Great Food Tour

We did this tour on our first night in Athens. Zeffe provided a wonderful tour around the Monastiraki Square area. We made several stops for appetizers, wine, honey, etc. One restaurant we stopped at around sunset had an amazing view of the Acropolis.

Loved Every Moment!

Christina, our guide was wonderful. She was very conscious of the dietary limitations of one of our guests and made sure he had food that he could eat (very happily). It was wonderful seeing how food was prepared and meeting the people behind Greek traditional food. But Christina, with her rich knowledge of the city and it's history was such a dynamic guide. Her enthusiasm and love was contagious! I would rebook tours again and again with her. She was magical and made our experience the same!

Tour was better then expected!

We loved our private food tour with Fotis! We got to try so many different Greek foods and alcohol. Each stop was organized and unique. We were able to sample lots of food and the portions were big and delicious. My young adult kids loved it. Fotis was friendly, informative, and fun! My only advice is go hungry because it’s lots of food!

Fantastic Athens Food Tour

My wife and I recently took a food tour with guide Penelope during our holiday in Athens. She was a great guide who provided a lot of information not only about the food in the city but also some of the history that contributed to it. She gave us flexibility in terms of the types of food to try, which was great. Overall I would recommend this for anyone who wants to check out the central market and food available in that area.

Taste of Athens Food Tour Review

I really enjoyed this food tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Greek cuisine and the city of Athens. He took us to many great markets and local stores to try different foods. My favorite thing to try was the loukoumades (Greek donuts). Highly recommend this tour if you want an intro to the food and city of Athens all-in-one. And come hungry--there is plenty of food to eat on this tour!

Amazing! Must try!

Zeffe was wonderful. We started with an appetizer and ended with dessert and had everything in between. She brought us to unique places that I wouldn’t have stopped in originally. We really did get a “taste”of Athens!

5 Out of 5 - Great afternoon activity

This was such a great walking tour! Catarina was so friendly and knowledgeable, being from Athens she was able to speak to the culture and history with ease. The restaurant owners all seemed to know her and trust her. We had several stops all with something yummy to taste. The lunch was at a traditional pub with a view of the Acropolis and while some people where not calamari fans, me and my husband were! Such fresh and delicious food. I highly recommend this tour for something fun, interactive and a great way to learn more about the culture and history of Athens from the people who live there. The entire tour was about two hours long, and not too much walking. However, if you are disabled in any kind of way, the streets in Athens may not be your friend. I suggest this tour for ages 14 and up.

Great food and great environment

We tried so many different things! The restaurants were local and welcoming. The tour wasn't rushed and the tour guide was friendly and excited to show us her corner of athens!

The tour guide, Penelope, was amazing. She gave good history of Athens, showed us around different parts of Athens. The food she recommended were amazing that we went back the next day to taste a few of her other recommendations and they were just as good! Definitely recommend

Less explanation, more tasting please

Our tour guide was lovely and knowledgeable. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. There was more talking and lengthy explanations and less eating tasting stops. It was 13:30 pm when we met and people were hungry as they had skipped lunch, and it took us a while to get to our first tasting destination. Also I could have lived without the tour of the seafood and meat market - too unclean and gory for a food tasting tour.

Fun in the afternoon.

Katerina was a wonderful host. We (3) had a great time. Nina (4th generation) from the distillery was very gracious to reopen so we could do a spirits tasting

Enjoyable Greek Food Tour

Had a great time on the food tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and interesting. We tried many different Greek food items and enjoyed them all. Highly recommend.

Local specialties & history lessons

It was a great dive into Greek culture, including some of the oldest restaurants, family companies etc. I think the point is more to indeed give a _taste_ of local specialties (from all over Greece) and some history lessons along the way. Our guide, Dimitri(s?) was the most friendly guy, who was admirably proud of his culture with an extensive knowledge of it. The tour included a part with a liquor distillery and a part with some special meats and cheeses, so it might not be as vegan or "sober" friendly, but nothing will be forced down your throat anyway.

A must do tour to see some of Athens.

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He provided insight into Athens history and took us to places that locals visit. The food choices were excellent and serving sizes great. In addition, the staff at the restaurants were very welcoming. We also stopped in a honey store (sorry! can’t remember the name) and it was so interesting and again- fabulous shop owners! Keep that stop on this tour for sure. Highly recommend this tour-

Great tour!

Pascal’s tour was amazing. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, took us for some amazing traditional Greek foods and honey tasting. Everything was delicious, highly recommend.

Best Athens Food Tour!

