Our guide Anthony was great. A seasoned driver, an excellent conversationalist as well as a knowledgeable guide - of the sites, the recent local history, and the ancient history. He was very attentive to our needs, made a great restaurant recommendation, and even helped us track down a pharmacy when all others in the area were closed. The sites were amazing as you’ve likely already seen. Quite intense inside the monasteries, with purposeful and dark depictions of religious persecution, along with hopeful and uplifting visuals. Lots to process. Great day trip!

Best Days!

Georgos picked us up and took us on a lovely ride to meteora! We had such a nice day we reserved him for a tour of Athens the next day and he showed us so much beauty in the Greek country and the city. I wish we had done this at the start of our trip instead of the end! He was kind, flexible and a great driver!

Nathan our driver was absolutely wonderful. He provided a history lesson on the way to Meteora and was very accommodating. He went above and beyond to make our experience an enjoyable one.

Has to be seen to be believed!

We were apprehensive of booking a 12 hour day trip due to our limited available time in Athens. We were not disappointed! Terry our driver was fantastic and took us to every site we requested. He even bought us an anniversary gift, so kind! We had a great day and the view is unbelievable. Excellent way to rememeber our anniversary. Not the cheapest tour, however is is a very long drive from Athens. Terry was on time and nothing was too much trouble for him. fantastic.

Our family trip to Meteora, with the company “Crispy Local” was fantastic. Our driver was on time, friendly, fun, and full of good information. He knew how to make sure we got the most out of our time there and took us to some beautiful spots for picture taking. He also took us to a place in town to have a wonderful meal before heading home. The views were spectacular. This trip was one of the highlights of our entire Greece trip. Don’t miss this trip!!!

Fantastic trip!

Fantastic trip. Ioannis was so informative and we learned a lot about Greece while on a beautiful drive and visiting one of a kind monasteries.

Rain did not ruin our fabulous day and our driver made it terrific

We were determined to see the monasteries regardless of the torrential rain that never let up. Our driver was excellent and listened to the the list we prioritized to see. He took us to each of the 3, and then surprised us! He remembered we’d told him early in the day that we at least wanted a picture of the one from the James Bond movie, since we knew it wouldn’t be open. He picked us up from the 3rd and told us another driver said it was open unexpectedly, since it had been closed for the recent holiday. We were thrilled and it was one of the very best! Thanks to him for listening to us and caring enough to make it happen!

Amazing place to visit

It is a great place and the guide Mr.George was too good and friendly.. the place was really amazing and enjoyed. It is a bit of drive from Athena but worth it. Please plan to go on sunny day.. to get good views off surrounding mountains and monasteries. We stopped for a lunch trip Downhill village and the food was alos Good.

Long drive but so worth it

Great trip to Meteora with Crispy Local

Awesome!!! Meteora is amazing - a must see place. It was beyond belief. Especially enjoyed seeing the monastery that was featured in the Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only". We were a group of 8 and had a private van provided by Crispy Local. Ioannis, the tour operator was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The driver George was also our defacto guide. He picked us up at the cruise terminal in the morning - he was there when we exited the ship. Later he brought us back to Athens in the evening again on time. George is wonderful. He customized the tour to meet our requirements. Not only was he knowledgeable about the local area but he had a broad swath of knowledge and we really enjoyed speaking with him. All in all, a memorable trip that we will always cherish!

Memorable visit to Meteora

Meteora is a unique place and well worth the visit. We left around 8am from the hotel and it was a full day trip (got back around 8pm). We also rented a guide who was with us during the visits to 2 of the 6 monasteries (Roussanou and Varlaam). These were quaint. We stopped at a few viewpoints and took pictures of the other 4 monasteries as well. Before we left Meteora, we hiked (down a hill and up the hill) to the Monastery of the holy trinity. It took us about 45mins total to vist and get back to the parking lot and got a nice view of the Kalambaka town from the monastery. This monastery is fairly plain but we enjoyed the trek. BTW, this monastery was a setting for the James Bond movie - For Your Eyes Only. We had time to visit 1 more monastery as well if we were interested before they would have closed (5pm). We visited on a Sunday when all monasteries are open. Note that different monasteries close on different days and so if you are picky about visiting a certain monastery, make sure it is open that day. The setting of this place was great! It was a cloudy day and perfect to be visiting! Traffic can be bad when returning to Athens (entering the city can be congested) but we did not have that much of a delay.

Meteora in a Day

My husband and I made this trip with our 12 year old granddaughter. We had just a few days in Athens so I carefully considered the amount of time this excursion would require and whether it made more sense to take a shorter day trip. In the end we decided to go; reasoning that the opportunity to travel through the Greek countryside, visit the site of the Battle of Thermopylae and to see the unique monasteries of Meteora was worth a full, exhausting day. We were right: the day was a once in a lifetime experience made stress-free and less exhausting by Anthony, our wonderful driver, guide and teacher. According to my watch it was a very long drive but Anthony’s insight and conversation on Greek life, history, and topography made the trip very enjoyable.

