Iris was great at explaining the history and the stories behind the buildings. A lot of “local” knowledge was shared. Iris was great.

Acropolis EXPERIENCE

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining! There are many shaded areas along the tour to get relief from the Grecian sun! The views of the city are spectacular!

Excellent tour of ancient Athens

A very welcoming and engaging tour. Our guide was on time, professional, and spoke excellent english. She was very personable, nice and all around a pleasure to spend the morning with.

Acropolis and museum

Excellent tour with the fantastic guide Kostas. Highly recommend this experience. Wear shoes with some grip and go in the morning so you have a fresh mind to take in all the information!

Great tour!

This tour was great. Excellent history. The hike is rigorous but doable. The heat was unbearable on the day of our visit and when one of our party felt unwell-we were able to take the elevator down and then a man in a golf cart took us to the entrance

Wonderful tour guide

Our tour guide, Angelika, was excellent! She was informative and funny. She made it easy to walk up the hill with well timed stops and made the museum come to life. We enjoyed it so much!

Great guided tour

Our guide Natasha was great, very knowledgeable and engaging. Tour of the Acropolis site was very good and she was great at guiding us to spots with great views.

If you only have a short time in Athens this is a must do

An excellent tour which I was able to do on the 1/2 day I had available in Athens on a business trip. The guide was excellent. It was amazing to learn more of the history of ancient Athens and the derivation of so many words.

Historical visit

The tour was great…tour guide was excellent. A bit more of the mythology behind things would be even better.

Underwhelming Experience. Not Worth the Effort

Underwhelming Experience. The crown jewel of the Acropolis are the Parthenon and the 2 smaller temples next to it. Yet, not much is left of the Parthenon and whatever few sculptures you see are replicas!! The real ones have been transported to the nearby Acropolis Museum for display and safe keeping. So you climb the hill just to see a bunch of replica plaster art! Not worth it especially on scorching hot days with hordes of tourists unloaded from the cruise ships.

This tour was AMAZING! Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and ensured each participant had a great time.i highly recommend!

Great guide!

Our guide really helped with our understanding of the experience. Without her, we would have rushed through.

Hot morning at the Acropolis

Booking was easy; instructions to find meeting point/ reps good. Our Rep spoke excellent English. Came away with a good knowledge of the history of the beautiful ruins. The extreme heat took away from the experience. Glad to get to the cool museum.

Great experience

Great guide gave easy to understand information. Museum is first class and again the guide was amazing

Need new audio devices!

Our guide Kostas was very knowledgeable. However, it was 103 degrees Fahrenheit and he was not very attentive to the older people in the group. The audio devices were not very good either. Several in my group had ear pieces that cut in and out and then stopped working.

Viator was good but will do ship tour instead

The experience was good and the information and historical background plentiful. However, as pleasant as Orestis is...he was not as down to earth as we would of liked. For example, he has a wealth of information but it was like listening to a teacher or reading a long and boring book. Also, although we had entry to the museum, we never received a ticket so when the tour ended we could not enter the ruins at the bottom floor. That greatly disappointed us for the money we paid.

Excellent guide

Great tour, excellent knowledgeable guide. Kept us out of the sun as much as he could. Appreciated 30 minute tour in museum, allowing you look at own leisure afterwards.

Go with this Skip the Line Tour!

This tour was great and I highly recommend it with the Akropolis Museum. Our guide, Kostos, really liked his job and his knowledge of history came through. I did think he was a bit too cautious about places he took us favoring the older people in our tour if stairs or areas of observation were too difficult for them. We had some free time to make up for it in the end. Go early as they suggest or at 5 pm to avoid the heat and crowds.

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience!! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, interesting and caring of the group. Even my teenage so and daughter were interested in what we learned from our guide.

