The view is amazing and the staff of the company is very nice and professional. The hotel we stayed for two nights is very new and we have all meal there.

Meteora bus tour great but better to book as standalone. Misleading "package deal"

The tour guides in Meteora itself were excellent and would highly recommend those bus tours as a standalone item. But the overall package deal was very disappointing value. The booking implies they will handle everything end to end, but actually they are totally hands off with the bus elements to and from Athens and Delphi. I was late for the bus by a few minutes and for the price I paid for a "package deal" would expect for them to wait for all guests to arrive. But when I called to tell them I would be a few minutes late I was told they didn't even have the direct contact of the driver, the bus left without me and I had to pay for train on my own to meet up with group in Meteora. They did not offer any reimbursement. Similarly for the return leg to Delphi they just drop you off and you have to deal with public bus back to Athens on your own. Also, the "3 star hotel" accommodation is more like 1 star... Overall I would definitely book the Meteora bus tour on its own. But if I dealt with my own transport and hotel bookings separately I could have had exactly the same experience for a much cheaper price. For something at this price point and something positioned as an all-in package deal it did not feel like an integrated hands-on service experience.

Geology, nature, history - this tour has it all

Wonderful! Initially I wasn't sure about signing up for the 3 day Meteora and Delphi 3 day tour. After spending time on a family holiday in Crete I had sent my husband and daughter back home as I had more time off work. It was a chunk of money to spend out of my holiday budget, but was worth every penny. After arriving from Athens into Kalambaka and being dropped off at Hotel Kaikis (really friendly staff) I had enough time for an impromptu visit to the Natural history and mushroom museum. This is an old school museum with lots of stuffed animals, but it was excellently done with grouping representative of the local ecology. Worth checking out the videos of the local birds of prey. Upstairs are models of all the mushrooms found locally, again grouped by ecosystem. Also includes info about uses and mythology. Really enjoyable and a good set up for the hiking option I chose for day 2 of the tour. I got back in time for the sunset tour. We were in a small group which was good. The sunset tour included far more than I'd expected, with views of most of the monasteries, a history of the use of the unique geology by hermits leading eventually to the monasteries, a visit to one monastery, and an old church partially built out of a preexisting temple of Apollo (fascinating). The monasteries provide a wrap around skirt if it is needed (no charge). Sunset was partially obscured by a cloud, but the colours were lovely. Apostoles our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny, and patient with me getting far too excited and wanting to ask all the questions in one go. Ares was our driver and I thought is was very nice that the god of battles took time out of his busy schedule to get us around safely. And I saw a tortoise! The next day in a different small group we had our hiking tour. I was a bit worried that my fitness wouldn't be good enough, but for the most part the walking was not too challenging although the temperature was on my side in April. The steps down later in the walk was the worst bit for me. Ares the driver got us to our location and Evan was our tour guide. He was very friendly and he was very knowledgeable about the geology and nature of the area. We saw many different orchids (April seems to be a good time for flowers). We also saw wild boar wallow (the stuffed boar in the museum was a good reference). This was a highlight. The area is truly beautiful and this is a great way to see it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also saw the inside of another monastery. After being dropped off in Kalambaka I had lunch with one of my fellow trekkers and then back to my hotel for a well deserved rest that afternoon. The next day it was time for my transfer to Delphi via Thermopylae. Imagine my surprise when it was just me and my lovely driver Stolos. We chatted about families, life in Greece, and the botany and wildlife of the area. All whole driving through some of the most stunning mountain scenery I have ever seen. The trip was worth it just for this. Stolos told me there is a mushroom festival in September which is a great reason for me to plan a repeat trip! At Delphi I was given my instructions to get the KTel bus. I went to the museum, saw the main site and the temple of Athena at the bottom. I rushed a bit, but in reality I had plenty of time. The ruins and museum were beautiful, but I have to say the mountains are still my highlight of the day. Getting the bus was easy and it didn't take long to get back to Athens. Apologies to everyone's name that I've got wrong.

Organized Tour

Tour was very organized; our guides Apostolis and Cristos were very knowledgeable and communicated very well, and driver Ares was punctual and friendly.

