Epidaurus, Mycenae and Nafplio Small-Group Tour from Athens

A fabulous day out of modern Greece ro Ancient Greece!

This was a most interesting and informative tour to Epidaurus Corinth canal Mycaene and the first capital of Ancient Greece Nafplio. The tour guide was very knowledgeable on the history. It as a full day but the time flew buy as there was a lot to see! I would recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in the ancient history of Greece. The hi light for me was to see the famous Lion Gate at Mycaene.

Not enough time at the sites.

The tour guide was wonderful and the places we stopped were spectacular. But I could only give three stars because the three main stops were really rushed - only about an hour at each place.

Fabulous day out of Athens to Ancient Greece.

This was a great tour! So happy I did this. The tour guide Lily and Christos the driver were fabulous! So very helpful and spoke good English! I reco this tour to see more of Greece to Pelponesse areas in the southern part of the country. Despite the intense heat we soldered on and cold water was provided on board the van. As Nike say “ Just do it”

Amazing tour

Fabulous tour! Eliana and Kris were amazing and went the extra mile when the extremely hot weather affected the passengers. We learned so much from them about Greek history! Fifi shared so much as our tour guide at both sites. I would highly recommend! Thank you !

Fascinating trip. Quality of guides varied

Fascinating trip! Theodoro the guide on the (slightly dated) minibus was fantastic, full of information and very friendly. I wish he had been our tour guide for Mycenae. The tour guide we did have for mycenae was kinda disinterested, didn't give a lot of information, and mostly just pointed out the obvious. He mentioned the names of the various tombs but didn't give the important background information that we don't actually know who was buried in them, and that the names are only literary references. The tour guide for Epidaurus was a delight, very soothing and informative. I think the lead was buried on this part of the trip. I thought we were only going to see a theater, I didn't realize there was an entire ancient healing center complex attached. A great surprise. I would definitely do this trip again, but with perhaps a different guide for Mycenae so we could learn more.

Highly recommended daytrip.

This was a very worthwhile daytrip. I learned a lot about ancient Greece. Our guide Georgia was very informative and fun! The driver Kris was very professional. The highlights were the Corinth Canal, Epidaurus and Mycenae. Nafplio was a beautiful seaside town, but very crowded on a Sunday. The onsite guides were also very good. Being a small group of 11 people was also much better than a large bus tour.

Nafplio was beautiful

Theodore gave us a great day out. He was very knowledgeable with the history of the early Greeks and we had great chats about some of the more recent history too. We failed miserably with our initial knowledge of Greece but, after the day trip we could give Mastermind a run for its money. Patty at Epidaurus was great and the work that had gone into the Theatre so long ago was astounding. Nafplio was charming and Theodore's walking tour was fascinating. Couldn't work out why it was such an important trading centre as we approached from the mountains but then the brilliant sea views as we arrived explained it all.

Peloponnese / Greek historical site crush course

Recommend anyone wants an outside Athens day trip to go on this tour! The tour is very well organized. Our guide Georgia and Chris are knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic and fun! At Epidauras and Mycenae we got local guides who are so knowledgeable on the histories and archeological facts. All of the sites are so impressive and so different. We are so glad that we had the tour rather than exploring ourselves. There are a lot time spent on driving but necessary for a compact tour to see several sites in one day. Due to time limit we only had an hour and half at Napfolio which isn’t enough but we have decided to come back in future and stay there for a proper visit.

Amazing trip

The small group size made the trip. Van was very comfortable. Guide Theodore was amazing. Very knowledgeable and great personality. Sites were breathtaking and each site / museum had their own local tour guide. We got a tour of the town which was an added surprise. We went to a gyro restaurant where we had the best gyros of our whole trip. This was the best tour we took. Highly recommend.

Very informative tour.

Excellent tour guide Thomas. Very knowledgeable and helpful. They picked us up on time right in front of our apartment. I wish the minivan would have been more modern and comfortable. The seats were too tight. Very informative tour.

Great, well-timed tour that runs very smoothly

Comfortable and well-timed tour. Nice bus, though the seats are somewhat narrow, so keep this in mind if you need more space. It was fine with me. Theodore was informative and engaging, mixing history with banter and funny comments. The tour is somewhat of a whirlwind, but that’s only to be expected if you want to visit all those places. At each museum stop you buy your own ticket, and there is a local guide. All of the local guides were very knowledgeable. Everything runs very smoothly. I started at 8.30, and it felt that at every stop we were just ahead of the crowds. The driver was great! Thanks to the great team!

