Acropolis of Athens and Acropolis Museum Tour

Trip to the Top in 99 degree heat.

Our guide, Alexandria, was exceptional. On the hottest day of the year so far, she kept us enthralled with stories about each segment of the walk to the top. She made sure she stopped where shade was available. She knew so much about the Acropolis, it was amazing.

Do This Tour!!

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and tried her hardest to keep us shaded during explanations of various stops. Make sure you take water like they say! Try your hardest to go in the early morning if possible. There are restrooms and water available at the top however the lines were long and the time permitted before descending was not enough time to get through the line. We included the museum tour after the hike to the Acropolis which was worth our while. My personal recommendation would be for the tour guides to take you to the cafe in the museum PRIOR to the museum tour to give you a potty break and relax and get a beverage. It was hard for us senior citizens to go right from 3hrs of hiking in the heat to a 2hr walk in the museum with no break. We kinda lost interest and went off in our own from the tour guide. No disrespect but we were very exhausted and needed a sit down break to keep our interest. But this tour was wonderful and very worth the money!!

Best way to see Athens/Parthenon

Our tour guide Dimitris was very knowledgeable and easily understood. We throughly enjoyed the tour! Would highly recommend!

Walking Tours screwed up my Acropolis tour.

My most memorable experience is that I paid for the tour and saw NOTHING. They lost our groups tickets & got kicked out. No plan “B” and they wanted to give me half my money back. Viator scheduled the tour thru “Walking Tours” and that company totally screwed it up. Avoid this group at all cost.

Acropolis and Museum

Our tour guide Nikoleta was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, attentative and went above and beyond expectations.

Highly Informative

What can you say about a climb up to the Acropolis that hasn't already been said. It was a fabulous adventure led by our guide Hermes who was pleasant and full of information (with a rock & roll heart). The headsets were very helpful, especially if you stray from the herd like me to take a picture. One thing I would point out is to be aware that the climb is not for the weak of heart, you need good walking shoes (preferably sneakers as we had) and you should be in fairly good shape (my wife and I are in our sixties and athletic and there were still challenges between slippery, uneven paths, especially coming down where we had some challenges keeping up with our group). The tour of the museum was part of the excursion and was worth every penny, as Hermes again provided us with a plethora of information. Highly recommended

Viator always delivers

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on our tour. Sometimes earbuds were choppy and could hear as clearly, but enjoyed our tour.

Wonderful experience

The tour guide Jordan was excellent, very informative, moved at a comfortable pace, kept us aware of walking hazard. Would recommend him or others with aviator.

Lots of standing around

Very cool to see Acropolis and the Parthenon. A lot of standing around tho. Especially in the museum, at least that part was air conditioned

Take water and aspirin, lol It was AMAZING! Nikola (I think, spelling). Was fantastic with her information, knowledge, and attention to detail. You can tell she loves what she does! My wife and I are gym rats, so the hike/stairs and often time uneven ground was not an issue for us. But be ready for a workout. There was people of all ages and fitness levels though. Nikola did a great job keeping track of her group and even took plenty of breaks, to fill our minds with the wonders of Greek mythology

Wonderful day

Our guide was great, she was very informative and kept the right pace while walking. She provided a great description at every point along the way and told the wonderful history of the site. Can not recommend enough

Athens

Enjoyed the acropolis. Museum Deja vu as most info already told. There was an earlier walking Athens tour and that would be a better option than museum tour

Acropolis and the Pantheon

The guide, Niobii(sp??) was very informative and knowledgable of the history regarding the Acropolis and buildings we visited. Niobi was very friendly and considerate of the group, not walking to fast as we climbed the hill towards the top of the Acropolis.

great tour and guide

Appolo our guide was very knowledge and helpful. We enjoyed the tour very much. The meeting place was easy to find. The headsets worked well. We had a private tour of the museum as there was only 2 of us that day and only a small group at the acropolis.

