Stunning sights, beautiful experience

The sunset tour was beautiful, but the walking with Christos was the best part. Everything was well organized and everybody was really friendly and helpful.

Sunset tour is amazing, second day pretty repetitive.

Very well organized with clear instructions for departure and pick up. Sunset tour was amazing and worth the overnight stay.We had our room at the Kaikis hotel and it was great too. They allowed us to leave our luggage after checking out on the second morning. We chose the hike in the morning but it got cancelled due to heat, and we ended up on another bus tour that was very repetitive. Guides were friendly and knowledgable and recommended us some great restaurants. A bit too long of free time before pickup back to Athens on the second day. Overall the sunset trip made the trip worth it, I just wish it was less repetitive the second day.

The trip itinerary is very good with the first day doing sunset tours and the 2nd day doing monasteries visits. Drivers on both days are very polite and friendly. However I am very disappointed with the first day sunset tour guide (Nicholas?). He has very limited information about the history, background etc of Mateora and the monasteries to share with us. Some of us had to eavesdrop the next team guide’s explanation.

Well worth the time.

Really enjoyed the trip. Our guide, Stacey, on the first day was really fun and engaging. All the guides had great English, and knew tons about the area. The monasteries are very pretty and the sceneries are truly breathtaking. We showed up during a heat wave so it was very hot but the bus had good AC and only a few monasteries included a lot of walking.

Visit Meteora but not this tour

Meteora is a gorgeous place and definitely worth visiting. However I don't recommend this tour. The tour was poorly organized. We were asked to pick one of two options and given little information for us to make the choice and decision had to be made on the spot. Also the second day the tour ended at 2pm and guests were left "stranded" in town for 4 hrs with no where to go before the bus picked us up at 6 for return to Athens. We arrived in Athens at 11 pm but the trip didn't have to be that long. Also one of the tour guides was outright rude. The first day we were dropped in front of the hotel with no orientation about the town. I asked the guide where we could get lunch. He answered in a loud and gruff voice "I don't know. Go look yourself." That didn't sound like a welcoming attitude to tourists.

Highly recommend!

Great trip to Meteora! Really well organized! Comfortable 3* Hotel with a good breakfast. The guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and always did their best to be very punctual. The sunset tour was fantastic and the hike the next morning was absolutely spectacular!! definitely recommend!

Good tour.

The trip would have been fantastic if not for raining and fogging both days. Some tour guides are good and some do almost nothing.

Meteora Thrones… Excellent!!!

Picked up on time from Larissa station. The coach was clean and comfortable. Lovely rest stop about 2 hours in.About a 4.5hr trip to Kalambaka where the hotel was. 3* hotel Alexiou was very nice. Clean and comfortable room with nice breakfast. First trip on day one very good with informative and friendly guides. Small coach with about 10 other people. Bit bigger group the next day and again lovely guides. Nothing was too much trouble. Not rushed, lots of time to see the monasteries. Highly recommend this tour company. Kalambaka is a nice little town. Lots of nice restaurants. It’s a bit of a long wait after the second day tour ends but we just sat in a restaurant and bar.

It is an amazing place, a must to visit.

It is an amazing place, a must to visit. I believe that one day trip from Athens is an overload, two days are a minimum to enjoy the beauty of Meteora. Everyone on Meteora Thrones team was good and especially Nancy, she is an excellent guide. Boarding of the buses in Athens could be better organized and description of the travel to Meteora should mention stop in the middle, it would give a peace of mind about food and other needs. Travel stop is a nice, clean place with everything one needs.

2 days Meteora from Athens

We’re a group of 6 attending 2 days Meteora tour. It’s beautiful stunning places to see and the tour organizer is almost perfect if if the tour return time to Athens is doing earlier say around 3 ~ 4pm. The tour ended at 1pm but we have to wait until 6:30pm to go back is wait too long! We getting bore too spend to too much time in the smal town Kalampaka. The 4 stars hotel is also not what it should be. The tour should also provide rest room break during the tour as it’s pretty long hours

Amazing and Gorgeous Meteora

The monasteries of Meteora are gorgeous witnesses to the ingenuity and faith of the monks and nuns who settled there. The rock formations are majestic and awe inspiring. The frescoes of the biblical stories, the history of Christianity, and Greek Orthodox traditions are stunning. We visited 4 of the six remaining monasteries and walked to to the caves where the monks lived before the monasteries were built. Chris and Nikolas were knowledgeable and engaging. It would have been helpful to have the entire travel details including the return time to Athens. It was a surprise to learn that although the second tour ended at 1:30 pm our departure wasn't until 6:00 pm. We arrived in Athens at 10:30 pm when we expected to get back around 6:00.

