Professional driving services

We spent two great days with Mr Suleman visiting Ajanta and Ellora Caves, and Bibi Ka Maqbara. The vehicle was clean and well maintained, and Mr Suleman was a safe and professional driver. Even though we booked driving services only (no guide), Mr Suleman shared a great deal of information with us about the sites and the Aurangabad region. Thanks to his advice at Ellora Caves, we were able to largely dodge the substantial crowds and experience many of the caves in solitude.

Incredible Indian Engineering

Excellent door-to-door service with our driver and guide, Ram, who has a deep bag of knowledge of both temples. The drives can be longer depending on traffic / animal crossings, but it’s all worthwhile once you get to both sites. A very hassle free and educational experience. Ajanta and Ellora cave tour

We took a two day tour with guide to Ajanta and Ellora. We did a last minute booking on Monday when ajanta caves are closed. The tour company was very flexible with our time and what we wanted to see. They picked us up from the hotel and took us to the Ellora caves. The next day we did the Ajanta caves. Our tour guide Deepak, was extremely knowledgeable and kind. He was able to answer all our questions and explained the sculptures, the painting and the history very well. We were super impressed. I would highly recommend the tour with a guide and if you get a guide like Deepak, you are the lucky one. Our driver was also quite the gentleman, very soft spoken, always had a smile and the perfect gentleman. Highly recommend the tour company.

Enjoyable trip with Driver Mr.Naser

We book 2days tour without guide. Driver Mr.Naser was so kind and very nice driver. He is completely on time for airport pickup and hotel pickup. He took us only requested place and advised us to be aware of store sales person. Of course, Ajanta & Ellora Caves were nice. But his efforts made our time more memorable. Amazing tour company

I saw the reviews and contacted TMC. Sher Khan immediately replied back and we were in touch over WhatsApp. Khan communicates very well in English and provides quick detailed reply. We were picked up at IXU Aurangabad airport and dropped off at our hotel(Fern residency). The next 2 days were spend touring Ajanta, Ellora caves, Biwi ka Maqwara, Aurangzebs tomb, Grisheshwar temple. We were a family of 4 adults including a senior. Our driver Mr Mannan was amazing. He drives well, safely and with a lot of patience. He also talked about the city and historical places. We learned a lot from him. He also helped us take breaks for food, shopping etc and was very respectful of others. Highly recommend Mannan as your driver and an awesome tour company. 5 stars.