Superb tour

What a great tour. I booked this through Get Your Guide and thought the price of the tour was reasonable. The instructions were clear and once we arrived at the location there was only a short wait for our guide. I wish I can remember his name as he was fab! Really engaging, keeping my partner and I engaged throughout, even making a few jokes throughout to break up the experience. The audios were fine, obviously if you separate or drag behind them connections are lost but that’s the same with any tour. The acropolis tour was honestly so interesting and great. It is what I expected Athens to be like and I personally am fascinated with Ancient Greek. Met a cute cat along the way which is always a bonus. The view from the top was amazing. The architecture incredible and I was really pleased that they are doing a rebuild on parts of the ruins so that it will stand proud again. There are toilets at the top of the hill which will be a relief as it is quite a long tour. I would advise on bringing water with you though they do not allow you to eat on the walk round. The museum was exceptional, with some places not allowing any photographs, though as usual inconsiderate people ignored this. When the tour ended we were able to remain on the museum and there is a cafe inside which serves pretty average food but does have a lovely view of the Acropolis. Highly recommend this tour!

Excellent tour guide

Irene was an excellent tour guide! It was extremely warm and this tour requires quite a bit of walking. Irene set a manageable pace even for the elderly folks in the group and did her best to find shade and remind us to drink water. She is extremely knowledgeable and made sure we got all the important info.

Just buy the entrance tickets and use audio guides

By far not worth the money: - Technical problems for four hours with the headset - queing at the entrance to Acropolis, no fast lane included - Waiting due to participants without entrance tickets or those not showing up - long reaction time - Few details described and poor structure in story telling

Poor Experience

On the positive side, it was easy to find the meeting location, the headsets worked well when our guide was in range, and we started on time. Unfortunately our guide was very inexperienced with the material she was presenting and did not know how to keep the group together. The tour ended up being so dull and frustrating we chose to return our headsets and do the museum on our own.

Acropolis and Acropolis Museum a must

A absolute must if in Athens. Even if you don’t like guided tours, this is a must do so you understand what you’re looking at and learn. Amazing history and views. Our guide Alexia was super knowledgeable and made it interesting and fun, she was beyond great. The museum is very impressive all glass and replicates the floor plan of the Parthenon. Make sure tu get the tour including the tickets already so you don’t have to worry about anything. Highly recommended

Excellent tour guide

Christos was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable on the topics. We could tell that he was very excited to be sharing all the information with us, which made the tour even more enjoyable. It was incredibly hot during the tour and our guide made an effort to find shade at every stopping point.

Excellent but long tour

Athens, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum are absolutely worth seeing and worth doing with a guide. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Athens and the Acropolis, and did an excellent job of communicating it to the group. She did a good job of getting us through everything ahead of the crowds, but three and a half hours of walking up and down the hill, standing for extended periods and listening to a tremendous amount of information proved too much. Many of the group dropped out long before the tour ended. I recommend a more manageable approach with a guided tour of the Acropolis, a break from absorbing information, and seeing the museum on your own.

Amazing Historical Tour

Our guide was the perfect mix of culture education and history teacher in our tour through ancient Athenian sites like the Acropolis, Parthenon, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, ancient temples, and the Acropolis Museum. There were frequent breaks on a hot day in the shade as the walk up the acropolis is steep at times. The group size was perfect and we walked away happy with the tour!

Wonderful tour!

We had a wonderful time on our tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Our tour guide was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable, funny and kind. We really enjoyed the entire experience!

Bucket list tour

Touring the Acropolis was one of my bucket list items, and this tour exceeded my expectations. The meeting location was a relatively easy, and very scenic walk from our hotel on Athinas Street. You wind your way up the Acropolis similar to how I imagine the Greeks did during the classical period. Stops at the Theater of Dionysus, the temple of Asklepios, and the Roman Theater were definitely highlights, yet upstaged by the magnificent Parthenon. Our tour guide was very good.

Seeing all the incredible structures that I didn’t realize even existed. Learning about the life and challenges facing those that built them.

Not for the faint

The meeting point instructions need improvement. We met our guide at the very last moment and only thanks to some great coordination did we join the tour. The climb up to the parthenon was much more difficult than you let on….and you should consider having cold water available. We turned around before reaching the top and found a cafe. I am diabetic and have osteo arthritis in my left knee. That day was too close to having a heat stroke for my liking. Someday I will try again. However, our guide, Alexa (?) was extremely entertaining, patient, and knowledgeable.