Bad organization.

Meteora was beautiful, but the beginning of my trip was terrible. There were problems finding my name in the lists. At least it was done. When we arrived in Meteora there was no local guide for persons who have a two-day trip. When a bus and the guide arrived we were taken to the hotel. I was directed to a hotel, but my name was not on the list. The administrator was sent to another hotel on the opposite side of the street. I was not registered there either. It was raining and I could stay on the street between two hotels. In the end, I asked to call the organizers and clarify something. It turned out that I must be in the first hotel where I was not announced. After about an hour, someone called me and asked if I had registered at the hotel.

2 days was enough time

Easy return Coach ride. Our Hotel Axious was in great position, close for walking town n find restaurants. Monasteries Sunset and Morning tours very good. Only negative we felt was the time on 2nd day waiting around after tour until 5.30pm pickup. Too lo g.

Beautiful destination; tour service tolerable for the views

Breath-taking destination; excellent driving and hotel, but tour service was just ok… The first day of the tour was amazing! We visited one monastery and the Byzantine church. However, the second day of the tour was truly only three hours and the tour guide repeated a lot of information from the previous day (because we had different tour guides on each day). It was very chaotic figuring out the bus transportation on the way back to Athens and the second day was a lot of hours just waiting around (from noon to 5:40pm). Additionally, we got very unlucky with a metro strike happening on May 1st that apparently is a thing every year so I’m not sure why the tour operator didn’t better prepare us for the difficulty that would lay ahead trying to get to our hotels in Athens at 10pm at night with no metros running. For the price, including hotel (I did the 3 star hotel and it was great) and bus to the monasteries, I would recommend it if you have no better way of getting to Meteora. Otherwise, you might be better off if you can find your own way there to avoid the large amounts of times spent just waiting around and the repetitive tour guide information.

Great scenic tour but poor logistics.

Seeing the Meteora area rock formations and monasteries was fantastic. Amazing views and history. However, the logistics of the trip were awful. This was sold and is still advertised as a train trip. The train tracks were destroyed six months ago by flooding. This is now a 5 hour bus trip instead of a 4 hour train trip. This was known six months ago; we were sent an email two days before the trip to inform about the change. False advertising since it is still sold as a train trip. Our hotel Famissi Eden was on the outskirts of town. Claims to be 4*, 2* at best. Worn furnishings in the lobby, hard beds. We returned from tour at 8:30pm, buffet was finished, very little food left, they refused to fix individual meals. The bus logistics were bad, changing from coach to small buses on edge of town, no room for luggage in small bus. Guides did poor job of information on daily logistics, you had to ask them to get information. Viator getting bad name using the Meteora Thrones company. Quit using them unless they greatly improve the service.

A place like no other

Spectacular to see and worth the loooong bus rides but tiring. Trains were out so groups were combined on the bus rides and returned late. We needed more information in advance . Our first day guide hand good diction and overcame the small bus’s poor amp system Still, we would choose it again if this were the only way.

Amazing and spectacular!

The staff was super friendly and I learned so much on this tour. It was comprehensive and fun. I enjoyed learning and asking questions with our hiking tour guide. I enjoyed the local town as well. And the majestic views with the monasteries built up on the rocks. I loved learning about the geology of how the area was formed too.

Meteora 2 day tour

The trip was great ! The views in Meteora are amazing ! Definitely worth the 2 days . Our guide CLEMENT for the Sunset tour was amazing . Very knowledgeable, friendly , passionate and really loves what he does . Kudos !

Wonderful tour experience

Our guides for the first day and on 2nd day (for the hike) are both good. It was a wonderful tour with lots of magnificent views. The hike on 2nd day was really good to see the monasteries from different angles. Our room was good as we were given one that faces the Meteora. Definitely making the long journey (5 hrs to and 5 hrs back) worth it

Professional and reliable tour group

Booking the tour was very easy and staff were very responsive via email. They also accommodated our request to have one member of our family do the Panoramic tour while the others did the hiking tour. They remembered that request during the actual tour which was a big plus. Bus pickup and drop off were generally on time. We had a pit stop to break up the five-hour ride to and from Athens to Meteora. The tour itself was comfortable with a lot of nice views. The guide will only go with you inside the Byzantine church, but not inside the monasteries. The stories about the monasteries were therefore only during the bus ride and if you ask additional questions. As we had three different guides during the two-day tour, we heard roughly the same kind of information three times as well: it would be great if the guides would inject some more interesting trivia about the place or maybe personal experiences so we could know better what life is like living in such a beautiful place or in Greece in general!

