Amazing Athens

Dimos was an amazing tour guide. There is so much history in Athens. We really enjoyed learning about the area while riding around the town on our electric bikes.

Knowledgeable Guide

Our guide was very knowledgeable. It was crowded in the museum but she was able to get us good access to displays. She clearly knew the history and was able to share it with us.

Museum review

Guide was very well informed and gave much detail regarding the pieces in the museum. Would recommend if you want a tour of the museum.

Don't see the museum without this

Great guide and info with details of the Acropolis, the findings at the site, and the history of the area and Athens. Wouldn't have gone to the museum without doing a tour, and this was 10/10

Beautiful museum with a friendly, knowledgeable guide.

We enjoyed seeing the new museum with such a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Anna/Ani ? did a great job!

Great guide but needed more information about entry to museum

The guide did an excellent job. We feel that we were not given enough information about where to meet the guide and about whether we should get our own tickets or pay the guide to procure them.

Absolutely must see after Acropolis

Perfect amount of time in the museum with a very knowledgeable tour guide. It’s unfortunate we can’t remember her name - she had short, blonde-ish hair. She was so nice- and showed us just enough leaving time to explore on our own. I recommend doing this tour after a visit to the Acropolis so you understand better what you are seeing. And if you have at least 2 days in Athens, doing one on each day gives more time to take them both in without rushing.

Highly recommend Acropolis Museum

Our guide was fantastic and covered so much. The museum is very well done. At the start of the tour there was some confusion on whether or not our tickets were paid for. Another person was there to collect the money for the tickets and wanted more than the price of the ticket that could be purchased direct from the museum. He backed down when we called him out and then we joined the tour and it went smoothly.

Worth the hike!

Mind blowing experience! Grand History! It’s a good hike up the hill but worth the effort! Go with a guide to learn all the history. Our guide was fantastic. Smart and articulate!

Nice, informative tour

Nice, informative tour. Well organized. I appreciated and understood what was being displayed much more than if I were to go through the museum by myself.

Worth every penny. You get skip the lines and our tour lady was amazing. She was very knowledgeable. I truly enjoyed this.

Interesting but disappointing

I think this is a fabulous tour as you learn so much about the acropolis, its history and more importantly how the sites looked before being destroyed. It’s a good idea to do the tour before visiting the ruins so you can understand what you are viewing. However, my lower star rating is due to the guide we had on the day. She was extremely knowledgeable and really knew her stuff, however she seemed to be in a rush when speaking, moved the group around quickly, was impatient with visitors who were late and disorganised (understandably!!), didn’t invite questions until the end of the tour and wrapped it all up on the dot of the hour. We didn’t feel this was value for money. I think this is a fabulous tour as you learn so much about the acropolis, its history and more importantly how the sites looked before being destroyed. Kelli did a wonderful job...

Kelli did a wonderful job of explaining the mythology and reality of ancient Greece. She made it interesting. I found the meeting point to be a challenge, but that could be me, my suggestion would be that once you come across the tram tracks, walk along the adjacent sidewalk, and you will arrive at the ticket booth, where tours guides are waiting.

Great Modern Museum

Great couple of hours in museum with guide putting the exhibits into context and helping us understand them fully. Definitely worthwhile having a guide around this fantastic moden museum.

Easy slow tour with AC

Nice tour. It was relaxed and unrushed. All indoors in nice ACs. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. It’s a little under 1.5 hours long

Quick highlights,

George gave informative presentation. One hour hit highlights. We did this before going to Acropolis—most people do the opposite. We liked knowing the stories first.

Great experience for a solo travel

Hermes was a very good guide. The group was of perfect size for the place. Pre-activity information precise and truthfull. The museum is a must visit.