An Enchanting 3 Days

We arrived at the train station to catch our bus (as trains are currently not operating). BE AWARE: The bus was standing on the opposite side of the road from the mentioned cafe on the description. Nonetheless- we got on the buss in time! XD Now, this is a LONG busride- approximately 4h and 30m. Still, I was occupied with the views because Central Greece is stunning! (You'll also get a break 2 hours in to stretch your legs, have a quick snack or use the bathroom). Unfortunately, about 3h and 30m in- the bus broke down while heading up to the mountains. This was resolved rather quickly and the busdrivers remained professional throughout the incident. Still, it took up a bit of time. When we arrived in Kalambaka, we got some time (30m) to grab some lunch. After that, we headed to our minibusses and drove up to the mountains (Meteora). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Meteora's history and origins, and was very helpful in answering everyone's questions. Heading up to the monestaries- OMG. Breathtaking views, stunning interior and fascinating artifacts all for our eyes to see. We got to see 2 monasteries that day (day 1 of the trip)- the monasteries of Varlaam and St. Stephen. Amazing! Is it weird that I found some unexplained peace there? XD I recommend checking out the gift shop in St. Stephen as I found them to have the best selection. Some of the monasteries were closed that day, but we got to take some pictures from their exteriors as well as visiting the Sunset Rock for some enchanting fotos of the views. On day 2, we got to see 2 more monasteries- the monastery of Rousanou and Holy Trinity. Both are big climbs to say the least! Well worth the views, though. Tip: take pictures! Lots of them! We also revisited monastery Varlaam (free of charge!), which I found to be among my favorites along with St. Stephen. On day 3 we left Kalambaka and headed onto Delphi, but first we had a quick stop at Thermopylae to look at the Leonidas monument, which defintely crossed off some of our groups' bucket lists! Moving on to Delphi. The archeological sites did not disappoint, but there are a lot of people there even off-season, so bear that in mind! What we found the most interesting in Delphi was the museum. There were a lot more artifacts inside than I imagined, and overall they gave me a better impression on how Delphi was in its era. After grabbing some lunch, we headed to our bus to Athens, and therefore concluded our 3 day trip. What an experience!

Meteora magic!

This trip was definitely a highlight of our time in Europe. We visited not long after flooding in this part of Greece. I was worried we might not be able to get to Meteora due to the floods, but Visit Meteora Travel had everything covered to make sure we were able to see everything on this tour. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable with prompt pick ups and excellent tips for enjoying the monasteries. Our favourite day was when we did the hike to the hidden monastery. Very few tourists, fabulous scenery, excellent tour guide - it was a special day. Delphi didn't disappoint either. Whilst it was very hot, we had plenty of time to see the ruins and spend time in the excellent museum, have a great lunch before catching the bus back to Athens. It all went according to plan and was a fabulous 3 days!

Wonders of Meteora

Meteora is amazing , I feel so grateful to Visit Meteora on ground company and in particular our guide Katerina . She imparted so much knowledge to us and her passion for her home town and her personal experience with a cave monk have been the highlight of my travels ( I have been away 7 weeks ) Don’t miss this trip of a lifetime

The best experience of our holiday, even in difficult times!

20 stars out of 10 - we had an amazing experience, as the team at Visit Meteora Travel went utterly out of their way to help us poor (in reality “lucky”) stranded tourists get to Meteora from Athens when historic (and tragic) flooding hit the region and prevented us from getting there by train. What started out as an annoying inconvenience was met by the gravity of how bad things were, and yet we and a few others were picked up by an amazing, super lovely company driver/unexpected tour guide/travel companion (Evan) in collaboration with one of the co-owners (George) for our small Odyssey to Meteora, which ultimately took us multiple days to arrive and skirt around the flooding. for us to make life simple. We even ended up travelling back with the amazing George out of the region, who gave us his insight into regions and the fascinating history of Greece while we were all on the road. What could have simply been a classic 3-day tour experience was ultimately something we’ll remember for years, and we’d love to come back to the region because we’ve never had such an amazing experience from a tour anywhere in the world! We wish the team all the best, and hope that the region recovers quickly and never has to go through such anguish again. All the absolute best from NZ!

Great experience

Recently we returned from a three week vacation in Greece. It was a wonderful experience, and a big reason for that success was the assistance we received from Visit Meteora. This firm offered us two marvelous half-day tours of the historic area, including the fascinating monasteries that attract so many visitors. The tour bus picked us up at our hotel, and took us to the destination, where we had plenty of time to explore the site. At one point the tour leader observed that we might have difficulty keeping up, and after dropping off the group, took us to an alternate more-accessible monastery that was outstanding. In addition, because I was not able to drive in Greece, Visit Meteora helped us find transport to most of the cities on our itinerary. Prior to our departure from the USA, I had numerous discussions via email with the managers there making various arrangements that contributed so much to the success of our family vacation. When a sudden railroad strike left us stranded in Athens, Visit Meteora provided us a driver who picked us up there and took us to our destination in Meteora. We are so grateful for the services provided us by this firm, and look forward to joining them again on our next trip to Greece.