Beyond Imagination

It is advisable to travel solo to such destinations or travel with people who are keen on seeing and admiring such historical places. Perfect time to visit Ajantha and Ellora would be during the months of Sep-Feb ideally. Ellora will require at least two days to cover whereas Ajantha can be done in a day. Ellora is just about 30 kms from the city of Aurangabad and Ajantha is about 110 Kms from Aurangabad. A few things to keep in mind. Remember to hire a good accredited guide. Remember to wear a good pair of walking shoes when you are on your trip to Ellora. I would recommend sandals or slip-on's when at Ajantha as you need to remove your footwear every time you enter a “Cave”. Do remember to carry adequate water and a floppy hat. At both the locations there are a lot of monkeys, so be careful about plastic covers as monkeys tend to think there is food in plastic covers and have a tendency to snatch plastic covers. At both locations Maharashtra tourism runs pretty decent restaurants. Entrance tickets for both locations is Rs 40 and though there is some charge for cameras the amount is normally not collected. There is a notice saying videos and flash lights are not permitted but the same is not monitored. Please be very very careful of the hawkers selling idols and coins at both locations and semi precious stones at Ajantha. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AS THE AS MOST OF WHAT THEY HAVE IS NOT WORTH IT OR IS COUNTERFIET. Also the hawkers can be very persuasive and can turn aggressive and abusive if you show interest in buying something but walk away without purchasing anything. Ellora is closed for maintenance on Tuesdays and the timings for visitors is 0600-1800. As Ellora is close to Aurangabad city I would suggest an early entry so that you get enough time before the crowds come in. Ajantha is closed for maintenance on Mondays. The timings for visitors on other days are between 0900-1700. Calling Ajantha and Ellora as cave temples is in itself a misnomer as these are not caves per se but are huge rocks that have been chiseled away from the top downwards and from front to rear. The biggest attraction at Ellora is the Kailasa temple which is possibly the biggest and best preserved structure. It is really hard to comprehend how such a huge structure was chiseled out from a single rock. There are a total of 34 such rock cut structures in Ellora that is distributed over a area of more than 2 kms. The rock cut temples are Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples. Kailasa temple (mentioned as cave 16) is the largest rock cut structure in the world. There are electric buggies that takes you from site to site within the two odd kilometer area. There is a small charge and I suggest the same can be used for moving around the temples of Ellora. There are very intricate panels in the Kailasa temple where Ramayana and Mahabharata have been described in detail. These structures were carved between the 7th and the 11th centuries AD. Most impressive are some of the work that has been done on the ceilings. Truly there are no words to describe the beautiful temples and idols and the effort, dedication and perseverance that should have gone into creating it. Ajantha has about 30 rock cut temples. It is spread out in the shape of a horse shoe. The temples in Ajantha are Buddhist temples and are believed to have been carved out starting the 2nd century BC up until the 7th century AD .The temples here describe the life of Buddha and Bodhisatvas and the structures are basically called Viharas and Chaityas. The mural paintings describes the previous lives of Buddha. The paintings in Ajantha are basically the Jataka Tales. The paintings have to be seen to be believed, the color's used are all vegetable and plant dyes. The expressions and scenes that have been depicted are so natural and it is really hard to believe how such works of art could have been created inside such dark structures. The scenes depicting Buddha about to renounce his princely status is very well preserved and is breathtaking to say the least. Though the frescos are beyond beautiful the sculptures in most of the rock cut caves are equally impressive. The Stupa in cave 10 resembles a Chapel and it is believed that churches were modelled after this stupa. Some of the paintings have people with distinct Oriental and African features possibly indicating that this was an important Centre of trade and learning. Wonderful three days, of course when we start thinking a bit deeper it is really unimaginable how these things were created. Were they really created by humans if yes then we have really lost it over the centuries. I am still unable to comprehend how such wonderful works of art could have been created with just a chisel and a hammer. Words and pictures will never be able to do justice to these magnificent works, it needs to be seen to be believed.

Wonderful day with a great guide. Mr.Ghani was our guide he was very knowledgeable and explained the significance of where we were which made it all the more special. He kept the day interesting and entertaining with some laughter in between, overall I couldn't recommend this tour enough and thank them for a great and memorable day!

troubless trip in Aurangabad

Went to Ajanta and Ellora caves for two days. The driver Mr. Suleman was very kind and respectful. We had a very smooth trip with his help. Aurangabad was a very nice place with rich nature. Wild life is something to see. Deccan Plateau where Ajanta caves are located has magnificant views. Also love the Masala tea!!

Highly recommended

A great experience. Mr Sherkhan speedily arranged for my visit and Uncle Mannan provided his driving services for the day. He was warm, hospitable, and engaging and made me feel like family. Moreover, Mannan felt truly connected to each historical site we visited and conveyed each respective site’s cultural and historical depth to me. I truly enjoyed my time and only wish i could’ve given a bigger tip but i was running out of cash. Mr Sherkhan also arranged for my rides to and from the airport. I highly recommend.

Great way to see the caves!

This was a great experience! Having a driver made the whole trip to Ellora and Ajanta smooth and easy, and my driver (S S Patel) was very accommodating and flexible. I didn’t request a guide but am sure it would have been a great choice as well. I would definitely use this company again in the future. And of course the caves were incredible

Not the end to my holiday I wanted

I picked my car up today reference GVGFZG. Only had my car 2 weeks so to come back to so much damage is very upsetting I know we sign that they are not liable but when it obviously happened when they moved it is just plain negligence on their behalf. I will not use holiday inn for parking hotels anymore and will advise my social media friends to use other businesses instead also.

