Great trip to Delphi

Great tour! Our guide provided lots of information about Greek culture and history. The archaeological site and museum were fascinating. Plus stopping briefly in the small town was an added plus. So picturesque!

Our day tour to Delphi

The information provided by the tour guide was excellent and her attention to ensuring that we were all looked after and enjoyed the whole experience was excellent. Getting out into the mountain area was fascinating and the site of Delphi and its museum was just amazing.

Great Historical Tour

What made this tour so wonderful for me was the immense knowledge of the tour guide. Unfortunately, I did not write his name down and I can't remember who it was. I took so many tours on this trip! Wandering around in the ruins and the museum would only have been half as spectacular if it was expected that we do it without a guide to bring everything to life. This was one of my favorites of all the tours I took, and it is ironic because I had at one time thought about not going on this tour. I am so glad that I did! Thank you so much to the guide (I hope you can research when I took the trip and please post his name with this review so that he can get some well-deserved accolades!! My apologies to him again for not writing his name down.) After reading other reviews, I saw that some people were very pleased (like me!!!) and some felt disappointed. I try really hard to match my tastes with what the tour offers and that is why I read a lot of the reviews before I make my choice. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who REALLY wants to dig deep into the history of this location, and I hope they get the guide who really impressed me with his outstanding knowledge! His passion for passing on that knowledge is what placed this tour head and shoulders above most of the others that I took! Thank you again for this wonderful experience.

Quick overview of Delphi

Great for a quick overview of the site with a very quick tour of the museum. Wish I had booked the longer trip with the tour of Meteora. Food was mediocre cafeteria food, and surprised that all drinks, even water, was an additional charge.

Best tour of Delphi

Great tour of Delphi! The group tour was organized and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Delphi. We were allowed plenty of time to explore the archaeological site, museum, and village. Lunch was a full course meal in a village. Highly recommended.

A great experience

We both enjoyed the entire tour. Our guide was informative and professional. Our driver was also professional and friendly.

The Sacred Way, Center of the Universe then, and now!

Amazing place, energy, views, history, oracles, etc., etc. so worth the drive to Delphi to visit this Temple and Sanctuary. I went there with a purpose as I need to heal my heart, body and soul and Apollo is the G-d of healing, light, prophecy. Well, the energy is so strong that one can feel the presence of Gaia everywhere and the deities. Vicky, our guide was a book of knowledge, she knows her history from A to Z and George was an amazing driver. Loved everything about it.

Effie was a fantastic guide, Delphi was amazing, but the rest of the tour wasn't so great

Effie was an absolutely fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and clear, and brought everything to life for us. We learned a lot (and we already thought we knew a fair bit!). The information about the trip on the Viator site is a little misleading though - we didn't have three hours at the Delphi site, just a little over 90 minutes. The museum was very interesting afterwards, but we would have liked a few minutes to ourselves to pop into the shop and go back to some of the exhibits; instead we were ushered back to the coach for the lunch stop. The included (set) dinner really isn't worth it - it isn't very nice and an a la carte menu was available which we would have preferred. The stop off at Aracova on the way back was also a bit pointless - there is nothing there and it would have been better to just get on the road and get back to Athens before rush hour. Overall, the trip was a great way to visit Delphi, and the guide was excellent, which outweigh our niggles, hence giving the tour four stars.

Beautiful Delphi

Even the rain couldn’t ruin this tour! Our guide was fabulous! She had so much to share!!! I believe the cost was reasonable except it says includes hotel pick up but only includes a few hotels….

Great day visiting a stunning historical site

Thoroughly enjoyable day out to the stunning Delphi historical site featuring the Temple of Apollo. Lots of fascinating facts and information from our knowledgeable guide Effy. Nice coffee break stop on the way up at Livadeia with a lunch stop near the beautiful mountain town of Arachova. Snow on Mt Parnassus a bonus to all the other breathtaking views. Excellent Museum adjacent to the Delphi site should not be missed. Good, safe driver. Overall a highly memorable, wonderful day. Definitely recommended!

A Long Day In Delphi

This trip was so interesting. Our guide was both knowledgeable and helpful. She made sure each of us had a great experience. Delphi was awesome even with the very long bus rides. Lunch was tasty and filling but very rushed. The only negative was the included pick up but from out hotel. The woman was impatient and did not want to answer any questions or explain anything. She was extremely disorganized. We just had to do our best and keep up. I would recommend this one day trip. This site was well worth seeing.

Must see place to go...

Must see place to go while in Athens. Worth the drive to see these amazing ruins. Scenic trip once your mountains.

Delightful Delphi, definitely worth the time and price of the ticket.

Delightful and knowledgeable tour guide, stunning natural setting of the archeological site, and excellent choice of restaurant for lunch. The drive from Athens to Delphi afforded the opportunity to see beautiful parts of Greece and learn more about Greek agriculture.

Good to see but many tours groups and not enough time to explore on your own.

Museum is very interesting but packed with other tour groups. Not enough time exploring Delphi on your own- less than 30 mins to reach the stadium and back to rejoin the tour. Lunch is average.

