The tour guide for group (19) was exceptional, she took the time to explain the history of Greece and detailed explanation of archeology of Acropolis. The negative comments we have is that we should arrive at the meetings place at least 15 minutes before the start of the tour at 8:30am. But other tour participants didn’t arrive until 9 am. We highly recommend a very good and comfortable shoes with good traction.

Delightful views, delectable bites

A tasty and educational tour. The Acropolis tour was very educational and the views were second to none. Our tour guide Hermes was knowledgeable and ensured that we had enough time to take photos and also kept us in shady areas. The latter was very much appreciated during the sunny day. For the food tour, our guide Stella, was so kind and provided us with a delectable experience. All places were in the Athens city center, and walking from place to place was seamless. As a vegetarian, I can confirm that the food tour was indeed vegetarian friendly and I got to experience local dishes. My advice would be to try everything you can - especially the coffee.

Delightful!!

Georgia hosted us to the top of the acropolis. She was extremely knowledgeable and made many stops which helped with the climb. Theo was our host for the food tour. He was an absolute delight! This tour is well worth the money! Enjoy!

Enjoyable Experience

It was a great experience and Niobe was very knowledgeable and made the tour pleasant. The walk up the hill was done in sections learning along the way.

Amazing tour!

The Acropolis & Athens Highlights with Food Tasting was amazing! It was nice to skip the lines and we learned so much about the Acropolis. The highlight of our tour was the Food Tasting with Eva. She is a fantastic tour guide! We learned so much about Greek history, culture and the food. She made sure that we all had a great time and were well fed. We did not want our time with her to come to an end! We would not hesitate to recommend this tour with Eva. Thank you for a memorable time!

Good food and good views

The tour was so educational and everyone was very friendly. I recommend doing the food portion of the tour because we learned a lot, ate good friend and saw some parts of Athens we wouldn’t have otherwise seen.

Good tour and knowledgeable guides

Great tour. Adonis our guide for the Parthenon portion was very knowledgeable about the site and history. We joined the food walking tour with Eva who is so fun and took us to the best places for authentic, traditional food. Easy walking, nice small group. Mask up at the Acopolis, lots of people up top.

Fun and Easy Walking Tour of the Acropolis & Tasty Food Tour in the City

Educational trip to the Acropolis with amazing views of historic sites and expansive views of the city. Very memorable experience! Later followed by a fun walking food tour of the city that was informative and tasty. Able to try many local bites and gain greater familiarity with the city and its authentic cuisine

Excellent Tour with no shortage of snacks

Took this tour with my wife and mother in law and we had an incredible time. Tina was our guide for the acropolis and was very informative. We then met Eva for the food portion of the tour where we walked to 4 different stops and each was really delicious. Eva had fantastic energy and also took us to a great little community which had fantastic views of the city. Highly recommend the combo so you can get a great taste of Athens while covering the sites

Food, history, and fun

Eva was so knowledgeable about the area and the food. The yogurt with cherries was my husband's favorite. This is a walking tour, so make sure you wear your best walking shoes.

Greek History & Delicacies!

Georgiana for the Acropolis tour was so great. She was so well spoken and had great history to share about the history of Athens. She was very friendly and made the trip lots of fun. Marina for the food tour was excellent - what a great way to see the city. She was so friendly and knew all the best local spots. From Greek yogurt, to spanikopita, to orange cake, we were so happy and full at the end of the tour. It was excellent.

Very informative

Friendly staff just unbearably hot in July. We had a heat wave so it could be unusual but normally hot in July. The walking tour took longer than expected because of the line to get in but it’s out of the control of the staff. Overall it was longer than expected and very detail information about the history.

A must Do!!

Great experience with Alexandra, she was really informative, highly recommend the your. We did the good tour with Stella, great personality and loved the places she tools us to, definitely ask her to take you to the spices store, that was my favorite

Great way to See and taste Athens!

We went to the Acropolis early and it was already busy. Georgia was a great guide for the Acropolis and she was accommodating for my minor physical limitation. It is a little bit of a trek, I would not recommend it for any one afraid of heights or who cannot climb steps. The second half, food tasting was hosted by Angel. He had a great personality and was also accommodating for the vegans and vegetarians of the group. It was a good way to taste Athens and Greek food. The portions were also outstanding! Well, worth it!

Wonderful tour with fantastic guides

We had a wonderful time touring around the Acropolis with Katerina and the food tour with Angel. Both guides were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. Every food that Angel suggested was delicious and by the end of the tour, it felt like we were friends. If you want to learn about the history of Athens as well as try the delicious local food, I would highly recommend.

Exceptional

Eli was kind & an exceptional Acropolis tour guide. She handed us rain ponchos & also had the audio guide which was truly wonderful in the crowd at Acropolis. Eli was also our food tour guide, taking us to Plaka, Monastracki & Pireus, introducing us to some wonderful Greek Food. Eli was an exceptional & knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed our time w/ her!

This tour brings history alive!