Good trip Facilitation by Tour My Choice

Engaged services of Mr. Sherkhan and I am happy with the choice. He has a set of driver, who are reliable, professional and friendly. Cars were very well-maintained and clean. They all spoke Hindi only and I am not conversant. However, drivers did their best with 'their English' and I pitched with 'my hindi'! So, no major issues on language front. Overall it was a good trip. Tip: As it gets very hot during summers, I suggest you split your sight seeing plan as forenoon and evening sessions if time and budget permits. You will enjoy outing and takeaway more.

Fantastic - must see

Tour my Choice This was one of the tours that we thoroughly enjoyed going out to see history, caves made back in the fifth century earlier and later. Sanjay spoke very well and was easy to communicate and understand, he was very accommodating as my mother is 77 and at times it was difficult for her, but he made sure that she had options at both of the Allora caves and Ajenta caves. I would highly recommend this place. It was amazing to see such history. We booked a five-star hotel and I was advised that this was the best one in Aurgubad , but to be honest, it felt more like a three star as it was very old rundown and not great. but don’t let the hotels stop you from coming to this beautiful place in India. You must visit it was an amazing place to see and Sanjay and our driver were fantastic - i highly recommend! It was worth the stopover and the tour company was super easy to deal with and communicated well both via email and on WhatsApp. No complaints, here. I will always have this on my must see if going to INDIA and look no further this is the company to use!.

Excellent 2 days

This was one of the best, easiest to organise tours I've done. Right from the first contact almost immediately after booking, everything ran smoothly and was overall an excellent experience. Our driver, Samad, was very professional and friendly, and the car was very clean and comfortable. Our guide, Deepak, was very friendly, spoke excellent english and shared a lot of history about the caves and the overall Aurungabad area. Both were very good with my 10 year old son, making sure he was comfortable and explained things so he could understand! Sherkhan was able to further organise airport and train transfers for us without fuss and clear, fast response communication. I'd definitely recommend this tour with the driver and guide. My only tips would be make sure you drink plenty of water, hat/cap and sunglasses (it can get very hot!) and wear shoes that are easy to get on and off, it makes going in and out of the amazing caves quicker!

Ajanta and Ellora Caves - 2 day tour with guide

The tour was well organized. The driver Mr. Santosh was on time, drove with good speed carefully and saved us wasteful traffic time. Mr. Gani is an excellent guide, well spoken, very knowledgeable, patient, understood our quest to learn and took the time to explain at each place. He is also an excellent photographer and helped us by taking many panaromic pics! Will definitely recommend this tour and guide to any future visitors!

Excellent tour

We had booked a 2 day tour. But we were coming a day before so we needed a taxi for pick up from airport. We contacted Mr. Sherkhan on whatsapp it was very easy and he arranged taxi for us. 1st day we went to Ajanta caves it is better to leave early in the morning to avoid afternoon heat. 2nd day our tour was of Ellora caves and Bibi ka Maqbara but we wanted to visit Grishneshwar temple so we massaged Sherkhan, he replied us immediately that you can visit the temple and it is free. our guide Mr. Deepak was a very good and experienced guide, the information he gave us about the caves we cannot find in any book, and he had a lot of knowledge not only about caves but about all religions, politics and India. He was very kind and helpful. Car was new and neat clean, driver Mr. Suleman gave us bottles of cold water in the afternoon which was much appreciated, he was always ready on time. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to visit Ajanta and Ellora Caves.

