Food part made my husband very sick.

The guide (Ohm?) was super nice and in no way was anything his fault. The places you are supposed to eat at are a health department nightmare. One dessert we were supposed to try was some gross custard thing. The man was flipping them in a skillet with his bare hand while smoking a cigarette in the other. All food places were really dirty and made me wonder if rats or vermin cam in at night. Just avoid the street food in general. The last place we went my husband found a price of metal in his soup. He was sick for 3 days. Take the guided tour but don’t do the food part. I liked the ancient cities very much.

A Great trip to Ayutthaya with a lot of delicious food

Really interesting tour with our guide Ohm who is speaking fluemntly English. Ohm has a wide specter of knowledge about Thai history - really interesting to listen to what he can tell about Ayutthaya and Thai history. And you have to pay good attention - he is asking you control question afterwards - We did unforunately not pass that test:-) Also very good and authentic food along the way - breakfast-lunch and dinner - all served in local markets and restaurants. Make sure you do not eat a big breakkfast before the tour! And the driver brought us safe home to our hotel after eight hour trip.This is a highly recommended trip - good value for money. Everything went smoothly - thank you for the trip!

Amazing Sasa was THE best

We could not be happier about this tour, Sasa was the perfect guide for this, she has so much energy and for us all the food that she gave us was amazing, it was more than just a day trip to Ayutthaya, she knows so much about history that she answered all of our questions, and again all the food that she gave us was fantastic.

Informative, fun and filling!

Excellent mix of culture and culinary discoveries. Be prepared to taste variety of foods and lots of it. Our tour guide, Sa SA, took time to inform us the culture and history of Attutayah. She was attentive and fun. She made sure to answer questions and encouraged us to taste different foods. Her English was very clear. The pictures that Sa Sa took was downloaded and emailed to us in a timely matter. This was a great bonus. A group of 5 travelers: husband, wife, senior citizen, 20 and 15 year olds. Since it’s a private tour, Sa Sa was very accommodating to our needs. It was a very fun and fulfilling tour. We highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful tour with lots of variety

We spent a lovely day with Sasa from Taste of Thailand Food Tours exploring Ayutthaya's temples, markets and shops. Our guide and driver were courteous and our day was a well balanced and full schedule. There is much to see and explore in Ayutthaya and we were able to go between temples and tastings with ease. This tour is a great way to explore the history and temples while also enjoying some of the local life of the community. I highly recommend this as a day trip from Bangkok.

Best Tour in Thailand

My husband and I were in Thailand for three weeks and took several tours. This was the best by far. Our guide Ohm was a wealth of knowledge not just about the history of Ayutthaya but about local food, culture, and all things Thai. Amazing Day with Bella

Bella took us on a private tour of Ayutthaya and it was the highlight of our time in Thailand. The ancient temples were amazing and Bella's knowledge of he area made everything come alive. The tour also included several stops to sample local food offerings. Everything was delicious and different from anything we had ever eaten before. Wonderful day trip to Ayutthaya!

We had a wonderful tour around Ayutthaya, Siam capital and beautiful Unesco heritage site, with Taste of Thailand Food Tours. Our tour guide, Sasa, walked us around the different temples and ruins, providing interesting information on the history and the architecture, as well as curious stories on food and culture. She is also an excellent photographer and captured nice moments of our tour! We stopped at several food places, tasting excellent Thai street food in a local market, delicious meals at beautiful restaurants and unique sugar treats handmade in front of us! Definitely recommended!

Amazing day out

We booked the private tour early in our holiday to Bangkok to learn about the culture, eat a broad range of fabulous food as well as hopefully receiving useful tips whist in the city. We were not disappointed. We were picked up on time (6.30am) at our hotel by Sar Sar and our driver Mr Dennis. We entered the plush air conditioned mini van and were initially given cold bottles of water. We stopped en route to Ayutthia for a bathroom break and arrived at the first ruins after about 1.5 hours. It was good that we arrived early as we were one of the first tourists to arrive and it was hot but not at the peak of the day. We visited two further ruins in the course of the day and Sar Sar went to great lengths to inform us of the associated history. Early on our trip we went to the local market and had the option of jasmine tea or iced coffee. We had iced coffee and felt part of the making. The man who made the coffee was really friendly and sat down with us at the table. At the market was also had fried tofu, some interesting dough balls with peanuts as well as a sweet potato sample. The market was really interesting and we were two of a handful of western tourists. After the first temple we had boat noodles by the roadside. We had two different bowls each and the flavours were intense and fresh. We were offered more but politely declined. On the way out of the town we went to see how Roti was made and again had the opportunity to sample and take a bag away. The roti is a thin pancake that is rolled up and filled with spun sugar. Really fab. Finally after the third temple we were taken to a restraint next to the river and overlooking a temple. We were offered a variety of food and selected parang chicken and sticky rice and a fresh water fish that was deep fried. Were were left alone for about thirty minutes to enjoy. There was plenty of cold water available during the trip and on two occasions we were given cold towels. Overall the trip exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend.