3 days in Greece

Wonderful region, kind people, relaxing trip . Delicious food in the small town of meteora. Third day(transfer to Delphi and back to Athens is a long day of travel.

Visit Meteora package was fantastic - highly recommend this experience.

This package was a brilliant way to experience Meteora and Delphi as it could be a challenging area to coordinate transport. Instructions were very clear, accommodation great and every pick up was very comfortable, on time and safe. Highly recommend Visit Meteora - they have nailed the co-ordination and manage the balance of taking the stress out of organising and creating a self guided experience without being part of a large group. Loved it! If you are fit enough - try the hike - it was a highlight.

Disorganized and disappointing

Do Not book the Meteora Delphi tour package! Although parts were positive (the tour guide and bus at meteora for example were lovely) we had an extremely frustrating experience. First, be forewarned that this is NOT a tour package. Rather it is a set of isolated tickets. In Delphi there is no tour. You are dropped off downtown and on your own until it’s time for the public bus. Get Your Guide (the operator. A different name but perhaps a subcontract deal?) was disorganized and hard to reach. For example, they gave us three different departure times in our email. When I followed up it took 30 min of very confusing run around to get an answer. In Delphi we were dropped off and told we could leave our luggage in an unattended unlocked room downtown. They said this is standard (?). Unfortunately, the hike to l and in Delphi were many miles. I had two children with me and a back problem that made it hard to carry luggage for a long distance. Finally Delphi is not particularly self-explanatory. One would think a tour would include a tour! No. The single meteora tours are fine. AVOID THIS PACKAGE

Confusing start

We had no info about itinerary once we arrived at train station. We found our names and were told to get on this bus but suddenly our names were called to get off the bus to go to our hotels where we were dropped off. No one could provide any information? We booked the tour separately and figured we would be at the same hotel but were not. Took a while to find someone to check me in and he finally provided some into but was still in the dark about the full 3 day tour. Would have been nice to receive some info on how all this was going to work time wise. The guides and tour were good...

Highly recommend VisitMeteora

We like this company very well. Communications were clear, responsive and straightforward upfront. Travel arrangements were timely with good, friendly, knowledgeable drivers. We customized our trip for pick up from our Athens Hotel and direct taxi from Delphi to our hotel in Cape Sounion for a reasonable price. They provided our choice of hotel from their list, which is Archontiko Mesohori. We loved this family-run B&B in every way, the apartments, the location amidst the rocks, the breakfast and the family. VisitMeteora tours were very well organized, the tour guides excellent, the stops fun and appropriate. Timing for each stop good. Moderate level of physical fitness required. Altogether, despite some rainy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days 2 nights tour in every way. Thank you.

Visit Meteora did justice to one of the most extraordinary places in the world

Absolutely no regrets about dedicating nearly 1/3 of our time in Greece to Meteora with this tour. We were a bit nervous about the metro in Athens, given some of the comments in reviews, but it was super easy. Our actual times for departing were not as early as indicated by the information posted here, which was another bonus. Other logistics were also great. For example, the train was easy to understand and pleasant. (However, the hotel was passable. Wouldn't have picked it if it were up to me, and I won't stay there again.) The tours were absolutely stunning and unforgettable. I can't say enough good things about our tour and our tour guide. We definitely want to come back to Greece, and this tour is a key motivator. We'd like to return to Kalambaka -- the food tasted like it'd just been picked from the vine. We definitely want to spend more time in and around Delphi. And we'd like to return to Meteora, maybe in the winter.

Great Trip!

This trip was absolutely amazing. The people were friendly, Meteora and Delphi amazing, and the organisation was stellar. The whole trip felt easy and stress free despite the reliance on public transport. Genuinely, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Exceptional Tour

Was extremely pleased with the coordination of the whole trip, from train tickets, pick ups to and from the train and our exceptional taxi driver who provided such wonderful knowledge to Delphi and our knowledgeable tour guides , Katorina and Nikolo , and drivers to the monasteries. Our hotels were exceptional. Really loved the stay at our quaint hotel Archontiko Mesohori , outside the town of Kalamabaka. Could sit outside and see the Meteora cliffs. The four day, three night tour was exceptional !!