Bad experience; 2 day private tour

We did not have a good experience with this company. I organized a private 2 day tour + airport pick up/drop off. The driver, Santosh, was good. He was there with a sign with my name on it at arrivals. It was the evening. The car was nice and clean. He gave us water bottles but they were warm so we were uncomfortable to drink it as it felt like they’d been sitting in the hot car all day. He asked me what hotel we were staying at - I expected him to know as I had shared all those details in advance. We agreed to meet at 9am in the lobby the next morning to start the tour. The majority of the reviews on TA are about Sherkhan as the guide so I thought he was going to be our guide but we were assigned someone else who made a very bad 1st impression. At 9am I texted and said let me know when the guide and driver are here and they immediately responded they’re here. So we went downstairs and were in the lobby by 9:03 where we were approached by an elderly man that says in an annoyed tone, “I have been sitting here waiting for you for so long. I have been here since 8:50”. And that’s it. That’s all he said. Seriously?? My mom and I looked at each other and then trying to not start off negatively in a cheerful voice I said, “we agreed to meet at 9 and you didn’t message me”. And then he shook his head at me and said, “no I don’t do that”. And now I was annoyed and said, “ok. well let’s go”. Then he got busy on his phone and didn’t open the door for my mom whereas Santosh got out of the car and opened the other back door. In the car our guide didn’t engage with us at all for about 5-7 minutes. I was uncomfortable and decided to try to reset so I introduced myself and my mom and asked, “what is your name?” And he literally got a look of annoyance as if I asked an impertinent question, he hesitated for a second and then answered my question. And then silence. Then about 5 minutes later he started a monotone dialog about Aurangabad and the caves. He used so many references and words that I didn’t understand I asked for clarification for some but then I just gave up. At one point he was telling a tale from Hindu mythology but he told it like we he expected us to have context and some knowledge of it. And I said, “I don’t know this story and I don’t know who these historical figures are that you’re referring to”. And he goes, “I know and I wouldn’t expect you to.” Well then why was he telling the story and in that manner?? At one point my mom asked him a question and he literally scolded her. He said “I am talking about x and you are asking about y”. And any time we asked a question it was like it was annoying to him. I wanted to take a picture in front of the Unesco sign and again he got annoyed and told me no as we were going to miss the shuttle to the caves and I was like that’s ok we’re not in a hurry but he literally was like no. I think he realized because my negative reaction was obvious, and he followed up with we’ll have a chance to take the photo later. He was cranky, condescending and frankly I don’t think he would have treated obvious foreigners that way. By obvious foreigners what I mean is we are of Indian heritage. My parents were born and raised in India and immigrated to the US more than 5 decades ago. We are of Indian heritage, we speak Hindi and we are women and I think that factored into how he treated us. On the plus side we appreciated that he took us on routes to minimize stairs for my mom and took photos for us. I told him we were interested in particular caves at Ellora and he did focus on those. He was knowledgeable but lacked people skills. On the administrative side I was disappointed as well. I booked this tour 1 month in advance. The day before, I never heard from them. Instead I had to follow up with them. From the moment the tour started I never heard from the office to even ask how our day was, if we wanted restaurant recommendations etc. - nothing. The only time I heard from them was at the end to collect payment and even then not a word to at least say I hope you enjoyed it. I was disappointed and would not recommend this company.

This is the one you should book!

What an amazing 2 days!! I was chauffeured and shown around the caves by the driver Mr. Suleman. He's a great driver, and also very knowledgeable about the caves, the area, places and history. He was very accommodating and flexible with my hours, wherewhen i wanted to eat on the way. The caves themselves are incredible, but you already know that :-) Don't try to rush both cave complexes in one day, it might be doable but you won't have the time to appreciate them.

An amazing experience exploring the caves

Had an amazing 2 days exploring the Ajantha and Ellira caves. Sherkhan was excellentv with communication and made sure our experience was fantastic. The guide Aleem Ava driver Asad were amazing! Highly recommend going on this tour.

Very Interesting Tour

We did the two day tour of Ajanta and Ellora plus Bibi Al Maqbara. The cave art and carved rock temples were amazing! Very worthwhile. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. Our driver was good and the car quite nice. Prompt and professional. I appreciated the contact via WhatsApp from Sherkan prior to our arrival in Aurangabad to confirm details. We also enjoyed Bibi Al Maqbara which was much less crowded than the Taj Mahal but quite interesting. Highly recommend this tour and company.