Ayutthaya food and sights with Taste of Thailand

We booked this day trip from Bangkok to see the ruins of the old capital in Ayutthaya. It did not disappoint. Aoy and our driver picked us up from the Shangri-La hotel about 9. It took an hour in traffic to get to the city and as this tour included food our first stop was the market. I had always wanted to try eating at a market, and this was our first opportunity. We tried several different foods, but our favorite was a coconut milk and green onion sweet and savory cake, (Kanom Krok) made fresh in a large caste iron mold, by a gentleman who was about 80 years old. The ruins themselves comprise numerous sights. The Burmese had destroyed the place in the 18th century and much of its Khmer style ruins have been preserved. We drove between the sites and spent all sorts of time in each. The leisurely pace was welcome, and our guide had detailed information on the history of each. The sites had other visitors but nothing like what we had experienced in Bangkok. Even on a busy day you wouldn’t call it crowded. We had lunch at a local favorite “Boat Noodle” where you could get small bowels of fantastic noodles and beef or chicken. Most locals order 4-5 each. Two were more than enough for each of us. A word on travel in Thailand. It is hot. We each had great clothing (you are required to cover shoulders and knees for temple sites) and even with this and cooling cloths and my wife’s small battery powered fan as pasty 60 yr old midwesterners we found it essential to be able to retreat to an air-conditioned van between stops. Even in November expect heat indices well into the 90s. That said, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Stops at a pulled sugar and Roti factory (really a small basement shop/production) and another at a shop where they tried to teach us how to weave a fish (sort of did it) competed the experience. We finished off with a meal including local giant fresh water prawn and curry, with another dish of “morning glory”, all of which were at a nicely appointed place next to the Chao Phraya river. Overall we couldn’t have had a better time. Recommend highly.

Wonderful Day

We enjoyed a wonderful day visiting Ayutthaya. Sasa was well informed and was so patient to explain the sites and customs. We enjoyed the open market tour and the opportunity to meet local people. The lunch at the end of the tour was delicious as well. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Great day trip!

We experienced a wonderful day with our guide Sasa and driver. They were so knowledgable of the area and we had a really fun day. We experienced the local market, a number of the old wats and sites in the city and the food was great at every stop. Highly recommended!!

Amazing!! the food was all delicious

We travel alot and I must say this was one of the best tour excursion we have taken. Bella was amazing and very knowledgeable about the thai food and Ayutthaya. She showed us the market and we started off with some dumplings and ice thai tea and coffee. She explained the city and ruins and the importance of it, something new for us. It was a very hot day and loved having these food rest. Bella absolutely was prepared she had hand wipes, refreshing cold water in the car and snack stops! Also she takes beautiful pictures so she was our photographer for the day :) I highly recommend this tour

Our tour guide made our excursion to these ruins so meaningful and educational. She absolutely thought of everything from hand wipes, refreshing cool drinks and snacks to fun side stops. Highly recommend this tour and our outstanding guide Anya.

Good mix of temples and food tasting

Apart from the long journey times to and from the attractions (1.5 hrs each way) it was a great tour. Spectacular palaces/ temples and food tasting stops. Most of it is outdoors so not advisable in thchot season.

I think the tour is not bad but just too hot, we were there on the end of May, the tempature is 37 c, I can't enjoy too much,but we do enjoy the boat noodle and some dersert ,this tour with food tasty too, so we do enjoy some of local favour.

Fantastic day

Bella did a wonderful job accommodating us with our 9mo daughter. The food on this trip was some of the best and most unique that we had in Thailand. We were so full by the end! Bella was very knowledgeable so we learned a lot of cool stuff about the history of the city and Thai culture. She even took pictures of us and the different locations so we have so many great photos. Would recommend to anyone even though the price was a little steep. We thought it was worth it for the private tour.

Couldn’t have been more Surprised and Happy

We were fortunate enough to stumble upon this tour through a travel company. We were initially nervous as my wife is an extremely picky eater, and were not sure how our guide would handle her request, fortunately Bella was a very gracious and understanding host who ensured that my wife was able to eat at every location. Also, Bella was very knowledgeable on the area we visited and provided insight beyond what we could have just read via the UNESCO signs which are posted everywhere. Finally, Bella ensured that we had pictures to take home from this day trip. Totally worth the price.