Waste of money for DIY tour

Beautiful views, Great experience My trip was 4 days actually, I paid Max amount to get a fully escorted Guided experience, But I am been totally ripped off ????? Great trip, I thought I was in a fully guided group tour , but many time I am left to fend for myself getting incredibly lost in train station in Delphi ( I exited the wrong station, station was NOT labeled even in Greek), no one from the company assured me My return bus will run from Delphi to Athens. I paid €600 for a DIY experience??? I could have fine this myself and book me a 2 day tour on Meteora. 1st day was Excellent, the guide did excellent explanations, 2nd day the guide hardly explained anything, I am pretty much on my own. Delphi I was pick up by someone, but rest of tour in Delphi was “ Self Guided” then I was given a bus ticket to take myself back to Athens with no guarantee it will run and I was told if bus doesn’t run I have to pay the company extra to get back to Athens On top of the €600 I already paid. Don’t waste your money, buy a guide book and plan your own trip😕

Fantastic tour to Meteora and Delphi

Everything about the tour was amazing and very well organized: - The train ride from Athens to Kalambaka was smooth, train was on time and very nice - Since I was visiting in December, Visit meteora suggested I joined another tour instead of the sunset tour. They were waiting for me at the train station when I arrived in Kalambaka. I visited 3 monasteries and our guide, Maria, was excellent, very informative and funny - The hotel was nice, breakfast was great - The hiking tour was amazing, Chris also was a very nice guide and I had a great time discovering Meteora on foot - Taxi driver from the hotel to the train station was again very nice and helpful, went in with me to ask if the train was on time - Train from Kalambaka to Levidia was again smooth, I had to change trains but it was all very clear - Taxi driver from Levadia to Delphi was amazing, he gave me a lot of information about the surroundings, the archeological site, how to get to the bus after the Delphi visit, etc… - Visit to Delphi archeological site was beautiful, plenty of time to visit everything and had a great lunch at the cafe where I could store my luggage - Bus from Delphi back to Athens was the only thing that was not perfect: it took almost 4 hours instead of 2 and the bus was quite full, very hot and made a lot of stops along the way All in all a very good experience, highly recommended, and a big thank you to Visit Meteora for the spotless organizations and all the amazing and very nice people I met along the way!

A great tour outfitter

I took the 3 day rail tour to Meteora & Delphi. Visit Meteora's travel services and coordination was one of the best I have seen during my fairly extensive travels. They though of every detail. They kept you informed at every point thru the journey via email or thorugh their drivers. All the tour guides and drivers spoke excellent English. A special thank you to Costas, our hike tour guide who was excellent. Despite the continous rain, he made it a memorable hike. There were times the path was muddy/slippery/rocky and he held my arm through the rough spots with expertise. I would highly recommend this tour company. Book it and don't think twice. You will enjoy your Meteora excursion, no matter which tour you book, Personally, I enjoyed having two days (2 nights) ... to me the same day train travel would have felt rushed. Having Delphi stop on the return was lovely too.

Great Experience…must do adventure

We are so happy we did this tour. It was put together remarkably well. We felt very well taken care of. The hikes were magnificent and the guides were so knowledgeable. The company was very professional and the customer service was impeccable. We highly recommend this tour.

Excellent

This a well planned and enjoyable visit. The tour guides were excellent and I am so glad that we took the time to see this unique world heritage site. Visit Meteora did a flawless job on making all the arrangements and communicating all the steps involved. Even providing a list of all the stations that the train would stop at. They booked us a nice hotel that was so comfortable and provided a great breakfast. They had everything planned and worked out even from the cab picking us up to go to Delphi and a place to keep our baggage while we went to Delphi. This was excellent planning and helped us enjoy a once in a lifetime experience.

Amazing Meteora tour

We had the best time on our three day tour. The sunset tour the first evening was so informative and beautiful. We did the hiking tour the second day and this was incredible! Highly recommended. Visit Meteora was so easy and wonderful to work with, they took care of everything (logistics of transportation and hotels) which was so appreciated!

