Maeklong market needs more time

We enjoyed this tour however we felt the time spent at the Maeklong train market was far too short it would have been nice to have time to shop and have lunch here rather than the floating market. The ride in the boat at the floating market is great but better spending more time at the Maeklong market

Great experience!

A very well organised trip. Included both catching the train into the market and then watching it leave. A definite sight to see. The floating market was an experience too! The guide was very attentive and looked after us well. Great day.

Fun day at the markets

The railway market was the best part of the tour ! It is chaotic and orderly at the same time ! Enjoyed every bit of it! Floating market was a new experience

Crowded frantic but worth it …

Maybe not recommended for people who are claustrophobic and sensitiv to odours. For us an experience we would not want to miss.

An okay tour

Trip started and ended on time. Our guide pointed out that it’s high season and if we chose the train ride we would likely have to stand. Group elected to stay in the van. I’d have preferred the train ride as it’s why I booked this tour. Train market is quite authentic and lots to see but we were mainly rushed to see the train arrive. The floating market exists for tourists only. The boat ride is fun. Lunch here is very affordable

Well organized although tourist kept sell much experience.

The best was our tourist guide. Nice and experienced. All was as scheduled and in program. Although that are both touristic places kept and existing for tourists only. The train at least remains some memories. Floating market (this one) terrible experience. Just to sell more and no real people or homes.

If you’re in Bangkok don’t miss this opportunity!

This was a great day with a great guide. Taking the train to the market to see how it feels & then being on the side of tracks as it goes by was so cool. Tim, our guide gave us great info on what we’d see on the train trip through the countryside. Then as he led us through the market to see the next train go by he brought us to a fantastic spot to view & experience it. Next the long boat by paddle versus engine was fantastic. The engines are sooo loud!!! What a fantastic opportunity to see a true market on the canal/river. And of course our guide Tim gave us lots of insight on where to make purchases & even more importantly where to avoid. My only feedback is it would be nice to have more time to wander the markets but given the drive time to & from Bangkok-& the Bangkok traffic on the way back-I understand that there is only so much time to experience both the train & floating markets. This is a must see adventure when in Bangkok!!!

An interesting & fun day out

Both the railway and floating markets were fascinating places to visit. Our guide, Khun Sara and driver, Khun Aok were both very helpful. The mini-bus was more comfortable than some experienced, too. Khun Sara supplied lots of information and also introduced us to a small village temple - quite different to many others - as we were early for our train. This trip took us to a station ahead of where most tours alight so we were almost guaranteed good seats - a real bonus. Everything was arranged well, including boat trip at the floating market, plus the lunch stop there (a small extra charge) was good. Tour finished in central Bangkok by a main BTS station to make return hotel travel easy and avoid over-priced taxis at the River City start point - again very thoughtful. This was a short day trip, so allowed plenty of time to explore in Bangkok on return, too.

Overall excellent experience.

Started on time. Delivered as described. Guide very concerned with safety and wellbeing of group. Throwback experience to local life as it was in Bangkok 30-40 years ago. Be aware that it is very hot humid and need to be physically agile for this experience.

Trip to the floating markets

We had a great trip and were so pleased we went. The tour guide was great and we were very well looked after all day. The train ride to the floating markets gave us a real sense of life in Thailand and the experience at the markets was incredible. The food we had was enjoyable too. The only thing I would have changed was to suggest a hotel pick up or a more central meeting point to navigate to in Bangkok.

Good experience but will not do it twice

It’s really crowded and be there for taking photos with a train. It’s really far from bangkok, not worth your time. I rather to spend my time seeing beaches and hiking.

Memorable trip to Floating and Railway Markets!

We recently visited the Railway market and Floating market near Bangkok. Our tour guide Mindy was awesome. She explained all the historical background about the markets on the way to the markets. Both the markets are an hour away from Bangkok. We went on the train to the Mae Klong market from Ban Kalong which was a great experience. The railway market is worth visiting. After that we drove for 20 min to reach the Floating market. You can get lot of good food and souvenirs (haggling is allowed) at the floating market. Overall we really enjoyed the 6 hours tour. Highly recommended.

Not really worth it.

Trip was a very long drive, 2 hours both ways for an experience not really worth the driving. Guide was friendly and helpful but same as with a lot of guides in Asia her knowledge of English was not sufficient to be guiding. We weren't able to make our initial booking since one of us got sick during the night prior to the tour, so we had trouble rebooking and had to pay an additional cash fee of 1000 Baht.

A unique experience!

This was an amazing experience! Victor, our guide, was great!! They did not pick us up at the hotel- like we thought- and we had to find transportation to the pier and back from a drop off point. Just something to know. It was a lot of driving- maybe 3-4 hours total to and from from Bangkok. But worth it. Bring Baht, no one takes anything other than cash. Bring sunscreen and bug spray- it was hot!! There is a lunch stop, but lunch is not included. The tour actually goes via longboat through the canals. We had a great time! We rode the train too, which was fun.

Not happy with different drop off.

The tour guide was good. It was hard at times for her to keep people on time. My main concern was that I signed up for this particular tour because it left from River City Bangkok and said it returned to that starting location. It did not - we were dropped at the MBK mall. I had no idea where I was; the guide just said catch a cab; and it took me a while to get back to my location as I do not have a Thailand SIM card I would have done the less expensive tour that was leaving from River City Bangkok and ending at different location.

