Athens: National Archaeological Museum Ticket

Cool history spot

Lots of interesting history for a few hours in a cool (temperature wise) setting. It was nice to get out of the heat of Athens for a few hours. Very interesting and good audio tour.

One of the greatest museums in the world

As you stroll through the museum and admire the artifacts and the majestic walls. The museum is the largest archaeological museum in Greece and one of the most important museums in the world devoted to ancient Greek art. You will see the Gold Death mask of Agamemnon, and the Ring of Theseus. There are also great sculpture like the statues of Zeus, Poseidon and Aphrodite..

Great peek into Ancient Greece in a couple of hours.

Purchase a ticket with the audio guide for a richer experience. We visited on a Friday morning and so did many other local school children on field trips! Be sure to visit the highlighted sculptures from the tour. I especially loved the Mycenae jewelry collections!

They need physical tickets

Arriving at the museum the download for the tickets would not work. It gave an Error message. We had to pay admission to the museum despite already paying Viator. Now I cannot get my refund.

Not worth the money

Ticket by the door entrance cost 6€. Here you sell it more expensive. Not worth buying in advance and over paying!! By straight away there. Cheaper

Good enough experience with minor comments.

Rate 3. One reason is that some areas of museum was isolated without notice. Another reason is the guide programe is not updated well. Some room numbers and exhibited items are not matched or missing.

Lots of inventory and rich in history but missing an overview

It was fantastic to see all the artifacts and learn the historical age (amazing) but we were missing an overview. Since most of us took some form of Greek history in school, we felt we still needed a refresher to put the story of leaders/ages together. If you purchase tickets online and show your pass to enter, you jump the line which is great, but are whisked into the museum with very little if no orientation. Happy to use a QR code to access a website or app, but nothing was offered. We searched for the website and a map and found one but still felt the organization of objects was random. The website has a virtual tour – great – but still needs that timeline.

Bad vendor

never emailed actual tickets. emailed guide to audio but never sent ticket had to purchase at the museum. asked for a refund and denied refund. this vendor should be removed.

Wonderful

This collection is a must see if you’re visiting Athens. Laid out very nicely, you’ll want to allow 2-3 hours for your visit. Nice cafeteria downstairs also.

Difficult to reach customer service

6/26/23 Athens Greece. I paid for admission for two to the National Archeological Museum with audio. No instructions for audio were included with the ticket as stated and instructions were not available through the museum. I respectfully requested a refund for the audio portion. To date I have not received a response. The cost was approximately double the cost if we had booked directly through the museum

No Audio Tour Exists at this Venue

It’s not necessary to buy skip the line tickets if going in the late afternoon. Also we purchased these tickets specifically to receive the audio explanation of the exhibits and when we arrived we were told no such audio tour exists at the museum. Will be submitting for a refund.

Fantastic Museum

A fantastic museum, well organized, amazing pieces. A shame some sculptures are incomplete because of pilfering and are in other museums out of Greece. Pay attention to the hours, they open later on Tuesdays (which worked out wonderfully for us, we arrived a little while before opening unknowingly, and we able to be some of the first visitors inside

Museum is fantastic

We purchased the skip the line ticket with audio. The audio portion was not working as instructed. The museum itself is extraordinary!! A must do!

We were looking for less known artifacts, but ended up looking all! Great Experience . Pleasant coffee shop in the museum garden, too.

Very well laid out Museum to see all the history documenting Ancient Greece, however there was no audio tour?

Don’t miss this

These tickets got us in quickly and pleasantly. Do not miss this museum. Tremendous collection with (lucky us) excellent documentation telling us what we were looking at, where it is from, & why it is significant. Wished we had allowed ourselves more time.