Ajanta and ellora an amazing experience

Perfect tour !

Perfectly organized visit of Ajanta, Ellora and some other sites around Aurangabad. I was on a business trip and flew into Aurangabad on Friday evening. I was picked up on the airport and dropped off in my hotel. The next morning I was picked up and we went to Ajanta. Mr. Gani, my guide was very good and pointed out a lot of details I would have missed on my own. I was free to visit the site at my own pace. The next day we went to Bibi Ka Maqbara, Daulatabad Fort and Ellora. After sightseeing I was dropped at the airport with amble time to catch my flight on Sunday afternoon. I was a great experience. Sherkhan is an excellent communicator and goes out of his way to make you have a amazing experience. I can highly recommend him.

Most amazing Ajanta &Ellora

One of the best cultural sites in India. We were taken to these sites by excellent tour guide Deepak who made our visit so memorable and meaningful. His knowledge and the way he presented this man made wonder was so amazing.

Ajantha, Ellora, Aurangabad

We were recommended Sherkhan travels by a friend. It was easy to communicate and make the arrangements with Sherkhan. We were picked up by Santosh, the driver, from Shirdi and taken to our hotel in Aurangabad. He was very accommodating, pleasant and had good local knowledge. He arrived promptly at our hotel and was very helpful throughout the three days we were there. The lunch places recommended by him were spot on and gave us a good flavour of the local cuisine. He also connected us with a good guide at Ajantha. We had a great experience at Aurangabad thanks to Santosh and would highly recommend using Sherkhan travels & Santosh.

The Ajanta and Ellora Caves are spectacular

The tour of the Ajanta and Ellora caves was our main reason for our trip to India, and we were not disappointed, they were amazing! I booked the tour via Viator and then had direct contact with the owner, Mr Sherkhan, who was very quick to respond and also offered to arrange our transfers from the airport to our hotel, the Welcomhotel, and back. Mr Samad was our driver who was very punctual and able to safely negotiate the crazy Indian traffic. Prof. Jaiswal was our guide for the day trip to Ajanta. He was very knowledgeable and able to give great details of all the caves and their spectacular paintings Mr Alim Kadri was our guide for the second day at Ellora. He was a very warm and knowledgeable guide. Both days and the transfers were very smoothly handled and I have no hesitation in recommending this tour.

I booked Ajatha, Ellora trip from abroad. It was easy to communicate with Sherkhan before booking, to get confirmation, during and after the trip. We were picked up Auranghabad airport by Mr Suleman, an experienced, polite, friendly and safe driver. It was a wonderful experience visiting the caves. I would recommend them as they are flexible and happy to cater to individual needs of the tourists.

A memorable trip

Khan bhai is very kind person who took care of the entire trip to Ajanta Ellora and Aurangabad city including Shirdi. His driver was also very nice person who treated us like family. We would highly recommend go with them. Whenever I or my relatives go that side, we will always go with them only.

Beautiful caves

Had a great time seeing Ajanta and Ellora. Our driver Samad was fantastic and knew good places to stop for food and drink and shopping, and was very reliable picking us up and being communicative over WhatsApp. We did Daulatabad Fort too after Ellora and it was a tough hike but fun to mix up the cave sightseeing.

Great and flexible option for Ajanta Ellora 2 days

The driver and guide both did a great job. The guide ensured a smooth experience and was knowledgeable about the historical context. The lead from the local tour company Mr. Sherkhan paid us a courtesy visit the morning of the second day, which I thought was cool. We decided to cut short the second day (after Ellora Kailash Temple, the best part of the two days), so we could catch a late afternoon flight out of Aurangabad. They were very flexible and took us back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, and then dropped us off at the airport.

Good tour experience!

We had a very good driver, Suleman. Very professional. Equally good was our guide, Ali. We spend 2 days touring Ellora and Ajanta. Remarkably places. Would recommend this tour if you travelling to this areas.