Very beautiful place, just be cautious in the trains

We took the 3 day by train tour to Meteora and Delphi. Unfortunately, my trip didn't have the best of starts as my wallet was stolen in Athens just as we entered the train to Kalambaka. I was in trauma for the first half of the day but my spirits were lifted after doing the evening tour in the second half. No qualms about the Hotel Odysseon. It was pretty stylish and they even helped break locks on my suitcase because the key was lost with the stolen wallet. On the second day, we visited three monasteries and took the day off to rest in the hotel. In both tours, the tour guides were very knowledgeable, spoke fluent English and were generally great people. On the third day, we took the train to Delphi and our connection cab was there on-time. He took us to Delphi, helped us store our luggage in local restaurant. Delphi was beautiful, especially the temple of Athena. All the connection cabs were on-time and helped get us to our destinations. The trip was very much a great experience (albeit the fiasco at the beginning/no fault of the tour company though). My suggestion would be to not keep wallets in your pant pockets while traveling in the trains.

Meteora is absolutely stunning even in cold December!

We did the 3-day, 2-night rail tour of Meteora and Delphi. Other than some confusion finding the right train and seats (there was no English announcements or signs confirming where the train was heading, and the cars numbers were not clearly marked), we got to Kalabaka just fine. Our tour van looked new and was very comfortable! We were put up in a triple room at the Monastiri Guesthouse, about a 10min walk to the town center. There was some overlap in the Sunset tour and morning Monastery tour in terms of the vista points we visited and the information shared, but we were happy to see the beautiful Meteora area twice under different light conditions. We had two different tour guides and I personally got more out of the second guide. There were some really nice cafes and restaurants in the Kalabaka town center to spend the evenings and afternoons. The ride to Delphi was longer than I expected. The whole trip felt a little rushed and underwhelming, so if you don’t have time, you might want to skip it.

Divine and Natural Beauty

We booked for the 3-day Meteora /Delphi but due to the train problem (from Kalambaka station), we missed to see Delphi. However, the experience was compensated by getting to visit more monasteries. We enjoyed the visits after all. All of the Visit Meteora staff were accommodating and professional; special mention to Jim and Eva (tour guides) and Socrates and Dinos (drivers). They were knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot from them. Also, the office staff gave us updates and refund quickly. We are very pleased with their service. The van was clean and modern (WIFI and USB charge capable :) Meteora is indeed an amazing and spiritual place. It's worth your time to see central Greece. We had a great trip.

Well organized, great guides, good combination of tours and flexibility!

We did the 3 day/2 night tour from Athens to Meteora and Delphi on the way back. Normally we'd organize the transport etc on our own but it was a little last minute so we paid the premium to not have to worry about the details and it was worth it. All you have to do is get yourself to the station and have your tickets on you. Good combination of having time to chill in the hotel, wander around town and having the organized tours: Sunset Tour - much longer and more in depth than we expected with a knowledgeable fun local guide; Half Day Hiking Tour - we loved to not just be shuttled around by a van and get out into nature and get a bit of a different perspective, also with a great guide. Transfers to Delphi and back are also organized. Only downside was that for our mode of "slow travel" rather than rushing through everything, the time in Delphi was a bit short, but ok, probably not much choice with limited train schedules. If I was in Greece longer I'd probably do Delphi and the surrounding area separately by car but Meteora was excellent with the variety of tours!!!

Worth the time and money!

We chose the three night trip that included Delphi. The trip to Meteora is one of the highlights of our five week trip to Greece and Italy. All of our travel connections were perfectly coordinated and the guides very knowledgeable. We were happy with the Lodging accommodations. I will recommend this trip to all our friends wanting to travel to Greece.

Well-organized and responsive

Except for some nitpicky details, the 4-day/3-nt Meteora and Delphi tour was the perfect option for two experienced female travelers. It very smoothly administered -- all the train, bus, and hotel reservations were made for us (with two Meteora tours included) but we still had to find our own way to the Athens train station, take the correct train, figure out the railcar/seat number system, and transfer/disembark at the right stations ... just enough challenge to make us feel like we were traveling independently but with the luxury of being met at our destinations. Administratively, Visit Meteora was very responsive and helpful. My companion actually had to cancel at the last moment after her father passed away and Visit Meteora worked quickly to cancel/adjust/refund as much as they could. We very much appreciated their help on very short notice. As for the very nitpicky details that could be improved upon -- I was never told when I'd be picked up for a 3pm tour so wasn't ready when the van showed up at 2:40pm, and the train transfer instructions for Palaeofarsalos (on the way to Delphi) could have mentioned changing to another track. But really, I mean those as constructive suggestions. The entire tour was wonderful and I highly recommend choosing the hiking option in Meteora (Evan? was terrific) for a different look at the impressive rock formations and precariously perched monasteries. Hiking shoes are best but walking shoes with good tread are fine. All in all, I highly recommend using Visit Meteora Travel!

