Fabulous Day in Athens

We did the full day tour in Athens. We visited the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Ancient Agora, the Archaeological Museum, drove past many other sites such as the Academy, National Library, Parliament and others. Really enjoyed the day especially with Thenia who guided us to Mycenae, Nafplio, Epidaurus and Corinth last year. She was our guide for the Agora and Archaeological Museum. Thenia is wonderful! Our Driver Nikos was tremendous. The best ever! WarmPenguin Tours are great.

Amazing 1 Day Private Tour with Guide in Athens and Poseidon's Temple

This fantastic tour was just what we were hoping for with only 1 day to visit all the major sites in Athens. They even managed to fit in Poseidon's Temple with a lovely seaside lunch. Nice tour, but choose the guide and premium option if you’re interested. Anything less when on your own and it’s difficult to navigate the sites due to the massive crowds. Do yourself a favor and get the guide.

Totally Worth the Price & Great Way to See Athens!

Very happy we booked the Platinum option, with a private driver, tour guide and delicious lunch. It was the best way to see Athens in 8 hours and totally worth every euro. Our driver/guide Dem was prompt, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. He answered all of questions and kept us on schedule. We really learned a lot about Athenian and Greek history. Our tour guide for the Acropolis and the Acropolis was EVERYTHING! Valia made our time easy and gave us an in-depth lesson on Athenian history. Usually, I breeze through monuments and museums reading only the first couple of sentences, or taking pictures and say, I’ll read it later. We didn’t have to worry about missing anything (at least that’s how we felt) with her. She was passionate about her job as a guide and excited to share her knowledge. Oh, the lunch….you don’t order because everything is fixed. Make sure you let the company know in advance if you have dietary restrictions. There’s so much food, and I promise, you’ll have an appetite by the time you eat lunch. You’re going to leave with a full stomach. Hands down, highly recommended option, especially if you’re time in Athens is short. Hints: Wear a hat (that won’t blow away cause it’s windy at the top of the Acropolis) and bring plenty of sunscreen. If you have a small blowing fan, that’ll be useful as you’re walking up to the top.

Exceptional tour experience of Athens with family of 7

What a truly exceptional experience! We booked a tour of Athens totaling 8 hours, including pickup by our driver and tour guide Dimitris from the cruise port for our party of 7. The tour Included a personalized tour of the acropolis and the museum arranged by WarmPenguin with an exceptional guide Marina, a drive through Athens with stops at multiple sites of interest, including time for lunch and shopping. Great private tour in Athens

I've used Viator several times now and have never been disappointed. Our driver and guide (Betty) for the Athens tour were both terrific. Both were so knowledgeable and friendly. Doing a private tour is the way to go. It is much more relaxing and enjoyable than traveling around with a group. We visited many sites in the comfort of the Mercedes vehicle, and surely a highlight of the day was a terrific seaside lunch in a restaurant at Sounion. It was as if the restaurant opened just for us! There was noone else there except for the guide and driver. The very leisurely lunch of local specialties was more than we had hoped for, and then after that we managed to get back into Athens in time to see the changing of the guards. It was a most enjoyable (though VERY cold) day. I cannont recommend this tour enough. Thanks for making our Greece experience so meaningful. I would gladly use Viator and Warmpenguin again.

Amazing full day private tour

We enjoyed a full day tour with Mario who was amazing! Originally our tour was scheduled for 10:30 am and I was prompted twice to change the time to 7:30 or 8:30 am to avoid long lines. Twice I responded to Emma with the tour company and I assumed our start time had been changed due to responding in the Viator app. Unfortunately, it had not. After a long day of travel from usa we awakened with no tour guide. Totally not Mario’s fault !! He was awesome! But beware and make sure they confirm.

Great Athens area tour

We loved this tour. It was a great way to get acquainted with Athens. Dem was our guide and he was fantastic. He knew so much about the history of Athens and Greek Mythology. We learned a lot. We had a lovely lunch on the water in Sounian. I would highly recommend this tour.

Best Tour of Athens!!