Meteora Thrones 2 day tour. Efficient and effortless.

Everything was seamlessly and efficiently put together. Ran like experienced clockwork. Much easier than trying to DIY. Bus was comfortable albeit a very long journey. 2 days gave a lot of extra time in the afternoons to explore the town on our own and suggestions were not proactively given until after the second morning tour. We were able to book ourselves an extra horse riding tour to use up some time on the second afternoon. 3 star hotel Alexious was simple but has a nice balcony with partial view of the rocks and right in the town, so a very short walk to souvenir shops and restaurants. It has everything you need in a hotel room, just a bit dated looking with a safe that still uses a key! But hey, at least it has a safe! They also allowed us to store our luggage and use their restroom after checking out in the morning. We opted for the hike on the second day. We were the only 2 who chose it so we basically had a private tour with young Christos who is an excellent guide, speaks great English and was very considerate to keep a nice pace and took lots of photos of us. I think this is a much better option than sitting on the bus going through much of the sane scenery again. We saw different scenery and perspectives and more things up close. We are a less than fit couple on the wrong end of 50 with knee and joint problems and we found the home much easier than expected. Thanks to Christos always offering help and our trusty hiking poles and boots as well as monks who really know how to build paths ( according to Christos) s well as the perfect cool weather.

Beautiful trip

The views and monastries were incredible. Definitely recommend doing the hike on day 2. Not strenuous and allows for a change from sitting on the bus. Our guides and drivers were wonderful. Maria and Christos on day 1 and Christos on the hike. Very knowledgeable and kept things interesting. Hotel was great, good breakfast. The drive is long but manageable. Would recommend the two day tour. Try plan day 2 as there is a long wait from the end of the hike until the bus leaves.

Good value for money

We enjoyed very much our tour. The bus from Athens was good and so the minibuses in KaIampaka. The drivers were nice people and the guides did a very good job. The sunset tour was very good and the hiking tour with the guide Xristoz was amazing. The hotel and breakfast OK. The return to Athens could have been before 18.00

Great Trip yo Meteora

The landscape was incredible and surreal. We knew immediately that we were in a special place. Maybe it was knowing that the ancient monasteries surrounded us, perched stop high mountain spires as if placed there by a higher power, but the whole area had an other-worldly quality about it. Our guides, Maria and Clement, provided a lot of information that helped bring the experience alive. Be aware, though, that if you want to visit the monasteries, you will need to climb and descend a whole lot of stone steps, and they can be slippery if it is raining. To me, the effort was worth it. I highly recommend this tour. Also, the hotel where we spent the night was very comfortable with a good breakfast. The town, Kalabaka, is easy to walk and shop, and the restaurants are surprisingly very good. The 4 and a half hour bus ride from and back to Athens can be a grind, so bring something to read.

An unforgettable experience!

This was such a great experience. I'm usually someone who prefers to DIY my own tours. My previous experiences with guided tours were unimpressive - the guides did not add much that you can't get from online audio guides etc. I booked this tour mostly for the logistics of getting to Meteora. And I'm so happy I did! Everything was very organised and well-planned. We were taken by a large bus from Athens. On arrival at Kalambaka, there were mini buses waiting to split us into smaller groups. We checked into our hotels - I got Hotel Alexiou, very friendly and clean - had a lunch break, and then went on the sunset tour. I had Stacey as guide for the sunset tour, and the next day Christos for the hiking tour. Both guides were friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the tour. The guides truly made the experience very enjoyable and memorable, and I feel a DIY tour would have been a diminished experience in this case. The minibuses were comfortable, the drivers were very good, and the pace of the tours perfect. The only two feedback I would give is: 1) Have families with young children in a separate group - we had a young child in my group, and the constant squeling and wailing was very distracting and did spoil the experience a bit for the rest of us. 2) Leave earlier on day 2 after the tour back to Athens. I was pretty tired after the hike, there's not a lot to do in Kalambaka aside from nice restaurants (but we don't need 5 hours for lunch), and not arriving back at Athens so late at night would be nice. We have also checked out from hotel, so don't have a room to rest in while waiting for the bus for so many hours. Overall, a superb experience. I have told all my friends they need to book with Meteora Thrones if they come, as I've rarely had such a good experience with a tour company! Thank you Meteora Thrones for a fantastic experience!

