Fun activity!

A Fun Creative Workshop

I really enjoyed this workshop. As someone who loves arts and crafts, it was a nice break from the hustle of vacation to sit for a couple hours and make the mosaic. The instructors were helpful throughout the entire process and offered great advice and guidance. I do recommend not doing anything directly after the workshop, so you have time to go back to your accommodation to drop your mosaic because it needs to stay flat for at least 24 hours afterwards.

A unique experience in Athens

This was such a fun activity to do, and a little different than the usual museums and sites in Athens. Marina was absolutely wonderful, explaining the history, guiding me through the process, and was so interesting to talk to while working on the mosaic. This was such a fun activity, and I have a beautiful souvenir from it to remember my time. Definitely sign up for this, and try to do it earlier in your trip so your mosaic has time to dry.

A fun family experience

My two boys and I did the mosaic making class and really enjoyed our time. I enjoyed how the instructors took time to first teach us a little about the history of the art to help put it into context for us - then we each picked out our own design to make based on dozens of choices. We will pick up our final product tomorrow and my boys are looking forward to bringing theirs to school to show their teachers.

Highly Recommend

What and amazing apartment, comfy beds, amazing kitchen with more equipment than you could imagine, and a great table. Located within walking distance to many sights and a supermarket which is next to the best Italian Restaurant, also near the bus stop which is handy to access places further away. Very helpful manager who was always available for us.

Make your own mosaic in Athens 11/10 would recommend.

We just did the 3 hour mosaic class in Athens with 13 Mosaic. The class was amazing and lots of fun. The artist was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We learned about mosaic history in Greece, and the different ways to make mosaic. Then we picked out a mosaic sample from 30+ options ranging from easy to hard. It took about 2 hours to make the actual mosaic from the example print and we loved every minute. The studio is directly above a pedestrian shopping street with tons of coffee, snacks, and shopping. I think this type of class is perfect for experiencing Greece and it's art.

Fun with mosaics!

My daughter and I loved our workshop. It was just the two of us and the teacher who was fantastic. We learned so much and had such fun. We are hoping to do more of this when we return to the US.

Brilliant day and experience

Amazing experience and the best souvenir to take hope with you from the beautiful Athens! We enjoyed the information given to us about how mosaics came about and through the ages. Also we got to have a go at cutting the mosaics in the traditional way. Throughout we were looked after and had drinks of tea & Coffee. It was a great experience and we are so thankful that we decided to do something new whilst we were away! Thankyou for a great day!

Amazing experience

This was amazing. Me and my partner (jodie) went on 12th september at 4pm. A nice warm welcome with great experience. Learnt about mosaics, the hostory to modern day, learnt how to cut tiles, and was helped with making our own. We had tea coffee and a great time, our host was welcoming and a fountain of knoledge! Really worth the money and we got photos sent to us, thank you!

Wonderful Mosaic Workshop

I attended the studio class with my 11- and 8-year-old daughters, and we all really enjoyed our time. First, the studio is in a very nice, safe part of Athens. Marina was our wonderful teacher. She provided fascinating information on the history of mosaics, the types of natural and manmade stones, how to cut the stones, and, of course, helped us complete our mosaic artwork. She guided us on technique, color/material choices (even though my kids decided to use some very bright colors anyway), and how to preserve the completed work. The mosaics will make fun, personalized souvenirs for my girls to remember our trip to Athens. Oh, and my girls saw one of the example mosaic patterns outside of a 13th century church in the nearby Mitropoleos Square, so they really paid attention to the visuals Marina shared!

I absolutely loved this workshop! Not only do they give you a history of mosaic art, they allow you to get hands on experience with each part of the process. They also took pictures during the time and sent them so I wouldn’t have to worry about taking pictures. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling.

Fun and worthwhile experience!

Loved this class. The teachers were knowledgeable kind and patient. We learned a lot about the history of mosaics and we’re able to create our own, step by step. Lovely Freddo break provided !! Great experience and a great personal souvenir to bring home from vacation

Artistè for a day

Location was very easy to get to. Central Athens, not far removed from the Central Square. When I got there, I was offered drinks and refreshments before we started. Luckily, I was the only one there, so got private treatment!! We started off by learning some theory about ancient & contemporary mosaics as well as how to make best use of the materials and also what they were and where they came from. After this, I donned an apron and began tracing my design and then laying it on the glue board. Then, once ready, I carefully layer down my marble & granite pieces to look like the design I had chosen. Then it was cleaned off with water, flattened down so it was level and then packaged off to dry. It does take about 2 hours to dry in the sun light so don't do the class last minute before a flight! Allow some time for the piece to dry in your hotel first! It was a great 3 hours, and the ladies were friendly and helpful. They made me feel welcome and helped me become a budding artist. And even recommended different ways to spend the afternoon.

Relaxing and beyond expectations!

I like that even though the class was small, the instructor kept up the energy and enthusiasm I would usually see from an art instructor. Marina knows just when to let us work out a difficult part and just when to come in with her expertise.

Art lovers and crafty folks should not miss this!

