National Archaeological Museum E-Ticket with Audio Guide

Do not purchase this excursion!

Reserving this excursion was a mess! The links for the audio app didn't work and we ended up using the free devices from the museum. We purchased "skip the line" tickets for 3:00 p.m. When we arrived we were told that we needed to arrive either at 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. for it to work. If you're thinking of buying these tickets DON'T DO IT!

Very poor- not consistent with what we expect from Viator

The “get your tickets” apt was hard to use. We had to wait in long line. The voice devices were not available. This tour was not up to Viator standards.

Avoid the staff

The staff was terrible. We arrived and followed the stroller road and when we arrived the girl open the door told us why were doing there cos the place would close soon. Then they rushed us through the museum all the way to the stair entrance and we wasted 15 mins at the entrance. Then through the museum they were telling us we couldn’t take photos and when we tried to get out they wouldn’t let us out. So unpleasant.

Quick service

I made the decision to do this late the night before. My online ticket and audio guide were promptly available the next morning. The audio guide is easy to use.

Poor business model. We and will find better options.

The Clio Muse audio tour was unobtainable to me. The site link was very poor. My partner did download it but it was not helpful. The free museum audio tour was much better. Poor Viator experience for us continues. We had a ticket package for Venice. The site was closed for the Pope’s visit. Even with the site closed, the ticket was non refundable! So Viator sold us tickets for a closed venue and refused to refund the payment.

Excellent museum

Loved the museum. Was very well organized. Most interesting - the gold death masks , the recreated post volcano bed, the bronze horse. Our tickets were at 3 and we didn’t realize the museum closed at. Disappointing

It might a great Museum, but if you cannot gain entry in a reasonable time it’s not worth it

The queues at the Archeological Museum are unbearable. I and my wife did not come on holiday to stand in queue for over an hour. We just gave up, even though we had paid in advance. The Museum should not sell tickets to people unless they can offer entrance in a timely and organised manner. I have been cheated and would like my money back please.

Super Museum

The museum is amazing! The audio tour not so much. You need earbuds to be completely able to hear because the museum is always packed! My Rick Steves guide was actually a better option. The pre-paid ticket enables you to skip the line so that made it worth the cost!

Lousy- never got tickets. Had to buy new tickets from museum

Never got tickets to come up and got charged. Took 2 people to try to figure out and kept us in eternal loop of emails and downloads but no tickets to use!

Disappointed

We couldn't get a new timeslot from you while we were stuck in traffic and could not get there on time .So we went there the next morning after reservation on the museum.

The glory of ancient Greece

Outstanding museum with important exhibitions. must see artifacts including the Antikythera mechanism.

Totally worth the money!

Really enjoyed the history in the audio portion. Loved having the directions to each artifact as well. Highly recommend!

Disappointed

Regret to inform you that we could not get to the National Archeological Museam to see as all the roads leading to it are shut down due to teachers strike. Too bad, even the teachers who are supposed to educate and enlighten the younger generation resorted to this kind of action.

Incredible museum

Audio was not accurate as they had moved around exhibits & therefore was difficult to follow the information

Wonderful museum!

Even with an audio issue it was still a wonderful museum to visit. Easy to get to by bus & taxi or walking. Wonderful statuary!

Fill in the blanks of Greek History

Every actual site that we visited during our 3 weeks in Greece always said "The objects are in the National Archeological Museum in Athens" They were correct!! The vast amounts of items that were present in the Museum were absolutely amazing. The period of time covered included THOUSANDS of years. Things that I had only preciously read about now are actual physical things. The audio tour was well laid out, covered the entire Museum, was easy to follow and gave insights and info that would otherwise not have been know. Well worth the time and money!! Thank you~~~

Easy app to use

The APP for the guided tour in the museum is very easy to use and gives you a lot of information. It is a nice way to get a first view in the museum.

Difficult to navigate

The museum is hard to navigate and the audio tour was confusing with disjointed speakers. The audio tour needs to be revised with contemporary arrangements of how exhibits are actively laid out.

Large interesting museum

This museum is large! Allow more than two hours time to tour it. There are three stories. The audio tour was helpful. There is a lot of reading to do in the museum as well. Be sure to check the hours that they are open because they change for different days. There was no waiting line when we went around 4 PM in June.

Nice museum

This is a very nice museum. There is no need for the 'skip the line' you can simply buy the ticket. There was no line when we visited the museum in May 2023 during the week.

Opening hours on Tuesday

The museum doesn't open until 1:00pm on Tuesdays. It wasn't prompted while booking the tickets so I couldn't visit in the morning as planned. I requested to change the date to the next day but Viator representative said they couldn't do it so I lost the ticket fee.

No Line

You do not need to pay for Skip the Line, There was no line! We went on a Monday afternoon and walked right in!