Stunning Meteora

Booked the 4 day rail trip to Meteora and Delphi. All went off without a hitch, connections at the railway stations and taxi connections. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. The Sunset tour was outstanding and finding the best spots to take a photo brought about exceptional photos. The guide was very knowledgeable and a great deal of fun. The hiking tour the next day was the highlight of my trip to the Greek mainland. Again a very knowledgeable guide and to see the monasteries from such a different perspective was wonderful. Awesome 4 days.

A good tour

Very good communications and directions. We enjoyed the sunset tour and the hike. A little apprehensive about train travel between Meteora and Delphi but it all worked out well. Hotels were comfortable.

3 Day Meteora Trip

Getting on and off the trains was a bit of a struggle but I believe additional instructions have now been added to make this part of the trip more pleasant. Other than that, all arrangements were good and the guides were very knowledgeable and seemed to love their job. Bus pickups were on time and drivers very helpful and cheerful.

One of a Kind Experience

First of all, Meteora is a must go location and one of the top things we did on our Greece trip. I will be encouraging anyone I know who’s thinking of traveling to Greece to go to Meteora. The monasteries are like nothing I have ever seen before and the landscape was truly magical. The visit Meteora trip in general was very easy and worth the money. Our tour guides were so helpful and informative and we really loved both of them. The only drawback to the trip is that I wished we had had more time in Delphi since it felt very rushed there and there was so much more to see than we had time for. If I could do it all again, I’d ask to extend the trip somehow to have a night or two in Delphi as well.

Well organised tour of Meteora and Delphi

I did the 4 day rail tour of Meteora and Delphi with Visit Meteora. It was a great itinerary, plenty of time for monastery visits and exploring Delphi, and the well organised connections meant you could cover a lot in a short time. When a rail strike was called the day before the trip started, the Visit Meteora team organised a bus to pick us all up from Athens in place of the train. SPECTACULAR Tour!!!

We just did this in September. We are not typically people who travel in tour groups ever. However, the staff and amenities were top notch with Visit Meteora and I can't thank them enough! We were in a small group of 12 or so for the sunset tour. Unfortunately weather was not ideal, but the views were still stunning. Vasilis, our tour leader, was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. I wish we stopped at a different overlook for photos, but those are the sacrifices of being on someone else's plan/tour. The next morning we did the hike with 7 others. It rained, but after an hour it broke into sunshine. The hike was the BEST part of seeing Meteora. The guide was a local rockclimber who grew up in the area and had lots of information. He took us to a remote monastery where our group was the only visitors at the time. DO THIS TOUR b/c Meteora can be a bit busy/overrun with tour bus groups. Hiking around took us off the alll too beaten path of the busloads. Visit Meteora arranged top notch, cool hotels to stay at. We loved Hotel Theatro Odysseon (amazing breakfast, excellent customer service and intriguing interior). Other guests on the tour loved their hotels, too. All great choices by Visit Meteora! Also I highly recommend that if you have flexibility in your schedule, pay attention to which monasteries are open which days as you won't be disappointed that one/more are closed on your planned visit. Delphi was hot and crowded. All of the travel arrangements made by Visit Meteora (train, bus and taxi) were efficient and professional. Kalambaka and Kastraki are both cute towns with lots of places to eat/enjoy.

We did a 3 night 4 day travel by train Meterora/Delphi trip and it was amazing. Everything was well planned, on time, everyone was friendly, the tours were great, we enjoyed ourselves very much. The hotel was pleasant, everything was great. I would recommend getting an extra day at Delphi to be able to enjoy it more.

3-Day Meteora Tour - July 2019

I was a solo traveler so wanted to book a tour that was all organized before I left. This one fit the bill and the team at Visit Meteora were a pleasure to work with. They answered all my emails efficiently and honestly. I took the train from Athens (stayed near Acropolis metro for easy travel to train line) and guide was waiting in Kalambaka to drive me to my hotel. A local run hotel which was a little vintage in look and feel but the owners were very nice and accommodating. Had a great view of mountains too. Though the weather didn't go my way (cloudy), I still manage to get a nice view for the sunset tour. The view alone, sunny or not, is breathtaking. The next day I had the 1/2 day hike...in the rain. Again, not what I was hoping for but it gave me a different feel of the mountains and monasteries with all the mist. Evan was a great guide too. With 75mm of rain and more to come, I asked if I could change my train from pm to am on 3rd day so I could at least get some sun in Athens and they were happy to do it for me. Overall, a great experience.