This was so much fun! It reminded me of a challenge on the Amazing Race (without the rushed stress) Marina was gracious and friendly. After a brief and fascinating review of the history of mosaic art, we got to work choosing a design and working on our pieces. Marina is a talented artist and freely gave advice while still respecting our personal visions. We were very pleased with our unique souvenirs! I'll have this keepsake to look at long after my photos get buried deep in my phone's memory. Bonus, studio is in the heart of the Ermou shopping district!

Great class, highly recommend!

We absolutely loved this class. It was very educational, and they provided a lot of good, productive feedback about making the mosaic while also allowing you to be creative. I also really liked that there was a good size assortment of premade patterns to use, as opposed to having to come up with one on your own. One note, I would suggest doing this early in your trip, where you still have a few days before travel to allow time for the mosaic to dry and for the studio to apply the finish. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that gave us one of a kind souvenirs.

Unique Greek Experience

I had such a great time making a mosaic. It was a perfect way to learn a bit about Greek history and art, and try my hand at something new. Marina was a lovely teacher and I was able to bring home a handmade souvenir. Highly recommend!

Fun and unique experience you shouldn't miss!

I can't say enough good things about our time at 13Mosaic! Our host, Marina, was extremely nice and made the entire experience fun and relaxing. Marina started with a brief history of mosaic and you could tell that she had a wealth of experience as she was able to answer all of our questions without hesitation. Afterward, we each selected a pattern to attempt on our own. While we were working, Marina provided helpful tips and encouragement. Perhaps we were talking and enjoying ourselves too much, because we took a little longer than expected to complete our pieces. Even so, Marina kept telling us not to rush and let us finish at our own pace. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and recommend it to anyone!

A fun experience ruined by rude hosts

It was nice for 15 minutes. Then, once we started preparing our designs, the “show” began. There were 3 people in the workshop. Once one of them saw how my husband was preparing his design, she told the other two and then, one by one, they came into the room to look at how my husband was doing it (as in, “wrong”), and then go back to the other room to talk about it. We didn’t have to know Greek to understand that they were making fun of him. Then, for the whole 4 hours of the workshop, all three of them were constantly YELLING at each other, because they “had to discuss some business”. Don’t expect a chill experience- they will give you a headache. I had to constantly listen to rude remarks about me, while I was sitting right there in front of them! Such as “she’s not the kind to take breaks”, or “she’s tired”, or “she smiled”. I honestly felt like a nuisance, because they never even interacted with us, except for the very end, where the “main artist” finally asked some questions about us and also said “I don’t mean to brag, but I think I would be middle-class in Switzerland “. What even???!! And now I have an expensive souvenir that will forever remind me of these rude people who ruined my experience with my husband. On top of that, they uploaded pictures of us without asking for permission!!!!

Won't regret it

Wife and I did this together and had more of a private class, this allowed a little more individual attention. We had a lot of fun and got to bring home 2 customs mosaics. It is a very nice studio with very nice staff that is passionate about the work

Fun afternoon making a mosaic!

Maroussa taught us about the history and evolution of mosaic making in Greece and then we got to make one to take home! My family and I loved it. Please note that it does take 24h to dry and finish so best to do before you leave town. I didn’t know that and Maroussa and her team were so gracious and accommodating, and helped coordinate pick up. If you love crafting or making art, this is a terrific cultural experience.

Memorable and Personal Experience with Local Artists.

Amazing Mosaic Making Experience with 13mosaicstudio in Athens Had such an amazing day learning about the magic of mosaics and this 4000 year art form with @13mosaicstudio in Athens. It truly was “Painting in Stone.” Whenever I travel I try to take an art class and learn from local artists. Marina and Laura shared their beautiful studio and passion for Mosaics. It was such an inspiring day. We learned about history of mosaics and got to choose our colors and patterns. Loved visiting the studio, getting inspired by all of the beautiful art pieces by Marina and Laura, and also getting a chance to have a unique and personal conversation with Greek artists. This is such a u unique and memorable experience. It is for all levels and is very calming and meditative. Perfect way to unwind after two weeks of walking, eating and history tours. The coolest part is that my “advanced” pattern was influenced by a church nearby. So fun to share in art with artists around the world. And, I got to take home an artistic souvenir that I made.

Admired Mosaic Moment

As experienced mosaic experts, our teachers taught the history and process. We saw photos of their own mosaics (shop signs in town, etc.) Most of all, they were fun to talk to. I enjoyed their open willingness to get to know us, and explain their home town. Clean, pretty studio with lots of examples and supplies. It made our weekend in Athens become much more than just tired tourist feet. Mosaics meant much more, too.

Incredible Learning Experience!

We had a wonderful time learning about and creating a mosaic. There are several patterns for you to choose from based on level of difficulty and Marina was very attentive the whole time making suggestions, answering questions, and helping whenever we needed. It definitely gave me a deeper respect for the art of mosaic making. It was such a fun thing to do in Athens and I would recommend to all adults who travel there. I have young children and I don't think they would have been able to focus for the whole time needed.

Best experience ever!

This coarse was absolutely amazing, I took my 12 year old daughter and she loved it. We had hardly any experience with mosaics, but with all the help and nice instructors we quickly learned and left with a masterpiece in our hands. Highly recommend this coarse!

