a good time. The trip really does take all day. My only complaint was that we had to pay full price for my 1.5 year old daughter, which in Asia usually kids under 2 are free.</p>

<p>The floating markets were full of sights, sounds and smells and so interesting to just sit by the river drinking a coffee and watch everything going on around us. The visit to both the POW Cemetery and Bridge makes one feel very lucky and humble. A long day at 11 hours, but worth the experience. The guide and driver were very helpful.</p>

<p>Local agent came to hotel and announced she had only booking for two people, so despite having a voucher one of our party had to stay behind and lose trip he had paid for. Trip itself was heavily focussed on taking us to tourist shops where we assume commissions paid to guides</p>

<p>Our guides were not genuinely concerned about you having a good experience. Felt as if they wanted to check all the boxes of what you were supposed to see on the tour. We were the only ones in the tour but was not able to have any leniency to what we could do. We have done so many tours through viator and this was our only tour we felt let down.</p>

<p>Loved this tour and so glad we choose the private tour as our guide was great. Full of useful information. Took us to see the railway markets which was a bonus. The bridge and cemetery was spin chilling to think what these people went through. Definitely pay the extra 150 THB to do the boat which takes you up past all the market stalls. Very unique experience.</p>

<p>tour guide who pick us up was rude. he never informed us of our pick-up time a night before and early in the morning around 7 AM he called us in the room that he is downstairs already. I asked for a 15 minutes from him so that we could change clothes from sleeping he said no only 10 minutes to think of this is a PRIVATE TOUR!</p>

<p>Had to take a taxi from my hotel to pick up point because my hotel was not on list. I did the private tour alone but had to pay for two. Didn't see that coming until I went to checkout but I understand.</p> <p>Met driver at hotel. Both of us arrived early and departed early. Car was nice, comfortable Toyota. Sunday was a great day to go since traffic was very light. We made good time to River Markets. Really cool site to see! From there we went to the Allied cemetary in Kanchanburi. Very well maintained and dignified but the city has grown up around the cemetery. Very noisy outsidd. From there we went to the Bridge. Does not look anything like the movie so don't go there with those expectations. Still very cool to see. After we had lunch in a quiet riverside resturant. Food was plentiful and very tasty. Then drove back to BKK. Did not make quite as good time but tour ended on time. Guide (sorry I forgot his name) and driver were both very good. The guide spoke very good English and was very friendly. We talked about many things the whole trip. Provided with a lot of information about the trip and Thailand in general. Super Awesome guide. Would love to do again when my wife is able to visit later this year!</p>

<p>A very enjoyable day. but long and tiring. Our guide was excellent and she ensured we got the most from our trip. Because we booked the private tour we were able to alter the itinery to include a ride on an elephant and offer support to the Thai elephants in a positive way. The floating market was a great experience and we highly recommend taking the boat around the market. It's very busy and the first time we have seen a 'boat jam' but this just added to the fun. Well worth a visit. The journey to visit the River Kwai is about 3 hours from Bangkok but we wouldn't have missed it or changed anything. Having a private tour was definitely a bonus for this trip. The museum and cemetery visit were thought provoking and the Thai people encourage a respectful approach from their visitors. The area around the bridge is commercialised but this is to be expected at a tourist destination that draws so may visitors. Be prepared for the increased heat and humidity at these destinations. Driving around Bangkok and surrounding areas is definitely an experience in itself and not for the faint hearted.</p>

We were in Bangkok for a short time and tried to plan our activities wisely which is why we selected the private tour. We were very disappointed. The tour guide did not speak English very well nor was he very professional or knowledgeable. He didn't engage in conversation and he gave us a few facts but nothing substantial. The floating market was basically a tourist trap and we would have learned more about the Bridge on River Kwai if we found our own transportation and hired a tour guide on the premises.

Having a private tour is well worth doing. The tour guide allowed us to do things in our own time, explained things fully, and gave us time alone to explore afterwards. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. You should be aware that the bridge is a little scary and dangerous as there are no sides. That might just be me worrying too much!

Our trip was perfect. The guide was great with the children and her English was near perfect. We were given cold scented towels after each stop, to cool us down and had a great day. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the bridge and its history, but be warned: the bridge is very very hot. It's well worth taking the private trip to make it a more personal day out, which allows you to take longer or shorter at the attractions you are interested in, rather than hanging around for others all the time.

Nicht erfüllt !!!!

Wir haben einen sehr teuren Ausflug zu den schwimmenden Märkten und zur Brücke am Kwai gebucht. Lieder wurden wir sehr enttäuscht, denn wir haben nur die Brücke am Kwai gesehen, die schwimmenden Märkte haben wir aus unerfindlichen Gründen nicht besucht. Der Ausflug war das Geld nicht wert, wir fühlen uns verarscht.

Hemos visto varios mercados flotantes y este es uno mas si lo tienen como atracción turística deberían animar a todos los que viven en la riveras que conducen al mercado a mejorar sus frentes mantener mas limpio el sector realmente no me impresionó nada.

Di passaggio a Bangkok prima di arrivare in Cambogia, ho fatto questa bellissima escursione ai mercati galleggianti. Anche se un po' troppo turistico (era una continua sosta delle barche presso i negozi a bordo fiume), la visita è stata divertente! Da provare
