The experience with Grigorios was unforgettable! We definitely felt like greek warriors for one day, and we learned so much information about warriors history. Also, it is not needed to have experience or former training whatsoever, so it is adequate for most!

Good activity for kids

Our family (2 adults, boy age 9 and girl age 6) really enjoyed this activity. We had a great time, and my son keeps talking about how much he liked it. Great activity and great idea!

Terrific Experience

We had a fantastic time learning about military history and getting a taste of it for ourselves! The guide was very knowledgeable and personalized the experience on the fly for our interests (we got extra Alexander the Great info). Had a great time!

Lovely day

Gregory was super knowledgeable about ancient tactics and weaponry and armory. It was really cool to act out how Hoplites fought in ancient times.

Fun and informative experience!

We had so much fun and it was so very informative!!! My husband is a history buff (especially military history) and he really got into it, but so did my 6-year old daughter. So there is something for everyone in this experience!

Great fun and learnt new skills!

Loved learning the spear techniques from ancient times and how the armour designs were developed over time. A must for any trip to Athens! :)

Best Athens activity

This was an incredible activity. My 8 year old declared it the best day ever. It was easily our best day in Athens. Gregory does a magnificent job bringing history to life. His detailed knowledge is impressive, and he's wonderfully kind and patient

For kids and adults

Hi! I am not very much into this kind of activities but my kids insisted on this one so i gave it a try. To my surprise i enjoyed it a lot. Both my kids were excited after the whole thing, but to me, the most important was Gregory's kindness, his humor and his friendly attitude towards us. He's wonderful and very attentite to children which made me feel at ease (i even had a coffee by myself during the whole time lol) Bye Greg!

Great time

He even spent time to give us extra information about this activity, including techniques, fun facts about ancient greek warriors and extra info about their war practice! History come to life

It was very fun and interactive experience for the whole family. Especially for the kids was really good because they can really learn from actually doing the experience. Highly recommend for families!!!

Fun, active, and educational - history lovers delight

A real treat for history lovers -- very affordable and only takes a couple hours. Very passionate guide - not sure if that's even the right word, as he doesn't walk you like a regular tour guide around but rather teaches you about the ways Greeks fought over 2400 years ago. Very fun, active, and educational.

The best way to learn

The experience was extremely fun. We thought we knew a lot about Greek history but we learned so much and in a very interactive, unusual way. Always enjoyable meeting people who are passionate about what they do and great at it, and this was certainly the case.

Fun and informative.

Gregorios was an excellent host, a great storyteller and a very kind person. We had a detailed history lesson about the region told from the perspective of evolving fighting tactics. The only reason we gave 4 instead of 5 stars was that we expected quite a bit more interactive action, fighting and exercise. I think if we would have been a larger group that would have happened. But since we were only three of us it was harder to do. One of the bonuses was that we got to walk through the Philoppapos hill area which we explored after our time with Gregorios. It is something to see for sure. Very cool Park. Overall a worthwhile experience and my 14 year old really enjoyed it.

Very inresting and unique exerience, I loved the passion that Gregory shared with the team and helped me realise a lot abut Hisorical Greek-Persian wars!

This was a great experience for us. I am traveling with three teenagers and They all enjoyed it. We learned so much about Greek and Persian war history; my oldest loved this as he’s a huge history buff! Grigory (probably not the correct spelling) was very interactive and friendly, we had no problem diving right into conversation with him. We all laughed and learned and walked away as friends. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a different kind of experience on their trip.

Great family or team activity!

This was such a unique and interesting experience. Gregory was very knowledgeable about the history and fighting tactics and was a joy to spend our morning with. Our kids (and us) learned so much and had a great time sparring with each other while working as a team. It was a great introduction to our first time in Greece!

A must do!

Grigorios was an amazing host. I booked the experience only 3,5h before it started and he had no problem with doing it even on such a short notice and eventhough it was just me alone. It was obvious he enjoys doing what he does and its really a passion to him and because of that i felt really good. I know pretty much about history generally but still he managed to tell me much new and interesting informations. And the interactive part is just a treat to crown the already amazing experience. I highly recommend to book his tour you will not regret it.

