Clament was an awesome tour guide! The whole trip was something out this world. Seeing Meteora and learning about its history was surreal. The bus ride was comfortable, the pit stops were perfectly timed, lunch was pretty good and the time spent at the actual location was the perfect amount. Highly recommend.

Very nice tour

Wonderful tour! Our tour guide was very nice and knowledgable. The monasteriwa and the viewa are incredible. The trip from Athens is long so be prepared, but totally worth it.

Amazing 🤩

What an amazing tour from start to finish. Very well organised with a very knowledgeable tour leader (Clement) he truly was passionate about what we were going to see and do. Be prepared for a memorable tour. A long day but worth it. Lunch was very good and a varied choice to choose from. We would highly recommend this tour.

A Worthwhile Countryside Trip

An interesting experience. See how Greeks travel outside the hustle and bustle of city life for a countryside view of their beautiful landscape. Our English speaking guide, Clement, was full of historical information and was entertaining. You could feel his enthusiasm and love for this area when he spoke of the history in these monasteries. We visited 3 monastaries ( monastery of St. Stephen, Agios Stefanos & Roussanou) and my kids (9 and 12) were very impressed. The views are incredible! Our guide truly wanted us to have a grand experience and would ask my kids what they thought. Highly recommend this tour!

5-star your with Stacy

The bus experience from Athens was 2 star. Our local guide, Stacy was 5+ stars! The bus driver did a good job driving (admittedly the most important thing!) but communication was terrible. He told us the wifi password, barked out that we had 30 min at our first stop and that was it. On the 2nd stop, he said nothing. Nobody knew what to do. The bus didn't have charging ports and the AC barely worked. It was very warm and uncomfortable . The time with our local guide, Stacy and her driver, however, was great! Stacy was friendly, informative and patient. We learned a lot and were enthralled with the geology, architecture, history and sheer beauty of the place. Food stops were adequate. It was a long day, but totally worth it and we'd recommend it - with a better bus to and from Athens!

Meteora amazing

Beautiful sites Local guide was very good 4 hour bus ride each way to and from the 3 monasteries we visited but actually got to see 5 out of 6 of them in totality. Bus was reasonably comfortable Food was not expensive but we’ve had much better quality at all the other sites we have visited.

Amazing day trip tour

Amazing day trip tour! We were a bit skeptical while booking due to the long drive from Athens to get to Meteora but it was well worth every minute and every Euro spent. The tour was very well organized, drivers were professional and the tour leader, Clement, was wonderful, providing us with precious info to understand the context of such beauties. Highly recommend if you have the chance to plan a day out of Athens.

One of the places you must see in your life

The tour was really well organized, although the road from Athens is quite far (about 4 hours each way), but the buses are really comfortable with sockets and wifi. On the spot you have optional lunch (which i recommend) and change to minivans with guide. Our tour guide was just fantastic, so energetic and knowleadgable, that you really see that he lives his profession and he shows us so many secret places! As for monasterys itselfs - they just leave you breathless and definitely one of the most amazing place on our planet. Highly recommend

There are number of Meteora tours however this one stands out among others, I recommend the optional lunch.

Well organized tour throughout breathtaking natural rock formations and amazing structures built with very little resources, containing precious artifacts, collection of ancient documents, beautiful chapels with collections of pieces of art. Our english speaking lady tour guide (forgot the name but with blue eyes :) was well prepared, energetic and organized, answering any question one would ask. Recommended.

Incredible. Although the trip up to Meteora takes a bit of time from Athens (4.5hrs each way) it is well worth it to see these incredible monasteries. This is a must on anyone’s bucket list. Words and pictures just don’t do it justice. Out tour guide Nancy was very informative.

Not worth it

Crowded and old buses which made the long ride way worse. They stop by bad places to eat, so it’s not a good deal to pay the extra money for lunch.

Road trip out to Meteora !

Meteora was Amazing!! Highly recommended. The road trip out was a bit long (5* hrs) Lunch provided by tour was very ordinary and NO second helpings to the food or choices of beverage. Tour rep & driver were very informative.