Enjoyable bus tour to Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nauplion

My wife and I joined a Keytours bus tour to Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nauplion. The guide, Irene, was extremely good. She was extremely knowledgeable and had so much information and history to share which made the tour so much more enjoyable. She was also passionate about what she was sharing and this made it more interesting as the sites were also so magnificent. Made history come alive especially for Mycenae and Epidarus. Nauplion was more of a lunch stop which was enjoyable and offered good views of Palamiti castle and Bourtzi castle which was good for photos. Long day tour but extremely good

Absolutely fantastic tour! The guides were all very knowledgeable and the van was comfortable to travel in. It was a wonderful chance to see all these sites in a single day

This tour was amazing. Theodore, our guide was exceptional, knowledgeable and passionate about the history of his homeland. There was only 8 people in the tour that made it easier and comfortable. We all enjoyed Nafplio, Patty was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. Tony is amazing at maneuvering through the city. And Georgia was a pleasure as a guide. All in all entertaining crew and very beautiful. They deserve a raise :)

One of the best tours we’ve taken

What a fantastic tour we had with Theodore as our guide. His knowledge on all things Greek, modern and ancient, was brilliant. It was a long day but with so much to take in from each of our destinations it was so easy. Even when protests disrupted our homeward journey he came up with a workaround that saw us catch a Metro and even that was a great experience!

Lovely intro to the Peloponnese region

We had a lovely day exploring the Pelopponese region with Theodore as a guide. He gave us so much info on the places and also Greek mythology! We had to have different tour guides at Epidaurus and Mycanae (which was included) and they were excellent too. It was raining and maybe a nice touch would have been some of those disposable raincoats as most of our group wasn't rain ready and the tour is almost all outdoors. All the places we visited were different to each other and so interesting. A great day trip!

History, culture and laughs

Our guide, Theodore, was excellent really friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot. The visits to Mycenae and Epidavros were very good with a great guide. We especially enjoyed gyros and a walking tour of Nafplion. Such a pretty town. Minibus was very comfortable with a great driver. A great day trip!

Great day trip out of Athens!

This was one of our first tours in Greece and I essentially forced my jet-lagged mother to tag along but she had a great time (see photos). Our tour guide Theodore made the drive out to the sites extra enjoyable with his introductions and anecdotes, and we particularly enjoyed his optional walking tour through Nafplio which is a beautiful area, a must-see if you have the opportunity while in Greece. Patty was also very personable and gave valuable insights at each of our historical stops. On top of everything else the van was very comfortable and very clean, Dionysis the driver ensured we had a smooth trip!

Great trip!

This was a really good tour with Danai as the tour guide and Alexander as the driver. Starting with the Corinth Canal and from there to Epidaurus which was really interesting and stopped at Nafplio for a light lunch before continuing on to the final stop at Mycenae. Danai was a very good guide and explained the Myths and history very well. There was a slight hiccup at the final stop because the traffic was halted due to the Olympic flame coming through the area but also great to catch a glimpse of the Olympic flame, a good highlight to end the tour!

Nicely organized trip....

Nicely organized trip. But .... Our guide was talking about food 60% of the time and 40% about history. Also we have separated in Na , I have chosen an option to walk about town by myself. Guide noted 3 times not to be late..Than group was 35 min late. They sent me message on Whatsapp. Do not use that app, did not have internet on my phone. Giude just could have called me. Did not even apologize. End up spending 30 min less in Epidaurus. One off the most famous historical places in the World. So, no, I can't recommend this agency. There are in Athens much more professional agencies. Lucky for me I found it and went to other tours with them

Nice

Theo, Theo, and Alexander were great. They picked us up a block from our hotel. Younger Theo gave a history overview during the drive. Corinth Canal is a convenient rest stop. 2nd Theo joined for Mycenae and later again for Theatre of Epidaurus. He was passionate about history/health and helped navigate the student crowds (it was a weekend during their spring break). We opted for the walking tour/gyro (it was great and our most affordable meal in Greece) in Nafplio. Drop off was late enough in the day we avoided the worst of Athens traffic. It was around 2hrs back and most of us napped. Nice people.