LADY GANG OF BANGKOK

Sasa was absolutely wonderful so knowledgeable with the temple tours and just the culture in general. We ate felicitous tofu at the local market and were treated to the most delicious local fruit! We then went to eat and got a treat of roti and spun sugar, OMG it was amazing! We also ate boat noodles and rice noodles and the flavors were to die for! We made it to three temples and everyone was beautiful! So much to look and and learn from Sasa whole also being entertained beyond belief! We went to three different temples where we had plenty of time to take pictures as well as SASA was taking pictures for us which she will send to us for memories! My favorite part was getting to see the Buddha head in the tree at the last temple. She was so energetic and enthusiastic about her job. She didn't make it feel like a boring tour it was more like we were walking with a friend. I highly recommend her for any tour you choose! Best money we have spent on the trip! The best way to discover the autenthic Ayutthaya

We had a wonderful experience with Jung (french speaking guide) who made us discover an authentic Ayutthaya through the visit of the historical centers and also through the food habits of Thai and even more specifically Ayutthaya people. We were a 2 families composed of 3 adults and 4 children (from 6y to 13y) but everyone managed to follow and found its interests. Definitely to be recommended.

Wonderful tour! Our guide was Joker. He was excellent. Very prompt, good english, and tons of information. We felt very comfortable and had a nice AC van. Drive takes 1.5 hrs the tour has tons of delicious food. The ruins are amazing, great tour company! Great experience!

Great, inexplicable day!

What a fantastic day. We met our tour guide, Katy, promptly in our hotel lobby and we hopped in a very comfortable van for the ride from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. It was HOT, but we brought umbrellas and ToT had cold water and cloths for us. Our guide provided us with SO MUCH fascinating information on the history of Ayutthaya, Thailand and local food. She even made sure she gave us tips for traveling around the country since it was the first full day we were in Thailand (we like to go on a tour the first day we arrive somewhere so our jetlagged brains don't have to remember logistics - we can just sit back and be taken care of!). We ate SO MUCH food. Scratch that. We ate so much DELICIOUS food. This really was the perfect tour to start off our 11 day travels of Thailand as it got us very comfortable with the region's food. Katy was amazing as was our driver. I had a very eloquent review already written in my head by the time our tour was done in December. Getting back home to the states and settling back into life and finally having time to sit down and write this review, I feel like I'm at a loss of all the great things I wanted to say about this tour. I'm looking through the pictures Katy sent us and the ones we took and I'm overwhelmed with just fantastic memories. Throughout the rest of our time in Thailand I'd say to my partner "remember how great that Ayutthaya trip was?" or "oh! It's just like Katy told us!". We didn't remember the heat, we just remember how incredibly this day was and it was one of our highlights in Thailand.

Excellent food and visit tour!

First advice: as recommended on other reviews, do not eat breakfast before! We did this tour as a small group of 3 friends. We did not really know it was a food tour but this was a good surprise. Everything is tasty, and we ended so full that we did not eat in the evening! Our guide, Katy, was very kind and helpful. Her english is great and we could understand all of her explanations. She answered our questions, described not only the history of the places we visited but also details about life in Thailand in general. She was very patient, kind and taking care of us, be sure that we had enough food, water, time to take pictures and go around temples. We spent an amazing time with her. She made this tour even better than we expected! The tour itself was splendid, pick up at our accommodation, visit of temples and local markets, we could have a picture of local's life, met very friendly people, and taste delicious local food. Definitely recommend this tour, and Katy as your tour guide!

Ayutthaya Day Trip

My husband and I had an amazing time on this trip. We were pick up on time from the hotel and our tour guide Jum was excellent with her knowledge of Ayutthaya and the local area. As this was a food tour we did several stops to try the local food including a local market and a couple of local restaurants by the way the Boat Noodles were fabulous. The whole day was great to see how the locals eat and also visiting Ayutthaya with an excellent guide (thanks Jum). I would recommend this tour and would consider signing up for another tour with this company when back in Thailand.

Discover an amazing place while trying food you would never try on your own.

We did this tour late December with my wife and 3 kids (12-10-5). We didn’t know it was a “food” tour bit it ended being a positive surprise. You mix between eating local food and visiting the sites as Ayutthaya. The guide spoke very good English and had a lot of patience considering 3 young boys were together. Great explanations and even better food. We went to places we would never go on our own and she ordered for us what we should try (nothing creepy but still nothing we would ask on our own). We visited a local place were local cotton candy (not what you are expecting) was made and this was definitely a highlight. Highly recommended, go hungry!