First-day trip that wasn’t too tiring

We loved that it wasn’t too far from the main part of the city - we wish there had been more than a lot of pottery, but still loved everything there was to see; the chronological setup into Egyptian/Roman etc. was well done!!

The title is: “Stay away from trip advisor”.

The museum would not accept our online tickets. We had to pay again to enter building. We are requesting a refund.

Do not buy this

The museum is fantastic but my poor review is regarding experience with skip-the-line e-ticket. First of all, there was no line, so no need to pay extra to skip, more importantly it was very difficult to download the e-ticket on my phone. I had to add a separate applicatio to be able to download pdf files on my phone and had to pay my US phone carrier for global services to allow me the access to be able to to that. That costs $10 and some people, such at T-mobile uses won't have that ability. It took me a long time to be able to add the app and download the ticket.

Very Helpful!

The museum wasn't doing audio tours so this was a must! It gave focus to the museum and great back story. Buy for each guest because there is no discount for kids or seniors that aren't nationalists.

Ancient Greece On Display

This was a great museum illustrating Greece's history. Lot's of artifacts, statues and other items from Ancient Greece. 2 floors makes for lots of viewing.

Not Worth the Money

I decided to buy this tour, despite finding 2 free audio tours of similar length, because I was hoping to get extra insight into the details of the museum. I haven't given it one star because I did learn a few things. However, overall the experience was deeply disappointing. I was listening to both this and a free audio tour of the museum at the same time, and the quality of that tour over this one was striking. One issue was that while there was some information about the history, there were also retellings of several common myths. That's not a bad thing, but this tour billed itself as giving insight into "overlooked and unusual" things. A bigger issue was the quality of the audio guide itself. The first problem was the reader: times, one of the voice actors misread the text, such as reading the word "relieved" as "relived," "invented" as "intended," "tended to the sick" as 'tended to get sick." These are things that I would handwave for a free guide, but when this costs so much more than its free competitors I find unacceptable. Beyond that there was the quality of the writing. Many sentences were poorly written (I'm an editor, I notice when there are far too many clauses or the pronouns move around), and some were even baffling, like "In order to avoid Poseidon, the sad goddess, was transformed...Dimitra may not have found the Persephone...." This and many other sentences gave the impression that they skipped or skimped on the proofreading stage. I'd be fine with that from a free tour, but again, this tour is competing with the free tours. There was actually a second reader in the tour, a British woman. What she read out loud was significantly better written. But the audio there was sped up strangely, so even that was a problem. When the competition is literally free, the product should be significantly better than this.

A pleasant experience!

I chose the specific tour based on my previous positive experience with Clio Muse Tours. Once again it turned out to be the right choice. Easy downloading of the tour through the app and ticket issuing online. No waste of time due to queuing. Easy use of the map and of the indicated tour stops. Enjoyable audio stories about the suggested exhibits of my favourite Athenian museum.

Only once is not enough!!

I loved it!! Entering an impressive building with numerous treasures and sculptures, listening to interesting and super engaging stories, with a user friendly app by hand- I would definitely go again when I get back to Greece- well done guys keep up the good job!!!

Mauvaise expérience très couteuse

Bonjour, Je suis excessivement mécontente de votre prestation. J'ai réservé avec vous il y a plusieurs semaines 2 entrées musée archéologique d'Athènes , visite que je devais effectuer le mercredi 22 mai. A la réservation , j'ai payé 22 euros x 2 =44 , sans avoir de réservation ferme ,en attente.. Lorsque nous nous sommes présentés au guichet d'entrée, on nous a dit que le papier que je montrais n était pas valable.......La responsable vous a appelé et j'ai eu le billet d'entrée. Mais, le billet d'entrée au musée est de 10 euros par personne!!!! Avec vous, j'ai payé + de 50 % de plus !!!!!! Vous êtes des MALHONNETES , des VOLEURS , des ARNAQUEURS Je travaille dans le tourisme et je vais vous faire connaitre .Arrêtez d'ESCROQUER tant de touristes qui s'adressent à vous tous les jours M.Sportès

Esperávamos mais do museu, muitas alas fechadas devido restauração, elevador com defeito, então o acesso com carrinho de bebê ficou complicado. Gastamos cerca de 1h para visitar....

servizio pessimo - Biglietto non valido

Museo bello, ma ho dovuto comprare un nuovo biglietto per entrare. Il biglietto acquistato da Viator non era valido perché già usato da altri utenti al museo mi hanno detto che lo stesso tagliando sia stato inviato a più utenti). Ho chiesto rimborso, ma ovviamente nessuna risposta ricevuta. Ovviamente non utilizzerò più il servizio di Viator. Davvero pessimo.