Full Day Tour From Athens

Terrific tour from Athens. Got to walk the historic sites listed, and also had a terrific walking tour in Naphlion with our guide Theodore. He was knowledgeable, and definitely made our tour!

Great variety

Lovely diverse tour, ranging from the impressive Corinth canal, the archaeologial ruins of Mycene, a city walk through the Venetian-style Nafplio, and the impressive and well-preserved theater of Epidaurus. Teodor kept us informed & entertained throughout the trip, and local & competent guides provided extra insights at the sites and museums of Mycene and Epidaurus. Consider this trip if you're looking for some variety between sitting on a minibus and actually visiting sites, as some other tours visited less sites and required longer bus trips.

Unexpected private tour since it was a very small group.

I'm so glad I booked this comprehensive package to make travelling outside of Athens easier. The tour guides and the travel were all amazing. I've always wanted to go to Mycenae and I'm very glad I did it with viator. It was easy from start to finish. The unexpected highlight was Nafplio I fell in love with the beautiful place. x

Theodor and Vasileos were fantastic; they were friendly and helpful from the start and had a wide range of interesting facts about Greek history (both ancient and modern) to share. The sights were stunning and Patty made sure to show us the highlights of each ancient area.

FABULOUS DAY TRIP!!! 5 stars!

We started they day at 8,30, driver Vassilii and guide Ileana were ready at the meeting point. Along the way Ileana was so pleased to explain EVERYTHING about the greek culture, mythology, the points we were traveling etc, she was so nice and her explanations were very clear in very good english. Always ready to reply our questions Arriving to the site the Official Guide Esmeralda was already waiting for us and she was deeply knowledgeable, made her effort to explain in spanish also, showed us all the place, museum etc with rich stories and also willing to attend our questions. The site is impressive, 1200BC!! After finishing Mycenae visit she rushed to go to Epidaurus so she was there when our minibus arrive, and take a lot of time to explain all along the big site (theater, museum, and other temples and buildings) I regret seriously not carrying money with me when she left as she really deserves a good tip, her explanations exceeded what you normally receive. Finally we went to Nafplios, nice city that Ileana showed us around giving the explanations and we had lunch by the sea, great. On the way back Vassilii was attentive to the best route to avoid traffic jam and Ileana shared a lot of information about the city and recommended several restaurants, cafés and bakeries. We Loved this trip and being the last we took from athens it was the best brooch to finish!

Get out of Athens and Explore Greece.

What a great day. We ended up with private tour with Alexandros and he was perfect and knowledgeable and so easy to interact with. We wanted to see more than Athens, see Greece for its beauty and its history. Starting with a short stop at the Corinth Canal which divided mainland Greece from the Peloponnese. From there we were met with our guide in Epidaurus, Theodopolis, who started by explaining the history of the 12 Greek Gods and how they play a role into your in being. The highlight of the stop was the explanation of the guide and a visit to the ancient theater. We were told how the acoustics were perfect and he demonstrated how a coming dropping on a center point can be heard in the last row of the theater. Next stop was Nafplio a beautiful seaside town where Alex joined us for a walk around the town. Our last stop was Mycenae where Katerina guided us through the prehistoric history dating back over 3000 years ago. First visiting the museum with many artifacts that give meaning to history that has no written background. Finishing with Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate and the Royal Tombs. The guides added so much depth to our tour but Alex was the star. If you want to explore Greece away from the typical Acropolis tour, Alex is the one to give you a great day of exploration.

Amazing tour

The trip was excellent - a lot of ground to cover but it was worth it The van was great, only six of us on a van that could hold 15+. Picked us up right in front of our hotel and dropped us off there The guides were fantastic and friendly Was hesitant to book at first but it was amazing - do not worry about booking with this company

A great expérience!

We had a wonderful time, our driver Vasil was very helpful and generous of his time. And our guide Patti was very knownledgeable, making this visit truly interesting and fun, learning a lot about the locations we visited.

Amazing Experience

I cannot recommend this highly enough. The tour was informative and took us to see some incredible places. Mycenae and Epidaurus are must see sites for anyone interested in Greek history or archaeology, and Nafplio is a wonderful town to explore.