Overview of the Acropolis and Parthenon

This tour had two start times, Early morning and at 11:30am beginning at the Metro station near the Acropolis Museum. It had the best sound system of the many tours that I have taken over the years. The guide was knowledge, very good English, a bit wordy with explanations, I believe out of enthusiasm of education. Wait lines at the Parthenon was about 20 minutes but can become an hour. The climb up was relatively easy but not handicap accessible. Unfortunately time management is important for the tour, since we spent too much time at the Parthenon and had only 45 minutes at the Museum, although Easter celebrations complicated the time table also. There are many sidewalk cafes available before and after the tour as are convenient hotels near as are many shops. Great tour and would recommend as introduction to Athens.

Great experience but a little nervey

Dimitri was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. The walk to the Acropolis was much more strenuous than was anticipated by some members in our group. Found much of the paths rocky and slick and with the wind kinda demanding for some in group. It was a wonderful experience but a little nervey

Highly recommend this tour

Love this tour of the acropolis + museum. I don’t recommend this tour for anyone who has any trouble walking or being mobile, it is an active tour on often uneven ground. Our tour guide was excellent and so knowledgeable. She did a good job Of keeping everyone together in a very cramped area. The tour did run a little long and we had to dip out early but our tour guide was great and said upfront that some people do that and it’s no problem at all. I was very glad we booked this and did not have to try to read all the plaques up on the acropolis.

Awesome Acropolis

Our tour guide “Fay” was outstanding. Extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of the city and country of Athens Greece. Additionally, she was passionate about the antiquity and mythology of its ancient period. We thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated her 5 hours.

Outstanding tour and guide

Parthenon and museum we’re amazing and guide was excellent and knowledge stories relayed were fascinating

Paid however we received a confirmation that was not honored- paid twice for 2

We never received the official tickets therefore had to pay for new tickets to both Acropolis and museum when we arrived! The tour did not disappoint however paying double for both of us was not what we expected!!

Chaotic but good

Was very difficult to find the line to join for a rebooked ticket. Very chaotic.. no signage at all. Also in comparison to the Colosseum in Rome and what those tickets get you for €18 I would say €32 for the Acropolis is a little too much.

It was great to have a guide at the Acropolis!

Fay was a wonderful tour guide! She took care of us all and made sure we were all ok and together. She helped me when my headphones stopped working. She has a wealth of knowledge and pointed out the important things that I might have missed on my own. Thank you Fay!

Outstanding experience at Acropolis and the museum

An excellent tour!

The tour guide appeared to highly professional in leading us through the waking tour of the acropolis Athens and Acropolis Museum. She eloquently presented the relevant historical facts, peppered with the classical Greek myths, greatly facilitated our understanding of what we saw. She took great care of each of us tour members (about 34 total), without leaving anyone behind. The tour company was also great: when we called informing them possible lateness, they sent a colleague waiting for us at the meeting point to hand us the entrance tickets and directed us catchup the flock so that we didn’t miss any presentations by the tour guide. Highly recommended.

Apollon was great!

We had Apollon and he was amazing! So much great history and was so considerate of rest stops. We also did the museum tour. He knows so much! Great day. Highly recommend!

Breathtaking views of the Acropolis

Our group tour was fantastic. The tour guide was knowledgeable and about to answer all of our questions. Please bring a bottle of water with you on the tour through the Acropolis. It’s a popular place to visit, and the lines can be long; but it’s totally worth the wait.

Overall recommend this tour!

Katrina was very knowledgeable, organized and pleasant. We learned a lot! The tour of the acropolis and museum took closer to 4 hours. If you are doing the museum tour, you do have to walk from one site to the next.

Brought history to life

Our guide, Margaret, was so knowledgeable & enthusiastic that she brought the Acropolis, Temples & the artifacts in the Museum to life.

Excellent Tour

We very much enjoyed our tour of the Acropolis lead by our very informative and entertaining guide Apollon. If you want to get the most out of a visit to the Acropolis, a guided tour must be essential. Having Apollon guide us through the museum was also a great way to bring it all to life. Definitely recommended.

You've got to do this tour!

