Jan was our host and she was fantastic - she knew all the backstreets and out of the way eating places we never would have found and probably wouldn’t be able to find again! The food was great and there was certainly plenty of it! We got to see and taste a,side of Bangkok which we would never have done otherwise. Would highly recommend Jan as your guide if she is available.

Unique experience in bustling Chinatown

The tour was amazing and an unique experience. We discovered hidden places and food stalls we never would have found on our own. We tried so many different dishes from snacks and simple to high end dishes, sweets and savory. Our Guide Chantana was excellent, she gave us a lot of extra insider information.

Great tour

A really fun tour with great food and also great company from Jan (Chantana) who not only guided us to places we'd never have found but was also informative about both food and heritage, and the history of Chinatown in Bangkok. She even sent photos afterwards. We had to substitute one of the usual dishes on the tour but they were replaced by shrimp gyoza, fried, and unlike any gyoza I've ever tasted. I'm still thinking of that dish even now!

We arrived in Bangkok to be overwhelmed with street food vendors and restaurants, which ones to use, best places, how much should we be paying etc So we decided to do a food tour, after some research we settled on this tour, our host was the lovely Jan, she sent us a bunch of info on the best ways to get the the meet point, we got straight into it, visiting a local temple, so this wasn't just a food tour, we also got a local knowledge guide, telling us all about the history as well as how the food was influenced by the past. We visited some amazing places that you'd never find on google or websites etc, gave us inside tips on what to look for to stay safe, how to pronounce the essential phrases in thai, introduced us to foods not on the menu, and even got the beers in! Nothing was to much trouble, you could also tell the places and people we visited had a respect for Jan which was lovely. Everyone in the group was treated fairly and we had so much food, I think it's the most I've ever eaten! This tour set us up for the rest of our culinary time in Thailand, recommended Thanks again Jan for a great evening 😀

Excellent Bangkok Street Food Tour with Chantana

Our guide Chantana was super friendly and knowledgeable; she introduced us not only to some great eats but also a variety of really interesting and fun off the beaten path locations that we would never have come across on our own. Amazing food tour

The Secret food tour with tour guide Jan was amazing. The tour was jam packed with very cool out of the box stops! I thoroughly enjoyed it as I felt it was places I would never have known to visit! The tour guide Jan was very lovely, knowledgable and thoughtful and the food was absolutely delicious! At the end of the tour we were stuffed!!

Fantastic food and interesting tour of Chinatown

My friend and I did a tour with Chantana in early April. It was amazing! It was super hot, and our guide was kind enough to get us all water for the walk. All of the food was great, and our guide did a good job tailoring spice level to individual preferences. There were only three of us, so it felt like a friend was taking us to all their favorite places and telling us about the city along the way. I suggest going with an empty stomach - it was a LOT of food.

The best experience!

Highly recommend this experience! Our group of 9 had an incredible time experiencing places and dishes we wouldn’t have come across on our own in, and hearing about the culture and history alongside delicious food. It was also extremely convenient to have the food ready and waiting for us at most places! And above all, Jan was the highlight of the night! She elevated the experience and was extremely accommodating to our groups needs. I’ll be a repeat customer if I make my way back to Bangkok!

Food is great and Jan is even better.

We had such an amazing experience with Jan today. She brings ease and elegance wherever she goes. All of the food was great and she was an impeccable tour guide - informative, charismatic, and so knowledgeable. Jan knows the best food scene, and also is genuinely rooted in the communities throughout Bangkok. Amazing tour with Jan

We had an amazing tour with Jan and 2 other couples. We are so much food and were completely stuffed by the end of the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our knowledgeable and personable guide and really felt like she made the tour comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. We even became friends with the other couples. Everything was excellent from start to finish and we would not have been able to visit this local spots without her help!

Food, fun, and facts.