Breathtaking views

This trip was awesome and well worth the long drive. The views from the cliffs overlooking the monasteries were surreal as was the monasteries themselves. Our tour guide Stacie (the one with the cool converse shoes) was really informative and did a great job explaining the history and pointing out spots where old monasteries used to stand. Great day, great tour and Id love to re-visit in autumn.

Excellent adventure!

Excellent adventure. Our guide to the monasteries gave us information on each aspect of the visit. He was helpful in offering to take pictures and pose us on the mountains. Breathtaking scenery.

A must when you visit Greece.

What an unbelievable experience, highly recommend it! No matter what you see in pictures, in person is 10 times better, from the breathtaking landscape to the incredible architecture and engineering of the monasteries. We also have an incredible tour guide.

MUST-DO METEORA

While it's certainly a long day (with 4-hour long drives [plus breaks] to and from Meteora), the whole of this incredible site - with visits to three of the monasteries [separate payments] - this is a MUST-DO if it works for Athens visitors... The driver and guide were personable and helpful and had great English. One thing to note, different monasteries are open on different days, so if one wants to see a specific monastery ("the biggest and best" was NOT open on the day I went, a Friday, eg), try to work out the optimum day to visit.

Nice tour 1 day trip from Athens

Interesting tour, everything was on time and we got a lot of information. Enthoustiastic young crew. You go into the monesteries on your own they don't join to give you information inside. Other groups had guides that showed their groups around in the monesteries as well. If you are not interested in that this tour is a good option for you.

Stunning tour

The whole experience was second to none. Once the bus stopped at Meteora we were greeted with our guide who looked after us the whole time. 5 hours of absolute awe! Highly recommend this for go getters who want to get around and see everything. Timing was spot on in all monasteries as well . Absolutely loved this tour!

Clove and Clover Experience for English Tour

English Tour The views were amazing, but the itinerary was hard to access so remember no showing shoulders or knees must wear a skirt, not pants if a woman... they rent scrafs to who don't have skirts. The 3 monasteries change by the day so you don't know which one you will enter. I wish we had gone with the original date we would have been able to try honey on the Wednesday. we went Tuesday to the male monetary and female nun monetary and one more. The food was not great only 30 minutes for lunch with 3 buses full, for dinner you had to pay and had 40 minutes since our AWESOME tour guide clover and clave said we were early leaving every place they were the best part of the trip with history and taking photos for anyone who asked and were just lovely. We got to go to a secret place to take photos and it was just beautiful. Recommendations: BUY SNACKS and DRINKS at the first pit stop and the second since it is 5 hours drive to and from. The train station did not have good breakfast. Personally I needed more food and drinks then expected for a full day of bus and touring, oh the AC on the bus to and from was not great, remember to ask for the WIFI password and the AC with the tour guides was great.

Unbelievable humam achievement

Seeing the unbelievabke courage and resilience of those Monks in that era to build a magnificent monasteries in that very challenging area of this planet.

Tryst with the clouds.

The trip was good. Unfortunately the weather played spoilsport. The best part was our guide Maria who made everything so interesting. Her way of explaining was very good. The driver of our bus to Meteora wasn’t exactly polite. Could do better. The breaks could have been shorter as the trip became too long. Drinking water could also be provided on route.

Fabulous tour to incredible monasteries.

Fabulous tour. It’s a long drive in the bus from Athens to Meteora return, but well worth the time. The bus is comfortable and clean with heating/aircon and wifi. We visited 3 monasteries and had plenty of time in each. The monasteries are amazing. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. It rained a lot but that didn’t put a damper on the day or let us see any less. We also stopped for a few photo ops in different spots. The lunch and dinner stops were at like roadhouse type places - not amazing, we took our own snacks. Good that lunch or dinner not included, keeps price down. Really enjoyed the tour.