Mycenae and Epidaurus- Lovely Day

Driver was excellent. He provided information about all the cities we visited and the sites we passed. Also provided information about Athens. The local guide in Mycenae and Epidaurus was very good. We chose to have a quick lunch in Naphlio and opted for Souvlaki. Both historic sites were incredible.

Fun, full-day tour of Mycenae, Napflion, and Epidaurus. Great side-trip outside Athens.

These full-day tours are the way to go if you don't want to deal rental cars and the traffic in/out of Athens for visiting nearby sites. Got picked up at our hotel by the tour leads, the lovely Gari and Despi. Gari is a young archeologist and knows her stuff. We have a faily small group of about 8 for this tour. We stopped briefly at the Corinth canal for a pit stop, then first stop was Mycenae. There we were guided by our site guide gave us an informative tour of the museum and an overview of the site. First part is the Treasury of Atreus, then the museum, then about an hour to explore the citadel and the ruins of the main site. Might have needed about another 15 minutes to see everything there, but then I like to wander these sites more thoroughly. After Mycenae, we head to Napflion for lunch and small walk around the town to see the sites. Great lunch at one of the waterfront tavernas. Later in the afternoon, onto Epidaurus to see the ancient theatre and the ruin of the site. Great local guide to explain and point out the history, purpose, and context of the place. Was a long day, from about 8AM to about 7PM, but was fun, educational, and entertaining. Gari was riot! She's funny and smart; she had as all at ease as she kept the group engaged. I think this tour operator is very good at what they do as we also used them for the Delphi the day earlier. Good value and worth it.

Lovely trip

Gari, Debbie (Desiderata? jk ) and the driver Bill made for a lovely day. Gari was so welcoming and so knowledgeable about archeology. We absolutely loved our day at the bee cave, Mycenae, Napfoli , and Epidaurus . Excellent , good memories for us

Five star! Best tour experience in greece.

Our tour guide Theodore that accompanied us in the van gave us a crash course on more recent Greek history and overall Greek mythology. He gave an excellent walking tour of Nafplio and showed us many beautiful and historic spots in the 1.5 hours. Our local Mycenae and Epidaurus guide Patty was amazing as well. We had booked this tour last minute and had our reservations. But completely blew past our expectations and was an amazing experience for our family with school aged children. The driver of the mini bus was professional and safe. The bus was very comfortable and included water and cold drinks.

Memorable day trip into the Peleponnese

Fantastic tour, well worth the time. Mycenae is an incredible site. The Treasury of Atreus (the beehive tomb) is one of the most memorable buildings we've visited (right up there with the Hagia Sofia, Stonehenge and others), still intact after 3600 years. The citadel of Mycenae is also incredible, walking through the Lion Gate, and up to the top of the citadel, and taking in the views across the hills and plains all the way to the sea. Nafplio, where we stopped for lunch and a walking tour, is a beautiful seaside town. The Theatre of Epidaurus was also worth the visit, to see this large, still intact Greek theatre, and to be able to climb to the top, and to sit in the original stone and marble seats. Our guides, Gari and Ilianas, were great, some of the best guides we've ever had. We had a very small group for this trip, just us and another couple, so it felt like a personal tour. We really enjoyed talking to Gari and Illianas, learning not only about the sites we were visiting and areas along the way, but also about life in Greece. We were also provided with a professional guide, Patty, for the tours of Mycenae and Epidaurus, and she provided a lot of really interesting information. We had a really great experience, and would highly recommend this tour and this tour operator (Getaways Greece), as well as Gari and Ilianas, if you're lucky enough to get them for your tour!

Do this trip!

This was a wonderful day trip, we loved being able to get driven to these sites and be able to see Mycenae, the theater of Epidaurus, and Napflio. Luckily we were a small group so it felt very intimate. They picked us up right in front of our airbnb. We stopped for a quick coffee at the Corinth Canal. Vera our guide met us at Mycenae and showed us around - she was sassy and funny. Then we went to Napflio and grabbed lunch and walked around town with our host Gari, who was the best host we could have asked for. She knows a ton about Greek history and is so passionate about Greece and its culture. After that we went to the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus and met our guide Patty, who was also very nice.It was a full day trip and we're so glad we did it. Truly unforgettable, so much fun, so much history. And Gari - please hit us up if you find yourself in California! - Kyra and Alex