Bullying at Delphi

I had been wanting to go to Delphi for many many years. I am 61yrs. I put my Ted ( Fred ) on this low column for 60 secs and then had a woman employee there jabbing her finger at my chest and aggressively telling me off. When this interaction was finished, I walked up and sat meditating on a wooden bench near the theatre area . The staff member then came upto me and shouted to put the teddy bear in my bag ( it was at my side and i was not doing anything with it) . I was thinking extremely distressed and I went to complain to the manager. I also lost my tour group for a short time as I was so upset. The tour guide was lovely and I enjoyed the trip overall. Staff should not treat people this way. It would not be allowed in England.

Beautiful day trip

This was a great trip, Delphi was beautiful and they give you enough time to see all of it and roam on your own, but also take you on a guided museum tour. The winery lunch was also well worth it, but there aren't really other restaurants around so I would recommend you sign up for the lunch.

The perfect outing for family and friends, but not during the hot summer months :)

The visit of the archeological site was extremely uncomfortable due to the very high temperatures that we experienced on that day. I understand it would have been impossible to be there at 6 am, the only time frame which would have made the visit enjoyable. The visit to the museum was nice. That part we enjoyed, as well as the location of our lunch in an a/c cool environment.

Just fantastic

Gorgeous scenery, awe-inspiring sites--overall a wonderful trip. Effie our guide was so informative, lunch was delicious, and everything was well paced. Highly recommend.

Worth the trip however some logistical issues.

Delphi is a must to see it is spectacular. However the logistics could have been better. The morning pick up was disorganized and took 1 hour looping around to pick up passengers at hotel points very close together. Some of the passengers were off loaded on to other buses for other tours. Not a great start. The bus driver failed to manage the bus temperature.

Day Trip to Delphi

Except for the nasty traffic leaving Athens, this tour was great! A beautiful archeological site in the mountains was enjoyed by all of us. Lunch was pretty good too. We’ll worth it!

It was a day well spent

We were picked up at Presidents Hotel on time and left as scheduled . It was a tiring but fruitful whole day trip to Delphi. The lunch was delicious ( we ordered ala carte not the prepaid menu) 👍👍👍 Bus was comfortable with wifi.

What to wxpecr

Really wished guide would have taken more time at the ruins for education. Felt like there was so much more to tell us and we had to do it on our own. Museum was interesting and lunch was great.

Bad Tour

This was a pretty bad tour which is a shame considering that the site of Delphi is so amazing. We had a small tour of 13 people but had to stop 3 times so people could use the bathroom (not including the ending lunch stop and souvenir stand stop which both also had bathrooms). The tour guide's English was not the best and she was difficult to follow. This was made even worse considering this is a headset tour so you are trying to listen to her through one earbud. Other tours were much larger and the guide used his/her actual voice to explain things so I would have preferred the guide would have done that rather than use the headset. But her tour itself was also poor. She rushed us through the site and museum and gave us limited explanation of sites as we walked by them. We hardly stopped. I honestly learned more by listening in on other guides giving other tours. In the museum, the guide got confused on multiple occasions and ended up correcting herself by checking the placards. I feel like I would have gotten more and better information by exploring the site/museum alone and just reading the signs. This was a really bad tour.

Site and Museum Incredible, Tour Disappointing

The morning of our original date, we received a phone call asking why we weren't at the pick-up site. Our paperwork said 8:30, but it was not clear that pick-ups start at 7:30. We called Viator Customer Support (who were very helpful) and they were able to reschedule us for the next day. We were picked up at 7:20 (we made it a point to be there early). The pick-ups went on and on and we didn't actually leave Athens until about 8:50. There was a lot of confusion where several buses gathered, and they moved people from one bus to another. Once we arrived at the site, we were expecting to be able to explore the site on our own, but this was a formal guided tour with headphones and transmitters. There were several other groups there and it was difficult to stay with the group. The tour guide was knowledgeable, but we don't care to listen to talking all day. After about an hour at the site, there was again a lot of confusion. Apparently, some people from our tour were being transferred to another 2-day tour, so they had luggage to transfer to another bus. We had to stand around while all this got straightened out, when we would have preferred having more time to explore the site/museum. We spent about 45 minutes at the museum and again this was a guided tour and as there were several other groups, we did not get to see everything. Next, was lunch. We opted not to be included with the group lunch as some of the reviews we read were negative. The description says the restaurant in in the village, so we were thinking that we would find a different restaurant. This was not possible as there is nothing around the restaurant. We did stay at this restaurant and ordered some appetizers which were excellent. Overall, we were glad to see the site and museum, but the tour itself was disappointing.

Great trip to Delphi

We enjoyed the history and fun facts that Cassandra told us on the bus ride and at the Delphi site. It was so much easier to enjoy the trip in a nice bus. The lunch was also very enjoyable. This tour was well worth it!

Fun day at Delphi

Delphi was spectacular and marvelous. tour guide Maria was very informative and had interesting information. Museum was an excellent addition to exploring the site. It had wonderful art The only negative was the prepaid lunch — while appetizers and dessert was good, only two choices for main course and it was mediocre at best. would have been better off not prepaying and ordering a la carte

Wonderful trip to Delphi

The day trip to Delphi was the most memorable part of our Athens trip.It was unforgettable and our guide Effi was excellent. We had time to explore the other parts of the temple complex and we enjoyed the museum.