Amazing tour guide and views

This trip was amazing, especially due to our tour guide Maria. She was super knowledgeable and energetic which made the tour so much more fun for us. The monasteries and views are stunning. You do have to sit on the bus for a long time each way, but it's 4 hours outside of Athens, so that was expected. It's not too bad if you prepare and bring a book and snacks, plus there are stops every 2 hours. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour and would especially recommend Maria to be your tour guide.

Amazing views and guide

Brilliant day but a very long day

The local guide we had in Meteora was brilliant. The lunch location was great and the lunch itself was also great, lots of selections and the food was very good. The bus ride from Athens to and from Meteora was long but it was comfortable and the driver we had was great. The rest stops we made were well timed and the facilities were good. It was just a very long day but it was well worth it

A Memorable, Eye-opening trip!

It was an amazing, once in a lifetime trip! The scenery was stunning and the experience was eye-opening! The guide Nadia and the driver Nick were both exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help! Nadia answered every single question we asked with a lot of patience. Both Nadia and Nick initiatively offered to take pictures for everyone. They made their best efforts to optimize the trip and stopped at quite a few viewpoints so that everyone could take a lot of pictures. I would strongly recommend Nadia, Nick and Meteora Throne to my friends and the people who have the same need.

Meteora spiritual wonder

Meteora was awe inspiring. Very spiritual. Our roots in Christianity and the dedication are in every rock. Our tour guide Clement made the whole experience!!! His passion showed with every detail he spoke about. Would definitely recommend him and will ask for him on our next tour. Of which we will be bringing family along

Best way to experience Meteora

Getting to Meteora from Athens is not easy, so we are so glad we let this tour company take care of logistics for us. They cleared the way for us to simply enjoy the majesty of this incredible place. Our tour guide once we arrived, Clement, simply could not have been better. His love of the place shone through and he was so excited to share Meteora with us. We experienced much more than we expected - touring 3 monasteries and viewing all six, pulling over for the best overviews and stories, and taking time to enjoy the spirituality and incredible nature. The tour of Meteora was absolutely a highlight of our trip to Greece. Know that you definitely need hiking shoes, the lunch stop is bascially a travel depot, and it's a very long day. It takes four hours to get there from Athens, you tour for five hours, and then you drive four hours back. While long though, the bus was suprisingly comfortable. Don't miss Meteora!

Meteora in May

I would give our tour guide five stars - so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Genuinely wants to help and educate. It was also crafted so the most walking (uphill) was done first, so each stop after is shorter and easier. Breathtaking views. Lots of chances to stop for food/water/toilets. If you can, book for the included lunch! I would absolutely recommend this tour. Incredible experience! May is a nice time to go as it’s warming up but still cool, and there are lots of little spring flowers around.

Ride to Meteora was not all that great. Once there it was wonderful

The bus ride was long and the a/c didn't work well. The wifi was poor but other than that the tour was fantastic. Once we got to Meteora it was beautiful, we changed to a smaller bus with our tour guide who was amazing. For the next 5 hrs we had a wonderful time. Be prepared to walk up alot of steps to get to some of the monasteries. Well worth it in the end.

Stunning views

The views were absolutely stunning and was definitely worth the trip from Athens. However, I expected a bit more of walking/active trip. It was not, as you moved around solely by bus. The tour guide was really nice and knew a lot about the history of the area and the monasteries!