Meteora/Kalambaka

Mystical, beautiful,amazing,strange, Meteora -words can’t really describe the exspirience! The most amazing experience!

That was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had! Everything was perfect and everyone at the tour company were lovely, especially my tour guide Nick. Would definitely recommend to do this if you have time, you won't regret it!

Great sights but overall planning of the tour can be improved

The tour guides were great. Both Christos and Stacey were very knowledgeable and friendly. I went during low season so our group only had 5 tourists total, which felt more like a private tour. The tour guides helped us take multiple pictures and answered all of our questions. Christos was also very handsome :) Now, here's the negative part of the review. The accommodation was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life. We stayed at the Alexiou Hotel in Kalabaka. On their google reviews, it looks like they have more recently renovated room, but I was given a room that was really old and disgusting. There were no elevators leading to my room on the second floor. When I first walked in, I smelled cigarette smoke and urine that smelled like a public toilet. I had to ask front desk to clean it again as I saw water on the bathroom floor pooling around the dirty toilet scrub. The curtain rod also fell off when I was trying to shower. The shower curtain weren't even sized correctly to keep water within the shower area, hence water got everywhere in the bathroom and floor were completely flooded. The bed was also very old, where you can feel all the springs. This place definitely felt like a cheap motel vs hotel. The timing of the tour didn't make any sense. On the second day, the tour was only from 9-12pm. We were dropped back off at our hotel where we were left to roam around until the bus came to pick us up at 6pm. Ultimately, after reading the itinerary description, it seemed like the one day tour got to see as many sites as the two day tour crew. Ultimately, I would recommend just doing the one day tour that way you can skip the disgusting hotel and you won't have to waste 6 hours just waiting for the bus back to Athens.

An unforgettable experience.

The pickup instructions were accurate, the bus arrived on time, and the logistics worked well with minimum waiting. The train would probably have been more comfortable, but the bus was adequate. It is a long ride from Athens, 4 1/2 hours with a break half way. Anastasia (Stacy) was our highly qualified guide who knows her subject extremely well. For example, as we toured the church at the base of the Holy Trinity monastery (I think it was called Meteoron Theasis), she skillfully interpreted each section of the large composite painting inside the entrance. She made the experience come alive for us. Although we do not agree with the theology presented, Stacy accurately explained the beliefs of the artists and builders. She patiently answered all our questions and even assisted with photos. Meteora is one of the most popular destinations in Greece (in first or second place, depending who you ask), and with good reason. It is a magnificent masterpiece of human daring and persistence in a world-class dramatic setting and is not to be missed. Thank you Stacy! We will never forget you! ❤️

Wide eyed awe tour!

The scenery and hiking among these monoliths was incredible. Of course the history and the amazing feat of building these cliff top monasteries centuries ago is hard to comprehend. Fantastic tour with knowledgeable friendly guides.

Not to be missed!

We had a perfect trip on 20 and 21 November. Christos and Chris were wonderful, Demetrios was great too. The area is an extraordinary concentration of geological, landscape, historical, artistic, cultural, and spiritual interest and excellence. Not to be missed!

Tour at Meteora is fantastic, bus trip to/from Athens is not

This is well worth doing. Although the evening and morning mini tours repeat some of the monasteries the different lighting provides a new perspective (plus it would be exhausting to travel to/from Athens and undertake a single tour in one day). The minibuses are modern and comfortable. We had a young female guide on the first day who was conscientious and sought to explain things well and an excellent driver who doubled as a photographer. On the second day the male guides explained very little which was disappointing. The only real negative however was the long bus trip back to Athens. Our small mini-bus group was picked up last from our hotel and faced no considered organization when we arrived at the main bus. Husbands and wives were split between vehicles, the only seat available for us as an elderly couple was the bench seat at the back of the bus, the driver did not provide any welcome or directions and the air conditioning broke down for a period. Frustrating end to a fantastic tour.

Excellent Tour Guide; fluent in English and gave a very good narrative of each monastry and history.

At the top of the sites visited by me in the world

Many places in the world offer natural beauty (and these are my favorite ones), others are attractive for their historical aspect, and there is also the artistic side. Meteora, an incredible and unforgettable place, brings together all these qualities and is therefore an excursion to be recommended. I fully agree with you when, in the description of the tours (sunset and morning), you state: once-in-a-lifetime. Can't miss if you go to Greece!! A heartfelt thanks to your competent guides, in particular the "sparkling" Maria. I strongly suggest the two-day tour (from Athens), because a one-day tour would risk being too hectic and not enough to appreciate the enchantment of the places.