Tour guide never picked...

Tour guide never picked me up. Was then told to get a taxi to the meeting spot. Was then told I wouldn’t make it in time and they wouldn’t wait for me. Had to get a refund. I ended up calling a taxi and going by myself.

Train and floating markets

We started our journey at River City shopping centre where we met our guide Tanya. There was a short drive to a drive in centre where we stopped for about 40 mins to buy coffee and breakfast we then drove onto the train station. On arrival we were shown the salt fields and Tanya explained how these fields were used to harvest the salt, we then had time to take pictures before the train came for our onward journey into the market. If you were quick (and fortunate) you could get a seat on the train and view the market stalls that are set out over the train tracks lift their awnings and move out of the way of the oncoming train. A wonderful experience where the market crowd outside were cheering and waving to the train passengers just inches away! We were then taken to the floating market, where Tanya continued to share her knowledge about Thailand and the area with the tourist group, her experience, laughter and friendliness shone throughout the day! As there was a queue for the river market boats when we arrived, Tanya suggested we have some time to stroll around the ‘normal’ market and buy some lunch and refreshments (Pad Thai was about 100 bahts and drives 50 bahts). We then got into the boats and slowly rowed the river past the stalls on the banks, where the traders will try and sell you their wares, remember this is their living after all! It was another great experience and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai culture and markets!

A great day

On this tour we had a fantastic guide, and great photo opportunities. The train ride was fun. I would recommend.

Awesome trip but poor guide.

The two markets are both unique experiences and well worth the trip but our guide was very inexperienced, hardly spoke English and had no clue of what was going to happen next and what visitors would normally need to know. There were plenty of small groups travelling with other guides so we ended up asking them about the program and locations.

Too rushed

The experience would have been great if it wasn’t so rushed. There was no time to enjoy it. If you just want to see it and snap a few photos, then this is the trip for you. We are a family of six and hardly had enough time to use the restroom, let alone grab a souvenir or relax and soak it all in.

Nice half-day relaxed sight seeing in Bkk

The Tour was awesome. The guide, Viktor, was very nice and made sure everyone was taken care of and comfortable. He spoke very clear English and I learned a lot about the History of the places we went to. The places chosen for the tour and the duration spend was also very good planned.

Good tour and tour guide. Transport needs improvement.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was always willing to help with advice and give suggestions for follow up visits. The pace of the tour was also good - not rushed. The minibus we took had issues. The bus ride was 2 hours either way. Air-conditioning was not working properly and everyone in the bus were affected by the heat. It did not seem like the aircon was working properly and although we got back quickly, the speed it took caused quite a few bumps here and there on the road.

The awesome train! The floating market to the regret of motorboats

The train is impressive, so close to the homes, the market, the traders... incredible! I had seen it on TV but in real life, it’s huge! A very very interesting experience!!! The floating market, too bad so many motor boats, it ruined everything for us. Breathing the bad smell of gasoline, horrible!

Beautiful experience

Worth visiting, very special. We have also associated the floating market. I recommend buying them together and not doing them alone, as you would spend more. There are many stalls along the railway, the prices are not high, despite being touristy, in fact some things cost less than in Bangkok. When the train arrives, the stalls raise their awnings and you have to find a place to stand, as the train passes a few centimeters away. 2 trains pass in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. I recommend stopping halfway along the route.

To flee!

Transport by mini van very painful. We were sitting, stuck in the back. No legroom, no shock absorbers and no view. A coffin on wheels. Claustrophobic, run away! 2 hours of driving like this is painful. Rough guide. Not very organized and without explanations.

Wer auf diesen Markt gehen mag, dem ist dieser Veranstalter absolut zu empfehlen. Wir sind einmal durch den Markt gefahren und haben dann noch geschaut wie er durch den Markt fährt. Floating Market halte ich für eine überflüssige Touristenveranstaltung, aber okay…

100% recomendable

Excelente. Estuvieron a tiempo en el punto de encuentro. Buena organización. Me habría gustado estar más tiempo en el mercado en las vías del tren para poder comprar cosas. Al regreso, te dejan en el MBK que es una especie de mall donde hay muchísimas cosas a comprar a buenos precios. Cuidado con los lugares de souvenirs, siempre venden todo carísimo. Recomiendo el tour al 100%

Vale la pena

Un recorrido con un grupo pequeño en una minivan. Bien organizado, la guía, Kiwi, era una mujer muy amable y nos dio buenos tips en ambos mercados. Pudimos observar la llegada del tren al mercado tanto desde el tren como desde el mercado. Después acudimos al mercado flotante, donde tomamos un bote y posteriormente comimos muy rico. El regreso fue al MBK center, no al riverside

Me esperaba mejor trato.

Primero de todo, nada más resecar nos contactaron para decirnos que nos cancelaban por overbooked así que nos daban la opción de cambiarlo al día siguiente al que habíamos reservado!! Bueno a ver si tienes ya los planes hechos pues nada podes reembolso que duran mínimo 5 días!! Después se supone que en la página online pone la hora de empezar a las 09:00 pero después de reservar te dicen que tienes que estar en el punto de encuentro a las 08:20, que no se aclaran ni ellos. Llegas ahí te dan un número y luego media hora sin hacer nada.. en fin. La experiencia en sí es bonita y el guía muy amable y pendiente de nosotros pero ya está. Podrían mejorar.