Great destination, trip could have been better

On this one I think it’s important to talk about the trip (3 stars) separately from the destination (5 stars) as the overall experience could have been better. Firstly, it’s about a 15 hour day, with roughly 5 hours travelling each way, plus 5 hours at Meteora. Given the distance from Athens there’s not much you can do about that, but it’s a *long* time. There is a rest stop for 30-40 minutes half way along at a decent hut busy motorway service station. On the day we went there were two coaches from Athens to the meeting point and food stop outside Meteora. When we got there, the guides were waiting and split people into groups depending on the language for the tour. The English ones stayed with the large coach and the others had were in a minibus each, but it wasn’t clear what was going on at the time. It would have been better if this was explained in advance. Those who had paid for the included food were given vouchers which got you a small salad and a choice of meal, but it was fairly random and low quality. Pasta, rice, potatoes, a chicken leg, some sort of stew thing with meat in it…. My strong advice is to buy a baguette and crisps from the previous stop or bring your own packed lunch, and then get a fresh drink, as there’s nothing else here. The first monastery has the most steps to descend and climb, but is a fascinating place in a stunning location. We were there about 50 minutes. At the second monastery there are slightly less steps but the queue was horrendous. With a 45 minute stop, we had been queueing for half an hour before giving up and buying an ice cream as we were still nowhere near the entrance. More than half our group did the same and missed out. On one hand it’s outside of the tour organisers control, but if it’s not going to be realistic to get in, then why waste everyone’s time like this? The third monastery was the quickest to get into with no steps and very organised nuns running it. Again, a fascinating place with stunning views and an amazing church. Our time ended with a longer photo opportunity on one of the main rock formations, but there had also been quick stops en-route for pictures. The guide had been helpful and informative as we went round. On the return journey there were the same two food stops, so eat at the better one at the mid point. We got back at 10:45 pm.

Nice views!

-they knew months ahead of time that the train wouldn’t run but didn’t tell us, which felt a little like bait-and-switch marketing -the bus was very small and was really uncomfortable for tall people (our group ranged from 5'7'' to 6'4'') -really nice and enthusiastic tour guide, but not a ton of info provided -nice timing to have the sunset view -not quite as “wow” as we had expected based on other reviews, but very pretty and cool

Worth the long trip from Athens!

It's a bit far from Athens but the roads were good and you spend most of the time on the highway. It wasn't really a big issue - bring a book and enjoy the views. I was a bit worried when I saw three large buses in Athens, but then they switch you to a small minibus with 10-20 people for the tour itself. Maria was a great guide - knowledgeable and able to give thoughtful answers to the group's questions. We had a little bit of time left at the end so she squeezed in some extra views of the caves and monasteries from a different angle. You enter three monasteries and see another three from the outside - which ones depends on which are open (they alternative their days off). You get a briefing about each monastery as you approach and then you're left to explore it alone, and encouraged to ask any other questions you have when you get back on the bus. Lunch was convenient and decent if a little rushed (10 mins to eat) but everything was on time and we maximised our time seeing the monasteries. Consider bringing snacks and drinks as the rest stops can get extremely busy if multiple tours show up at the same time.

A must do!

It's a long day, 4 hours each way from Athens. But totally worth it! Meteora is amazing, and our guide Anastasia (Stacie) was super welcoming and approachable with any questions. We got almost an hour at each monastery and Stacie was so organised and informative. Highly recommend.

Definitely an experience well worth doing

Firstly let’s talk about the initial bus ride to get to Meteora - 2 hours then a rest stop then another 2 hours - and to do it again to return back to Athens so 8 hours on a bus, and of course add another 5 hours driving around the Monasteries… I won’t lie it is a long long day on the bus and you are very tired so be prepared…. But was it worth it - Definitely!, definitely!!, Meteora will absolutely blow you away with the amazing scenery, history and spectacular views.. . And IF you are lucky enough to have Nancy to show you around You are in for a real special day.. OMG our guide Nancy was amazing, so knowledgeable, passionate and took the time to showcase this amazing area beyond our expectations. Nancy really made our experience she showed us everything and explained it all… we had a fantastic day and A Big thank you to Nancy …. Definitely do this tour with this company it was ran really well and a great experience had by all

Amazing honeymoon tour to Meteora

We had such an amazing time. Visited three monisterys and they were so beautiful. Stopped by all the panoramic views of the rocks and took photos. Our guide (English) was a Canadian one, and he was so talented and had such good information about everything. Lovely listening to him and his enthusiasm for the site. We had lunch included and got a really good Greek meal after the drive from Athen, and before driving up to the rocks. Over all a really great tour and amazing experience. We highly recommend this tour.