A New Experience, what a way

Gregory is such a passionate guy to his work we learned a lot about Greece history in a different way, and the fight lessons is a new experience and everybody must do the atmosphere overall with him is very friendly and makes you feel that you know him long ago for sure that I will do this experience again with him. An amazing experience

During our visit in Athens my boyfriend and I decided to take part in this activity. Gregory was friendly and knew a lot about Greek history!!! The interactive part was better than we had expected and we really enjoyed our first fight as a couple the one against the other. Strongly recommend it!!!

Awesome experience, highly recommended!

Not only do you get to enjoy a pleasant walk up Philopappos Hill and take in the views of the Acropolis, you get to learn about Greek history and have a go at role playing the part of an ancient Greek soldier! It was a fascinating insight into the different battle strategies between the all conquering Persian empire and the defiant Greeks who were completely outnumbered, but not outsmarted. You get to try out some of the techniques employed using wooden replicas of shields and spears which was fun. Gregory the tour guide, was brilliant as firstly, he was very passionate and enthusiastic, and secondly, he didn't mind doing a one-to-one session with me as no one else had booked at the time I did, which was awesome!

Broad lessons on Greek history and warfare

We went as a couple and had the guide all to ourselves. The interactive part using shields and weapons was very enjoyable. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic, energetic, engaging, and passionate. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn the basics of Greek history and warfare / military strategy.

Argue like an Athenian and fight like a Spartan

Gregory was a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who had an infectious enthusiasm for the history of Athens. He didn't give just dry facts but also tried to put things in context and offer his own insights. He was very friendly towards the children and really put the effort in especially with our moody teenager. The walk is a little more challenging than a normal historical walk but the views of Athens are breathtaking. At the end of the tour Gregory showed us how to fight in a Phalanx. Learning to fight like ancient Greeks was huge fun at the end. It was something unusual and special and it helped to make the history come alive.

What a day!

We had a wonderful time meeting Gregory and learning new things about Greece and the ancient greek martial art. Definitely a must do!

Great fun and interesting history lesson

Gregory was a great guide, there was only myself and my husband on this tour. He meet us and we walked the Filopapou Hill where he explained Athens history, which he has a passion for, from the beginning of Greek history. After 1.5 hours we went away from the hill and he showed us some tactical fighting against the Persians,from 480 BC, with some shields, pikes, spears, swords and shirt swords. Very interesting and great fun😆. We would recommend this tour, it is unique and Gregory is very personable. We wish him luck with this brilliant idea for bringing a part of Athens history to life.

Amazing!!

I had the greatest time ever during this theme walk, it was such a unique experience !! Grigoris is trully excellent at what he does, deeply knowledgable and his love and enthousiam had an uplifting effect on me! I was really sunked into the history, got to learn historical facts that I had no clue about - even being greek and quite aquainted with our history - and in combination with the amazing view and sites on the way, this theme walk will stay with me for a long time! During the last part of the theme walk, I was made to feel like an actual warrior, learning about ancient fighting technics and getting to hold real size replica weapons and armor next to my friend!So sureal! Extra plus: All the way through the theme walk, my interest was constantly building up and I didn't feel tired at all, although before we begun I felt pretty exhausted... adrenaline rush at its best! I cannot recommend this amazing experience enough!! You do not want to miss this!! Thank you so much Grigoris, you are brilliant!!

Excellent walk!

This was a great tour, I thoroughly enjoyed the way history was connected to what I saw. Being greek, I heard some things I already knew, but it was the first time I saw the events connected and placed in a timeline, and then connected to the monuments that mark them. The historical overview of the Persian and Peloponesian wars was incredible, the in depth knowledge of their fighting styles something I had never heard of before, and holding the replica of an ancient greek shield and standing next to my friend with it, like warriors of old, was just... Wow. Not to miss, it will give you a very good idea of the history of Greece in a very short time. A beautiful experience, for a Greek or a tourist alike!