Jan Chantana toured us through Bangkoks China town. We saw temples, Back streets and back alleys, as well as a variety of different eateries. The food was wonderful, a mix of Thai, and other local dishes as well as some Chinese dishes, which were delicious. Jan talked us though the history of the area and the food we ate. She was a great guide, kind and patient, as well as knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend a tour with Jan. if I could have given 6 stars I would have..

Highlight of our Thailand Trip.

This tour was one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to VCT. Jan was an amazing guide and taught us so much about Bangkok, Buddhism, life in Bangkok and of course the street food. She took us to places we would never have found on our own and food we would likely never had tried. We were stuffed by the end 9f the tour and everything we ate was fantastic. Jan was great at answering all the questions we had as well as introducing to much of Thai culture and food. The tour took at least a full 4 hours and we had about 10 stops in all trying food and drinks at each one. I can’t recommend this tour enough and I would highly recommend Jan as the guide for it.

More than a food tour

Great food tour led by our guide Jan- Chantana. She gave us plenty of information on the market and the people who provide the very tasty food. We even got to prepare lotus flowers for the Chinese temple. We definitely ate at places we would have overlooked. More than a food tour.

A Must For Food Lovers

The walking food tour was one of the highlights of my Thailand trip. I took multiple tours across three cities in Thailand during my trip and my tour with Jan was the best out of all of them. Her knowledge of Thai culture/cuisine helped to bring a richer understanding of the areas we visited on the tour. She also has formed strong relationships with the local vendors, which was incredibly helpful. She would whisk us past the long lines that formed behind the popular street food stalls, where a private table would be set up for us while we had the privilege to watch the stall owners cook from behind the scenes. Not to mention, the food was amazing. If you love food, this tour is a must. It is jam packed with a variety of street food options from savory to sweet. You will get to experience the best street food stalls that you otherwise would have no knowledge of without a guide. What I also appreciated was the thoughtfulness of the food choices. We got to experience local/regional Thai cuisine that reached far beyond typical westernized Thai options. This tour is an absolute must if you enjoy Thai cuisine and are visiting Bangkok, even for one night. I would recommend booking the tour on a weekend evening, when the night markets are more active.

Best tour ever with Jan!

We did the China Town tour in Bangkok last night and had so much fun - and food! Our guide Jan was simply the best, looked well after us at all stops and made sure everyone’s preferences were honored. Every single location had something unique to it and my favorite was definitely the small family ran restaurant in the back streets of china town where we had the most delicious Som Tum (papaya salad). Jan managed our group in the busy streets of china town on Friday night wonderfully and shared so much of her passion for her city and culture. Something not to miss !!!!

Excellent tour and first class tour guide. Jan is very passionate about what she does, knowledgable about the food and sharing with us the differences between the food and their regions. She was a rockstar navigating us through busy Chinatown on a Friday night. Not an easy task.My favorite was the papaya salad and the small family that showed us how to make it. Yum! Come hungry and pace yourself! I have taken many Secret Food Tours and this is one of my faves. Thank you Jan for giving us a Bangkok experience we will never forget!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An epicurean walking tour in Bangkok.

What a great experience. My wife and I enjoyed a great evening in Bangkok on the Secret Food Tour with our guide Jan. She was extremely knowledgeable and great fun. She took us to places we’d never have dreamt of going without her. The quality and range of foods we tried was incredible - we even made our own Green Mango Salad! At the end of our tour Jan also sent us some fantastic photos she’d taken along the way as some wonderful memories of an unforgettable experience. Thank you Jan.

Great food-cultural tour

We just did a shared tour with Jan. Small group. Lots of food (maybe a bit too much) and beer. Rice, noodles, dumplings, chicken, pork, duck, desserts... all very good (and one or two excellent). We walked many back alleys and non-touristy places in Chinatown. The tour is also culturally oriented as the guide explains the background of the neighborhood and it's inhabitants.

Jan was amazing!