An educating trip you shouldn't miss

Let's start with the most practical advice: don't have breakfast before the trip!!! Our tourgide Ms Panisara (Bella) was amazing. First of all - non Thai English speakers will understand - her English was PERFECT! She was funny, educative and caring. Apart historical and cultutural backgrounds of every site we have been visited she told a lot about the everyday Thai life, Buddhism and of course the Thai kitchen. We tasted a lot of different meals along the trip. Everything went on scbedule from hotel pickup till drop off. After this amazing trip now we can distinguish Chineese, Thai and Cambodian Buddha images :) To the last but not least she was our personal photographer during the trip. Totally recommanded!!! Fantastic food and cultural tour in one!

Our private tour to Ayutthaya was fantastic and was as much a cultural and historic tour as it was about the food. Our guide, Jum, picked us up on schedule and gave us the background of Bangkok and Ayutthaya on the way out of town. We visited a market, tried a number of things and you could tell our guide knew everyone - even buying things for herself. She knew so much about each of the temples we visited. It was so great to learn about the history while soaking in all the flavors. The end of the tour took us to a quaint restaurant set on the river where we got to try more than enough food! You won't leave hungry and if you eat too much you can just nap one the way home. We had mentioned to Jum that it was our honeymoon and at the end she presented us with a little gift from one of the markets we visited. We felt very welcomed, and like we got a true taste of the real Thailand. Would recommend to anyone!

Our trip to Ayutthaya was fenomenal!

My 2 teenage boys, my wife and I had a great time at Ayyuthaya. Our Guide, Mrs. Yum did a great job. She knew the history of the place very well and she spoke very good English as well. It all started with the vehicle which was clean, cool, and spacious. In Ayutthaya, she took us to palaces and temples and always she explained the historical or cultural context of what we were going to see, and as a bonus, she took amazing pictures of us! She also took us to very interesting food places. Yum was always courteous and was doing her best to make ourselves comfortable.

Excellent tour of Ayutthaya based on Thai food!

My family and I had a great time. Katy was good, giving us the history of Ayutthaya as she led us from one wonderful food place to temple to food place, etc. Great overview of the ancient history of Siam through the food. We paid $188 (SGD) per person for this tour and we have no regrets whatsoever. From street food at the Hua Ro wet market to the delicious boat noodles at the restaurant whose name we didn't get ... we had an enjoyable time sampling true Thai food cooked the Thai way for Thais. The only issue we had was the restaurant at the end of the tour. The kitchen was very slow, and the food took too long to arrive. I would advise, for that part, just ordering one or two of the best dishes the restaurant has to offer. They couldn't cope with an order of 4 dishes. In the end, we just ate 3 dishes as the last would take too long to cook. The cooking was very authentic local Thai, but the wait was just too long.

Excellent Tour! Highly Recommend!

Bella and Heng were our tour guides for our private tour to Ayutthaya. It was such a great day! Bella and Heng were very friendly and very knowledgable about the history of Ayutthaya. All the food offered during the tour were also delicious! We enjoyed visiting the local food market and sampling the local foods; and then seeing how local desserts are made. All in a all a great experience.

Great Ayutthaya and Food tour!

Joker our tour guide is the main reason why this trip is amazing. Even under the intense heat of the sun, he sees to it that we had fun and learned so much with their history and culture. Food in the Ayutthaya area, esp the Boat Noodle and the Roti Sai Mai is simply the best! Mr. Sol (the 2nd best driver in the world accdg to Joker) is very efficient. He sees to it that we have a very cold towel every time we get back to the car. Highly recommended!

Must-do Tour!

If you're looking for an overview of Thailand - temples, food, history, culture, experiencing little out-of-the-way places - book the Private Tour: Ayutthaya Day Trip from Bangkok. We were picked up by our guide, Jum, and a driver in an air-conditioned newer van from our hotel. We went directly to the main temple at Ayutthaya before the majority of the crowds descended upon it. Along the way, Jum told us much about the history of the area. Our favorite stop was the market near the temple, where we tasted little delicacies of the region. Everyone knew Jum and, in turn, made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Great day trip to Ayutthaya and tasting of Thai food

Hubby & I booked a full day trip to visit the old capital, Ayutthaya. We were picked up promptly at our hotel By Jum (guide) and Mr. Lim (driver) to start our adventure. Jum's very knowledgeable about Thai history and had lots of stories and details to talk about on our one hour drive to Ayutthaya. Not only did we see the grounds and ruins of throughout the city, but we also went into markets (got a shirt for Songkran), food stalls, a place that makes candy and tasted many other local delights. I know Taste of Thailand advertises their food tours as giving you a lot of food: believe them!! I thought this tour was going to focus more on history, but the food tasting was a bigger feature than expected, much to our delight. Jum checked with us upfront about what spice levels we liked and would call ahead for food to be freshly prepared when we arrived. Jum even mentioned some other night tours we would have loved to fit in. Next time! We both highly recommend Taste of Thai to any group. They did an excellent job.