3-Day, 2-night Meteora / Delphi train trip

I was looking for a way to get to Meteora and Delphi, from Athens, without having to get on a bus with 50 of my 'closest friends.' I found this trip, and it was perfect! They arranged my train ticket to Kalambaka (for the monasteries of Meteora), picked me up at the train station and took me to a lovely guest house, which they had arranged. I then had the choice of a couple of small-group tours. I chose the evening sunset and morning hiking tours. Both were a fabulous way to see the area, without dealing with busloads of tourists. On the third day, a driver picked me up at my guest house and took me back to the train station, for the beginning of the trip back. I took the train to a town outside of Delphi, where a driver picked us up (there were 6 or 7 other people doing this trip) and took us to Delphi. I had a couple of hours to explore (which was enough for me), and then I got on a bus back to Athens. All of it arranged by Meteora Travel, and all of it came off perfectly.

3-day Meteora/Delphi Trip

We were extremely pleased with the Meteora portion of the trip. The logistics were well planned out and the drivers and hotel they selected were wonderful. Vans for pick ups and tours were clean, comfortable, well air conditioned, had water for us. Tour guides were excellent and we learned a lot about the places. They provided good amount of time for us to look around. The Delphi part was just ok. At the last minute, our train time in the morning changed so we didn’t have enough time in Delphi to make it meaningful. If we had known enough in advance, we would have asked to travel down to Delphi the afternoon before, after our Meteora tours were over, so we would have enough time to take in Delphi. The optional Audio guide that we paid for was not really a guide at all but supplemental stories about the area. It was interesting and worth the money but didn’t really help us to understand what we were looking at in Delphi. If we had the original amount of time, we would’ve been able to read everything in the museum and at the site to learn, but really, we would’ve booked a tour guide to help us get more out of the experience. The audio was nice, but not a replacement for a tour guide or for really understanding what was going on. It’s possible the change in train schedule wasn’t their fault, however, given we paid them to sort out logistics and provide us with a meaningful experience, I would’ve expected that they would identify the issue and offer a suitable solution. Other than Delphi, we were very happy with the tour and would recommend them.

Meteora Hiking Tour

My Wife and I booked the 3D2N Meteora/Delphi by Railway from Athens with the company. They were very responsive and they provided clear instructions to take the train. The Dellas Boutique Hotel was booked for our stay, which was very lovely. We enjoyed both the Sunset Tour and Hiking Tour on 14 June. The guides and drivers were professional. I thought the hiking tour was conducted brilliantly. The guide (can’t remember his name) was informative and took good care of the group during the hike. It was really enjoyable. 3 Night tour from Athens to Meteora to Delphi to Athens

Visit Meteora provided an excellent service both whilst booking and during the tour. We had many questions, and desired a slightly customized itinerary. Visit Meteora provided very rapid responses to questions, and provided exactly what we wanted. The Meteora and Delphi areas are fascinating & beautiful, and the whole experience was greatly enhanced by feeling that Visit Meteora was an efficient organisation taking into account what the customer wanted. We took part in the Sunset & the Hike tours, and both were absolutely perfect with knowledgeable, interesting & friendly guides. Visit Meteora arranged chauffeur car transport from Meteora to Delphi, which was punctual, comfortable with an excellent careful and very polite driver who also told us a lot about Greece that only a native could do. Overall a holiday to remember.

Fabulous Hiking with Cristos.

We booked the the three day Meteora and Delphi tour. The travel arrangements worked like clockwork. The hiking tour was fabulous all thanks to Cristos who was very knowledgeable and attentive. He paced the hike very well, took us to lovely viewpoints. He also provided us with poles when climbing. The flapjacks were delicious and a nice reward for hiking up. We also took the sunset tour with Vangelis who showed us a lot of sites. Dinos who drove the bus was friendly, always smiling and loved to take pictures for us in various poses. Thank you Visit Meteora for a memorable and unforgettable trip to Meteora.