Loved the tour! Jan was such an amazing guide during our food tour. She took us through an amazing tour to some local spots, we would have never tried if it weren’t for her. She helped encourage us to try new things, and found a few things we definitely will reorder. Loved getting a mini history tour, as well as a cooking lesson. Jan was such an amazing guide, and we enjoyed getting to know her.

Fun experience

Jan was an excellent guide with brilliant local knowledge. The food was we tried was varied and all the dishes were delicious. Unfortunately the 11 portions were a little too large for us so couldn’t manage the final dishes. Also just a small point…we would rather have had a couple of small beers at say dish 3 and 6 rather than a large beer at the end when we were all too full, but overall a brilliant introduction to Bangkok Food and the China Town area. Would definitely recommend.

Jan gave very detailed information about the food and the contents .. additionally we were informed about some historical of some foods.. we thank additionally to Jan for helping us to arrive to metro station even if the tour was ended.

Eat Your Way Through Bangkok

My husband and I had the best time on our Bangkok food tour with Chantana. The food we experienced was so authentic - I never would have found these places we visited on my own! The portion sizes were HUGE, so come with an empty stomach - it is not a “tasting” by any means. We tasted a wide range of foods - appetizers, main courses, desserts - with meat, without meat - everyone was happy. The success of any tour is largely influenced by its tour guide and Chantana was fantastic. She was so personable, so engaging and had a great sense of humor too. Not only did she help us eat our way through Bangkok, she also taught us some history along the way. For any “foodie” I hugely recommend this tour!

Excellent food tour with Chantana as our guide. Chinatown at night was bustling and beautifully lit up. We stopped at several street food places and a back alley tiny, hidden family restaurant where we watched them cook our meal. Nice variety of foods as well as some beer and local rum. Chantana was very fun and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and were well fed. She even negotiated a tuk tuk to get us back to our hotel at the end of the tour. I highly recommend her tour.

If you do nothing else, do this!

Jan was incredible, so lovely and insightful. She shared so much information about the history and culture of the food we were eating. We felt truly welcomed in every place we sat down. Jan felt like she was our friend showing us around her home, it made the whole experience amazing . The food was delicious, we tried so many new dishes. We went home with full happy bellies, so make sure you come hungry. There's some short walks between meals so it doesn't feel like too much. This was by far our favourite night in Thailand, all thanks to Jan <3

Went to places I normally wouldn't go to as a solo traveller and sampled some delicious Thai food. Also got great insights into the Thai people and culture. Love Thai food! Insider’s guide to Bangkok street food

Had a great time exploring a wide variety of delicious specialties with our guides Jan & Syl. We sampled our way through the Chinatown area, including tiny alleyway restaurants, one classic restaurant, and a range of street vendors. Many of the dishes were not ones we would have known to order and nor who to order from, so very glad to have such knowledgeable and fun guides. Really appreciated that they ensured we had a few breaks from the outdoor heat with a few stops for clean bathrooms and air conditioning.

Great food tour in China town.

We had a wonderful evening in China town. The food was delicious, we learned some things about the Thai culture and came in alleys we would never visit by ourselves. The tour guide Jan was really great. She was friendly, made us laugh and organized everything very well. We recommend her very much!

As a person who's not too familiar with Thai cuisine, this tour was well worth it. Jan was such a lovely host as she was able to answer questions the group had during the tour, took us to some historic places, and had us try local food that wouldn't have been on every tourist's bucket list. The food was wonderful and we tried things that we wouldn’t have on our own, and they were delicious. We loved the demo of making the papaya salad. Jan, our guide, even took us to see some of the sites. Other than the food, we really enjoyed the peaceful moments at the temple with the lotus flowers. Yummy Food Tour

Booked the tour for 2 adults and 3 children. Fantastic experience with loads of yummy food to taste and interesting walk. Our female guide was amazing and lead us through the alleys of Bangkok with loads of information of the city and the different food items we tasted. She was very knowledgeable and went beyond and above to make our little group happy. Highly recommended