Thumbs down: 2 days Meteora day tour with Viator

This is the worst day tour i have taken. It was supposed to be First class train with 4 star hotel for 2 day meteora tour. Due to flood, the train is not operating to Kalabaka. So the tour agency arrange a bus service to the destination. First it was a full bus load and imagine we are carrying all the overnight bags on our laps throughout the 4.5 hours journey. Also the bus is smelly and stuffy as we are sitting behind. When we request driver to on the air con he commented the front passenger said they are cold. They are not considering those sitting behind are suffering the smelly bus and stuffiness. Also, the journey is too long when they only break after 2.5 hours. It's a test on our bladder system. We don't even dare to eat or drink during the break or bus journey just in case we need to go toilets and driver will not be stopping any where. Also, until we complete the tour, the agency did not say anything about the refund of the difference between First class train tickets and the bus fare. i will not be surprised they will claim there is no differene. It was the most horrible tour thoughout my greece tour and i will never trust Viator or book with them anymore.

A must if you have some time while you are in Greece

Train is out of service

Great Scenery, the rock formations and monasteries were wonderful. It was odd that we finished at 13:00, but the bus to take us back to Athens was not until 17:45. That was too much free time to wonder around the downtown since you are already checked out of hotel room. The train was down so we had to use bus. The bus ride was 5 hours each way…and not really a nice bus.

Fun 2-day experience from Athens

We did the 2-day trip from Athens in September 2023. Due to the floods in early September and train closures, we needed to take a coach bus that was arranged by Meteora Thrones from the train station in Athens. This was a reasonable substitution and the bus stopped about halfway for food and a bathroom break (unlike US, there is no bathroom on the bus). The 2-day trip was definitely the move because we were able to move at a more relaxed pace since the travel time each way with a stop is about 5 hours. The highlight for us was our day 2 walking tour with Chris/Kris. He was VERY knowledgeable about the area, took us at a good pace, and gladly offered to take photos of us at the highlights. A minor drawback to the tour that I would suggest the company improve: Our day 2 tour ended around 13:00 with out bus leaving back to Athens at 17:45. However, we had to check out of our hotel in the morning. This added waiting time made day 2 very tiring.

Magical place at Greece.

The place is so magical and different. Very beautiful and special. It’s a must if you go to Greece.

Great visit to Meteora.

Great tour, great visit we enjoyed every moment. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. They answered all our questions, very attentive to details. we highly recommanded.

Skip the train but do the overnight tour.

Train tickets were sold as first class. But this train car is hardly first class. seats were dingy/dirty, no USB no Wi-Fi. Trash in compartments and restroom not serviced. There is only one run a day, so you would think they would take better service of their train cars. Imagine my delight with how wonderful the actual tour was. Are driver Cristo and guide Maria Work exceptional Cristo was extremely careful on the narrow winding roads. While Maria was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the monasteries. We think they are the best Duo we have experienced in several years of travel.

Best way to visit Meteora!

Without a doubt, Meteora Thrones was the best team to handle my recent visit to Kalabaka, Kastraki, and all of their monasteries. Right from the start they were prompt and clear in email communications, answering any questions I had. They arranged trains, hotel and tours with no fuss, made me feel welcome at every step of the way. Maria led the sunset tour with enthusiasm and incredible knowledge, and Christos was a joy to spend time with on the hiking tour the next morning. I can’t recommend this team highly enough for their professionalism and approachability. Thanks for a great introduction to Greece!

Great tour but check that the link for the train ticket is correct before you get to the station.

The whole meteora experience was fantastic. Both guides were very informative. The only problem we had was trying to leave Athens as the link for our tickets was incorrect and did not come through. We nearly missed the train

Sunset tour and Christof made whole experience SPECTACULAR

Wow..sunset tour with friendly and knowledgeable CHRISTOF was awesome. Very obliging and personable. My great photos don't do it justice..it is incredible and I would recommend to all. Other guide for morning tour THOMAS was not so personable and I was not impressed to hear him telling several guests that the sunset tour is not worth doing! I had raved about mine with Christoff to other guests and shown them photos and they were planning to book. When they heard Thomas they decided not to go...I would have thought as he worked for Meteora Thrones he should have been encouraging them. The 3 monasteries we saw on morning tour were great though.

Amazing scenery, great guide (Clement) and a great package!