Our best day in Bangkok!

A truly amazing day with Joker. Pick up on time, everything ran perfect throughout the day. Joker was extremely knowledgeable, and was rightly proud of Thailand. The food stops were plentiful and a total immersion into Thai culture. Highly recommend this wonderful day out. Looking forward to receiving the link of the photos from the day.

Amazing way to send the day.

My Dive group and I met for the first time in Bangkok and decided to take the Private Tour: Ayutthaya Day Trip from Bangkok with Taste of Thailand Food Tours. Our guide, Katy, met us at the hotel at 8a - and the adventure began - we drove for just over an hour to Ayutthaya as we got to know each other a little better. When we arrived, Katy took us into some local fresh market and then began to explain in great detail the food, the culture, and the history behind the items she was purchasing. As we went through the Market, Katy picked up more items and then found us a spot to sit and we all tucked in and enjoyed the first of many meals. It was an immersive day trip, being in the heart of local markets, eating with the locals and hearing their history. As the day progressed we visited a number of Temple's and Katy again did an amazing job explaining the history behind what we were seeing - she provided ample time for questions and photos and we walked leisurely around the grounds. Not once did we feel rushed. Then more food - an amazing soup at a local outdoor restaurant. Then more food - we went to a great restaurant where she ordered a variety of dishes including River Prawns (see Pic) and make sure we where well taken care of. Katy is an amazing guide - and this is a highly recommend trip

Taste of Thailand - The Great Ayutthaya Adventure

Really fantastic trip with Joker today - wonderful food, culture immersion, language, and history - an enriching experience for all ages (9 year old, parents and mother and mother in law). Highly recommended!

We have been to Thailand 20+ times over the past 15 years and have spent a lot of time in Bangkok, in the north, and on the islands, but had never visited Ayutthaya. We found the Ayutthaya Day Trip from Bangkok (Private Tour) by Taste of Thailand Food Tours on Viator and chose Taste of Thailand because of the large number 5-star ratings and positive comments. We also liked the idea of mixing some visits to temples/ruins with some food sightseeing, as we find that sometimes, too many visits to historical sites one right after another can get monotonous and a little boring. We also liked that it was private because we like to go at our own pace. The tour officially starts at 8am but we requested a 9am start instead. We didn’t get a confirmation for the change so we called the day before and they told us it was fine. At 9am we were met in our hotel lobby by Tamie and we hopped into a large, comfortable, air conditioned van and made our way to Ayutthaya in just over one hour. Tamie was friendly from the very start and went over the itinerary with us and our goals for the day. she told us a little about the history of Ayutthaya (that’s when we learned it is pronounced ah-yoo-TEE-yah) , and then we snoozed for a bit while the driver sped us along. We arrived at Ayutthaya and started at a food market. Tamie pointed out a number of local foods and bought samples for us to try. We knew many of them already so we declined some, but others were new to us (even with all of our years coming to Bangkok) and it was a nice and tasty way to start the tour. The driver met us at the other end of the market and we drove a short distance to the first temple site. We explored the site and Tamie told us the history, and also (rather responsibly) made sure the tourists around us didn’t ruin the experience by acting disrespectfully around the temples by climbing where they shouldn’t or posing for pictures while not being properly dressed. From there we visited a small, family-run Thai dessert bakery/factory which was a fun and interesting diversion. We veered from the tour’s official plan and opted for a different temple that had been restored and is in use. After that we visited a local restaurant and enjoyed some noodles, and then went to another set of temple ruins, this one near the Queen Mother’s palace. After that we explored a restaurant located on a compound owned by a prominent Thai family and ate giant prawns and delicious Thai eggplant salad on the restaurant’s boat docked on the river. Altogether, it was a really lovely day. we appreciated Tamie’s professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. She spoke excellent English and was eager to make sure we had a nice time, even when it meant changing the plan a little.

The Great Ayutthaya Adventure !

Thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with the Taste of Thailand group! Joker and KT were both very knowledgeable and spoke clear English. The ancient city was beautiful and interesting to see and hear about. Breaking up the tour with multiple stops for snacks and lunch (which were delicious) was a great way to round out the day. Highly recommend!