Great introduction to Athens and ancient Greece

We actually combined two tours into one day of sightseeing. In the morning we had a city tour of Syntagma Square, the National Gardens and Temple of Zeus. We watched the changing of the guard at the parliament building and continued our walk through the city. It was a great introduction to Athens and its history. We had a nice break at a little coffee/pastry/ice cream cafe then picked up the second tour which was the Acropolis and Agora. Our guide was an Archaeologist and was very knowledgeable. Be aware that its quite a climb up to the top and there are some large and potentially slick marble steps to climb. This would be difficult for elderly or for someone with a physical impairment. There are no ADA type facilities. We enjoyed both tours even though the temperature was in the 30s and it was incredibly windy. Well worth it.

If you are coming to Athens you must book this tour They really do know everything you need to know about this stunning city It was our pleasure to have Natasha as our guide her knowledge is outstanding she is by far the best guide we have ever used

Natasha was over 30...

Natasha was over 30 minutes late for the meetup time inside museum. The tour was scheduled to start at 1:45pm but didn't start until after 2:15pm. The museum closed at 4pm so we had no time to enjoy it on our own after the tour ended.

Excellent tour

We had a lovely guide , Vicky , and were very lucky to see the Acropolis during the Covid crisis when there were ver6few other visitors. Our group was small and Vicky was very informative bringing everything to life with stories of the Greek Gods and myths. We didn't stay for the museum tour but very much enjoyed the guided tour of the Acropolis and would certainly recommend Athens Walking tours.

Great Tour!

Our tour was informative and guide was lovely. Group wasn’t big which was nice too. Would highly recommend doing this tour and see the Acropolis Museum before going to the Acropolis as it will make much more sense and you will be able to understand how the Acropolis looked like when you are there.

Might be great if you are 8 yo

I liked our guide, but she seemed to think we were eight years old. She would ask the group mind numbingly obvious questions, and would not continue until they were answered. I recommend one of your group play the role of enthusiastic child and answer all the questions quickly so that you don't have to stand around and wait. The content was only a little better than reading the labels ourselves.

The changed the tour time

I understand things get missed occasionally but it was their attitude. They changed a tour time and forgot to tell us that it was leaving earlier so we missed out. With our getting into too much detail they didn't believe what I was saying even though I was reading from the confirmation and would only believe me when I showed one of their guides. It would have been better perhaps to look at their records instead of assuming I was lying. I did get the offer to change the date but that didn't work out for us so they gave us the refund.

Informative guided walking tour

Our tour guide, Eleni, was very informative about the history and culture of Athens as she guided us through a well paced tour of the Acropolis.

I am NOT a museum kind of person - this was awesome!

I am NOT a museum person - but to see a museum of precious artifacts built on top of an actual site was TOO cool! The guide was very very informative - made it interesting - 2 hours was perfect and in AC which was nice on a hot afternoon! We went to the Acropolis skip the line tour the previous afternoon and again, the guide made it very informative and fun!

Beautiful museum, having a guide - essential!

The Acropolis Museum has been rated as one of the best museums in the world and i would agree with that assessment. The problem is that with the pieces disconnected from the Acropolis itself, it's hard to understand how things "fit." That's where have a guide comes in! Our guide did an excellent job of relating many of the ancient pieces to life at that time, even down to providing examples of how they mixed the local minerals into different shades of paint. Other than wishing the tour was a little longer, I very much enjoyed our guide and the details he provided about the museum.

Wonderful learning tour and amazing relics

Took the tour with our guide, Angeliki Sournou, who was extremely knowledgeable and so very friendly. We actually arrived unluckily, on the day of a one day strike by the Parthenon staff. Our tour guide made the most of it and gave us a terrific tour around the grounds and through the museum. Her understanding of not just the items, but the stories that go with them made for a fabulous day. Highly recommend the tour and ask for Angeliki if you can.

Despina was great!

We enjoyed this tour very much. It was the perfect amount of time, our tour guide was great, and we learned a lot! Thank you so much. We did the sunset tour, when the Acropolis was less crowded. It was still very hot as it is July, but much less humid than the tour earlier in the day. Highly recommended!