The woman giving the tour was very nice, but it was at a very basic level. Not very academic, not much high-level history, a lot of dumb talk. I’m sorry, but I would’ve expected a little bit higher level for the amount of money I’ve paid.

Emotional experience

Alexandra Kolia was our tour guide for 4 hours, to the Acropolis and museum. We felt lucky to have her. She was passionate, engaging, warm and friendly. She welcomed our questions and provided us with so much history about the artifacts. She was extremely knowledgeable and we loved it.

Excellent

Nick was so knowledgeable and you could see his passion. We had some slower walkers in the group and he was very patient and attentive to everyone in the group.

Excellent tour

Guide was very thorough. Have lots of great information. Tour lasted more than 4 hours. Only down side was that guide disappeared at end of tour so he missed out on getting a tip.

Great tour but too long

Tour guide was great with impeccable knowledge but the tour was too long and it was very hot so we had to leave the tour before it ended.

Great tour for young and old, don’t be put off y the walking part.

Very informative walking tour. To be honest with central Athens being pedestrianised you’re better off with a walking tour. The pace was good for young and old people on the tour and our guide Vivian not only informed us about all the history but also made sure we stayed cool (hottest day of the year so far). Overall 5/5 for this tour.

A great easy tour!

Great tour. Our guide was smart, kind, fun and easy to follow and understand. She made sure we got from spot to spot with great information and ease. Earpiece was a nice touch to be able to hear the tour. Wear good shoes, be prepared for heat, bring water, and enjoy! We walked about 10,000 steps total with acropolis and museum tour.

Wonderful guide and great experience

Helen was a wonderful guide. Super thoughtful and wildly informative. The tour itself requires a lot of walking, and on a hot day it can be pretty tiring. The overall experience was great, we would recommend this to most people. It checked off a bunch of boxes for us and we would do it again if we came back to Athens.

Awesome experience

Vivian was a great tour guide. Very informative and presentation was very good. Enjoyed acropolis and Parthenon wonders of the world so glad they are being preserved. Worth the trip.

Great Guide-Great company-Excellent sights!

We had a great guide! (Sorry don’t have his name) but he had a safari hat 😂 he was knowledgeable, funny, thoughtful (think shade in 96* heat) and through! The site itself is amazing, awe inspiring and has a history I had no idea about! We loved this excursion! (Family of 6 ages 49-70+) would highly recommend this company and excursion.

Hike the Acropolis

The guide was very informative and gradually guided us up to the top of the Acropolis. The walk to the top is NOT an easy on, it is a hike. There is no short cut. We went on a very hot early day. This would have been nicer on a cooler day. Crowds build as the day progresses too. Bring water. We had to see the Parthenon. The museum tour was fabulous.

A must do on your trip to Athens!

This is a must do on your trip to Athens! The museum part of the tour was quite lengthy and I would have preferred to spend more time on the historic grounds, but our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

Oustanding tour with Nikolas!

Nikolas was an oustanding guide. He provided a lot of information and context for all the buildings on the Acropolis. He was able to bring history to life. One of the best tours I have ever taken. He also provided a tour inside the Acropolis Museum. Again, outstanding. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend

Outstanding tour! Our guide was both informative and entertaining. She paced the walk up to the Acropolis well so that even in 100 degree heat, it was doable. The museum is also well worth the visit.

Fabulous!

We had Natasha as our guide. She was fabulous, very knowledgeable. She kept the tour exciting and educational. It's just an amazing historical site with views of all of Athens. It was cloudy when we went which was good because it would have been very hot otherwise. The museum is well laid out and really enhances the understanding of the Parthenon. It's a long tour (4+ hours) but totally worth it.

Good tour!

Our tour of the Acropolis was good. Our guide did a good job explaining everything to us and keeping us out of the hot sun when possible. The Acropolis is truly breathtaking.
