The National Archaeological Museum visit was good but 3 sections inside the museum (like ART section) were closed due to lack of manpower. The guide provided by GET YOUR GUIDE.Com was very knowledgeable and made it interesting.

We went to the National Archeology Museum and were greeted with a smile and energy. Andronache was knowledgeable as she started us on a historical adventure from the beginning to modern times. I loved the extra learning of the stories behind the artifacts. I made the day. I highly recommend her.

Jordon was incredibly knowledgeable. 2 hours is quite short for a museum of this size, but Jordon moved us through efficiently and thoughtfully so we could get the most out of the museum. We highly recommend going right when the museum opens, given how crowded the mauseum gets.

This was a must do tour for us. Having a guide take us through all the artifacts in the museum gave us such a holistic view, ensuring no stone unearthed. The guide was very knowledgeable and we had a great time. Go see the museum before they close it for renovations. Well worth the time.

Guide Adapted Her Tour to Our Needs

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. She clearly had a normal route through the main exhibits for foreign tourists, but when she discovered how much we already knew about Ancient Greece and that we had already been to Olympia, to Akrotiri in Santorini, to the Palace at Knossos, etc., she adapted her planned trip through the museum to show us what we wanted to see to fill in the gaps in our knowledge. She was wonderful.

For art and history lovers

This tour was excellent! Our guide brought to life the exhibits at the museum and made them accessible. Our guide revealed Greek history through the works of art and sculpture at the museum. Those interested in history and art will love this!

Many time periods to cover in this museum

Our guide was Despina who had great knowledge and took us through the museum in a focused way. We were a group of 5 and were over 30min late due to traffic and overall took longer than I planned from our hotel near Syntagma; then had to wait on line for tickets that took another 20+min (for a mid Oct trip, I really planned for this museum to be much less crowded, and was clearly wrong! this is a big attraction!!). Unfortunately the tour then seemed rushed to complete prior to closing; still had a solid 90min with Despina. I strongly recommend doing this museum as one of the first of your Athens trip (as we did), yet leave at least 30-60 min to get there on time (whether by taxi or metro green line- Victoria station), get tickets ahead of time to 'skip the line'. We were all tired from travel and just wish we timed this experience a little better. Despina was very good. Museum is amazing and could spend a whole day covering all the time periods of art and culture, but this tour does a good job to distill to a couple hours.

Amazing museum

We were amazed at the collections in this museum. Two hours really was not long enough for this tour. Our guide was so personable and knowledgeable. The only thing that might have improved the experience would be headsets. She had a very soft voice, and the people milling around made it difficult to hear her. Otherwise, I would say, take this tour!

Our guide was wonderful. She picked out great highlights from the collection and we learned so much while we were there. Really worth it as larger collections can feel overwhelming when you don’t have an expert to take you through.

Helen’s In-depth knowledge brought the archaeological museum to life for us. Our only regret is that we had only two hours to spend, because we could have easily spent much more time under her tutelage.

Awesome museum

Awesome archeological museum that goes through all the different times of Greece, All the artifacts are beautifully presented and restored. Plan on at least 2 hours. A private guide brings Greece history alive.
