Lopburi Monkey Temple & Ayutthaya Old City Tour From Bangkok

Totally Unique and Authentic

This is beyond our expectation! We got lucky that there were only us in the group, so it’s kinda private. We went on Monday, so not so crowded. The highlight is the “monkey shepherd-ing”, if you will. It’s such a unique experience, i don’t think you can find anywhere else. And our guide, Piya, is the best. He knows every details! God bless him! 50 bucks per person for this whole day experience is totally worth it. I also argue both Western and Eastern travelers would love this tour! Just watch out for the heat ;)

Excellent day out from Bangkok

Great tours at both sites (temples and monkeys) and Piya was fantastic host, very knowledgeable and great at keeping everyone entertained and enthusiastic!

Ayutthaya + Monkey Trip

Piya was a very interactive and prepared guide. He not only gave the group information about each location but also pointed out all the best spots to grab pictures at. He went above and beyond for the monkey experience by bringing food/drinks for guests to give to the monkeys.

Day with temples and monkeys

Very interesting and funny trip, but it was extremely hot, so it was quite demanding. Beautiful old temple and unforgettable monkey’s town. I come back to Bangkok in good mood.

Great Experience

Very good trip and Piya the guide was very insightful and helpful. Highly recommend. I have been on a few trips with Wandersiam and have only ever had good experiences with them. Don't wear your best clothes as the monkeys climb all over and you will end up smelling like a monkey!

Fun day trip

A very fun and interesting day trip. Monkeys were all over the place, we found it quite interesting. Expect your clothes to get dirty, the monkeys will climb on you with muddy paws

Monkey Temple/Ayutthaya

Had an excellent day! I took a grab to the office in Chinatown, was easy to find. Surin was our guide, she was the best and made the experience. We traveled in a comfortable van with a/c. Mai was an excellent driver. I have done a lot of tours and often travel solo, the guide can really make or break an excursion. 10/10 trip!

Monkeys temple and Ayutthaya old city tour

We were with Thanya, the explanation of the locations we saw was perferct. Also Thanya told us a lot of stories about the everyday thai life, common stuffs and very interesting stories about thai culture. Very interesting tour overall!

The monkey temple

The temples were beautiful and the tour guide was very passionate. Seeing and taking pictures with the monkeys was amazing

Very good and sweaty tour

We started the tour on time. Our guide (Piya) was very knowledgeable and energetic. We saw beautiful temples and he took beautiful pictures of us. Monkey temple didn’t meet my expectations, as they live in very poor conditions and the town itself is filthy and there is nothing else to do besides feeding the animals.

Really great experience

It was a great experience and well organized. The guide Piya was really nice and explained us a lot of things. The tour started in Bangkok and took us to Ayutthaya Where we visited three temples. We had lunch together and we got to Lopburi to have fun with monkeys and a lot of photos too :) Highly recommended!

Great trip out of Bangkok!

The guide is very friendly and teaches a lot of things about what we see! He also takes us some great pictures in perfect spots! Cherry on the cake is the meeting with the monkeys where you can feed them and take some pictures with them!

Worthy tour.

It’s always nice when the tour guide appears to love what they do. Piya was excellent and was very knowledgeable. He also took really good pictures for us. It was definitely a tour worth going on. The monkeys were a bit scary, but it was an experience of a lifetime.

Good balance of temples and monkeys 😁

Great day! Started off with a really good tour of three different temples in Ayutthaya. Piya had a lot of knowledge to share and knew all the best spots for photos. Just be women be sure to wear pants that come at least to the knees and have something to cover shoulders and cleavage. Seems like scarves are fine we saw others doing that. My favourite part we're the monkeys in Lopbury, he takes you around for a tour to see monkeys sitting around town. Then to a temple with lots of monkeys. Here Piya shares food with you so that the monkeys come and climb on you. Make sure to wear clothes you don't care about, we were covered in dirt after. I had 5 monkeys on me at one point. It was awesome the monkeys like to be around people. Thank you for a great day Piya!

A day not to be missed

I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Piya is a fantastic guide, knowledgeable about all of the places we went to and the rich history of them, and from start to finish ensured we had a wonderful experience. Every detail of the day was beyond my expectations - transportation was comfortable (and cool!), the places we visited were fascinating and beautiful, and Piya ensured we knew how to be safe - and not lose our belongings! - around the monkeys. Lunch was delicious at a riverside restaurant. I told my sister on the way back to Bangkok that this was the best day I’ve had in awhile and meant every word. This tour is an absolute gem.

Breathtaking ruins, Sweet little monkeys

My sister and I had one of the best experiences ever together on this day trip. The temples and ruins are so striking and learning even a little of the history and age of the place made me feel so lucky to stand in these spots. Piya is the best tour guide ever—super friendly, very knowledgeable. He also kindly guided us to particular spots for great photos. And the monkeys in Lopburi are adorable! It was the hottest time of day when we were there, which was good because they were more lethargic. Piya gave us lots of tips and advice and everything he said was true. We didn’t have to be afraid or nervous at all his good advice and watchful eye. Our driver Frank was also awesome—very friendly, great driver. It was a totally comfortable and pleasant ride. I would recommend this daylong tour to anyone!