Thenia our tour guide and our wonderful driver Vasilious are the perfect team who provided us an awesome tour of The Acropolis, Acropolis museum and the highlights of City of Athens, and Plaka. Vasilious picked our group (of 10 people )from the Cruise Terminal ( with all of our 10 luggages and 10 carry ons) in a brand new Mercedes Benz Sprinter van. We also had an amazing lunch at a local restaurant. Our group had a great time in Athens thanks to the Warmpenguin team. Also a shout out to David for accommodating our last minute request for an airport transfer. Thank you David, Vasilious and Thenia you all have made our short time in Athens a wonderful experience

Great experience, def worth it.

Makis X was our guide and we had the best time with him. He took us to all the best places tourist and local. I feel like we got 2 days of sightseeing from 8:30am-4pm! Very productive but not rushed at all. He’s very knowledgeable and gives lots of great information on so much!

Awesome private tour in Athens!!!

Very happy with this tour we booked. Our guide Tolis was excellent. He was friendly and professional. He custom tailored our experience to suit our needs. He suggested we start early with the Acropolis to avoid the crowds and long lines. That turned out to be an excellent idea as by the time we finished, the lines and crowds had increased tenfold. Tolis took us to a great spot for lunch and even after the tour was done he helped us with tips on where to shop and where to enjoy the nightlife in Athens. Super experience and very happy to recommend. Thanks Tolis!!!

Best way to see Athens

Our driver/guide and the tour guide who showed us the Acropolis were excellent. We visited the Acroplis, the Acropilis museum, the temple of Zeus, the changing of the guard, the Academy, the olympic stadium, and the Agora, with a stop for lunch in between. The driver gave us the option of the national archelogical museum or the Agrora. Afer a friendly debate between my wife and me, we went to her choice, the Agora. We were happy with that choice, and will certainly return one day to visit the national archelogical museum It was an enjoyable day that was very full, yet relaxing. Worth every penny.

perfect full day Athens experience

great experience overall 1) the ride was nice and we had plenty of water to keep us hydrated 2) Ellis - our guide was outstanding. he was punctual, patient, knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating 3) good way for us to experience essential Athens in 9~10 hrs w/o getting too tired or w/o running around too much

Excellent full day in Athens

We had a wonderful very full day seeing Athens. Demetrius met us at our cruise ship and drove us expertly throughout the city giving us so much history and information and making stops at the parliament so we could see the changing of the guards and the Olympic Stadium and then all the way to Poseidon’s temple and a wonderful lunch by the water. He drove us to the acropolis where we met Betty who guided us through the whole area including the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. He even dropped off our luggage at our hotel so we had them when we arrived after our tour. Both guides gave us so much information and knowledge of the mythological and historical significance of these sites that we will truly never forgot our experience. Since we only had one day to see Athens this was the best way we could have experienced this beautiful city. We highly recommend this tour.

Perfect afternoon on the road visiting key historic sights

We were picked up right on time and our guide was both extremely knowledgeable and understandable. He shared great stories, insights and history during the full tour and we visited several of the key sights around the outskirts of Athens. It was a perfect day in a newer air conditioned vehicle - stopping for a wonderful meal by the water and first class service. We would highly recommend this tour

Amazing Athens

My husband and I recently spent a full day touring Athens booking Warmpenguin's Essential Athens Highlights tour. Our private tour guide, Dimitris, picked us up early at our hotel in a new Mercedes sedan and immediately began to educate us about the history of Athens and what to expect during our tour. He also asked us for any special requests that we might have so that he could adjust the tour to our liking. He could not have been friendlier or more knowledgeable - very professional, intelligent and equipped with an amazing sense of humor. Highlights of the tour included the Changing of the Guard, visiting the Acropolis, and The Temple of Poseidon which included a beautiful ride along the coast. Being in our 60's, Dimitris took special care that we could navigate the various attractions easily by making sure that the car was positioned well for drop off and pick-up. Additionally, Dimitris selected a really great restaurant on the water for us where we tasted some incredibly delicious fresh seafood and got a chance to meet the owner. At the end of the day, we spent some time shopping at some very interesting stores where, again, we had a chance to talk to the various owners. However, it was Dimitris' wit and charm that really sealed the day for us - we laughed all day while in his presence. It was a truly great way to see Athens, witness the incredible history firsthand, and meet interesting people along the way. We were very sad to say goodbye to Dimitris at the end of the day. We hope to return and see him again in the near future. We rate this Warmpenguin tour with five stars and highly recommend it to others. Just ask for Dimitris and tell him we said hi!!