This tour led by Fotini made my whole family including my teen excited about history! Fotini has an amazing way of bringing the history of Athens and the area to life, and relates it to everyday life. She is a very gifted tour guide. The sound system ensured everyone could hear Fotini sufficiently, which was very helpful because we did not want to miss one word - it was that fascinating. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. The food tasting at three fantastic restaurants and information about Athens outside of the Acropolis was a bonus, and really personalized the tour for us. Thank you so much!

A wonderful beginning to our trip!

I highly recommend this tour! Fotina was our guide and she was wonderful! We were able to learn history, see the Acropolis and Parthenon, and see parts of Athens that we never would have found on our own. The food tasting at the end of the tour let us try some traditional Greek dishes. This was a great way to see Athens!

A must if you only stay in Athens for a short while

Ingenious activity for a short stay in Athens. We only had one full day to explore Athens before heading out to the Islands. This tours comes highly recommended as we got to see Acropolis well before the cruise ship hordes came rolling in. Afterwards we walked past some more interesting sights and stopped a few places on the way to try amazing traditional food and drinks.

Acropolis tour and food tasting

Our guide, Chavoula made the tour of the Acropolis area very interesting. The buildings and site are magnificent. She was very well informed, fluent in English and kept the group moving. Afterwards the 1 hour food tour was great. Not only did we taste food and drink from 3 different restaurants; she also explained cultural significance and we went through the Plata areas winding streets. Highly recommend

Feed Your Heart, Soul, and Stomach

Our specific tour was the Acropolis & Athens Highlights with food tasting. Our very personable, knowledgeable, and articulate guide was Natasha. She was the best. For the first half of our tour, our small group of 8 rambled through the Acropolis grounds. From the meeting point in the Plaka to the Parthenon it was a bit of a walk but Natasha filled our heads with historical facts and stories while our eyes were filled with the beauty of ancient Greece. The walk was paced well with many stopping points to rest and take in the many sights and vantage points. Natasha took the time to answer all of of our questions and even pull out discussion points on thing we didn't know to ask. Since tickets to the Acropolis grounds were included in the tour, we were able to skip the ticket line (that line was very long) and head straight in. At this point be prepared for a gradual inclined walking path and many steps up to the Parthenon. The effort is worth it as the ancient ruins are spectacular, exquisite, stupendous. No image in a book, photo, or Google Maps can match what you see in person. This is where the Acropolis tour ends. You can spend as much time as you want at the Acropolis but the tour guide moves on to the Athens Highlights With Food Tasting segment. The rest of the group has left us and now my wife and I are on a private tour with Natasha. We wind our way down from the Acropolis, through some narrow walkways, and into the Plaka to begin our food tour. The conversation picks up even more since we have Natasha's undivided attention. We talk about history, politics, tourists, food, restaurants, entertainment, travel, Greek islands. We stroll through tourist areas, neighborhoods know only to locals, hidden ruins, back streets; bringing up interesting points along the way. We drink ice coffee, eat cheese pies, meat pies, souvlaki, Lukumades, and other treats I forget to name. We were were loving it and were very full. The frosting on this very delicious walking tour cake was Natasha giving us the names of her personal favorite restaurants and shops to visit in Athens and Crete. Two of the restaurants she recommended in Athens were the best meals we had our our entire vacation. Thank you Natasha and Athens Walking Tours for an exceptional time.

We had a fabulous tour with Eli seeing the acropolis museum, local neighborhoods ad food tasting. Eli is one of the best tour guides we have ever had, full of historical knowledge, humour and education.

4 hours Of History and joy

Tour guide Fotini really made the day, enjoyed every minute of the tour. History well explained with humor which was great, definitely would recommend to all friends and family!

Great day out

It was a fascinating and fun tour of the Acropolis with our excellent guide & insider Charoula; but the coffee, conversation and delicious traditional snacks offered as part of the food tasting later (starting in beautiful Anafiotika; ending in Agion Anargyron Square) was an atmospheric and enlightening experience and the real highlight for me.

Professional and accommodating!

We had a group of 28 (all family, ages 12 to 80) and were very pleased with how Athens Walking Tours worked with us from even before we arrived in Athens. They helped us arrange two private groups for our large number, including transportation. They were very responsive and the guides knowledgeable and friendly -- and especially accommodating as we had a couple of people running late or arriving at the wrong location! We enjoyed this tour in particular because it was a nice mix of history, landscape, "hidden neighborhoods," and food and drink. It was a good "all ages" tour and I highly recommend it. Athens Tours was professional and easy to work with!

Good tour

Eli was a knowledgeable guide. Our tour started at 8:30 a.m. and I do wonder if it would have made more sense to visit the Acropolis at the onset of the tour before it got as hot and crowded as it was later in the morning.

Eli was a great guide!

Eli was an amazing guide! She was really personable and knowledgable. It was easy to tell that she really appreciates all of the history and enjoys sharing it with others. The Acropolis tour was amazing -- we had several stops along the way to see and learn about various sites such as the Temple of Asclepius, the Theatre of Dionysus, and the Odeon of Herodes. There were so many interesting facts and history we learned that we never would've without this tour. After the Acropolis, the food tour followed with a much smaller group, which was nice. We got to walk around different the different neighborhoods of Athens, and learn a little about them. The different foods we tried were all great and located in different parts of the city which was nice. Overall, I highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommended

Our tour with Georgia was great! Georgia inspired all of us with her enthusiasm and charm and introduced us to huge amount of different local beverages and food. We enjoyed a lot the time we spent with her during our tour in the city.