Great Tour

Piya was a guide and he is excellent. Very knowledgeable of the temples. But the highlight for me was.Lopburi to see the monkeys. They jumped all over me. Wish I could take one home.

Monkey Temple

The monkeys at the temple were quite an experience. Had to shake one off my back! Surin was a great guide-even brought us bananas from her own yard.

Piya was absolutely incredible on our trip, the pure knowledge that he shared was incredible. Not only his knowledge about the Ayutthaya but the Thai culture in whole. Would definitely use him again in the future, thank you for making our trip memorable!

Temple tour and monkey town

What a wonderful day! Pyia was very knowledgeable and really took the time to explain the history of Thailand and its temples. It was an unforgettable experience that we will cherish forever. Can't wait to share all my photos and stories with friends and family. I couldn't recommend a better tour guide!

Many monkey shots and lots of Thai history

The monkeys were the highlight of the trip. Piya is a great guide, shared many stories about Thai history and took great photos. The food was fantastic and very affordable. The trip could possibly be shortened by cutting out one of the sites - unless you major in Thai history, you won’t really miss it or know the difference. That would get you back to Bangkok 1-2 hours earlier.

Tour guide changed pick...

Tour guide changed pick up location last minute and did not answer phone any of the times I called, so I was unable to verify where I was supposed to go. Van’s air conditioner was not working properly. It was soooo hot in the van… we could not cool off from the outside heat!!’ Guide did not engage with group during ride, very quiet and boring. He could have been explaining what some other things were along the way as the ride was very long and we had never been here before. Great way to share with us some history of other buildings and scenery we passed by. He only shared with us as we pulled up to our attraction sites. I never even knew what the 2 guide/driver’s name was ….???? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Overall good experience

Trip was good and Surin was very informative, only downfall was driver wouldn't drop back off where we was picked up he said due to traffic but that's not what we paid for.

One of my best experience in Thailand

This trip was just insane. After an hour trip we arrived to Ayutthaya to see the Temples. Piya is an amazing guide, showed us around, explained the history and took brilliant pictures. Ready to post instantly. :) Quick lunch and then headed to Monkey Temples, where the real craziness happening. Keep in mind, its not a zoo, these are wide animals, but Piya described well what to do and what not. The monkeys are super cute, especially the small ones. They jump on you, sit on your shoulders, climb on your pants. Incredible. I have never had this type of experiences in my life. Its unforgettable. I made plenty of pictures and videos, as well as Piya. I cant say thank you enough time for him. Wear something dark, because you will be dirty for sure, but it worth. Dont miss this trip, trust me you will remember forever.

An unforgettable adventure

Monkey love!!!

Piya was such a kind and informative tour guide. You can tell he really loves and cares for the monkeys at Lopburi and will make sure you feel safe being around them. The historic sites of Ayutthaya are beautiful and gave us a deeper understanding of Thai history. Highly recommend this excursion!

Absolutelly stunning experience! All the temples are great and close meeting with monkeys is so interesting (but pay attention!). The guide was so gentle, I totally recommend!

Well guided monkey 🐒 trip

Our guide Piya was very nice and knowledgeable. He gave us good history background, found us really nice picture spots for the temples, helped us take a lot of pictures with monkeys. Before we played with the monkeys, he prepped my 11 year old well, so they are not scared and handled the monkeys very well. If you get chance in Bangkok, take a trip with him!

Super amazing ancient city and monkey temple tour

I had an absolutely wonderful time! My guide was named Piya and he was amazing! He spoke fabulous English and explained the history of everything we saw so well. Everything was super well organized and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. I did the monkey temple and ancient city tour and it was an unforgettable experience, that I recommend for anybody that’s wants to have an awesome time!

Great 2-site day tour

Piya was an amazing guide! We had a great time learning about Thai culture and history, visiting the sites, and most importantly seeing the monkeys! He gave us good food recommendations after our tour as well (one of which is now my bf's favorite place to eat Bangkok). Highly recommend. We considered doing a tour of just Ayutthaya, but were glad we found this 2-site tour. Seeing monkeys up close was def worth it.

Temples to monkeys!

My daughter and I had so much fun on this wonderful tour. Our tour guide Piya was full of enthusiasm and knowledge and he made the whole day an experience we will never forget. He gave us an entire background for the temples that we would see. The restaurant that he brought us to for lunch was so peaceful by the river with excellent cuisine. The most fun we had was hanging with the monkeys and having them climb on our arms and getting the chance to feed them. We will treasure the memories and the photos of this experience!