Excellent Experience! Love it!

I absolutely enjoyed the experience of creating my own mosaic. Laura, Marina and Marousso were very nice. After a brief history explanation about Mosaics, patiently teach how to do a mosaic, step by step. It helps you to understand, appreciate and value a very delicate form of art.

An amazing experience !!!

13 Mosaic Studio was a really authentic experience ! Marina & Laura are so kind and friendly. Our two teenagers loved them both !!! They are also very experienced and have passion for creating inspirational mosaics and passionately teach special techniques. This studio is in the historical center of Athens, which made it very easy for us to reach it. It's is highly recommended, especially in hot days... It was a great experience...3 hours relaxing, creating, laughing and finally feel satisfied ! Thank you girls. We will be back, soon.

Great experience!

Laura and Marina are 2 super nice and lovely ladies who helped us bringing and experience some kind of different souvenir from Athens. We did a mosaic from an ancient pattern with old techniques. It was an excellent moment to discover Athens off the beaten tracks !

Don't try this at home but in 13 Mosaic studio

I was in Athens with a friend from France, and a friend of mine recommended to visit 13 Mosaic studio and try to make our own mosaic. We said yes, why not, it's something you don't do every day. Well, I did not expect to be that good but it was :D Laura and Marina were super friendly and hospitable. They gave us a small tour in the studio explaining a few things about what was about to happen while showing us their fantastic work. Right after the tour, the fun part began I won't spoil but trust me it's super nice making your own mosaic, super relaxing and stress-free! Even if you don't like what you have done Marina and Laura will be there, suggest you things to fix it and make it better..:D We will definitely get back soon

Sehr schönes & kreatives Erlebnis

Es war ein wundervoller Programmpunkt in unserem Urlaub! Wir wurden sehr freundlich von der Lehrerin Marina begrüßt und fühlten uns direkt wohl. Uns wurde viel über die Geschichte und Techniken des Mosaik erklärt. Anschließend haben wir uns Motive ausgesucht und haben begonnen, die Vorlagen vorzubereiten. Danach durften wir versuchen, die Steine zu „klopfen“ und dann ging es auch schon los, das Mosaik zu erstellen. Marina hat uns viel geholfen, indem sie uns Tipps gab und auch Verbesserungsvorschläge hatte. Es war wirklich ein sehr schönes und kreatives Erlebnis und wir haben zwei wunderschöne Bilder, die unser Zuhause nun dekorieren werden. Vielen Dank an Marina <3 (22 + 23 Jahre alt)

Learning and fun 2 in 1

Ποτέ δεν περίμενα ότι ένα μάθημα μπορούσε να είναι τόσο συναρπαστικό! Μετά από την απαραίτητη θεωρητική εισαγωγή, τα κορίτσια του 13 Mosaic Studio μας μύησαν στον κόσμο του ψηφιδωτού. Φτιάξαμε τις δικές μας μαρμάρινες ψηφίδες από την αρχή, ζωγραφίσαμε το σχέδιο που μας άρεσε περισσότερο και αρχίσαμε να συνθέτουμε. Η δασκάλα Laura φανταστική, μαζί με τη Μαρίνα και τη Μαρουσώ ο χρόνος κύλησε πιο ωραία κι από έξοδο για καφέ. Και στο τέλος γύρισα στο σπίτι, με το δικό μου έργο, έτοιμο για τον τοίχο μου! Αυτό κι αν ήταν εμπειρία! Τη συστήνω 100%

Εξαιρετική οικογενειακή εμπειρία

Κατά την παραμονή μας στην Αθήνα, μας προτάθηκε να ζήσουμε μια ξεχωριστή εμπειρία με τα παιδιά μας 15-12. Αφού επισκεφθήκαμε το μουσείο της Ακρόπολης και Κυκλαδίτικης τέχνης τα παιδιά μας και εμείς μπήκαμε εύκολα στο mood να κάνουμε τα δικά μας ψηφιδωτά το εν λόγο εργαστήρι. Η εμπειρία ήταν καλύτερη της αναμενόμενης με τα παιδιά μας να απολαμβάνουν την δημιουργικότητα τους αλλά και εμείς να τεστάρουμε αναπάντεχα ευχάριστα την υπομονή μας στην λεπτομέρεια... Φεύγοντας φυσικά πήραμε τα "έργα μας" και όταν επιστρέψαμε στην βάση μας, τα κρεμάσαμε στο σαλόνι του σπιτιού καθώς το αποτέλεσμα όλων μας, ουσιαστικά αποτελούσε συνδυασμό έργων τέχνης... Thanks Athenian Mosaic....It's a MUST DO...!!!

Wunderbarer Ort um Kreativität auszuleben

Hab ein wundervolles Mosaik hier bei 13 Mosaik Studios gemacht! Laura, Marina und Marüssel waren meine Lehrerinnen, die sehr viel Erfahrung in dem Fachgebiet haben. Man kann nur von Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft sprechen! Werde auch nächstes Mal hier herkommen! Danke war eine tolle Erfahrung