Wonderful Delphi trip

The tour bus picked us up in front of our hotel in Athens and took us to Delphi. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The bus ride wasn't too bad. We had gorgeous views.

Delphi was excellent. The restaurant food was very poor. Dry chicken. Lukewarm soup. Day wasn’t inexpensive so I expected a far better quality meal

Effie & Delfi Tour Great

Effie was a very nice guide. The tour of Delfi and its museum was great. We had pre-fixed menu included - the food was ok but not outstanding. I think that you can skip the pre-fixed menu and get something a la carte and it would be a better choice. There was very little time in Arachova - less than half hour - I would have enjoyed a little bit more time there.

The Oracle will see You Now

This was a perfect way for us to see a bit of Greece outside of Athens. We enjoyed exploring the archeological site, followed by a brief visit to the museum. It might have been nice to have more time in the museum, but we realize that there’s only so much time when the to-from drive is long. The restaurant where we stopped afterwards was very pleasant, with nice grounds and scenic views. We opted to not to buy the ticket with lunch included. We were very happy to order off the menu. The group lunch looked good but it included a bunch of courses – much more than we could have eaten.

Amazing Delphi trip

Our guide was a wonderful historian. She made the ancient past of Delphi come alive. The bus was comfortable and we made enough stops to break up the day. We had more than enough time to explore the ruins and her highlights of the museum were very informative.

Great Day Trip from Athens

We really enjoyed this tour. The trip from Athens to Delphi is long but the Mercedes Sprinter van was very comfortable and had WiFi plus USB outlets at each seat. The mountains are beautiful and we were glad we weren’t the ones driving! Delphi is pretty amazing and the museum is very good. Be sure to wear shoes that are sturdy and allow for walking on uneven steps, inclines, etc (typical for Greece). We opted to tour without lunch and instead chose our own little place, which we much prefer. We did hear from others, though, that the lunch buffet was very good. The only negative I would mention is that our tour guide just didn’t seem that excited by her job. I never saw her smile even once, so I’m not sure if she was having a bad day perhaps? You never know what people are going through….she may have just needed grace and space. Take the time to go all the way up to the stadium if you’re physically able to do so!

Good guide but terrible lunch option and too short stay at museum &site

The guide was doing her best but overall the trip was spending way too much time at restaurants instead of museum and the site. Especially the museum we didn't even get any time to walk around on our own. While we spend more than two hours on two restaurant stops. The lunch was a terrible option. When we booked the tour there was only meal included option available. For the same price, our lunch has not much choice to choose, the cabbage salad was a sad salad, chicken with rice was so salty that we had to get some additional baked potato to go with it. While folks pay separately for the meal had much better food choices at the restaurant.

Great tour with a not so great tour guide

Delphi is absolutely beautiful and the restaurant was amazing but our tour guide George was very rude and seemed to not like women. It made for a bunch of uncomfortable experiences.

As advertised, but some details appeared overlooked.

On time arrival and kept to schedule as advertised. Tour was combined with multiple languages and sometimes rushed. Level of details and explanation did not match other groups we encountered. Overall good, but with repeating in multiple languages took away time.

The view from the top of Delphi overlooking amphitheatre and the temple is the bucket list of mine. Beautiful and amazing

Delphi in a day

Bus was big and spacious. It was a long trip to Delphi but worth it. Tour guide explained majority of the areas within Delphi and Athens but found his humor a bit sarcastic instead of funny. Had to walk addtl 30 minutes to see the theater and stadium so bring water if you plan to do this. After the tour, we stopped by a store selling rugs/clothes and was given a few minutes to walk around. The area wasnt good. Wish we had a better stopover for coffee and snacks

Meh

The actual site of Delphi is not worth seeing. There’s nothing left basically. The drive was very long as well. The tour felt rushed. But the museum at Delphi was wonderful. Idk I sort of wish I hadn’t used what ended up being an entire day on this.

Great day out of the city.

Enjoyed our trip to Delphi while spending a week in the Athens area. The coach bus was very comfortable. Our guide was full of information. Seeing the ruins at Delphi and the museum was very good. Beautiful scenery with the mountains and snow.

Wonderful trip. 0ur guide Marianna was extremely informative and very pleasant to tour with. The whisper device was excellent and had excellent range.

Well worth the long drive

This is a beautiful trip and glad I took the time to do it. It is a bit far from Athens (2 hour drive each way) so a lot of bus time but we’ll worth it. The guide was very professional and gave just the right amount of information. The lunch was also excellent!

Wonderful day trip to Delphi

We really enjoyed our tour of Delphi. The bus trip up was comfortable and informative. The guide had lots of history to share. There was a rest stop along the way (thanks!). Delphi itself was amazing. We learned a lot about the mythology and enjoyed the tour and walking around the grounds. The museum is beautiful, with so many artifacts to see. Lunch afterwards was delicious. Highly recommend.

The place was nice with mountains all around and the ancient ruins. The tour guide was very informative.