3 Day Meteora and Delphi

Absolutely fantastic tour from start to finish! All the logistics were extremely organised and everything ran like clockwork. As part of my package I had the Sunset Tour and Half-day Tour and the the tour guide for both was so knowledgeable and engaging - I was hanging on every word! The connection to Delphi was seamless as well. SO glad I arranged this through them - I usually arrange logistics myself but after doing it I am very happy that I arranged this through them. What impressed me the most though was how they dealt with unexpected difficulties. On the Half-day Tour some of the attendees were set to return to Athens by train that evening (they hadn't booked the Delphi package like I had), but the trains were all suddenly cancelled (which can happen sometimes in Greece). Even though it wasn't their fault (it was simply the trains), Visit Meteora took it upon themselves to drive those customers back to Athens in their luxury minibus for free to ensure they would continue on their desired itineraries. Very classy! Would highly recommend as you would be in good hands!

Booked the 3-day, 2-night trip to Meteora and Delphi. It was extremely well-done, totally taken care of, and great value for the money! We felt like the details were all thought of, the arrangements were all well thought out, and the guides AWESOME! This company knows how to maximize your experience and minimize your effort to plan a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The upgrade to 1st Class train tickets was worth it, and the hotel in Kalabaka was perfect. I would definitely recommend this company — and have no negatives to report. As an aside, in hindsight we would probably not have done Delphi. The public bus from Delphi to Athens was not the most pleasant experience — but did get us from point A to B.

3 Days/2 Nights Tour from Athens to Meteora and Delphi - Highly recommended!

We joined the sunset tour and the hiking tour on two consecutive days (before travelling from Meteora to Delphi). All in all it was a great experience with excellent and friendly guides on both tours, a perfect hotel to stay and a very good shuttle service to the train station. Especially the hike (about 4.5 hours) was very nice because you get a totally different and very impressive perspective of the Meteora monasteries. A tour with Visit Meteora Travel is absolutely recommended!

3 day Kalambaka - Delphi Tour

I will preface this review by saying that we did this in the middle on january (low season in Greece). We booked the 3 day tour (Athens - Kalambaka - Delphi - Athens). Even when just trying to get info/plan the trip, company was quick and helpful with helping us plan the trip. Also, we calculated total cost of booking everything ourselves (train/bus tickets, tours, hotels) and the cost is comparable to the tour price so my suggestion is to save yourself the hassle (and google translating greek on some websites) and let the company do the work, they email you all the tickets about 3 weeks prior to activity. Day 1: take an 8am tour from athens to kalambaka, about a 5 hour ride. we bought regular class seats and were fine (again middle of january so train not too busy). We booked sunset tour the first day, and were picked up by the Visit Meteora van in kalambaka. They gave us a 15 min snack/restroom break and then started tour immediately (sunset is early in winter). Vasilis was a good guide and gave insightful information about kalambaka and the sights we were seeing. We were driven to 2 monasteries and made plenty of stops at "unique panoramic views". St Nikolaus is a little challenging due to the steep incline but nothing too awful. Sunset itself was one of the most beautiful things we have ever seen. We stayed at Grand Meteora Hotel both nights (good beautiful hotel, we were maybe 1 of 4-5 people staying,not joking). Day 2: you can opt for hiking tour vs another van tour to the other monasteries. We did the hiking tour and it ended up being one our favorite things on our entire trip. Christo was our guide, spoke perfect english, and we spoke about everything, meteora related and otherwise. The hike itself was about 4 miles through the forest and mountains, we did have some snow and ice on the ground. We are semi fit people (not athletic by any means) and though it was a little challenging on the inclines, we never felt overwhlemed. We went at a good pace and Chris even provided locally baked fig bars during the break! The views were breathtaking and the hike offers a completely different way to see greece. We ended with going to Grand Meteoron monastery (another 100 or so steps up!) Day 3: starts with a 5am train ride out of kalambaka -- transfer to different train at Paleofarsalos, get off at Levadia, then a private taxi will drive you the rest of the way to delphi (tour does good job of summarizing this for you). Takes almost 5 hours total travel. You can store your bags at a cafe called Ydria, I would buy a coffee from him but thats about it because it is ridiculously expensive. You can visit the Delphi museum and the archeological site on your own (or hire a guide yourself beforehand). We wish Visit Meteora planned this part a little more, maybe by having a dedicated tour guide as this day is not well structured. The site is also on a hill so more incline walking up but offers an amazing view of Delphi, the valley, and the Corinthian Bay. We took our time and were done in 4 hours, which leaves 2 hours until your bus ride to athens. Because it was the winter, the town was mostly dead. All in all, we were glad we booked this tour and would highly recommend this to everyone who visits Greece.