This really was an extraordinary experience! Everything ran smoothly. The views were amazing. Clement was a major difference maker. I’m sure all the guides know the historical information but Clements personal passion for the site I’m convinced is unparalleled among fellow guides. I did the sunset tour with him and then a hiking tour the next day. Clement is also really flexible (we were only two fast hikers so we were able to squeeze in visiting another monastery and be picked up at a different spot- now hopefully Clement you know who is writing this!!). Pro tip: some websites say men can’t wear shorts but that is not true, they just have to cover your knees. Hiking in khakis in 90f heat was pretty hard! Also be aware you’re paying for convenience a bit here: if you want to book the two tours, two train tickets and a cheap hotel yourself you can probably safe yourself a few Euros but not too much Also omg there are single day tours from Athens to see Meteora. Please never do that! 9 hours on the train was a struggle enough as it is spread over two days!

2 days trip to meteora

We were in luck with the weather which resulted in nice visits and pictures of the monasteries. In the town itself there was less to do, so spend some time waiting after the morning visit until the train departed

Great experience, totally worth it!

Great tour overall. I especially enjoyed getting a closeup look of the hermit caves and the beautiful monasteries built into the side of the rocks courtesy of Stacy and Spyros (apologies in advance for any errors in spelling!). I thought both of our guides on the first and second day were excellent, polite, and very enthusiastic and full of knowledge. Some notes because other reviews noted this as well: a. Yes, you do get some of the same information at the sunset tour and the morning tour, but we did not go into the same monasteries. We did see a viewpoint of Agio Stefano that we'd seen the day before, but it was a different viewpoint since we saw it in the afternoon and I felt it was worth it. b. Not all B class train seats have outlets so prepare accordingly. c. You definitely need proper shoes, but I think this is especially applicable to the second day (I did the panorama tour) when there is much more walking. d. We saw three monasteries the first day and on the second three as well. e. I think you need to be in decent physical condition for this as there is a lot of stair climbing on the second day. f. You can get tie around skirts from every monastery except for the Grand Meteora Monastery where you'll have to purchase a scarf to tie around yourself if you don't already have one. g. Hotel was fine, no complaints, it's just a bit old, but is kept very clean and the lobby has lots of chairs for you to lounge in when you're waiting for your train to depart the second day. I believe the company and the hotel (Hotel Famissi) do have a special arrangement for you to checkout late because of the late train departure (17:35). h. This is absolutely worth staying the second day. 4 hours wouldn't have been enough and would've been too rushed though I understand not everyone has the full two days to spare.

Beautiful Meteora!!

A must see while in Greece. Took sunset tour w/Stacy—a wonderful guide full of information. Then took morning tour with Tomas who seemed disinterested and gave a lot of the same information as Stacy. Many stops to see monastery’s. Very nice hotel was included in your price.

Not Good

We signed up for the two day sunset/monastery tour, with upgraded 4-star hotel option. After enduring the 4 1/2 hour train ride from Athens, we were deposited at the Famissi Eden Hotel, which is only a 4-star hotel by Meteora standards. The Famissi Eden is on the outskirts of Kalabaka. They have a skeleton staff, few customers, and absolutely no food options in the vicinity. We were the ONLY members from the tour placed at this hotel. After the train from Athens, we were very hungry, and the hotel does not offer lunch and dinner service. I contacted Maria from Meteora Thrones to explain the situation. Her solution was for us to walk a few kilometers into town. Unfortunately walking a few kilometers under the baking sun really wasn’t an option for us due my wife’s ongoing health issues. Also, the hotel is on a hill, making the trek back to the hotel undoable. The hotel provided us the menu of a restaurant that delivers, and it only took 2-hours to deliver because they tried delivering to a hotel with a similar name that was actually in town. The tour guide sensed how unhappy we were, and tried to remedy the situation. For our trouble, she connected us with someone else at Meteora Thrones that provided us 10 euros for a taxi, the wrong number to call the taxi, and restaurant recommendations. Good luck finding a taxi in Kalabaka at 11pm. My sense is that the staff in the Meteora Thrones office are young and inexperienced dealing with customer service issues. Because day 1 was so long and exhausting, and we were underwhelmed with the tour, we opted out of day 2. If I had known that I would have to forage for food upon my arrival to Kalabaka, I would have not signed up for the tour. I reached out to Meteora Thrones and requested a refund for half the cost we paid for the tour, recognizing that they provided a service, but have very unhappy customers. The excursion failed to meet our expectations. Meteora Thrones can respond to this review to explain if and how they intend to accommodate our refund request.

Great tour

Great tour. Did the morning hike with Christos. Exceptional guide, very informative and interesting. Would recommend this tour.