Meteora is truly a memorable experience!

Our driver was very mellow, friendly and accomodating. The drive from Athens to Meteora was very pleasant and scenic. Meteora was awesomely beautiful. The monasteries and the views were impressive. Our lunch at a Kalambaka taverna was lovely. Even though we went to Meteora on our last day in Greece after an 11-day tour we were so glad we went. Truly a memorable experience.

George, our tour guide and driver, was very knowledgeable, courteous and funny. The drive was comfortable to meteora. The place itself was amazing. Very scenic, with a lot of rich history and very spiritual place. Highly recommend booking a private tour with George.

Meteora is awesome!

I visited Meteora with two friends on our last day in Greece after a 10 day tour and cruise. We were tired during the drive but loved the chance to rest and enjoy the scenery. We were so pleased with how everything went. Our driver Anthony was just what we wanted. He looked after all of our needs, letting us doze, pulling over for photo ops, stopping at rest stops when needed, offering information and answering our questions. We opted to only go into the easiest monastery and it was gorgeous. We never felt rushed. He showed us where to get the best shots of the amazing views and took us to a lovely taverna in Kalambaka afterwards for lunch. Our roundtrip from Athens took about 12 hours. We were so glad we did it. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Breathtaking!

My son is studying abroad in Athens for the semester. When I visited in March, I wanted to see as much of Greece as possible in the 5 days I had - so I booked a few tours through Viator. Our day with Anthony and Nathan with CrispyTours to Meteora was truly incredible. If you're wondering, it is well worth the drive to see the amazing monestaries in the clouds in Meteora. Breathtaking and incredible. An added bonus was the stop at Thermopylae where we learned about one of the most important battlefields in world history. We also enjoyed a traditional Greek lunch on the way home - and great conversation with our guides. A big adventure - and a great day!

Meteora is a Must

My 12 son when I asked what he thought of this trip,” Anthony was the best. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot.” I second that Anthony was great we had a lovely day. It was well planned. Pick up was easy. Anthony was a wealth of knowledge. Meteora was beautiful. Remember to bring a large scarf or wear a skirt. The steps were a workout but worth it for the views. The monasteries were so interesting. Anthony dropped us at a nice place for lunch. And then we made our way back to Athens. At a rest stop my son used his change on a claw machine and won a soccer ball ( signed Real Madrid) so best day ever. Highly recommend Anthony.

Fantastic Trip to Meteora

Amazing trip to Meteora. The journey was around 4 hours in a very comfortable Mercedes, including a stop off for refreshments. We visited 3 of the monasteries and got to take some amazing photos and made so many memories. We then stopped off at a local restaurant. The food and the views of the mountains were fantastic. We arrived back in Athens in the evening after a comfortable drive back. We were collected and dropped off right outside our hotel. The whole experience was fantastic and perfect for my husband’s 40th birthday. Thank you to Giorgos for being a very knowledge and pleasant driver and guide. We would 100% recommend.

Amazing trip to monasteries!

This trip is about a 4 hour drive to Meteora but Giorgos was an excellent driver. We stopped at the halfway point to stretch. This stop is great for coffee and a pastry. The monasteries and the views are amazing!! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking to the each monastery. The restaurant we had lunch was excellent and had a great view too. Would highly recommend this experience!!

Historical and inspiring.

This was such an inspiring day! The monasteries are otherworldly! It was such a treat to get to visit. Well worth the drive. Crispy Tours was responsive and incredibly helpful in putting this together. Giorgos, my driver, was interesting and very well informed. Pick up and return directly at the port. Couldn’t have been easier.

Had George for tour guide for tour to Meteora! Was very kind and allowed us to take breaks when needed! Recommend those to see Meteora if have extra time in Athens. Was also able to see the site where 300 took place!

Amazing Experience

Honestly i was a bit hesitant to book this full day tour but i am so happy and glad that i decided to go ahead with the same. Our driver/friend Giorgos was an amazing person who took care of us like family and showed us many amazing photospots. The beauty of the monastries is also surreal and everything about the trip was amazing. Would Highly Recommend

This may have been the highlight of our Italy/Greece trip! It’s hard to imagine a place like Meteora. We loved it. My brother saw the James Bond movie - For your eyes only, and Meteora has been on his bucket list ever since. I’m so glad it was. I highly recommend a private car tour. It provided total flexibility and complete door-to-door service; hotel and monasteries. I saw hoards of people on massive busses that were herded in and out of the monasteries. It didn’t look pleasant or comfortable. But, at least they were there which counts. We went when and where we wanted. It was perfect! Thank you so much for the dream of a lifetime. Teresa

A Wonderful Day

We had an amazing day out with the Meteora trip. Giorgos was our driver . Polite and very respectful. Made us feel safe which was important. We were on a mother daughter trip celebrating my daughter's 16th bday month and he greeted her in the morning with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and wished her a happy bday. It made for a great start. Guided us through the day with stops along the way including my requests for an ATM and a pharmacy . Promptly waited for us outside the monasteries so we didn't waste time in locating him. Thank you for a memorable day

Perfect Meteora Tour!