The entire tour experience was well planned and paced. The meeting point was easy to find. Our tour guide George N was fantastic id recommend him to anyone. It was a good mix of information and fun conversations. It gets busy so go for the earliest tour that you can. I'd do this tour again if I'm back in athens x

A great experience with Yanni and Viator

My Sister and I spent about 5 hours with Yanni, at the Acropolis, Pantheon and Archeological Museum. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable about everything we saw. More than that, he provided the information in the form of stories, which made it so much easier to remember the details and relate events to each other. Yanni was also patient and attentive to all the visitors in the group. It was a wonderful experience and well worth the cost.

Brought the Acropolis to life

Our guide Tina gave us a lot of context to what we were looking at. Without her pointing out parts of the Parthenon, we would've missed a lot of the details. Big chunks of the original sculptures are in the Acropolis Museum, and so you get to see them up close... So the museum visit really gave us even more appreciation for the works of art (and increased annoyance at how many original pieces were carted off to the British Museum - who still refuses to give it back to this day!).

Great start to understand Greek history and mythology.

Artemis was our tour guide for the morning and she was absolutely brilliant. It was so nice to hear about the history and she is definitely the most knowledgeable. I love her style and sense of humour. Great delivery on historical facts, with some anecdotes. The your itself is very well organised and absolute professionals.

Excellent guided tour of Acropolis!

Excellent guided tour of the acropolis ruins, and the acropolis museum by Anna! Tour guide was very knowledgeable. She knew of updated information of archaeological events surrounding historical pieces. She was able to weave together a story that kept our children, ages, 10 and 12 captivated. it was interactive, she asked questions, and answered our questions as well. Did not feel rushed. Whole tour took about 3.5 hours. I would strongly recommend purchasing option that includes museum tickets, it is a much smoother process and allows you to skip the line on busy days to the acropolis museum.

Energetic and Knowledgeable

Artemis is knowledgable and enthusiastic. She uses a bit of the Socratic method, and is fun and a dedicated Greek cultural ambassador. You'll be entertained by her witty and lively presentation. She works hard and keep our interest throughout!

Great Tour

We had a great archaeologist guide who spoke excellent English. He was easy to hear and understand, especially with the microphone packs provided. The many stops during the ascent of the Acropolis were timed perfectly to make the ascent manageable for persons of all ages and abilities. We had a great time!

Great tour

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed both the Acropolis and museum tour. The museum tour focused on the highlights, but there was a lot more to see in the museum. We suggest to plan for some extra time after the tour to explore the rest of the museum on your own.

Great Place….So So Tour

The Acropolis is a must visit experience. It was fascinating and I recommend a tour. It’s very crowded and as with any tour, much is dependent on one’s guide. Ours made no effort to carry a flag or anything to identify his position and made no effort to keep the group together. While knowledgeable this was one tour where a private guide would have been much better.

Your best way to really experience the Acropolis

Our guide Margertia was very open and interactive with the group; easy to hear through the provided earphones. We felt that this kind of tour was the best way to really learn about the history of Athens and the Acropolis. The pace was good; the average fitness of our group was balanced; this is necessary since the tour involves a lot of walking, much of it up hill (both ways - in the snow! ok, just kidding). Note, you will be on your feet for essentially 4 hours. The autumn timing of our tour allowed for manageable crowds. There were enough opportunities provided to stop and experience the spaces and take pictures. A final stop at the Acropolis Museum was a highlight and added to our understanding of the period and art and construction.

Excellent tour. From booking (detailed information, including options), to checking in (recommend doing it in advance to get your listening devise adn tickets if applicable, then snack, have coffee on or buy water from an arrays of shops near by, before starting the tour). Our guide was knowledgeable, considerate and caring. While climbing to the top of Acropolis, she was stopping at regular intervals, trying to keep us in the shadow and even sitting down where possible during her informative talks, photo taking etc. (it was a hot day). Recommend without any reservations.

Good tour

Guide was knowledgeable and patient. We don’t have to weight in any lines for tickets. Glad we toured the museum too.
