Incredible cultural adventure

Our tour guide Noina was an absolute gem. She picked us up in the lobby of our hotel downtown Bangkok and we drove south toward the floating market. Along the way she shared a massive amount of information about Thai living, history and culture. We stopped at a small family run coconut (farm?) where she showed us how they use the whole fruit to produce coconut sugar, lotion, bowls, etc. we were able to see their traditional home as well, which we were so grateful for. It was beautiful and really lovely to see something so uniquely local and hands-on. We went on to the floating market- the canal ride was a blast. The market itself was a little overwhelming (LOTS of vendors wanting your business) but plenty of shopping opportunities. Noina gave us advice on bargaining, which was kind and showed us her favorite food vendors - fresh fruit, coconut pancakes, mango and sticky rice, etc. We had a buffet style lunch on a boat just outside the market, which was a nice way to sample a variety of Thai food. We took an alternate route back to Bangkok, passing shrimp farms and more countryside life. The Grand Palace was unimaginably huge and beautiful and we were beyond grateful to have Noina to explain the history and significance and give us a proper tour - I can only imagine how overwhelmed we would have been to navigate it on our own. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. Noina was amazing and we had wonderful time.

Fabulous Tour!!!

Our tour guide was Great! She made the experience a really fantastic one! She was attentive, informative but also unobtrusive, which was nice! The floating market may have become touristy but honestly my husband and I enjoy seeing and doing some of the touristy stuff while on vacation. It was actually a really fun experience and the food phenomenal! So don’t miss it based on anyone saying it’s a bit touristy! The market shopping was similar between booths but still fun! Negotiating over the Best Buy kept it entertaining! The Grand Palace was so worth seeing! If you see one thing while in Bangkok this would be It! It was one of the few places I have visited where the beauty was impossible to describe and being well traveled and slightly jaded I can say in all honesty this surpassed my expectations on every level! It was probably one of the most awe inspiring sites I have ever seen! All and all if you are deciding between tours I can definitely say I liked this one extremely well and I liked the private tour since it was 100 percent on our time table and pace! Definite worth the money!

Our tour guide Cat, was amazing! She was very knowledgeable of the places we went! She even took us extra places to shop! The floating Market was exceptional! Enjoyed very much!!

Places We Never Would Have Found

TravelHub met us at our cruise ship and drove us to Bangkok. We saw the Damnoen Saduak floating market, cruised the canals and took us to the amazing train market. People use the train tracks for their market path. The train comes between buildings 8x a day and when it does when it does, people have to clear a path. Once it's gone, the market is instantly back to business! TravelHub met us at our hotel early the next morning to get our day in, and get us back to our ship in time.

Also made it customizable since we were the only couple for the trip. IT was very comfortable, and definitely would recommend for anyone.</p>

<p>Not much added value except transportation. The tour guide could not provide much more history or cultural knowledge that we can get by basic google research. There's only one route to walk about the floating market. Tour excludes boat ride in the actual floating market. <br/> Pros: private, hotel pick up drop off<br/> Neutral: tour guide's English<br/> Cons: Knowledge of religion is sub-par.<br/> Itinerary:<br/> Morning: <br/> Coconut sugar and by-product factory - Elephant ride we skipped this due to animal cruelty - woodwork shop - boat ride to the floating market - Floating market on foot<br/> Lunch buffet at a hotel package excludes drinks<br/> Afternoon:<br/> Grand palace and Wat Phra</p>

This was a fun and interesting day...

<p>This was a fun and interesting day trip. They were very accommodating of our busy schedules as well as pick up and drop off places. The colorful floating market was wonderful and the Palace was also very interesting. Our tour guide was a delightful young woman who spoke English quite well. She is an enthusiastic Buddhist. Be aware that at the temple of the jade buddha, not all visitors are allowed in all areas specifically if you're not Thai and probably Buddhist but the sign specifically said Thai. I also loved the first stop: the coconut factory so very interesting. HOWEVER, I would not recommend buying many of the wares at the coconut stop since you will find them for a better price in the Floating Market. We were very happy paying what we paid and felt it was well worth it. We tipped our guide and the driver, too, who was absolutely delighted to receive something.</p>

<p>Thanks to the Guide - we enjoyed this tour - informative-full of fun - morning part of the tour - worthy 2.5hr drive each way.<br/> The afternoon part of the tour provided us with the inside knowledge of the basis of Buddhism - although we expected more from the visit to Emerald Buddha Shrine - and expectations of closer participation in mourning of the deceased King.</p>

<p>What a great experience. Ms. Cat was a great tour guide. We chose to walk around the market instead of taking another boat around the market waterways because when we looked at the environment, many boats were sitting still for long periods due to incredible crowds. The Grand Palace was a little limited since King Rama IX remains laying in state so areas were restricted, but we still felt like we got to see and learn a lot. As with all the temples we saw on this trip, Wat Phra Kheo, was beautiful.</p>

<p>Great day tour. Only drawback is that the floating market is not what it used to be. It is now mainly a fixed series of souvenir vendors with the river congested with floating tourists and very few food or market vendors. Still makes for good photos.</p>