An exceptional day tour! We’d hire again!

We (myself and my adult children) enjoyed this wonderful day trip to Meteora! Absolutely everything about this tour was wonderful! Our driver, George, was amazing! The transportation was great. The vehicle was very comfortable and the trip to and from Meteora was filled with great views, great conversation and interesting stops. George was an excellent guide and made us feel like treasured members of his family! Meteora itself was absolutely inspiring and breathtaking! I so WISH that I had time remaining in Athens. I would ABSOLUTELY hire this touring company for other day trips from Athens and I would request that George be our guide. We had a small medical issue whilst in the midst of the tour and George helped is deal with the issue in short order. He was compassionate, understanding and super helpful!

A must do when visiting Greece!!!

Our day trip to Meteora to visit the monasteries was wonderful. We were picked up at our hotel by our guide Anthony. He was professional and friendly and his knowledge of Greek history was exemplary. Our first break on our journey was at the battle of Thermopylae where the Spartan King Leonidus and 300 Spartans held off an advancing Persian army for 3 days. After taking a few photos we were back on the road to continue on to Meteora. Anthony was great, stopping at different spots on the road up to Meteora so we could take photos before visiting two monastries. We were fortunate enough to spend an hour at each. Both were absolutely beautiful and the views from each takes your breath away. A few more stops on the way down to take more photos then lunch at a great Greek restaurant in Kalabaka before heading back to Athens. This is an absolute must do if you are visiting Greece. Highly recommend and if you’re as lucky as we were you might get Anthony as your guide for the day 😊

Meteora Day Trip From Athens

Wonderful day trip from Athens to Meteora! Our driver, Harry, was fabulous: giving us lots of information about Greece in general and the monasteries in particular. He picked us up promptly at our hotel with a snack and water for the road. It’s a long trip, but absolutely worth it! Harry provided strategic breaks, one on the way in Thermopylae (saw the sights of the battle of the 300), lunch in Kalambaka after the monasteries and stretch stops on the way back. We wanted to see as much as possible, and Harry worked with us to make that happen. Can’t say enough good things about Crispy Local and Harry!

Well worth the time and effort

Was picked up on time from our hotel by Anthony, our guide for the day. We knew it was going to be a long day but we were excited to herad out to Meteora from Athens. The drive was long but very comfortable and we stopped along the way for a break and also got to visit Thermopylae monument - there is not much there but we were all aware of the history of that ancient battle. Read up on it before you go or watch the movie "300". The monasteries were amazing and luckily not as crowded since it was October. I'd hate to be there in the summer heat!! Visited two monasteries and the views were spectacular as was the history. Anthony waited for us while we visited since he does not enter. Although he did explain the history and other details, enthusiasts would be well served in reading about the particular monasteries that you will visit, since different ones are closed on different days of the week. Also everyone should dress appropriately. Be ready to climb a lot of steps but it is completely worth it in the end!! We had a long day but very pleasurable one in Anthony's company.

Antónios was a great tour guide, he took us to the best spots for pictures. The restaurant he took us had the most amazing food. He was never in a hurry & took his time to explain throughout the tour.

Meteora was a highlight of our time in Greece

Our trip to Meteora was a highlight of our trip to Greece and the Dalmatian Coast. We could hardly believe our eyes and wondered how anyone could have built these pinnacle-top structures so long ago. George was just wonderful - the perfect guide. He was punctual and, equally important, arrived with warm, savory treats. He has a friendly personality and is very knowledgeable, explaining what we were seeing along our route through the countryside, as well as in Meteora. We talked with him about a broad range of subjects regarding Greece. He was very professional and very open to questions of all kinds. By the end, we felt we had really had an interesting, personal encounter with a terrific representative of his country. Before returning to Athens, he brought us to a wonderful restaurant in Kalabaka - Meteora Restaurant Gkertsou Family. The food was delicious, the service warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was that of a big, wonderful old tavern. When he dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the day, he gave us a small bottle of local olive oil. The trip was a full day and we were tired by the end, but what a great day we had. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting a really special experience in Greece. George is 5 star.