Thoroughly enjoyable tour

We thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour and our tour guide Vicky was great! Very personable and funny and had an archeological background, combined great stories of the true history with Greek mythology. We had audio sets so we were always able to hear her and we took the morning tour (8:30am) so we beat the crowds to the top of the acropolis. We stayed for a neighborhood tour of plaka and ended tasting Greek desserts, Greek coffee, spinach pies and gyros. Can’t recommend this experience enough.

We loved every minute! Stevie was a fantastic guide, and ended the tour by taking us to an incredible lunch place in Psirri. A great way to spend half a day.

An outstanding tour and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The guide has a Phd in archeology and knew how everything on the Acropolis linked to Greek mythology.

Artemis is Excellent

Our guide, ,Artemis Olympidou was what made the tour special. Her evident and vibrant passion for the history, her detailed knowledge and the manner in which she embarked and managed the group made it a uniquely pleasurable experience where could easily get the feel of what all that it felt like 2300 years ago around and on the Acropolis. Next time we want to have her as our guide again and there will be a next time !!

Amazing tour with Artemis!

A huge thank you to Artemis for a wonderful tour! It was my first day in Athens and this was a perfect way to kick start my holiday! Artemis is such a welcoming, friendly and engaging guide. I learnt so much and could have listened to her all day! Her knowledge and passion are second to none. As a premium tour, the little details such as delicious Greek yoghurt and delicious treats at the end are the icing on the cake! I won’t reveal what they are so as not to soil the surprise. The tour includes a tour of Plaka and Anafiotika which are hidden gems I wouldn’t have discovered without Artemis. I left feeling like I had made a local friend. Don’t hesitate to book this tour!

Wonderful walking tour

We had a wonderful walking tour of the Acropolis with Sissy. Sissy was knowledgeable and engaging. It was great to learn so much about the Acropolis, Greek mythology and Ancient Greek history. She really provided valuable context to understand its importance. She also gave us the space to take in its beauty. I also just enjoyed talking to her about her pandemic experience and comparing notes. As a tourist, it is hard to get those insights just through observations. We travelled with 3 adolescents and they all were absorbed and inspired. Thank you so much!!! Take care.

Excellent! Worth doing

It was a hot day so our guide stood in the shade with us and took a lot of breaks to give us information about different areas and ruins. I was pregnant during the tour, so she was careful to maintain a pace that suited everyone. Our guide, Ioanna, was excellent and very informative. You can tell she has a passion for history and archeology. We ended up being the only one who signed up for the longer tour so it was only my husband and I the last couple hours and it was great! We asked loads of questions and learned so much.

Best tour ever with Sissy.

This our most favorite day in Athens. Sissy was fantastic! Explaining so much about the Acropolis, Greek mythology, and the origins of so many words and concepts we use today. Sissy brought life to the lives of the ancient Greeks. Highly recommend this intimate tour.

Premium experience for a premium tour!

Well, this was quite the experience, and I must say a very unique one considering it was off-season, as there was hardly a tourist in sight, also due to the pandemic! But I digress, let's discuss the tour itself. And considering I was the first tourist to take this specific tour, I must say I'm quite honored to post its first review as well! I had a wonderful time going on this tour with Despina. She has a certain verve and passion when explaining and discussing the historical elements from the sights that made you feel that you have travelled back in time and made the experience feel alive, while at the same time dispelling some of the beliefs I've had for a long time about the Acropolis! There was enough information without it feeling like a boring history lesson, and I appreciated the balance. Before the Acropolis, we had a small bite to eat with some traditional Greek yoghurt topped with some natural home-made fruit marmalade of your choosing. And of course being Greece, the Greek yoghurt flavor was to die for! We then went through Plaka, specifically through a scenic small part of that would normally be hidden from your everyday tourist. Despina's passion here was infectious while we walked through and she explained the area. We finally ended up in the Monastiraki area, and she took me to a bakery that sold different baked pies / puff pastries. We had the traditional spinach pie and a sweet custard pie. Oh. My. Goodness. Where has this spinach pie been all my life. And I normally don't like spinach! And the custard pie.... It's what sweet dreams are made of. Thank you Despina for the wonderful experience. I had a wonderful time (I did go back to have more pies after our tour!!), and I hope that when I am back, I can have another one of your tours to explore other parts of Greece. All the best!

Yohana notre guide a très intelligemment mêlé faits historiques, évolutions culturelles et sociales. Ce tour était très intéressant. Nous étions en groupe avec d’autres pour la partie de visite de l’Acropole puis juste nous 3, ma fille de 23 ans, La guide Yohana et moi pour la visite des quartiers Plaka et Monastiri. Une dégustation au départ, yaourt de lait de chèvre délicieux et une autre à l’arrivée, du sale et du sucré. Beaucoup de discussions. Le tout à notre rythme.