We had a blast with our group and Pascal. We visited so many great eateries, I was stuffed after the 2nd stop so pace yourself. I promised you won’t leave hungry. Pascal knew so much about the culture and history of Athens, highly recommend this! Worth every penny!!

First night in Athens

Saffi was amazing, but the other people who were on the tour also made it so much fun. We were very full at the end of the tour. Really great start to our stay in Athens.

Delightful and delectable Athens Food Tour

Christina was our guide for our unforgettable EAThens tour on May 7. We have been on many city tours in different parts of the world but what makes a tour most memorable is when a guide is genuinely enthusiastic about wanting to share something special about what she loves about the place where she lives, in this case, a delectable sampling of the foods of Athens. By the way, the amount and variety of food alone on this tour is well worth the fee ! Beginning with the charcuterie sampling of meats, cheeses, olives rusks and wine, Christina explained which meats and cheeses were typical of each region as well as which were her personal favorites. On our trip to a restaurant specializing in sweet and savory pies made with filo dough, she explained that there were different kinds of filo dough for different types of baked pies. The meal at the taverna was a feast of wonderful small plates of delicious home style dishes that made us feel as if we were guests at someone’s Sunday family dinner. And in the extra mile department, Christina gave us a list of her personal favorite places to eat in Athens and responded to texted questions well after the tour. Thank you again Christina for giving us one of our most unforgettable experiences in Athens!

No one goes Hungary!

Anna was amazing, welcoming and extremely welcoming. Appreciated her interest in us just as much as we had interest in her and Athens along with Greek food. Oh, and talking food... AMAZING!!! so much bounty to eat. Just awesome food, gfresh, tasty and well presented. Anna gave fabulous background, insite to Athens/Greek life. Walked away with extremely full bellies with smiles on our face... highly recommended experience when in Athens!!

Definitely a must do in Athens. Explore the central market, taste of many foods and wine included where the locals go. Christina is awesome,kind, patient. knowledgeable and so helpful.

Greek indulgence

Christina is amazing! She has a clear passion for her job and the history of city. Her tour was well thought out and flowed beautifully. The food itself was amazing and I definitely indulged!

Traditional Culinary Delight

This is a must do while visiting Athens. Our guide Penelope was informative & knowledgeable. The food we sampled was of very good quality & traditional. We firstly sampled some local pies then to a lovely Honey shop where we had a tasting of a few, never realised there were so many different types. The central meat & fish market along with the fruit/ veg market was also very interesting with a few tastings of meat, cheese & olives washed down with some lovely local wine & tsipouro. To end our culinary tasting we finished off with some Loukoumades a light donut style sweet treat ☺️

Worth it!

So much delicious food! Greek savory pitas, then cheese and charcuterie, then lunch, then dessert, with tours and tastings at markets in between. So fun to learn about Greek food culture.

Best way to learn about Greek foods and culture!

This food tour was a highlight of our trip to Athens! My 18 yr old niece and I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to learn all about Greek foods. Pascal was our tour guide who was EXCELLENT in teaching us the history and sharing his own personal experiences growing up with the foods. We visited places we never would've seen or even entered without this tour! Our group was very small which allowed us to meet a few other girls from other places...always fun to meet new friends enjoying new experiences. We left so full from the tour, eating and drinking as we went place to place! This is a must-do if visiting Athens!

Lovely tour with wonderful guide

Our guide took us to some fantastic, local places and presented us with a lot of information about Greek (food) culture during and in between courses. She was very kind and open and the food was incredibly varied and invariably delicious.

When I lost my track, she went extra mile to look for me. I am impressed by her knowledge on Greek food and culture. I enjoyed the food too.

Mouth watering

We had a great time sharing food stories with our guide who was very knowledgable about the area and its food. She introduced us to some passionate foodies and we got to taste very good food with a surprisingly filling lunch of 5 shared dishes as well as tasting some very good liquors. The stroll through the meat, fish and vegetable markets is always a delightful experience for us. Finishing with the sweet "gold coins" was very appropriate.

So much food

Fantastic tour our guide Penelope was excellent, she was very informative and fun and couldn’t do enough for us. We had our grandson with us and she made sure he got food he would like as well as ourselves. The tour was just 3 of us along with Penelope so felt very personal. So much food the tour finished at 4.30 and we didn’t eat again until breakfast the following day!!

Wonderful! Penelope was great. We tasted delicious authentic Greek food-and a lot of it! Penelope told us about local customs as well as where to find great food. The group was small, allowing us to meet other visitors to this beautiful city.

The Athens Food Tour was one of the best walking food tours that I have been on. Our guide, Pasquale, was informative, funny, and engaging. We had a wide variety of both food and history.
